@Samsam Thanks for the update on HB and HJM's flight to Jordan! I am surprised the media got hold of the actual date. Hopefully because it's a chartered flight, both of them can go via a VIP passage way without having to face media/ fans. We might actually get their arrival footage in Jordan, but the Royal Jordan Film Commission. Same as what we got for the staff and crew. RE: HB's brother. I was also confused by the Taxi interview where it seems he said he has 2 brothers. But I think it might be a translation error, cuz it says "I have one brother who graduated from Seoul Uni and another who is an inspector". Could be referring to the same brother, or other older hyungs in his relatives (cuz he was saying how he has relatives who are doing well".

I kept my cards close to my chest, afraid to show my inner fears 

 

Double standards exist for women who strive to break the glass ceiling

So, I put in the blood, sweat, and tears; I toiled, I hustled; I kept on killing 

 

I speak confidently and smile brightly but I, too, get insecure and unsure

But you didn’t get scared off or intimidated; you approach me, so mature 

 

We could only interact through a monitor, a difficult challenge for us both

You truly gave me a special day to remember

 

On the day of my birth, you sweetly made such a big deal,

Stepping out of my comfort zone, my heart, you did steal

 

Rousing the crowd to go wild, you excitedly clap and cutely cheer

I meekly blush and hide, yet my happiness is exposed, oh so clear

 

I am so painfully private, I have no social media whatsoever 

But you’ve got me snapping selfies, doing things I would never

 

I’m willing to be so uncomfortably comfortable just for you

Shedding out of my shell because this is something so true

 

Changing the pep in my step and the chemistry in my careful brain

Author’s Notes: A few weeks ago, I wrote a poem through Binnie’s perspective starting from their throwback TN days entitled, "The Start Where You Stole My Heart." (I copied it again in the Spoilers to save space if you'd like to re-read, it's also back on pg. 932. That's how quickly this thread moves! 0_0). I had intended to write this corresponding poem from Jinnie’s perspective to mirror Binnie’s perspective because Bin wouldn’t be complete without Jin nor Jin without Bin. In light of the recent discussions on our forum about women “having it all” in love and career, what was interesting about writing these two poems from Binnie’s perspective first and then Jinnie’s perspective is that it was WAY easier to write from Binnie’s perspective. Binnie’s POV poem took me just one night to write while this Jinnie POV poem took me almost 3 weeks to complete. That made me think about why it took me so much longer and why I had much more difficulty trying to express Jinnie’s point of view. Yes, being a long-time HB fan vs being a recent YJ fan had something to do with it in that I'm not very familiar with YJ's works or interviews, but it was so much more than that. I think it was mainly due to me having great difficulty expressing a strong female perspective while feeling like I’m walking on eggshells. It’s very interesting that writing a female narrative even through the lens of being a female myself, I still felt like I had to be extra cautious about how I portrayed a strong female perspective. I felt like I had this moral obligation almost to meticulously portray Ye Jin as “strong” and “ambitious” without sounding “condescending,” to portray her as a woman who also wants to be girly and swept off her feet, having a crush or being happily in love without making her sound “weak” or “clingy.” I pondered and edited through every word/thought because I never realized that writing a strong female perspective requires such a delicate balance between "strong" and "soft." I wanted to do her justice because she deserves it. I wanted to portray Jinnie for both her fierce strength as a powerful actress but also portray her soft femininity of a woman who is love. I wanted her to have it all because she most likely does have it all. 

 

As far as we have come in developing strong female characters such Se Ri in CLOY and YJ’s countless other strong female roles, there still does exist that unfortunate double standard that women who are strong-willed, outspoken, intelligent, firm in her standards might be viewed or labeled by some (lesser men and jealous women) as “domineering,” “bossy,” “overly sassy,” “curt,” while men who express those same qualities are viewed or labeled as “strong,” “confident,” “bold,” a “go-getter.” You see it often in interviews with famous, successful, powerful women (such Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johannsen, Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, etc.) being asked more about her looks or her clothes instead of focusing on the strength and merit of her work quality. I’m glad that Ye Jin never compromised her character nor backed down from her fearless work choices in order to make herself smaller, quieter, or try to fit herself into the narrow patriarchal box of what “success” and “femininity” is supposed to mean. She defied all of those narrow definitions and fiercely carved out her own badaS$ definition of what it means to be a successful female in a patriarchal Asian culture. More power to her! 

