I saw ep 12 last night after work.
-Cute how Lee Yeon was trying to impress the parents. His idea of good looking suits until the boring but conservative brown one was approved. The little present to show his wealth---the CAR OMG. Then when advised to keep answers short and honest. He was TOO much. Lol any parents would be like---no education, no job yikes?! Only he loves our daughter but somehow he has money. I did like them all looking at cute baby pics of Ji Ah.
-Ji Ah's reunion with parents was sweet. The fact mom said we will always recognize you and them being sorry for being away "in resting/sleeping mode" . Or that he wrote that note thanks to Lee Yeon that one time he got out of his rest. Wow.
-Ji Ah's colleagues doing research on Imoogi for Lee Yeon (their recruitment) was cute to help battle him. If it were me, it would be hard and weird to take to be honest learning about past lives and your connections then and now.
-Finally Ji Ah's boss making the move on the restaurant widow owner. Cute. I loved her kind "free food" to Lee Yeon and Ji Ah when they were at the restaurant.
-Imoogi asking for a date. Very much dictating things and what she wears etc. Ack do you really like her? You just like the idea of her and she was sacrifice and has a part of you.
-Rots that Lee Yeon finds out that he was PART of the problem to release Imoogi.
-Vet not wanting to be a burden on Lee Yeon asking to be killed by Imoogi. Imoogi intrigued that he can talk to animals. Dang chilling.
-Lee Rang ahhh Lee Rang when Yuri was hypnotized by Imoogi to harm him. Gosh the back story of her being rescued, eating jokpal, and him teaching her how to defend herself. She used those exact moves on him. So sad. The little boy better at giving care to Lee Rang than her (but due to his mom's injuries from step dad) So sad why HE knew how to take care of injuries. He knows Lee Yeon and Lee Rang are Foxes.
Going to be on hold as we wait for the battle and final 4 episodes for this drama.
Will Imoogi or Lee Yeon and friends win?
Will Lee Rang be ok?
What about Ji Ah ?

@chickfactor @Sleepy Owl Yes the actress Baek Jini as Tanashiri was great. I first saw her in 2014-2015 Pride and Prejudice and then later in Jugglers 2017-2018. She is great.
OMG @Sleepy Owl The pic you have of Tal Tal as MVP ---Yeah I totally love a smart man. Though I have not watched 45-48, he make a hard choice indeed family or country. Definitely not easy and makes me appreciate him MORE. Not only is he handsome, smart, athletic, he is righteous and wise.
So last night I got to add in more episodes after doing my usual WED drama rotation were done.
I caught ep 42-44.
-I know from all that Wang Yoo is not dead but at the point I saw end of 44 , Ki is told he is dead by Tal Tal
-Maha is poisoned by the venom of Empress Dowager and to see his confusion when Wang Yoo told him killing only me and Ki will not avenge your mom. You must add Bayan and Empress Dowager.
-Maha being abused to frame Ki and using Lady Yom to do it, dang. Ki was smart to say the child cannot talk but knows who hurts them. So when passed to her, he burst out crying was so smart.
-Glad that KI is FINALLY onto the Empress. To grant Lady Yom life to say later that Maha is NOT Tanashiri's bio son. They tell the Empress that Lady Yom said the Empress Dowager got Maha hurt. (Well played, Lady Yom is not mistrusted by the Empress and ok, Empress lets known to Ki that she is behind Ayu's poisoning stupidly thinking Ki cannot figure it out).
-Ayu liking his hyung Maha and to have Toghon outrightly be unkind to Maha is sad. Granted he had so much hate for his "adopted"/fake bio mom, still to him it is still his son.
-Bang Shin Woo knowing that Wang Yoo is the dad of Maha and going back to Koryo to watch Maha with him
(Poor Wang Yoo not knowing his son with his beloved Seung Nyang is Maha.)
The script having both Ki and Wang Yoo as people the baby NATURALLY wants to be with soooo telling to remind us that those are his real parents.
-Toghon in his rage, hallucinations and delusions fueled by alcohol with the voices he THINKS he hears is crazy scary. When he killed the general for losing (come on it was like what 2k of his troops to 20K of the enemy with no reinforcements no DUh he was going to lose--he is outnumbered. Plus the enemies have explosives as we know Wang Yoo sells to all Yuan enemies)
-Kolta further fanning the fuels of discord with Nyang with Toghon who initially is adamant Nyang is not that way. But like anything when constantly told to you the lie can become the truth the MORE it is said to you.
-Yon Feisu having Nyang tell her that Wang Yoo was ok and status, her acknowledgement was nice. Also Nyang appreciated the money from profits to fuel her way to power for the famines (Tal Tal approved her actions as long as she did not collude with selling to the enemy --makes sense). She did more for the people than Bayan and Toghon. Both are draining the coffers and in a waging battles but not addressing the peoples issues of lack of food.
-When Dok Man told Bool Hwa---we are people with no country. Bool Hwa was upset with him saying that was his last time helping Ki. But later they realized his words. When they found out Wang Yoo sold supplies to the enemies of Yuan. She was like--but I am a consort of Yuan. My allegiance is to Yuan. They are countryless with Koryo abandoning them at the court is true, then in Yuan Court they are just foreign blood not full blooded Mongol as they are reminded.
-Smart of Ki to tell her alliances when they were turning their backs on her to not defend Wang Yoo, she told them that Maha was not even REAL royal Mongol blood with Toghon. At least Toghon's other son (hers) is half Mongol and is LEGIT son of Toghon. Timing is EVERYTHING when you need to have your trump card. This was IT the timing for her.
-Tal Tal saving Ki when they were going to hang "Wang Yoo" and with Eunuch Bang and loyal Moo Song having people say Ki saved us giving us food to fight the famine. (We know Ki did it without anyone knowing. So the fact that they were saying it was not the doing of her alliance but of Tal Tal. ) YESHHHHH thanks Tal Tal. He seeing how Toghon is and his Uncle Bayan is as well, he knows that he needs SOMEONE who is still worrying about the people even if she is having power struggles.
Ok glad that are down to the wire and I got caught up to ep 44 last night.
Phew!

