The Negotiation Promo Period - Highlights

 

To me, Son Ye Jin is reliable as her seniors. We had a lot of hard time shooting in a dual live broadcast. Son Ye Jin was the one who solved those difficult things. I think Son Ye Jin does a lot of acting with her eyes. She is an actress with good eyes. She was very good at delicate acting on the monitor. I felt as if I were acting with her, so I felt so comfortable - TN Press Conference (August)

 

When I saw that she had cut her hair for the movie, I was a little bit shocked. She was going to film another movie after this movie. Nevertheless, she cut her hair short for this movie. The people who worked on her other movie probably complained. It motivated me. What should I do? TN Part 2 - Sept 11

 

It is a shame I didn't meet Son Ye Jin in a romance or melodrama but there is still a chance. So I think that is a relief. It's good that I can see her through the monitor because there's an opportunity. There were many unfortunate parts. I had to act with Ye Jin through a small monitor but I think it was right for this movie. I really want to meet her again in another genre next time. Since she is an actress that acts with her eyes even though I was looking at her through the monitor, I wondered how I would meet these eyes in a different genre. I would like to work with her again. A similarity I found when acting with Ye Jin is she is energetic like me. I thought about how she would get immersed herself into the character but she expressed her character more than I expected. I could see that she analyzed thoroughly. A difference is that she is more excited than I had expected. I had high expectations and that's why if possible. She was a reassuring presence. It was difficult and new to film separately and simultaneously. But I thought that Son Ye Jin was an actress that could alleviate all that. She’s an actress with a great gaze. Even though we were acting through the monitor, I thought she was an actress who acted with her eyes a lot. Watching her easily expressing the tension, but also the delicacy amidst that, it didn’t feel like I was watching her through the monitor. - TN Press Conference (Soompi)

 

 

 

 

At that time, I thought how good it would be if I could work with her again. I didn't expect the opportunity to come so soon. While working with her on the project and doing movie promotion with her, I think we share a lot of similarities. As a result, we have many things we can talk about and we share similar views about a lot of things. When I was shooting <Negotiation>, we filmed in a completely different space using a binary filming technique, so we didn't have much time acting face to face with each other. But when I saw her acting on the small monitor, she showed me unexpected acting that got me curious. Why did she express it that way? When an actor acts, of course, he will use what he has prepared to immerse into the role, and the acting will be uniquely realistic and you get a sense of thrill watching it. But sometimes, if you encounter an unexpected acting from the other party, you will also feel a sense of thrill. When you are not able to predict how the other person will act or express herself, and you find yourself responding in an unexpected manner to complement or to react to the other person, it is very charming and thrilling. I think I saw that from Ye-jin. So I had wished to work with her again. I thought when that time comes, I want to be able to do so by being in the same space, looking at the eyes and breathing in the same air. This time, I am able to do it.

 

I think the scene that got me very amazed for the first time is that scene when I shot and killed Ye-jin's boss. Of course, Ye-jin's line was a curse, so I expected her to spit out or explode with the curse but she did the opposite. Instead, she restrained her strong emotions in saying her line. It felt like she was going to explode but she did not and she showed a different kind of emotions. It was very different from what I expected. I think that if she hadn't read the script multiple times, and if she hadn't thought carefully about how to express her emotions, then it is not possible that she can show such an expression.I am sure she had thought of other ways of expressing herself. But in the end, she chose to express herself in that way. I also wondered how it would have been and how I would have reacted if she had chosen to express herself in another way. - Esquire August 2019 (Answer excerpts - HB Soompi)

When I was filming, I have not shoot with her in the same place. So I wanted to act with her in the same space in a different genre from 'The Negotiation' in a brighter and lighter. I was thinking I wanted to meet Ye Jin in a drama that can show her charm and I was given that chance sooner than I thought. Ye Jin is a good partner to me. I've seen and learned a lot more as an actor in working together. She has lots of ideas and makes me inspired. I have fun filming and that's the biggest difference from 'The Negotiation'

 

As Ye Jin told you, she's an actor who has a lot of other aspects than what she looks like. I think the other side will be shown a lot in this drama. - Crash Landing On You Press Conference

 

 

 

I cheer on the beauty and acting skills of Actress Son, who always works hard whenever and wherever. Don't hold back on that beauty and acting ability and continue working hard like a cow.