 

I’m also glad that HB is not that lesser man who boxed her in or held onto to his preconceived notions (that she is might be too serious or intense due to her Melo roles) of what he thought she might be like. I’m glad that he was not intimidated and scared off by YJ’s strength but rather was in total awe and admiration of her strong qualities. He admires that she freely speaks her mind, is fun and bubbly, and is so persistent in her pursuit of excellence in her craft. I love that for a man of such few words, the words that HB consistently chose to repeat over and over again in interviews was how much he wanted to work with YJ again and how inspiring, creative, and hardworking she is as an actress. It’s endearing that in those TN interviews, it’s the hosts who push HB to call YJ “pretty” which he shyly agrees with because (duh!) it’s obvious that she’s gorgeous. However, the first compliments that consistently come out of HB's mouth always had to do with YJ’s talent and skills as an actress. He was smitten with the strength of her character, the warmth and brightness of her personality before he even dared to even look into her deceptive, smiley eyes. He saw far beyond her skin-deep beauty and could not stop staring ever since. It's hilarious to me that YJ was actually the one who complimented HB's looks of "soft skin and shiny hair" before complimenting his acting talent. I loved that she flipped the gender script! She is such a troll, love her!  

 

I’m also glad that YJ sees beneath others’ perception of HB being too serious, “no jam,” and a stickler for “perfection” to appreciate that he is disciplined, a gentlemen, a patient listener, and is also so persistent in his pursuit of excellence in his craft. It is beautiful that the initial spark in their “close friendship” is one of mutual respect and shared passion, of seeing each other beyond face value and assumptions. They rise to each other’s high standards and challenge each other to be better together. That’s why their (practically) joint BAA thank you speech was so telling and precious: “WE, as a unit, will continue working hard to pay back fans’ love.” That is why even if they are married, they will keep encouraging and supporting each other in pursuing their passions. 

 

This is why I will keep shipping this power couple. They each took what some other people might have written off as weaknesses/character flaws and appreciated these traits as powerful strengths. Individually, they are already amazing but together, they are simply explosive magic. It’s funny that they both thought of each other as being too serious or too intense only to discover that they’re both dorky goofballs who can make each other laugh like there’s no tomorrow and that YJ can draw out this selective side of HB. This is why these two can so easily get lost in their own little world because in their eyes, all they see is each other, for everything that they are.  

 

This is why drought or no drought, we’re going to keep making it rain candy for these two because I refuse to believe that they don’t see what we all see when they are together.

@Samsam usually chartered flights have their own tarmac and it will be different from that where commercial flights land.  They will still  have to undergo customs and immigration as that has nothing to do whether the flight is commercial or chartered.  Don't know how the set up is in Jordan, though.  Unless someone has a tip as to the flight details it will be difficult to get arrival photos.  But then again, if there is a will, there is a way.  I also read somewhere mandatory quarantine in Jordan is 8 days and not 14 like it is here in US.

@RiRiGaGa  My heart is so full as I read your poem, and even more so your long and meaningful Author's Note. You know, we are all Binjin shippers here and there's an element of Delulu in our shipping. But there's also such a strong DOSE of reality in Binjin and their relationship, esp in their precious and close friendship, even beyond the romance we see, that make us fall for them so deeply, and cheer for them so passionately. The more I watch their videos, interviews, what friends and industry people say about them, the more I appreciate and love them for who they are, kind and humble, passionate and perfectionist, fun-loving and dorky, principled and honest, having deep love for their family and friends, and so much more. And to see these 2 wonderful people finding each other, becoming close friends and confidante, and later (we believe) become lovers and a couple, is just such a fulfilling experience to go through with them. It's like watching a real life drama unfold before our eyes.

As I was reading your poem and your note at the end, one thing also struck me as you were explaining the difficulty you had writing from a strong-woman's perspective based on YJ's viewpoint. It's funny that both YJ and HB has kinda been judged based on certain prejudices and expectations of how a "strong/ good" woman or man should appear. YJ's strong-will, outspokenness and firm standards are seen by some as bossy or too sassy, while HB's soft-spoken ways, shyness and "no jam" appearance, is seen by some as being "emotionally weak", boring, and not bold enough as a man. But the two of them see beyond appearances, and know that these very traits are actually strengths, not weaknesses, and that there are also hidden beyond these appearances another side of Jin and Bin's personality. And so, they brought the other "best side" of each other out in the open, Binnie became more funny and open and relaxed during interviews, and Jinnie became more feminine, soft and cute (not she is not like that in reality but it becomes more apparent). 