-Cool that she told she knew who Imoogi was directly to hold him at the company welcome party for him
(NICE I was wondering why she was very ATTENTIVE to him and his movements, I felt that she figured out he was suspicious and Imoogi as LY warned he is VERY close.
-Ji Ah seeing her parents as they were released , how could they not age? (So being stuck there they did not age?)
-The Vet courting Yuri was cute. Pretending LY place is his and when caught--well his "su casa es mi casa" lol was cute., True LY home is good as his own.
-LR getting step dad of his reincarnated dog (despite the child saying I need to go home) He couldn't stomach the abuse he was getting. To hear that the mom left him to this mean /abusive step dad. He is better with the Vet (so sweet and affectionate glad he was there with Yuri). Yuri couldn't be bothered by the little boy.
-Curious how they will fight Imoogi. Imoogi was right to tell the now deceased Traitor Hye Rong (CEO tv station) to NOT underestimate LY
-Can I say I love UI Ong ---he cheers on LY despite his wife grandma/Tiluipa (she has affection for LY) so cool she told him where Ji Ah's parents were located. (She may have the bark/bite she does care for LY.)

I finally saw ep 6.
Thanks my friend @chickfactor writing stuff for those not watching. I have to admit you hit on the points I was thinking of and very kind of you to update.
@monalisa Yup the car accidents in MAJORITY of dramas . Sigh.
@qqbr21 I hope Lee Ji Ah's character Soo Ryeon can BEAT her evil hubby. I love the actor who is Dan Tae but his role - good chance to be evil. Seo Jin (that actress Kim So Yeon ) is a legend at evil characters. In real life she is such a doll and very sweet.
@lilcrash I agree that was interesting and sad that Secretary Yoon is no longer in the mix. He had a HEART and helped his boss wife and showed a conscience. He knew his ex boss is vengeful. I mean, he killed his current wife's hubby. Then switches his wife's baby with an ill one. Sends off the bio daughter to orphanage, then gets adopted or her bone marrow and then shipped back to Korea to live a hard life. Life would have it she is back as a tutor. She lies about her age and then gets into the prestigious Arts School and then is vilified for needing to earn money and lied about her age/credentials. Lying is never good but the residents at Hera Palace are despicable. Also thanks for telling about Running Man appearance of the three women leads.
@yellowreign Awww thanks. Yes, when I read your thoughts I agreed. Everyone has annoying people. The fact Seo Jin at the dinner table was irritated by her sis. I mean I cannot get any sympathy for her at all. Then her harrassed hubby who left his first love for HER. Dang he is hounded for not being good enough and lacking in their eyes. No wonder he is not happy. Seo Jin is playing with fire thinking that Dan Tae is better. Yeah he is seducing you has power, prestige and money. But he is an evil guy. Then again Seo Jin is NO angel herself. They deserve each other.
Glad that Eugene's character got help from Soo Ryeon to buy Anna Lee's old place before the redevelopment plans are released.
I just go for the roller coaster ride in every episode. I am sad that Soo Ryeon no longer has Secretary Yoon. She is going to be found out and her hubby Dan Tae uugggggh is so evil. I cannot blame her for doing what she did to start revenge. She needs help. Without Secretary Yoon what is she going to do?
Dr. Ha --glad this week he protected Oh Yoon Hee and gave her an alibi (not lying and truthful). In a way I am glad Seo Jin found out he helped Yoon Hee with the 100K. (Come on you know she would find out eventually. Seo Jin is not ONE to not say certain things. Like she is KIND to drop charges, AS IF.I am surprised Yoon Hee did not wise up and think about it. Seo Jin doesnt' have any KINDNESS in her.

