@dreamerofRIRI Thanks for the link. I guess the script called for a french kiss in that movie. I doubt that’s the case for cloy though so he acted based on emotion 

 

Cloy is for PG13 so too much “hotness” is not allowed  But.....HB still managed to sneak that in

The fact that you didn’t even make a comment about Hwang Jung Min who was there too...a married man since 2004 (who btw married to his long time gf that he’ve known since high school) and still going strong until now and if he’s there too hanging out with jdg...so why didn’t his wife stop him.Please kindly leave this forum and go ship YJ with KNG...we don’t care tbh HB got enough love here already.

Well, his role in Late Autumn was that of a gigolo. French kissing was a given. However, in CLOY, he’s supposed to exude someone who was pure and innocent and yet we got more than a PG-14 albeit only on close up from dedicated fans who took the effort to dissect and produce clearer images than what was presented in the show.

Hey, @Binjin2Ri! I can confirm that HB did in fact french kiss Han Ji Min in "Hyde, Jekyll, Me" and he did french kiss Tang Wei in their indie movie, "Late Autumn."

 

Now allow me to explain the context behind those kisses though. HB and HJM had very lackluster chemistry in "Hyde, Jekyll, Me" (seriously the only work of his that I feel romantic chemistry was lacking) but this was purely due to the poorly-written script and frustrating storytelling and not HB's acting performance. He, of course, was the only saving grace of the show. So yes, even though he did french kiss HJM in that show, the feeling behind it was definitely missing because you did not really root for the pairing at all due to the poorly developed plot. Seriously, the only reason the 2 kisses in this show were good was because HB took charge and is an excellent kisser in general so the show probably needed him to pull up its low ratings by utilizing the star power of his hard-working lips alone.

 

I watched all the BTS for this show and during the filming of this french kiss, you can tell that HB was very uncomfortable/awkward in real life about the kiss and only displayed emotion for it when the cameras were rolling. HB and HJM pretty much break apart pretty quickly when "Cut!" is called. After one of their kiss scenes (not the one where they french kissed, just regular), they broke off, did not look or say anything, and walked in opposite directions almost like they had to quickly shake it off. Mind you, HJM,  like SYJ, had also co-starred with HB in a movie ("The Fatal Encounter," his first return project after military service and first period piece) before they filmed "Hyde, Jekyll, Me" together. HB and HJM are also the same age (just like him and SYJ) but unfortunately the similarities stop there. His BTS with HJM were pretty awkward and did not display a lot whole of closeness or comfort. I mean they were cordial to each other but you can tell that HB was just there to do a job with her rather than them having much chemistry on-or-off the screen. He did not really talk/laugh much in these BTS. Definitely not being touchy-feely, giggling, or cracking jokes like with Jinnie in their BTS. I think he couldn't wait to get this project over with since it was the most disappointing one quality-wise in his entire drama career. HJM fans, please note that I am not trying to bash her or anything and I have liked her in other dramas. I don't have anything against her. I just think the main problem was that her character was not written well in this show so it was pretty bland to witness their forced chemistry. HJM also seems like she is sort of quiet and reserved in real life just like our HB can be (if walls aren't broken down) so they did not seem to have a ton of goofy fun together like we see when he's with SYJ in their BTS and it's not only b/c they're the same age. Seriously, most fans felt so bad that this project was his first big, highly anticipated drama comeback post military. We were scared that HB would not return back to Drama land for a long time after the disappointing outcome of this drama that had so much potential but didn't execute properly. But no worries, HB bounced back big time with Memories of the Alhambra. It's one of those embarrassing jobs on your resume that you wish you could not claim but you have to. 

 

Now regarding Tang Wei and Hyun Bin's kiss in "Late Autumn," the reason why they french kissed was because in the movie, HB played a Korean male gigilo/escort role so it was literally within his character's job description to be extremely skilled at kissing...among other adult activities *ahem*. Lol And of course, HB as we know, is super dedicated to his acting craft and is an incredible actor, so naturally, his hard-working lips again pulled off the role perfectly. FYI, his kiss with Tang Wei (who is a terrific Chinese actress and had won the Baeksang Award that year for Best Actress for this movie. I think she is actually the first and only non-Korean actress to have ever won a Baeksang award), is for real one of the raciest, LONGEST, and most passionate kisses I have ever seen in K-drama/movie history! Seriously, the kiss was LITERALLY over TWO FULL MINUTES LONG!   (Yes, I did time it because it was seriously so long that I became curious lol). I mean they legit ate each other's faces off like they were two severely starving people at a Las Vegas buffet.  Their chemistry was so strong in that movie that there were dating rumors about them during the release of the movie and Tang Wei traveled back and forth to SK after the movie to purchase a residence in South Korea so ppl naturally speculated that she was dating HB at the time. Plot twist though, Tang Wei was actually dating and ended up marrying the director of "Late Autumn" instead. She and HB were just good colleagues.

 

For real though, if anyone ever had doubts about HB's kissing abilities, go watch his "Late Autumn" kiss with Tang Wei and you will undoubtedly become a believer in his skills. The man can seriously kiss with unbelievable passion! Literally fanning myself just thinking about that 2-3 min kiss again. Whoo! However, this was just great practice for the future Mrs. Kim (SYJ, ya lucky dog! ) 

 

Fear not, BInJin shippers, his french kiss with our one and only SYJ in CLOY is still HB's best onscreen kiss because it was gentle, passionate, and of course, so satisfying in the context of their epic love story. With Tang Wei, they played two lost, lonely souls who needed to find solace in each other, so their kiss was more raw, desperate, and tragic rather than romantic. If you watch the movie (which I highly recommend, the acting is terrific and you know for sure that Tang Wei is already married so she's definitely not a threat lol), the context of their kiss is incredibly sad. 

 

So there ya go folks, his french kiss with Jinnie in CLOY was not his first one captured on film but it is definitely his most meaningful one.
