A long, reminiscing post as my tribute to this ship’s historic day 01/01/2021. We have discussed bits and pieces over our past...almost 1,400 pages 

 

I have always been convinced CLOY is the “pre ordered” present that Bin Jin wished to gift each other as a keepsake of their fateful journey together. Hence why the drama was full of shippers’ crumbs and tributes to Ye Jin and Hyun Bin’s past works.

 

Se Ri and Captain Ri started off having nothing to do with each other. This is similar to when Hyun Bin went to the VIP premiere of YJ’s movie “A moment to remember” in 2004 without knowing her; and YJ doing a cameo in Secret Garden (2010). Then Seri and Captain Ri passed each other by in Switzerland 10 years ago (when she had suicidal thought and he was leaving the country after hearing the news of his brother passing), like how Bin Jin met but didn’t communicate at PIFAN in 2014. And apparently they were offered chances to work together at various points in the past but also for various reasons these offers were turned down.

 

As fate would have it though, Seri crashed landed into Captain Ri’s life. This was when “The Negotiation” happened and YJ and HB swept each other off their feet.

 

Even in ep. 1- Seri’s secretary already dropped the first hint “Those two are definitely dating”

 

Ep. 8 after credit- Seri paid tribute to Kim Joo Won’s infamous lines in “Secret Garden” on Christmas. “Why is someone else’s birthday important, why would you bother to decorate a tree, write a card and give gifts”

 

Ep.12- Captain Ri enjoying a beer at the end of a day, just like how Hyun Bin would like to finish the day as he shared in an interview during Cloy airing 

 

Ep. 13 cinema date- the vibe is 100% the cinema promo interview for “The Negotiation”

 

Ep. 14- Se Ri’s favorite TV channel 20 is the same channel 20 for TVN at both Bin Jin residences (unless they already lived together then! )

The paparazzi finally snapped photos of RiRi “looking good together” (hello LA grocery shopping!). This then triggered netizens’ Google search of Captain Ri- Bodyguard being the top keyword (“Bodyguard” was also the title of Hyun Bin’s drama in 2003), Ralph (hello again LA grocery!) was the 7th most searched keyword

When captain Ri met Se Ri’s step mum, she asked “how long have you two been dating”

Later in the episode, Se Ri’s 2nd brother’s line “Is it you? The guy from the scandal article about Se Ri?”

 

ep.14 after credit- rumors have it that the grocery Captain Ri stocked up for Se Ri’s cupboard is the same as the LA ones 

 

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, the great crumbs from ep.15 after credit. Korean NIS psychologists analyzed Captain Ri’s behavioral patterns towards Se Ri. When he is with her, “the centre of his torso faces her 90% of the time”

p/s the running under the rain is totally “The classic” (YJ’s movie in 2003) and the walking together in the rain under an umbrella is a tribute to YJ’s “Pretty noona who buys me food”. These were Hyun Bin’s way of saying you guys (JIS and JHi) were just passerby’s but I am THE man in her life

 Virtual hugs to our couple who made us believe in “fate”, “destiny”, “meant to be” and in “God’s own time”.

 

For many of us, our introduction to Korean and Asian dramas started with Crash Landing on You.

 

AND just like many of you I was also curious about the leads and why such an amazing chemistry based on what you see on screen only.

 

Therein lies the “genius” behind CLOY.  You root for the couple while watching but you hope that the reel love you witnessed will translate to real.

 

We begin the New Year doing traditional things to bring us happiness and most especially hope for the future.

We could not find a better and well-deserving couple to “ship”.  Arguably their story is better than any Kdrama with its twists and turns, doubts, questions, potential triangle, so many love angles.

 

When did BTSs and Fab Subs became more addicting than professionally-made romance comedies?

 

Who could not resist two equally beautiful inside and out, talented and successful individuals who are nearing their 40s, who after nearly 20 years in the same industry finally worked together, became friends and colleagues and then romantically involved.

 

In those 20 years, it seems fate was slowly working its magic wand.  Hyun Bin has said “beautiful hands”.......unknowing “son” is hand and Ye Jins instagram account is YeJinhand.

 

Who would know that while they sat together in 2015 “stealing admiring glances”, that they would need several more years to finally be ready to work together and fall in love.

 

That we the fans are “privy” to this unfolding romance.  I laughed hysterically to see Korea’s God’s Gift to Women became a young man again, staring unashamedly and unconsciously at his big crush and going poetic repeatedly in his interviews.  And how his Lady Love can make him truly smile and laughed.....a side of him never seen by those who admired him all these years.

 

Or if YeJin.....very ladylike to the end.  This is her fFIRST confirmed romance - she has said that honour will be with her future husband.  So this is truly BIG!

 

But if Hyun Bin was not too subtle in his love, YeJJin was the very picture of grace, charm and subtlety. Through these months, she gave us “crumbs” to keep us satiated.  More importantly, she allowed herself to be “fenced in” with Binnie.  That was a risk she took to nurture and protect their love.