Still on catch up watched ep 35-41 over last weekend and rest of last week.
Gosh ok I can see what others said @partyon after ep 39/ ep 40 I am kind of losing interest too in the plot as well. But I will PERSERVERE as well. Since others before me wrote great recaps already. I will just write some thoughts.
-YESH Love Tal Tal. He is the savior in the drama right now for me. The fact he found out that Nyang stole the treasure and he knew she looked through his stuff. He didn't tell his uncle she took the treasure but is watching over her. Or his checking in on his Cousin the new Empress. He knew she was the mastermind of of poisoning Ayu. Dang his brains are sexy. I loved how he knew quickly the kids singing the song was the key to finding the treasure.
-Nyang now finished her revenge over El Temur, the younger brother and the former Empress who all died. I agree that it seems like I will see Banyan go for more power but unlike El Temur a former warlord handled Politics well which the latter does not. I can see that. He called Nyang being someone to watch and is he NOT wrong.
-Nyang is initially loyal to Bayan as she is his foster daughter and all what he did for her. But once he installs his niece and wants to conquer Koryo and oust Nyang's chances as Empress. He got an enemy. She still has respect to Tal Tal. I mean the fact I liked how she did not want to go against her teacher (him). Or the fact he is like, the student outsmarted me but don't forget fool me once it won't happen again. Makes me sad they are at odds. They were such a great working duo. Both are smart and he admires her for her brains and vice versa.
-Tal Tal helping her defeat the death curse from the old Empress. Tal Tal when he instructed her how to beware of the common tricks to the maidens when trying to be chosen as a consort by Toghon--avoiding drinking/eating/washing and learning smells of certain herbs to avoid hives etc. Just an amazingly smart fellow, Bayan is smart to have him but very UNSMART later it seems from what others say he just lets his thirst and lust for POWER and fighting get the best of him and not THINK Of the welfare of the people.
-Loved how Tanaquisis was injured and blinded. He should have died.
-I concur with others about Wang Yoo and Nyang (I am over and wasn't 100% onto their ill fated relationship.) His constant calling her not by her name but how he called her is true. He never wants to show his TRUE self to her. So the talks how Toghon being real and showing his vulnerable side up until now is true. Though he has many great qualities, he cannot always be perfect . I mean when he met Prince Maha--he says a real man doesn't cry. They only cry over other people not himself. Dang. Glad he regains his crown and helps Nyang.
-Yon Feisu/Batalou admits she loves Wang Yoo but knows his heart will not open to another. I am glad she said she did not want to work with Nyang. (Why would she, she knew that she is the reason Wang Yoo cannot move on in this life time with another.) Or the fact to get back into Eagle House's good graces she is whipped but she refuses to let him know. Wang Yoo knew it was not easy to estabilsh trust again once lost. But I don't think to what extent what they did to her. For a king that is folly to not try to have an heir. Ironically he does but his cronies will not let Wang Yoo or Nyang know that Maha is their kid. Hmm.
-Bayan led by Empress Dowager to maintain a PURE Yuan/Mongol line to not be tainted making sure he has his niece marry Toghon. I agree the Empress Dowager just wants power. Bayan just wants glory and doing it by fighting.
Toghon getting caught up in their ways and trying to lift himself out of the puppet position with El Temur to only it seems like to a NEW ONE.
-I know that Toghon and Nyang will have the ICE WALL soon. But when i saw how he protected Nyang after seeing the treasures she was trying to take out he still cared for her. He is very NEEDY. Dang constantly wanting him with her. i can see why the Empress Dowager warning of others in history did that and they had to rid the palace of those women.
-I TOO loved that the former Empress lackkeys were demoted and got a harsh taste of their own medicine for being unkind. What goes around comes around.
-Cockroach with his new getup, dang going all (non Korean but more Mongol) outfit. HIs wanting to get the treasure but we know he doesn't have a chance.
-So I have 10 more episodes left and I guess I AM going to finish this SECOND rewatch party for sure.

Looking forward to more Lee Rang and his hyung? Really liking him and knowing his days might be numbered makes me sad.
So does the Fox let Yuri have her way with him? (LOL) I loved how she was attracted to him being "rough". Oh my.
Imoogi trying to worm his way to our FL heart hmmmm. Not caring too much for him. Just anyone with sense of entitlement on "owning" another person ugggh bothers me.
The visuals of the people in this drama---sigh. I love the past and present and Lee Dong Wook is looking great. The FL too in her hanboks is stunning too.

