We are nearing the end of the year and truth be told, it was a rather lackluster year. 2023 wasn't any better than 2022. But, we love our K-dramas and we are eternally optimistic. So before the year ends, it is time for one last hurrah. Let's check out the anticipated dramas slated to release in November and December, 2023. Mind you the titles are working titles and the dates of airing are rather tentative and subject to last minute changes. Anyway, we incorrigible die-hard fans of K-dramas never ever lose hope and always find a silver lining in dismal K-dramas currently airing.

  • confusedheart changed the title to QUICK POLL: Most Anticipated Dramas airing in the last quarter of 2023

I would like to highlight the drama "Youth" which is inspired by the fictional storyline that exists through BTS's earlier Music Videos that ARMY called BU or Bangtan Universe (just like Marvel Universe).  It then extends to a webtoon.  Although the members acted in the MVs, these are not real stories about them.  The last I heard they changed the characters' names in the drama so as not to confuse others who are not familiar with the fictional storyline.

ARMY will sure look forward to it (I personally would like to see whether they really follow the BU storyline but at the same time I expect that there might be changes here and there for the flow of the stories.)

For those related MVs, you will see in the descriptionBU content certified by Big Hit Entertainment

*** 2023 is far from over. Next month (November) is ripe with exciting K-drama releases. I believe these are worth watching. At least, I can see them before the year ends. There have been lots to enjoy so far in 2023. Some of the ongoing dramas will end in November, and new dramas will begin to air in the same month. Many dramas started airing this month, though.

:ohboy2:

Once Upon a Boyhood (Im Siwan) – I love this because it’s only 10-EPs via Coupang Play. The drama will start airing on November 24.  Can’t wait to see him again.

Gyeongseong Creature (Park Seo Joon) - end of 2023, maybe December? Such is its popularity and strength that S2 is also confirmed even before the first season has rolled out.

Squid Game 2 – December or early 2024??? Considering the timeline and production schedules, a late 2024 release is a possibility. I’m glad that Lee Byung-hun is confirmed to reprise his role in this drama + additional of Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul and TOP.

Whether it is the return of a hit show or a new one set to air, my excitement doesn’t end here. Also, I’m most looking forward to for these dramas for ages now. :heart2beat:

Ask the Stars/When the Stars Gossip (Lee Min Ho)

Pachinko 2 ( Lee Min Ho)

Queen of Tears (Kim Soo Hyun)

These are my most anticipated K-dramas and I can’t wait to watch them. :kitty:

ARMY will sure look forward to it (I personally would like to see whether they really follow the BU storyline but at the same time I expect that there might be changes here and there for the flow of the stories.)

I will be watching this drama for sure (since I guess I could kinda technically be considered ARMY along with @sweetroad @larus @agenth @kokodus @rocat & co). Only issue is that this drama has been in the works for a long time already and the airing date has been pushed back for the last two years. Am not convinced it's airing in 2023. :sweatingbullets:

Pretty sure this one won't be coming out until next year.

This is a very kdrama trope filled synopsis, but somehow it still intrigues me. Call me nostalgic, but maybe this is what I need. Been a long time since I've watched smth like that.

What type of drama would get you excited, sweetie? Last time I saw you excited about a kdrama was Flower of Evil.

I had never heard of LTNS before I helped @confusedheart a little bit with this event. As I checked out the synopses of all the dramas, it stuck out. LTNS stands for: Long Time, No Sex

Esom and Ahn Jae-hong star as a frigid couple who resort to solving their financial problems by blackmailing people they find to be cheating on their partners.

Apparently this drama was written by indie movie writers and has gotten super great reviews in the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). This black comedy is apparently different from the kdramas we're normally used to. Here's an article about it:

@confusedheart thanks for the sharing of upcoming drama, good list to refer to.

Any thing there is thriller and suspense storyline will be my cup of tea :

Below are the list that I am waiting for :

  • Gyeongseong Creature
  • Death's Game
  • Castaway Diva
  • A Bloody Lucky Day
  • Maestra
  • Sweet Home 2
  • Vigilante

Just finished watching "Arthdal Chronicles S2", it was a thumbs-up drama for me.