 

I love every word in your poem, and also everything you wrote in your Author's Note. So it's so difficult to highlight what I love best. But here are the few lines in the poem that made my heart smiled the most.

- I love the first part which shows the first romance developing between Binjin, all the smiles and jokes and touch-feely interactions

- I love the reference to Notting Hill, one of my favorite romcom movie.  YJ is really also just a girl, who wants to fall in love, and I believe now has really fallen in love

- And finally, I just love love love the last parts of the poem that shows how our "strong woman" YJ let down her guard, and was won over by "shy and quiet" HB, cuz really, she was destined to fall for him, and he was destined to love her.

He didn't receive his masters based on this info, it says "2009~". Meaning, he was/is in the process of attaining his masters. Maybe he dropped out to keep acting before he enlisted. Maybe he finished and VAST didn't bother updating this since he's nearly 40 and his fans probably don't care as much anymore.

Also, the most likely reason it took 8 years is because not every class is available online and he likely didn't take a full load like normal students. Filming affects location, hours, and dates of availability. There's no way to be physically present for class if he was filming dramas or movies and when class is on M/T/W/TH/F's. Korean universities are very strict on attendance.

@TotoroSYlast week when the news about the Hollywood offer came out I remember sending you a DM pouring out my sentiments.  I questioned for a moment why I am on this ship.  You allayed my doubts and made me realize why I love this couple so very much.  As a relatively new shipper, I needed that dose from one of the pillars of this ship.  Most of them were mentioned by @RiRiGaGa  Pardon me for indulging and sounding like a fan girl but this forum is very lucky with all the talent, diversity and woman power on here!  As BinJin fans and supporters we have many platforms to choose from but this forum is truly special,  Thank you to each and everyone for making this ship as strong as it can be.  We have the best couple to ship, bar none!

As always your poem and beautiful words , touched my heart , soul, liver, kidney, lungs and reached my eyes at the end. I felt those words hit hard, all the unspoken struggles of "strong" women... how jinnie stayed true to herself and never compromised her values, but that she is just like any woman is soft when happy in love... and only a secured, worthy and discerning man like binnie succeeded in breaking down Jinnie's walls and now we have the greatest korean real love story we've ever known (accdg to my delulu mind!). If only they make it official already so we don't have to make delulu disclaimers every frickin' time!!!

Even if that's the case, I just really love how the people in this forum bring the best in each other and in BinJin. I'm grateful for having you fangirling sisters (and maybe brothers) in my life. Bravo @RiRiGaGa! I was gonna pick  portions of your poem, but this adjumma has a hard time copying and pasting using my phone, so i decided just to favorite the entire poem hahaha! Who knew that water bottle, electric cord, monitor and groceries can actually be words in a poem that would be so romantic?! Only us BinJin lovers would know. You did well girl, you captured everybody's sentiments!

 

It's the weekend and I am feeling very blessed to survive my first week back at work. And I also count as a blessing having this forum and the sisterhood (and some brotherhood), where we could be ourselves and share our love for our OTP.

With Binnie heading off to Jordan come July 13 and possibly  staying for 3 months, we may get little to no news at all. Hopefully there will be some update from Jinnie during this period, especially on Hollywood or any upcoming project.

 

In the months to come let's continue ro keep each other company here. Let's share candies if there are any, sweep away crumbs where we can find them and continue believing in this ship and the eventuality we all are craving.

Hello blackbeannoodle and thanks for the input! I'm not saying I can't learn any additional information (I'm always thirsting for additional knowledge) but I actually have 34 years of experience in academia (and counting ) so I'm very familiar with the educational process as a whole. It happens to be one of my wheelhouses . That's one of the reasons HB's educational background got my attention. I might add that the U.S. has strict post-secondary guidelines as well (too many to go into detail) but one in particular is named Satisfactory Academic Progress (better known as SAP). This is a BINJIN forum so I won't use up all the pages droning on about U.S. criteria.  