@yellowreign Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Def can agree with you. I love EUGENE and so I was not keen on her screaming and yelling too. So I loved she was redeemed and frankly I did not THINK she would kill . Now her nemesis LOL she wants to but not the student. So the fact she stood in and pretended to be the mom---yes.
Yeah don't get the bio mom and her expressions. I know she is full on observation but I hope she appreciated what Eugene's character did for her daughter what SHE did not do as she was not aware of her actual status to her AFTER she died. Awww thanks for mentioning Seri Pak (slipping in doing that) I did not know. Makes sense.
The bratty kids are so annoying. I know it is the point. But when they say the quiet ones are scary, dang EB was scary when she tried to clobber and kill Anna Lee. Now she is haunted by those memories. Moments of anger/adrenaline and then later on regret and nightmares of what she did. Yikes. Was she DEAD already when she was pushed out of the elevator?
Glad that Congressman (cheater) was killed but by who? Poor Eugene's character has to be there (bad timing) to find the body.@Jillia Thanks for the stills my friend.
@Nyein Chan Yeah I do feel the characters are too all over the place. I TOO am not taking this seriously.

@JenL Waving hello! Great to see you here my friend and of course loves your posts! Late to the party as marathoned 1-7 in 2 days. Now at work and it was 3 am when I ended ep 7. I was tempted to watch 8 but coming into work at 9am--not a good idea.
@rocher22 Yups LOVED Do San's goofy smile. So CUUUUUTTEEEEE.
@petra Loved your post. Yes, I wonder about Alex (he is so handsome!) I want to see more of him and I hope to see MORE of him in the upcoming episodes too. I haven't seen ep 8 yet, but glad that Dalmi sees the truth on the real writer of the letters. Our CEO YP MAY have written them but grandma gave the bulk of the content. Dalmi is so bright .
When Grandma asked which DS she liked and her comments (while the tea kettle hissed) liking the letters and then the current one in front of her she has moments of sparks then he is different from the letter. (Yup she is bright and notices details).
Like I loved how DM mentioned WHY she wanted YP as the mentor not realizing the "family" DS and YP bromance is not real as they told her. Her noting the small acts he did, she is very caring and perceptive.
I like both males and though I love the orphan YP, DS is a strong competitor. I am not invested in the wars on who should be with the FL. Yes to get the living buddha all fired up--he has that passion for DM. He is righteous and goes with the flow as he is not ruled by $$$ like DM. They want money to succeed but not that hard ambition needed as mentioned by DS dad to Alex. Even when YP harshly told him he is not CEO material, he was upset. But he had to grudgingly agree later when DM was great in her presentation and also knowing what to do in the documents and organizing their stuff. She may not have gone beyond past High School to College but she studies and makes sure to be aware. So when she got to be CEO, CS and YS mainly CS had issue due to her lack of college. BUT he had to admit she presented well, she knows stuff/trends/terms THE college trio DOESN'T have a clue ie Due Diligence.
Grandma is my FAVE character. Love the actress and love her heart. I cannot help tear up knowing about her eyes and how softie DS realized why YP said he has a debt he cannot easily repay with money. It clicked when he met grandma. Awww. I love once you get in his circle of people, he is loyal, fierce and caring.
How about Dalmi with Sa Ha? I thought she was so charismatic to prove her point she should leave with her attitude to not work as a TEAM. YESH. YP was right you cannot be a CEO and a NICE PERSON.
Ok need to get back to work but loving this drama and glad I am almost caught up.

I have been wanting to watch this drama and got busy. Literally in 2 days watched 1-7 and 3am here. I have work but I wanted to write a quick note.Love this drama a lot!
@wildcherry & @NerdyAjumma I love both your write ups about both suitors and the female lead & the drama. Great points!
Just quick thoughts
- OST and cinematography is great. The visuals of the characters are wonderful . Happy to see more of the actor as HJP!!! Love him and seeing him here with his dimples! Yes! Suzy has come a long way from Dream High & killing it in this role. Enjoying NJH here too! Their chemistry & woah that kiss was amazing.
- Kang Hana is good as I feel she plays mean characters. Her it’s more tough love & fairness etc. but she keeps it real. Both sis miss each other and mom misses DM. IJ may have lived with her but she ignores her mom. Her mom called her hard work would be stolen from her. Frustrating to IJ but her mom called it.
- The orphan backstory had me teary and love that teen actor for the last few years. So touching grandma and him. When grandma said we should have met earlier I could have been your guardian etc cooked you meals and had you over for Chuseok. I was crying. Grandma rocks and HJP was just a sweetie. Granted it was luck he bumps into them again but also he was taking grandma literally if living a good life don’t come looking for me.
- Dang seeing FL dad pass (KJH is one my fave actors this year ) I was balling. Knowing the nose bleeding and I was suspicious but then fainting and shaking hand on the bus. I was thinking the worse to be proved right broke my heart. He finally gets funding offer to die and would have missed that meeting instead of the hospital visit. DM suffered so much but she is a gift to her grandma and a smart cookie. Smart cookie in life and knowledge from experience and willingness to learn. If she went and graduated from college she would be a force to be reckoned with.
- CS is one character acts as the prejudice and opinions of others. From hey she is a HS grad only how can we trust her? Our lives are on the line to her? Also her getting their final person and he has a big crush but doesn’t hurt she is good but a bit standoffish and rude. Then I trust DS but not DM as their relationship started with a lie and worries about future bugs. (He has a point about the probs with this lie persisting).
- Love the back stories in the drama from the Safe Box logo /biz idea, our merry trio first meeting in knitting class , DS awkwardness socially because he was smart, backstory DS letters to DM thanks to grandma, grandma and HJP (the kid with nowhere to go) etc.
Love this drama and 1 more episode I am up to date. So awesome & thanks for this forum to dump my thoughts for now. Sorry I didn’t read much of the prior pages at all.

@Rainy Days I must have read your post wrong. Sorry. Honestly I do not find it a relaxing or healing drama.
It is full of makjang and drama but great actors. I watch it honestly for the actors. But the over the top story at times makes me shake my head indeed.
I too did not care for how everyone is obsessed with their daughters to be opera singers was weird with this status but necessity to get into that Arts High School. I know this forum tackled this earlier and I do agree. Crazy! I mean ironic the daughter of Kim so Yeon’s character cracks under pressure. She is jealous of her main opponent Ro Na’s voice is exactly similar to the mom’s voice haunts her.
Still cannot wait for the next episodes.

@kdramagrandma and @paolaadl I admit initially I was not a big fan of Lee Rang in the earlier episodes. But the last few, I have been enjoying him more and more. I think it got cemented by last week and this week's episodes. I feel more invested in him than the OTP.
I too don't feel the burning chemistry between our OTP. They are visually stunning but as like @kdramagrandma I am loving the Vet, Yuri and Lee Rang more too.
Alot of great points already mentioned. I finally saw the ep 10 last night after work. What a ride.
So seeing more of LY and A Reum in the past and how it came they came parted or knowing the colleagues of our FL finding out their roles in her past lives taking care of the princess. Very cool.
Interesting Imoogi is now trying to ingratiate himself with our FL and already staking his claim on her as his bride. Wanting LY gone to take over and then be most powerful. Already he is liking she "passed" him for his comment of consideration about filming dead bodies feeling uncomfortable without their consent. Or interesting he CANNOT hear FL inner thoughts. Hmm that was cool.
The human extended life very surprised that LY was in wait at his home was kind of funny. I felt that it too them THAT long to figure it out? Everyone wants LY and will he give it up?
OMG Yuri liked the rougher side of our VET. He was adorbs sweating bullets when Yuri came onto him. You mean you want to skip all the steps to just GO to straight to bedroom ROAR. Go Yuri! She knows what she wants and she is passionate too. Seeing the Vet get ticked how she was treated at the Zoo (his manly /caring side ) and also protective instincts just got her attraction to him heightened. YESH. Our Vet needs love.
Heck LR needs love and I appreciated that LY when he met Yuri did appreciate and tell her to keep being there and caring for LR. (I agree that his NOT killing LR in the past to only have that living corpse save him to gain a favor did not go well with me too.) The fact LR is living to fulfill that promise reluctantly and not being happy saddens me. Such a tortured soul and to have a hyung nim in LY not being direct with him and mysterious allowing for many miscommunications. WHY?! Uggh so not on board with that aspect for sure.
Still looking forward to next week.

@Gaia2u OMG I agree I saw Kim So Yeon in "All About Eve" and she was amazing in that drama. Gosh after seeing the actress in real life and even the reality show WGM (she is a sweetie pie in real life). So NOT like her evil characters.
This drama is bringing back the vibes of early 2000's drama makjang and OVER the topness. I mean all the evil women had curly hair or perms. LOL the big hair was a sign that person was not nice. I feel like the American "Dynasty" equivalent with the dramatics, rich people and in fighting. The country, themes, and everything are different BUT can seem some vibes are the same.
@Nymeria289 OMG I agree why kill off Seol Ah so soon and to find out that she is Ji Ah's bio daughter-- that is just mean. But that is definitely a plot twist that we cannot get rid of. Darn it we don't have the go back in time element in this drama like Kairos etc of that ilk to change time/situations if you go back. I really liked Seol Ah as a character actually.
@tulip06 Ro Na would be amazing as a Kpop star. But seeing how they put them through the wringer and back and though they give lessons, travel and some perks. Their education ultimately is not "free" as it has to be all paid back by their success and when they make money. It is money spent as an investment in their future to be successful. I mean so many disband and owe debt if they don't debut to success. Even groups who get success still work /struggle for years paying off their agencies the "free" education/training they received as well as Room and Board.
@Rainydays Love how you call this drama healing, for me it is a fun makjang over the top escape. I loved "World of the Married" and I need to watch "Sky Castle" at some point.
As I said before Penthouse is not accurate but Hera's Palace for me is a better title. LOL.