The combination of religion and ancient fantasy is profound and far-reaching significance. Creating a new peaceful world with different races, which is what all mankind is pursuing, this is very ironic, especially with the ongoing war in the Middle East. Very very sad....

My current favourite watching list :

  1. Strong Girl Nam-Soon (JTBC) - very comical drama and i enjoyed it very much
  2. The Deal
  3. The Kidnapping Day
  4. Evillive (ENA)
  5. The Worst of Evil

I am excited because I am new subscriber to BTS and I'd love to know about them, their beginning and of course the rise.

have you always been their fan? Since their inception?

There is a game show based on Squid Game airing on NF. I watched the trailer, chingu. I am not keen on that. But yes, definitely looking forward to S2.  Gong Yoo is playing a bigger role , I heard. What did you think of the ending? It was kind of cliched?

Pachinko I demand we get more of LMH. He is looking so dashing. I love how he is aging. Manlier.

This is why I love K-dramas and no other drama can compete against it. It is like comfort food. Warms my soul, all those swoonworthy moments.

That's a good list. TBH, all the dramas I put up, the synopsis do look interesting. It remains to be seen how well they are executed. Often even a hackneyed story if well executed and portrayed becomes a delightful and exciting watch. I am going to keep my fingers crossed because they have often let me down when they finally aired.

I am excited about Maestra. I liked  Do You Like Brahms? Did you watch it,  chingu? I am excited about Cast away Diva too. TVC dramas are good, mostly.

If you are interested in knowing their REAL stories there are many ways. It can be overwhelming even for me sometimes, so please take it at your own pace.

1.  Their latest book  " Beyond the Story"

Spoiler

2.  Their songs (especially by the rap line)

Spoiler

3. Their LIVE broadcasts (Weverse) and other official SNS including their variety show - Run BTS and their travel show - Bon Voyage / BTS in the Soop.

4. Their documentaries (as a group and solo artist) - the first one is on YouTube - Burn The Stage, on Weverse etc

Spoiler

On YT Premium

The series

5. Their interviews with reliable journalists etc (not those questionable media)

6. You might also be interested in  watching  a fan-made documentary (which is the most trusted and better quality - The Rise of Bangtan

Non-official - at the end of 2016  and Official membership - 2018

** A  reminder again - the drama is based on Bangtan Universe (BU) If you are interested to know more about it

By the way, I'm no expert in BU, however, it is quite interesting for some ARMY because it's like a maze or puzzle where you can find clues from their Music Videos,  lyrics of their songs, the small notebooks they supply in their new albums and even from the Year End Award Performances.

@confusedheart  I don't really dig Gong Yoo. But, yes, I heard that he's returning for S2. I'm looking forward to S2 because of Lee Byung Hun, Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul and TOP, although I haven't seen S1 since Netflix kept his involvement a secret. They hid him from its marketing. Unlike now, they already include him in its marketing.   :kitty:

I selfishly would have liked a larger role for Lee Min-Ho this time in Pachinko 2.   :heart3:

I couldn't agree with you more about K-dramas. Stories are very well written. Korean characters are very well developed and relatable. Hence, they're interesting and extremely addictive. I'm not surprised why the world is in love with K-dramas especially women.   :heart2:

@partyon

Strong Girl Nam-soon- I did not know there is a thread discussion for this drama, it's ok as I may not have time to login. Haha, the problem is I don't login everyday due to my work schedule, sorry.   But a good entertaining drama like Strong girl is good for me.

Wow! It is indeed overwhelming! Thank you so much for all the leads. I am not sure if I can still identify them correctly and I'd let @partyon down if I get them wrong after she took great pains to help me  identify them. I am sure I can identify RM. :Pandabulous:

It's always to have plenty of oppas, just in case one gets involved in some scandal, and seeing how the K-drama  and K-pop industry is now bursting with scandals that are so bad that it might even end the careers of our oppas. :criesariver:
