In my opinion, that’s the reason why he decided to join the military, not because his dad required him to enlist.

He lost his eldest son and he is a caring father so definitely RJH being in the military is not something that his dad wants.

Could it be that he joined the military because it is mandatory?  Isn't Eun Dong there for 9 years because he has to?  I guess RJH was still a student when he was in Switzerland, and his brother's death coincided with the time when he would have to join.

@Jloves thanks for posting the picture of your fave scene - the side by side contrast between SR's conversation with her mother and RJH's words to her made me realize SR said she "felt sorry for breathing" and then RJH soon after said he's "grateful the person I love is still breathing." - OMG.

Honestly I can see why SYJ cries outside her scenes - her character must have had an emotionally (not financially) difficult childhood and as any good actress she immerses herself into her role... having RJH by her side must be so overwhelmingly positive in and for her life.  It's probably easy for SR to grow up dismissing the idea of having children altogether seeing how she was treated but eh look at her now, "life truly is unexpected and full of surprises" ; )

Did she?! Is there an article about it?? I Knew It!! I said so HERE . (If y'all haven't watched that movie, please do. I highly recommend it.

No, there's no article but I figured that one day they would have to refer to it on the show one way or another as the quote might be wrongly attributed to CLOY and not the The Lunchbox movie. There were already plenty of social media posts quoting the line accompanied with pictures of Se Ri and RJH.

Hahahaha.

They never mention about SD’s dad right?

Hmmmmmm

But I don’t think so.

Yes, please. Let's not go there. It's the cheesiest of all cheesy tropes, next to amnesia. But it's so tempting, right? Especially since SD's mom is supposed to be widowed (or believed to be widowed). :joy:

What I really want to get resolved soon, as in right away on the first scene after the opening credits of episode 13, is the nagging mystery behind the relationship between Se Ri and her stepmom. We already know that Se Ri was abandoned by her stepmom in the beach. From this we can surmise that this caused Se Ri to develop her fear of intimacy that makes her tend to withdraw in her own relationships when things begin to get emotionally deeper. I feel that before this issue gets resolved, the director won't show us kissing/intimacy scenes between Se Ri and RJH bec he knows that people over at Soompi will grumble over the lack of resolution of this issue. LOL

Seriously, I think this is the side of the relationship equation that is holding Se Ri back from getting intimate with RJH. Avoiding making special memories in SK that will only remind her of RJH when he's gone is just a manifestation of it.  His part of the relationship is pretty much ironed out. The poor North Korean guy already confessed that he wants to marry and have a future with her. He has also demonstrated countless times that his heart is pure and that he is always there for her. Heck, he even crossed the line that could have put the two Koreas at risk of reigniting a war (yeah, more than this show as the conservative party would want everyone to believe). :D If that's not love, I don't know what is. And that face?!? How can one even say no to a national treasure?! Must RJH take another bullet to prove his undying love towards Se Ri?

I think that once Se Ri finds out that her stepmom did not intentionally abandon and make her feel unwanted and worthless growing up, she would begin to shed off that insecurity and allow herself to be vulnerable with RJH and be loved by him in every possible way - including in the bedroom. So, director-nim, please get this part of the story over and done with so the show can progress to what everyone has been waiting for. :D

In the CLOY Episode 13 preview, YSR says to RJH “I am going to remember you, no matter what happens.”

I hope I am just over thinking. But this doesn’t give me a good vibe...

Maybe she will be in a car crash soon and this statement will be put to test... like concussion but still remember RJH coz his face is just totally her type?!

Anyway, the show’s original genre was supposed to be a romance comedy... Things should be funny even in the hospital  *wishfully thinking of another kiss to jolt her memory back*

Anything funny, but amnesia is a BIG NO NO. It's too lame for any drama in the year 2020. I think kdrama has already used up all magic from that.

Yeah, I don’t think the twins are for CLOY anyway. I am certain they have shot some scenes for the finale in Switzerland. They were in Switzerland for almost 2 weeks and we have only seen a glimpse of them. It doesn’t make any sense if they don’t have anything recorded.

And please no amnesia. That’s just a lazy script writing.

Members of the elite or those from the highest songbun (some form of caste system) in NK are exempted from military conscription that's why RJH was able to study abroad at a normal age people around the world go to university. Otherwise, at 17 he would have been drafted as a compulsory enlistment into military service for the next 10 years.

Also, having at least one of Papa Ri's sons in the military means that younger generations of their family are secured of their elite status and the economic/political/social entitlements that they currenly enjoy in NK.

Thanks - didn't know that!!   Do you know about the practical realities of someone like RJH deciding to live in Switzerland?  Is it a situation where he would have to split his time between the two places?

Daebak article

Which runway picks will K-drama actress Son Ye-jin wear in the last few episodes of Netflix’s Crash Landing on You – and how much do her outfits cost?

Fashion is an important aspect of the hit drama, which shows the stark differences in clothing between South Koreans and their northern neighbours

I couldn't agree more. I seriously want to know WHY DID YSR's MOM LEFT HER THERE? WHAT'S THE REASON? & here I thought that they will show us the reason in episode 12 but only YSR's side. I just hope they will reveal it soon in the next episode, but I got the feeling that it will all be revealed in episode 14 because of that spoiler from Netflix US synopsis. sigh.

So here's some beautiful gifs I wanna share again

I had wanted a scene were JH is fuming or fainting over Se Ri's legs, over her choice of short skirts... but in-turn the writer-nim gave us scenes of Se Ri being jealous of a fully dressed man being admired by the ladies!

It's always Se Ri exclaiming how dashing he looks in those suits... when is JH going to do that to Se Ri (without her having to ask for it)???

North Korean does not simply /decide/ to live abroad, unless for "official" reasons.. He could study there before, but now he's past studying age... Also, the Kim regime is known to call North Korean youngsters studying abroad to get back home...

Perhaps the writer can choose 'official route', but realistically, if he's abroad only to be with Seri, it can endanger him, her, and anyone involved with them. Personally, I think 'RJH defection' would be a quite realistic solution. Why?

1. Permanent SK citizenship for him.

2. He and his family is quite rich, so actually it's not that difficult for him and entire family to pay brokers to defect. Why his family too? RJH has been very firm on his decision to go back to the North. Imo, it's not about him feeling particularly patriotic, but he's thinking about the repercussion and responsibilities for his own family. He loves his parents and is portrayed as a filial son.

3. Seri's defection will cause an uproar since the drama has been under scrutinized for violating South Korean's National Security Law, such move from the writer would "end" her and the entire crew.

Idk about the other ducklings or ahjummas, but I don't really wish for massive defection. For me, if they can stay alive and continue their peaceful lives, it'd be a perfect happy ending for me...though they may not be able to see Seri and Jeong-hyeok.