Ok last night's episode9 feels as I watched it . Yes I am glad that Lee Rang realized his hyung nim never let him go.
When he had lost his will to live he got it back when Lee Yeon said--I NEVER miss with my sword. (Lee Rang knew he did NOT kill him when he COULD have killed him for slaughtering the village in rage.)
Our Ji Ah all happy in her family life and fake reality. I loved how she tested the "fake " mom with the allergy test and it failed this time. This was a good fake family imagination and she was getting the feels, home cooked meals, long desired affection from her parents she wanted. So when she had glimpses of REALITY slip in making her question her so called reality of from her imagination. Smart of Lee Yeon to call into her world.
Awww cool that we are told Lee Yeon knew he couldn't enter FL world even if he TRIED so going to Lee Rang's he could easily do so. Plus making Lee Rang thinking of how he got to the Forest of the Starved. Glad he got out and realized his Hyung Nim he loves and despises was all a misunderstanding.
Lee Yeon when he was lonely in his world he feared. So clever to get the Spirit of Darkness to come to him into his world. Trick her and then kill her. Wow brilliant. Plus he got to see briefly the Imoogi. Wow! Very cool.
Shin Joo is such a loyal fox. OMG loved how he got Ji Ah's body from the hospital to unite her with Lee Yeon. Hoping that would help. He is heart and passion to save Lee Yeon at the expense of his life (not surprised). He is THAT loyal. I mean he goes cooks/cleans and does everything for him without a complaint and so willingly. Love it.
YESH the kiss at the end.
@kehrite I agree Lee Rang DO NOT Die on us! I agree I think a lot of us kdrama fans dislike the FL letting the ML kiss her but doing nothing but being a statue. (I so dislike it.) Then I think about the ages/ situation/dating experience too.
In this case, they have feelings for each other, almost lost each other, so TOTALLY she BETTER be active kisser too with her participation! LOL. -

I am now very slow. I just watched up to ep 30-35. (Started a bunch of other dramas and real life happened).
But I agree with @joccu and others love Tal Tal.
I am not going to talk about the plot recap as others did a great job before me and with pics etc.
So Nyang got death curse by the Empress and smart Tal Tal found out. He helped her try to go a race against time to stop it! She gave birth to a son. The shaman was sharp saying her son (Maha) is prince and that the Empress had no son. LOL. Cannot hide the truth from the shaman. Even Nyang had a sharp sense when she met all the shamans the final one was THE one who cast the curse.
Glad that the lady who was pretending to be Batalou parted ways and helped Wang Yoo with the cooked up books for Eagle House and El Temur. Exposed El Temur to the governors and though Toghon did not get the seal, he won their loyalty. I loved his hiding his ability to read and speaking confidently gave a boast of confidence in others in him. He wanted to say it was Nyang (but glad he did NOT ) and covered is almost faux pas.
I was happy that Wang Yoo saved Tal Tal from being killed when El Temur found out that General Banyan /Liaoyang Governor "betrayed" him. Also RickRoll'D roach was saved and now doing the other errand and not "killed" smart they covered his head so they were able to pull off the switcheroo scenario.
Right now Nyang is working well with Toghon and the Empress. Her finally deciding to go to Toghon after he covered her from being hurt during the hunt and then she took the poison from his arrow shows they both care. When he was delirious and was not doing well, Nyang realized she does care about him. I am glad that Toghon DID not force Nyang. Instead he waited for her to come to him. So that in itself he KNOWS she did it willingly.
Cockroach talking to Lady Yun if he does well he wants to MARRY HER. OMG two peas in a pod. LOL.
Felt bad for the governor lost his life bing framed when El Temur wanted to frame Nyang for being a traitor. Always a struggle power play in deed.
I will still watch it but I will still trudge along LOL.