 

Forgive this long post - so happy for then.  And for everyone who always believed in their love.  Binjin gave us all hope just when we need it.

Felt like Hyun Bin wanted to tell the world he was dating her since Metro Style slip lol.. Of course they couldnt show off more on Baeksang - everyone is watching them and they are also in front of colleagues. If they want to keep their relationship private, they wouldnt let their relationship status overshadow the show. That was why I always thought February denial was for privacy and for people to stop looking at what they were doing while they were acting in the drama. Looking at their behind the scene interviews and stuff etc are fine. If they really did just date post CLOY, that is fine. If it really isn't, they can just keep their actual timeline to themselves. We know they started out as friends first and of course this blossom for them realizing they loved each other more than friends. 

 

I really don't think HB has to say more besides the statement which I already felt was full of love. He has no problem talking about her and he talked about her most of his Esquire interview /plus the Esquire video of questions which I felt like every single answer could go back to her lol

 

I recently reread his Esquire interview the other day and it really does sound like he is planning on taking a break before working on his next project. Since it still just sounded like he was reading scripts when he did that interview. Plus the interviewer kept saying how he hasnt taken an actual long break since he was in military LOL. Yes his usual breaks are 6 months or less but does he want to almost a year break again lol. I mean he did say he wanted a long leisure break/trip before he was 40 in his August Japan interview lol. Also in the Esquire interview, he had mentioned that he also weight training while he is on break besides hanging out with friends. I mean clearly he lost weight - I just thought they were hiking and doing mountaineering activities lol. 

 

We have Son Ye Jin's birthday coming up and later APAN Star Awards (that they should both be attending?) Glad the award show got pushed now I guess lol..

 

By next Baeksang later in the year, they get to both present popularity award together

Good morning and evening BinJin all over the world!!! I wanna say the Queen has spoken! I found out about the news few hours ago and checking soompi and tapa is the first thing I did! My heart is still full!!! Oh my goshh, it's sooo loud here in Soompi! What a beautiful fireworks to greet 2021 we got from our lovebirds!!! 

 

I remember when we all started in this ship, it wasn't easy, there were pirates trying to wrecked this ship and have even tried to stop this from mooring by making fake news, dissent all the receipts BJ hinted to us all and now it is finally confirmed that this ship is sailing for real! Thank you so much guys for keeping on board this ship and never stopped fighting. They were already obvious from the get go but they managed to keep things professional. Such smart these two...Thank you for making our 2020 a reason to smile and now you opened 2021 for us with another big smile couple with a dance!!!

So to some it may just seem they have confirmed dating, but most of us realize how much they have had to overcome to reach this point and going public is not an easy decision. I'm sure it's been well thought out and I'm glad they can now see the outpouring of love and support everyone has for them. I've been reading comments across so many platforms and its so heartwarming to see the response. My heart is full.

Hi... am very new to this fandom... I enjoyed reading and get daily updates of our OTP here..
This morning, I woke up with happy tears of Dispatch breaking news! I was breathless and overwhelmed.. this is too good to be true...

I wacthed CLOY a bit late, in October 2020...That only after I made some quick research and references ensuring I picked the good quality drama. I thought 16-episodes would be time consuming. Then, I got to know that both HB & SYJ were doing TN before CLOY, their PCs were so much fun.. and they're both so loveable.. I was really sure that am gonna enjoy watching CLOY for their off screen chemistry during TN promos. 

I got really hooked... I finished 16 episodes in 4 days... I laughed and cries. I was feeling DeJavu by the strong connections of my real love life. I could feel the mixed feelings running through my veins. It's like seeing some part of me in YSR character coz yeahh... I was naturally a fun fearless work-like cow woman, until I crashed landed to this man of my life who chased over me to diff country.. sounds a bit LA grocery.. 

While I did random #binjin youtube browse, 2 weeks ago I wrote comment on Jennifer Di video.. of how CLOY chemistry and the whole story line seemed too real to be a drama script... In my delulu and still thinking the same - even after their official announcement. I always thought CLOY could be HB project to proof his love to SYJ, to win 'Nation's first love' heart!! 
 

 

I am glad my prayers are answered so quickly! Here's I copy a bit of my long comment on the video:

"Everyday, I am praying that this sudden world attention would not impact their relationship infact this will make their love stronger each and everyday. That they won't give up and keep their love alive until they are ready to tell the world. This kind of love is a gift from God, and if they denied it.. it might never come again.. They just had to believe and accept the destiny and live with it... I am wishing really hard this will turn out to be one of The Greatest Real Life Love Stories like Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, happily devoted to one another, forever...their love will keep blossoms while they both thrived in their careers. This is exactly my feeling. Since I have always known/felt their love would be confirmed one day, my mind would drift to, "But how? When? How to explain and dignify both their truly honest natures and their professional integrity as actors? They will never want to tarnish the work they have done or revisit the statements they have made publically. How will they do this? Will they actually tell us nothing to avoid all these complicated issues???" My mind would wonder.

