Speaking of Gong Yoo ( and someone was speaking of him right?), have you seen “A Man and a Woman”?

No, but I "googled"  it. So it was like a one-night stand? Four Batman-and Robin words came to mind but I won't go there. They meet. They talk. They communicate in another way. Then they carry on as normal.  I haven't watched it; actually, don't know if I'm up to it (I found my information on the googlers' encyclopedia). Was it worth watching?

In ep 14, why did SJ turn cold toward YR? Was it because she was invited to the matchmaking event? He seems to turn cold and hot toward YR but when she cries, he goes soft.  In regards to Bae's firing, I went back to eps 13 and 14 but couldn't find any scene when he was fired by his boss. I very much want to watch that part.

cant remember the episode, but there was a company notice that Bae was fired. We then see him get off the elevator that Lee Chun ash’s character is waiting for.

I recall someone here posted that Gong Yoo was going to make a cameo in VIP, was that wishful thinking or truth?:)

Not-so-great (but not definite) news for me: I may not be as active on this thread next week as I have been the past two weeks for either of the following two reasons:

  1. My parents and relatives will be gathering at my home on Christmas Eve and Day. Therefore, I may not be able to discuss in real-time my immediate reactions and thoughts on the finale. I will try to express them later that week.
  2. We're down to two episodes, and, in my opinion, SJ and/or YR STILL have not shown signs of remorse or understanding of the cruel impact of their actions (i.e., their passive-aggressive on/off affair) on JS, the VIP team, and the rest of their coworkers (I don't consider the VP or Director Bae as having any semblance of good will or trustworthiness in the first place, unlike SJ or YR). I'm doubtful about how the screenwriter will resolve the central conflict between JS and SJ/YR/VP with "healing and reconciliation" within only two episodes, especially if JS ends up falling down the stairs because of YR, not JS's (red herring?) own ailments. Even now, I feel too disillusioned by the current and prospective trajectory of this drama to rant more about this week's episodes or progression. Sorry to bog down the mood of the Soompi thread...:tears:

It will start moving on Monday lol:sweat_smile:. I'm looking forward to it:lol:. I have a feeling that it will reach 100 pages by the end of this drama:D.

Sorry to cut your post, @smlinwa. And, to answer @smlinwa's question, I think there are at least three VIP discussion forums (Soompi, Dramamilk, Dramabeans open threads, etc.).

And have no fear, @NAB! As stated by @lu09 and other Soompiers I didn't mention here, we'll keep this thread moving during those last two days- yes, even Christmas Eve.

And yes to reaching the 100-page milestone on this thread (hopefully WITHOUT making declarations of flying overseas to give the screenwriter/director our piece of mind (code: high kicks and sucker punches) for throwing in any last-minute, undeserved redemption arcs for SJ/YR/VP/Director Bae or JS's amnesia/fatal disease/"unconditional forgiveness" route <_<).

Let's not give up on our beloved JS and her VIP team. We've persevered through 14 hours of this "adultery/mistress" storyline; we'll see to the end that JS and her VIP team get their justice and come out with a bang! Fighting, Soompiers and viewers! :glasses:

Jang Nara, Lee Sang Yoon, Pyo Ye Jin, And More Pick Best Scenes From “VIP”

Dec 22, 2019
by L. Kim

The cast of “VIP” chose their favorite scenes from the drama!

With just two episodes left until the drama’s conclusion, Jang Nara, Lee Sang Yoon, Lee Chung Ah, Kwak Sun Young, Pyo Ye Jin, and Shin Jae Ha shared what they thought were the best moments from “VIP.”

Spoiler

Jang Nara: When Na Jung Sun faced the truth

In the seventh episode, Na Jung Sun (Jang Nara) talked with Park Sung Joon (Lee Sang Yoon) about an affair without knowing whether his secret woman was Song Mi Na (Kwak Sun Young) or Ha Yoo Ri (Pyo Ye Jin). During a fancy dinner with the members of the VIP team, Kang Ji Young (Lee Jin Hee) brought up the topic of affairs, and Na Jung Sun addressed Song Mi Na and Ha Yoo Ri, saying, “Affairs can’t be justified.”

Jang Nara also picked the scene in episode ten as an important one. In the episode, Na Jung Sun found out that Park Sung Joon’s other woman was Ha Yoo Ri and asked Ha Yoo Ri if she had a boyfriend.