Ok yup I agree it is as @chickfactor says Junk Food for the brain. 110% agree.
Never saw Return but loved Last Empress (that was full of makjang) but seems tamer so far compared to Penthouse. I feel this should be titled Hera's Palace. LOL I think not everyone lives in the penthouse.
As everyone else mentioned, I don't get that the classical singing/vocal (ideal) desire is there. I love Uhm Ki Joon to see him as the slimy Joo Dan Tae. OMG ep 3 to find out he killed his current wife's hubby to get her back?! Then he got a fake girl to be his wife's bio daughter?! I think the henchman working for him is telling his wife. So him having affairs is not crazy and surprising. But uggh keeping the cut up finger is gross as a prize?!
He was dispicable when talking to the tutor and then stepping on her and not treating her with respect and being just a pompous axx uggh. His son who I too thought might be redeemable was the worse when they were bullying the tutor after finding out she won as top finalist to enter the musical school.
Yoo Je Ni lying and her mom knowing she was framing Ro Na for "hurting her neck" with the red paint. Dang really?!
I love Eugene and her character Yoon hee initially wanting to push the tutor to get Ro Na off the wait list was horrible and GLAD she did not end up doing it.
Interesting Eugene's characters fierce enemy Seo Jin's hubby Yoon Cheol paid off her "pay off fee" to the lawyer neighbor to not tell his wife (that is a big sum 100K) but his dealings with Dan Tae allows him to do that. He must have really liked her.
Yeah I too wonder who is Ro na's dad? Did Yoon Hee even date Seo Jin's hubby?? That would be funny and if Seo Jin knew of it she would not have TOLERATED marrying a man who liked Yoon Hee. Unless she COVETED the man and wanted him for herself and not have her mortal enemy have him.
Seems like not much love lost right now with Seo Jin and her hubby. She easily lied her DAD gave her such a pricy piece of jewelry?! (For no reason? Uh doesn't compute.) I think Yoon Cheol smells a rat.
Lawyer Gyu Jin is so annoying always saying I will tell my mom. Such a wuss and mommy's boy. Nothing wrong being mommy's boy but he is very irritating. Plus his incessant teasing and making up stuff when talking to Yoon Cheol about having an affair with Yoon Hee etc was horrible as we know he doesn't have any relations with her at the moment.
I am sad that the tutor does die. I like her character.
I too cannot get on the Ro Na bandwagon she is bratty and REALLY I agree with comment-read the room. @Nymeria289 @tulip06
Looking forward to this messy ride as I am not taking it seriously as @yellowreign @sasha1818 @Nyein Chan @Poison Ivy I am hooked. I admit I am watching it while doing something else.
I love the actresses and actors in this drama though.

Though through all his bluster to not care and want harm to his hyung, we know Lee Rang loves his hyung. Just seeing the back story really pulled at my heart strings. The younger version of Lee Rang is ADORBS!

I loved that LY saved LR. I agree the IMOOGI will not kill our FL if she is his bride.
The back story of how he saved his bro was precious. The little bro LR is cute and his looking up at his bro. Loved it. Then to see that he took his reincarnated beloved puppy for a meal. The fact he tries to be all dark and mean etc he still has a tender heart. The fact that LY was most precious to him and he was able to get the glasses shows he knows he does love his hyung.
Our FL seeing her past thanks to LR .
I liked the Vet and LR side kick. She does like the Vet but is not willing to admit it. Plus the Vet now knowing his crush ties with LR makes it hard for him. But he is SOOOOO Sweet. The sidekick will come around.
The Vet going over to cook and clean up after LY. So loyal. So devoted.
I want more.

Then work got hectic. I am now 12 episodes behind. Last night watched 29 and 30 and will make my way back up to catch up.

Nyang poisons Herself tells Empress Dowager to implicate the Empress using the dates with her tonic she makes the consorts drink. She doesn’t want her position but revenge for Lady Park and others by the Empress- Batalou wanted to kill Wang Yoo but he imprisons her instead funds out she used the counterfeit vouchers. Finds out she saved him at Suryang Pass.- Wang Yoo has the slave Eunuch /former Korygo village leaderbought the other Eunuch says don’t reveal Nyang was pregnant- Emperor vows he will take care of Nyang and doesn’t care if she doesn’t return his feelings- Cockroach Yim Byung Soo is punishing the pharmacy people and doctors to find who poisoned the dates-Lady Yon punishing the female servants / attendants and wants a consorts name as Empress wants to have someone to blame- Cockroach tries get Lady Yon to frame a consort & he tries to hit on her. Eunuch Dokman overheard them.-El Temur hears some consorts fathers worried and come to palace and want justice & request them to not interfere the Empress investigation- Now beyond inner chamber and Empress getting Palace investigators to Empress Dowager chambers & Empress visits Consort Nyang . They search and destroy Empress Dowager quarters.-Nyang reminds last place not searched is the Empress quarters and Empress Dowager said to lead but Empress said she will do. Nyang goes to Empress quarters to search and to be there. Lady Yon found chest with jewelry. Empress grabs chest hidden in it are dates.- Why dates in jewelry box? Nyang said she heard dates had the prison. She challenges the Empress to eat it. The Empress hesitates and is taunted and her attendant Lady Son chews and eats it. Initially ok but she is poisoned. Ahead Nyang had Hokusai delivered that jewelry box to Banyan’s nephew Tal Tal help. Empress is sayhg it isn’t her.- El Temur entertaining the consorts fathers. Cockroach announces the poisoner is the Empress.- Tal Tal back in Liaoyang sees Wang Yoo. Wang Yoo wants to help as dislikes Hoksu.Hoksu is invited by Tal Tal not Banyan. Says has full support of El Temur but he is told it’s him who wants him arrested.- Booklet with code found want to frame Hoksu and Eagle House. Finally wrapping up the counterfeit vouchers Ho him story.- Nyang shows the surviving Koryo servant she used powder on the dates .- Court asks the Empress be removed to the Emperor . Banyan and Empress Dowager are pleased. El Temur knows she is framed and her brother asks dad to help save her.- El Temur challenges Crown or Banishment to Frozen Palace in regards to the Empress .- Wang Yoo asks Tal Tal about Nyang and he tells him she is an imperial consort of fifth level. Wang Yoo upset doesn’t believe she volunteered .of course he is devastated. Nyang wanted to have revenge as her reason . Tal Tal warns him to not bother her or deal with him- Nyang greets Empress saying enjoy the Frozen Palace. Then reminds her Lady Park others buried in mountain. Empress realizes Nyang framed her.Ep 30Emperor is asked to abdicate. He is still mute. He lets Nyang meet Wang Yoo (He did try to meet her separately and privately) but got rejected. Good Nyang rejected Eunuch Bang. She is the Emperor's Consort, she is no longer the same position when Wang Yoo left her.Hoksu died and Wang Yoo spared Batalou life even though she tried to kill him. Glad she helped them figure out the roman code and decode that book. Is it the money that El Temur uses? (Seems like all over the regions and not Hokus's situation)El Temur having all the governor's to back him taking away their debt to support ridding the Emperor in support of his son. The fact the Empress keeps her title but is in the Frozen Palace. Wow she is really cold and dreary. Of course her "son" and Nyang's bio baby has to be cared for by the Empress Dowager.Awww the look on the Empress face realizing Nyang framed her and then telling her bro. The bro telling El Temur. Interesting the bro talking to Wang Yoo about Nyang if he saw her when he was in the palace. Their farewells were sad (but frankly no longer invested in them). She is there for REVENGE for Lady Park. I mean she told the Empress Dowager too. But still that is tough.Loved that the Empress Dowager loved the Emperor was able to read and write and figured out he wanted Nyang not to "bed" her but he was LEARNING. We know he is doing it for Nyang and not for himself. But still I am glad.Glad the whole counterfeit voucher thing is over now? I know I have a ways to go to catch up but it has been crazy. Only so much time in the day.-