 

And here we are, a perfectly timed (for them) reveal and explanation to carry these amazing humans into the next important chapter of their lives. I have no doubt that Dispatch worked closely with BinJin, for whatever Dispatch's motivations would be. Professional courtesy? Future productivity? Exclusive stories? Compassion? Doesn't matter to me. I'm grateful for it.

 

I accept VAST/MSTeam's timeline of friendship and love because I want to. They may have been in love for a long time before actually crossing that friendship boundary, so these timelines of the heart will always be speculation. That is simply info that will always be off limits to the public.

 

This moment was chosen carefully because there was going to need to be A moment, A reveal, AN explanation (due to respect for their fans and professional community). They had to decide when and how. Obviously both families have been made comfortable with introductions and information prior to this moment, been informed about everything. None of this would ever be done on an impulse. SYJ had to face her fear of speaking on personal matters, a 20-year fear of crossing that boundary. She obviously knew it was the right time and the right reason, but I imagine her awkward feelings are very genuine. I would also assume, as we all do, that big plans are in the works for 2021, and now they can go forward without fear or additional explanations. They can just enjoy their time, be seen out and about together if it happens, and start their new journey in the best light possible.

 

I am so happy and excited for them and feel they have handled things beautifully. Enjoy this special time, BinJin!!!

And the LA Grocery on her birthday. How could Dispatch ignore this? But now the confirmation came from both agencies and YJ herself.  The agencies did not say they are "dating", they said they developed a relationship and became lovers. So what does that tell me? #ICBM

Couldn't agree with you more, @QueenieBee  I can't remember but was it SYJ who once said in an interview years ago that she didn't really believe in love at first sight?  (She also said good looks weren't important to her hehe.  So HB's good looks are just a bonus!  Character and the ability to really listen and understand her were far more important. Actually, I believe her in that and it's a good way of looking for a life partner imo.)   Good for those for who have experienced love at first sight, but for many of us, it takes time to really know and decide to commit to a person.  Everyone's love story is different so there's no right way or wrong way to fall in love.  But I understand well the comment that they took their time and fell in love carefully.  That said, HB in particular did look very smitten even from days of TN promo.  The body language was too revealing haha.  I am guessing SYJ would have been more guarded, especially to get involved with a fellow actor celebrity.  Her selfie wall with HB during TN promo may have indicated mutual attraction, but to go from attraction to an actual relationship is something else.  But clearly HB wormed his way into her heart. And in the end, he's the one she decided to go public for and share with the world as hers.  

 

Mixing the personal with the professional is generally a risk in a relationship and can be a real test, but as we saw, they came out with flying colours.  The decision to do CLOY together was a vote of confidence by them in their working/personal relationship/friendship.  Not only did they strengthen their personal relationship through CLOY, but their love story onscreen in CLOY will always be a wonderful memento of their fantastic onscreen alchemy and a memorable marker in their careers. 

 

And yes, the pandemic meant spending a lot more or a lot less time than usual with your loved ones.  Strong relationships came out stronger; weaker ones may have fizzled.  Binjin are clearly stronger than ever after a challenging year.  I love that SYJ said she will work hard to nurture their relationship because every relationship takes hard work and she understands that. 

 

What I love about the way HB loves SYJ: how he looks at her, how he talks about her and couldn't hide his warm feelings, how much respect and admiration he has for her as an actress and how he will always cheer her on to work hard and keep accomplishing her goals (ditto her for him), how he proudly says he learnt from her as an actor.  Some men might not be so vocal in praising their partner if in the same profession, but not HB.  He's a secure and supportive partner which is always good.  I think SYJ's quality as an actor as well as a person was one of the first things that drew him to her.  HB may not be a man of many words but he seems like he really listens.  A solid, dependable guy.  Quietly, diligently doing his job while looking after his own people as he said.  That's something SYJ likely admires.

 

What I love about the way SYJ loves HB: the way she teases him lol (and he gives back good to her too), the way she eye smiles at him (I know that pic of them in Switzerland together with SYJ in purple is in character for CLOY but the way she eye smiles at him there!), and brings out his smiley, soft, funny side. Good that she finds him funny; crucial in any successful relationship!  Just her deciding to take a leap of faith with him when he pursued her, and showing him the ultimate commitment by being willing to go public with a romantic relationship for the first time in her career.  And to cap it off with a bold and shy and vulnerable and personal IG post from SYJ herself showing her love for HB, expressing gratitude to have met a good person like him says it all.  

 

So many swoonworthy moments to revisit from their past.  Let's hope for many more in the future!

The day we have been dreaming about has finally come when a confirmation of them being together was announced.  We have always known what is in our hearts and are on this ship because pf what we see, what we believe and what we feel.  Now we can confidently say- WHAT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED.  This has indeed been a wonderful journey and so glad to be a part of an amazing ship that has finally come to shore.  My very first ship (definitely my last, this is hard to top) and what an amazing ship this is!
