I found Yejin cute in this interview, especially at 53:19. It was a present given to Bin only but she was so comfortable that right when Bin received it, she pointed at the chibi on the box and said "it's cute", grabbed the snacks in the box without hesitating and when the host asked if she could eat, Ms YJ said "eat it". Haha she did everything before Bin reacted. I think...

I remember during the press con, (when HB was acting all aloof  and barely look at YJ, that I thought he's gonna have a stiff neck from all the effort not to look at YJ ) and they were asked to pose together for photos and she just nonchalantly slipped her hand in his arm, pulled him towards her, and smiled this really sweet smile like saying "He's all mine".

The discussion regarding both their ideal types yesterday really interests me. Being in the same age bracket as these two lovely dorks, it took a while for me to process my thoughts and put it into proper sentences. That being said, I think somehow I can gauge what do they look for in a life partner. And truth to be told, I believe that the criteria changed over time.
 

Here we go.

 

One: When I read their tall lists on their perfect man/woman, I tend to read them all and summarize them. Yes it might not be verbatim as how others dissect them, but sometimes we have to look at it from a bigger picture perspective instead of putting each and every thing under a microscope. So that will be my approach for the discussion points below.

 

Two: I’ll start with Binnie because well, as almost everyone here has said, he’s very easy to read. And to be very frank, he is actually a very simple guy with genuine intentions. Regardless whatever he had said in his interviews, my view is, what he wants is a life partner, with an emphasis of the word “partner”. To complete his vision of a perfect family. Someone who simply gets him not only as this actor/businessman that everyone adores, but to be able to love and understand him as a real person.

 

Some might say that his views then was patriarchal or chauvinistic, but I don’t see it that way. Try couple those views with his present approach and how he treats women especially YJ, and gurllllll, you’ll see that this one will treat his woman like a queen. He’s not looking for a trophy wife for sure, because if that’s what he wants, he would have been married ages ago. Women flocked over him, and he has resources to fund them somewhat.

 

To the contrary, being the sangnamja he is, he would be proud of her achievements, for her to take the center stage. To have a career too, since he is also busy with his projects and by having someone who he can relate and have a proper conversations to would be much helpful (am short to say that such person will not be young and dumb, but I think it’s a bit harsh so I stop). He’s humble enough to share the space and attention with her, regardless of her career of choice, and he will adore and cherish her in his own way.

 

Three: Problem is, he’s a man of few words and women may find him challenging because how do you then communicate in the long run? That’s why the only constant in all his statement is that the person must be able to understand him. His profession as an actor. His other life as a businessman. His family. Whatever that makes him tick. And two-way communication can come in form of verbal and nonverbal ways.

 

It takes one heck of a woman to be able to be at par with him as a life partner: she must be highly intelligent, and possesses a high EQ to be able to communicate with him and make the relationship work.

 

Now, let’s discuss Jinnie.

 

Four: YJ is no damsel in distress. She is her own woman, lives her life at her own terms and has always remain independent. She has been working consistently throughout the years and as much as she has been publicly single all her life, she definitely has and have been seeing someone. Multiple someone throughout the years, probably. But none of those are out because she has an image to keep - she wants to keep her job. She wants to be sure that the guy is the real deal. She’s the Nation’s First Love.
 

She’s definitely picky - and she definitely has whatever checklist that she had or still has, but if I can summarize them, it would be that 

    ⁃    She is not ready, because once she said yes, then this would be it for her. And given her nature, she will give it all her efforts; and
    ⁃    Regardless who the husband is, that person must view her as an equal. She’s a strong independent woman and she wants to be seen as an equal. And she is not afraid to just say it to that guy’s face. This woman is feisty!

 

So to have a relationship which later develops into marriage, she wants to be seen as an equal in that union whilst keeping her job. And I don’t blame her for that - in my view, no matter how rich your husband can be, a woman needs to be somewhat financially secure on her own. She might have dated someone good looking, or older or well-off in the past (I don’t know because this lady is soooo secretive I could not assume anything, hence the term “might” above) but maybe they didn’t tick the boxes because, finding someone who will treat you as an equal in a relationship is hard.
 

Five: In tackling the above issue, whatever the statements that she gives, it seems coy at times. A little secretive, maybe. Given how she lives her life and her character, that man needs to be really patient with her. But fret not, in return, she has a high EQ and she will return the man’s patience with her love and understanding because once she decides on it, that will be it. She will love you hard.

 

She will want to have a family and that person will need to be with her with the same end goal in mind. And who else do we know is finding that missing piece of his perfect family puzzle? Yeah.

 

Five: I’m not going to discuss much on how they interacted with each other because man, we have discussed that in great length here so I don’t have that much to say on that. But what stands out for me is how they do understand each other without having to do big gestures. It’s those little things, like:
    ⁃    How extra HB is whenever YJ is around;
    ⁃    How YJ remembers everything about HB;
    ⁃    How HB and YJ instinctively reach for each other and comforting each other especially at the final shoot when she was emotional and he was sick;
    ⁃    How she just gets whatever he tries to say and how at ease he is when he talks to her (the hmm-ing, the teasing, etc). They know what makes each other tick.

 

And all of the above is being nurtured after a while. It’s way past the honeymoon stage. Their actions are more leaning towards an old married couple. Very husband and wife-like. That’s all I can say.

 

Am so thankful that they have finally found each other and hopefully they will reach the final destination together. And have mini Binjins (those beautiful genes need to be passed on somehow).

 

So yeah, that’s my two cents in relation to the above issue.

 

Note: Edited to say that as much as possible, I think in future we should discuss them both in this thread and points of discussion will probably touch on both of them. I don’t think it’s fair if we only discuss on only one half of the unit, whichever they are, some kind of balance is needed somehow. Give them both equal chances to shine, just like how they give in to each other all the while. I see them as equal individuals in a unit, and probably future discussions should be heading on that angle. It’s a shippers thread after all

I think he has met his match in SYJ in so many ways. She is so intelligent and independent and although she can be feisty, he seems to WANT to be able to handle it. What I think is incredibly important in their relationship is that he seems to respect and hold SYJ in very high esteem. SYJ has probably intimidated a lot of men in her time but HB seems to appreciate all that she has to offer. Of course this is all speculation and I could be 100% delusional but I believe they are what the other person has been looking for.

Exactly my thoughts. He’s looking for a worthy partner for life and she’s looking for an equal. YJ has a high standard and can easily intimidate anyone but HB takes her as it is and appreciate everything she has on the table. As for HB, it is hard because like you said, he is the crown jewel and some women will worry on how to measure up. Sure we are all speculating at this juncture but I do think they are what each other needs

Yeah it was the part that got my attention too! The box was hyunbin's but yejin was the one who said "eat it" when MC asked if she can eat...like yejin owns the box  

And as you said hyunbin said to yejin "no we won't eat it now, right?" Just like a husband asking his wife's opinion! And before yejin could say anything he just put the package aside!

It isn't the first time they decide for one another or answer the questions directed to the other person! Their level of comfortness is no joke!