@Jillia Thanks for posting all the classical music. I like it but don't know much songs/who or what works to listen to. This drama and Nodame Cantabile opened up my ears. Plus the great story makes me feel more invested in the muisical works as well.
I was away on vacation (first this year) since Covid. Weird I usually take a lot of them too during the year. Then catching up at work that I had no time to be on the forums. I am on the forums during work time. It has been intense at work I could not dedicate time to be here. TT
Glad that our OTP got back together. They had to throw in some angst. I was glad that ML told his mom to divorce the dad.
When our OTP were performing, they looked so shiny and lovely together. Awww.
Glad they both graduated and glad they both reunited. Their visuals and wardrobe were stunning especially for the FL. I really liked her feminine but not overly so appropriate wardrobe for her character.
I loved how the former manager told FL she is great and someone who they wanted to work with. YESH! She is a good at reading people.
ML cutting off ties with his professor. So it was a recording piano. Interesting how despite the estrangement, the loyalty of his friends still care and KNEW the video was the ML and NOT the professor.
Sad to see JK grandmother pass away. But good to see the father there a bit more for the daughter and that the grandmother acknowledged he could have left and not stayed. But he did for his daughter.
I loved that the sis was nice to FL. She noticed her being upset and had a drink with her in her room. So she did with her sis and earlier episodes with her dad. I also liked how she encouraged her to follow her path and just be HAPPY. The performance scene when you see the family see her perform. The usually critical mother was emotional. I liked the sis expression and we already know about the softhearted and empathetic dad.
CEO pal telling MS to comfort our FL at his studio. Awww good job. He cannot comfort her as well as her BFF who was estranged from her. MS repented and realized through it all after really thinking about it --- FL friendship is so priceless and valuable. Glad they reunited and FL got some much deserved comforting after breaking up with the ML.
Loved the OTP sweet dating scenes, kissing scenes, didn't love the angst but they showed the ebbs and flows of a realistic relationship. No relationship is smooth sailing. Also to see their cheerleaders who were supportive of them! Even JK grandmother (even though she did not know they were broken up briefly). Glad that ML snapped out of it and went to her to tell her he did not want to break up.
Both can talk when they want to and both can not SHARE their feelings and situations. No REAL deep relationship can be fostered WITHOUT real communication. To know they have to be stronger with it. I know with a close pal of mine, we did not communicate once while traveling and it was not great. But we overcame it and now are better friends due to COMMUNICATION (the importance of it). No matter how close, NO ONE can read your mind. (Ok maybe in a drama where the character can read minds? Lol)

I too am grateful for the rewatch party (for me first time) of this classic drama and thanks again to @Lmangla and @partyon Plus talking it over with friends such as yourselves and of course @Jillia was just fun and amazing.
Finally catching up on my other rewatchon Empress Ki that is ending next week. I have been on catch up mode too there due to RL making it busy for me.