 

However, I do want to say if you make the argument that he has not received an MA based on how VAST has worded his educational background in the English version, you would also have to say it is not clear that he received his BA (undergraduate degree in 2004) as shown and supported on various sites. What it sounds like is that VAST needs to do a better job of maintaining its online database and/or translations so that the validity of the site can be trusted and not questioned. Otherwise, why offer profile information or any other information for that matter at all?

 

I think it was an Esquire interview where HB elaborated on his educational background but I've read so many things that it could have been some other interview. If I eventually come across it, I will post it or maybe it will be a case where I imagined it (although I don't think so).

2010 - Once he finished filming Late Autumn in March, he was in Hawaii in March. Guess he could have done it between April-August. However, Sept was Come Rain Come Sunshine filming for 2 weeks, then he was in Pusan Film Festival in Oct , before being even more busy with SeGa Then once he finally confirmed military in January 2011 as he passed his exam. He also did narration for Tears in Africa sometime during SeGa. Then he was busy working on CFs and promotion in Berlin in February before he went into military in March 7. unless he continued post military 2013-2014. He is less busy then lol.. I was looking at 2010 yesterday for other reasons. So that's why I know in detail as I wrote his sightings and film schedule down lol. 

 

Continuing school 2005-2007 I can see definitely happening lol. I graduated in theatre at university. (not acting) I knew a lot of actors. So I know how actors can do gigs while in school but they normally only do it during their breaks especially a tv show or a movie especially when you've a bigger role. Can't imagine doing MA especially on a busy film schedule lol. Unless MA in Korea doesn't take that long to do. Finishing off his BA after taking a break for Shower is easier to do. He said that he focused the next 3 years just on his acting career (post Shower) 

 

He just never mentioned he was still going to school in those interviews back then unless he didn't want to mention it. Maybe he should have also been given the cow nickname lol. He's more busier than Gong Yoo lol

HB spoke on this many times and he never explained it fully but as a long time fan from what i understood is that HB's father didnt want him to become an actor at first, so HB had to negociate with him  about  his education. Parents are always worried about that when their children choose a profession that doesnt require high level education so his father probably wanted him to study and have a good resume so the deal he made with his dad was that he would act and continue his studies and he would go to the highest level no matter what. He got his first roles before he finished school but never stopped his studies. He finished University around the time he completed Kim Sam soon but then he went back again to get a BA in theater and film. He fulfilled his goals while remaining a good son. Now he is CEO of a management and media company. Seriously as a parent i would be so so proud to have this amazing son. He has achieved everything now, only love, marriage and children are left to complete.

 

 

 

By the way, I still think SYJ will travel to Jordan in secret lol.

I can't believe I am agreeing to this! My spoiled brat of a cat was on a brawl the other day coz of some fan war (I really thought I raised an alpha and even sent him to karate, boxing and scratching classes but he went home limping.) Did he lose? He just said he's a BINJIN shipper and ought to have class so he stopped mid fight.

Now we're packing coz he heard Bin-ssi will fly to Jordan on the 13th! You do all remember that we will go on foot to follow Bin-ssi. We will swim the deepest ocean and climb the highest mountain just to reach you ahjussi!  Don't worry guys. We will be on the lookout in case a certain someone will be flying in, too.   I will send my cat to snap some photos while I will remain with Bin-ssi (ehem) in case he needs someone to wipe his forehead (ehem).

Weh? I can be a PA on training. V@st will have an opening. 

 

Meanwhile, to some who are starting to feel down and sad because of this temporary separation, this isn't drought.  Drought was mid February to May before Baeksang. That's drought when we really had nothing and trust me, it's difficult to eat crumbs. Like stale crumbs but we persisted. Now, we have so many fresh candies from BAA BTS, to the liking spree and the CFs. And a possibility of an airport candies. Munch on those while we leave you with this song. "Don't stop believing. Hold on to that feeling.." BINJIN ship is sailing.  Fighting!

@Felizak@t if Bin-ssi is taking a chartered flight, then his car will go straight in the tarmac and he doesn’t have to go to the drop off point in the airport. and if a certain someone decides to tag along (whether to send him off or that person decides to join), she can do it freely because less people will see 

 

that’s just my mind playing tricks and my heart being hopeful  

 

while Bin-ssi is shooting in Jordan, the other half will be busy with her english lessons.
