Yes chingu! That's it! We Sri Lankans call it ambarella (ඇඹරැල්ලා)! The scientific name is spondias dulcis or you can call it June plum. This is how the unripe fruit looks like. Should be peeled before cooking!!!

Kedondong juice is nice with asam boi! I think not many coffee shops sell this drink here but rather popular and readily available in Penang kopitiams...I think in Cantonese they call it Sa Lei...The time I had this in KL was a small kopitiam in Cheras like almost 15 years back...

Hi everyone! @joccu, @MayanEcho, @Ameera Ali, @Wuzetian @agenth, @partyon @twinkle_little_star and everyone! The food on this thread is the best! I think I am gaining weight just by looking at those mouth watering dishes.

 

@Wuzetian You should watch the drama Love ft Marriage and Divorce. It is so bad it's good. Never a dull moment in this drama.

@Min2206 Gosh, I just learnt something new today. I only knew of this before being informed of BTS. I think this 'Butter' is my first BTS song. 

 

 

 

@partyon and @Ameera Ali: Sombrero or not, weird outfit or not, my allegiance is with Sung Hoon till the drama ends. I will accept him, good, bad or ugly outfits.  You girls, better not make fun of my boy. (On a side note it looks like lungs and bronchi)     He is looking ghostly white !

I called it ambarella, you eat it on its own or juice with a piece of plum. 

Is a bit sourish.

Just as @Wuzetian pointed out ... we take them as pickled condiments.   Either sell by packet or by weight.
And some made it into juice.

Hello! Do share your food pix too! Think for me, dramas should be exciting enough. And they should be kicking some a** and flying with beautifully choreographed sword fighting...Time is precious so want to invest in those that will bring joy and not barfing later...Haha...

 

@sadthe1st Missed out on your reply. Do you all call Otahs there? Guess it can be made with different fish variety never cooked this at home so no idea. But taste wise and style will be different from region to region. Penang's style is like this.

Never heard of. I am a fan of fruits so i am sure i like it.

Mine is the recent barf drama, Love feat Marriage and Divorce is basically Original barf drama , at least in my times haha.

  @LeftCoastOppa like @Ameera Ali said the first season of love, marriage and divorce season 1 was the start of barf drama(too much cheating and the puke relationship between the stepmom and her stepson.) there were lot more. But that was start of the barf drama.

So now for me barf drama is were there is too much cheating or just too puke relationships.

Both have their distinctive taste and texture. Muar's is slightly dry with smokey flavour while Penang's is steamed retaining its creamy flavours. Me as long as not that spicy I'll definitely enjoy it! Have you tried our neighbours version? Thai and Cambodia?