After filming the movie The Negotiation with Ms. Ye Jin in the past, I think a lot of fans know it since I had an interview before. I mentioned that it would be great if I would be filming with her again in a different genre like a romantic comedy or melodrama. Where the time to film together came early so I think this was one of the things I liked that the chance to synchronize our act came early.  So I think acting with Ms Ye Jin again for a few months. The acting took us around 6-7 months. Based on my observation as an actor, she had to a huge passion for acting. She was also an actress who had interpretation and various ideas about the scenes. That was somehow astonishing to me as an actor and it stimulated me and I learned various things from her. I think that was why I liked acting with her. Thirdly, however, I like that a great film like this was done with great synchronization of our act without any issues - Metro.Style

I also prefer her wear backless than an exposed front. If they'll sit beside each other, Bin-ssi might lose his concentration on the awards because he'll be guarding his close friend from time to time 

 

What a lovely couple we have. Early his week we were loaded with HB content, and now with SYJ. They are a Power Couple indeed.

 

With all the opinions about Baeksang nominees, I will not expect too much. I am just happy now that at least our OTP got the most votes for popularity award. If there will be other awards for CLOY then it will be a bonus for me.

I don't think she is the exception. He's not looking to his past. She is has been his present and future since 2017. (If we count on the year they met) Let me explain myself, not trying to be controversial here. One of the mayor traits of HB personality, as I have seen through the years, is that he is very firm in his convictions, also he is no blabber mouth, he doesn't speak without thinking and analizing his words. When he says he is not prone to look at his past and that he is without regrets. I belive him. I don't think  he has excemptions, because he is a little stuborn. I'm firm about this because that's why I'm convinced the Xs rummors are baseless. Those are his principles, don't regrets and never look back. The future is always the only option. And in his own words this present of 2020 is much happier. And as shipper (not so delulu) I belive our SYJ is that future he talked about in 2019.

SYJ at that point must have known that HB fell for her during the shoot or promotion of The Negotiation, thanks to TN  Director who acted as the bridge between them. Hence, SYJ made Se Ri’s  reaction to Ri’s silence a really memorable as well.

I saw the same on tweeter. Really surprised they pre-announce the Baeksang popularity award, unless this is just the media highlighting that Binjin has won the votes, and not an official announcement. Btw, what was edited in the article?

Totally fair point! And I totally get what you're saying! While I would agree that YJ is indeed his present and future, I meant it in the context that she is the "exception" in the sense that he pulled up a past memory to remind the audience of what she said 2 years ago and he usually never brings up past memories. So her being the exception here means that she causes him to go against his usual nature, which is an awesome thing. So I didn't mean it in the sense that YJ is in his past, clearly, from his super precious reaction that she is surely is not, I just meant that she is an exception to his rule about not looking backwards but forwards.

 

But no matter how you look at it, 2018 IS in fact in the past, a beautiful past, chalk-full of amazing memories all of which helped create BinJin shippers all over the world in the first place. It was their fond starting point but that is exactly what it was, a starting point. From that initial starting point, they have kept moving forward towards the present and (hopefully) the future being even better, stronger, more grounded, more committed, and more determined than ever to not let go of something so special that they have discovered in the past and kept building upon. Because to say that her compliment wasn't in the past might imply that BinJin did not move on from their initial flirting phase to something even better and stronger. As Se Ri said in CLOY, she doesn't want Captain Ri to just remain a precious memory, she wants to keep building on the memories they have which is exactly what I'm trying to express. They're fondly celebrating their past in order to move into the future together. So in this sense, she IS indeed his exception because she's the only one that he is willing to pull from his past to make sure that she is a part of his future. And he's also making sure that the world doesn't forget their beautiful past so that we can be prepared for their beautiful future to come.