The actress commented, “When I was shooting the two scenes, it felt like I was beating around the bush because I was afraid even though I knew what the answer was. It was interesting to realize through the other person that it’s the truth. It was fun to think about how I should act that I’m trying to appear fine despite not being fine, and the tension between actors [was interesting as well].”

Lee Sang Yoon: When Park Sung Joon expressed his feelings for the first time

In the ninth episode, Park Sung Joon shared his honest feelings to Na Jung Sun. She was waiting for him at the cafe to discuss the “private scandal” when Park Sung Joon received a message from Ha Yoo Ri. After much agonizing, he finally headed to Ha Yoo Ri. Later on, Na Jung Sun demanded to know about his other woman, but Park Sung Joon shocked viewers by saying, “Let’s stop,” and asking to bring an end to their marriage.

Lee Sang Yoon explained, “When Park Sung Joon said, ‘Let’s stop,’ in the middle of their conversation, I personally thought this scene embodied their psychological state. The differences between their positions were clearly revealed, and Park Sung Joon, who had not expressed his feelings well before, showed how he felt in this scene. Above all, I remember that I had good teamwork with Jang Nara in this scene, so I want to choose it as a great scene.”

Why doesn't Ha jae-woong's wife not demand a divorce from him? She's of pedigree stock herself and will have more to gain than to lose if she divorces HJW.  I don't understand why she chooses to stay in the marriage despite his many women and affairs.

Hi she may have a pre-nup as most wealthy families do and in addition has no children of her own that is a game changer in most divorces.  She seeks not alimony but if he becomes chairman half his wealth.  She is buying her time and biting her tongue till now.

I don't think she loves him. She is in the marriage for other reasons. I knew a woman who had been married to a wealthy man for 30 odd years. She knew of his peccadilloes for many years and she had stopped loving him, she said. He was just a provider of her lifestyle - very luxurious.

Director Bae photos of SJ & company are the same as the VP wife who probably paid to tail them.  VP wife has an insurance policy just in case JS cant bring herself to expose the cheaters.  He obviously wont get his  job back but a pure revenge play as SJ was the one who recommended the plan to the CEO and other Directors to fire him. Right or Wrong you don't make enemies when you weakness is equally immoral not his brightest moment.  Look forward to the blank look on his face as he probably will blame our heroine for the revelation and fall from Ha family grace.  In the preview opening scene JS says " I don't know who you are anymore" is after being released from hospital I bet since she is holding a bag given with your things after a hospital stay, SJ takes her home but does not go in...then she reveals SJ characters greatest fear JS utter disgust for the DIRTY person he really was, is and will continue to be with those words.

I agree with LSY, I think that scene was pivotal for his character’s development. It showed the complexity of their marriage and how different they’ve come out of the excruciating pain that they went through. PSJ finally realises that he’s come to the end of no return. He can no longer bow he’s head and hope for the best, he has to man up and face the consequences of his actions head on. He has to choose between his ambitions and his marriage. His past or the life he’s built with JS.

It’s either he tells all of the dirty deeds he’s done for the VP, the lies he’s told about his past and the woman he’s seeked for comfort when JS couldn’t comfort anyone or he leaves. He chose to leave. He said in earlier episode that he couldn’t lie straight to her face and that that was the reason he didn’t deny the affair. I think knowing that, it makes sense why he’d ask for divorce.

I don’t think he’s decision had anything to do with YR. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I think this decision was about him coming to the realisation that he’s no longer the man JS married. Maybe he was never the man she deserved and he’s been hanging on to her. That’s why he keeps bringing up how she was a stoke of luck a guy like him could never hope for. She changed him and became his world. And somehow, driven by greed, he ruined that. I think the scene in the car really emphasis this.

As for his relationship with YR, I still think there’s non now that I’ve rewatched earlier episodes. He has a soft spot for her but I think that’s his past coming back to hunt him. He had no one to comfort him when he went through the whole ordeal with his fathers’s family and now he has the opportunity to be there for someone who reminds him of himself. I think he’s confusing kindness with love. That doesn’t excuse his actions but I think it’s relevant.

There’re subtle things that he does that kinda makes me feel like he still loves his wife. Like after the slap scene(I’ve watched it 100x and it’s still sooo good) when JS tells YR to leave the VIP team, he goes to VP and asks if YR still have to be on the VIP team. At first, it looks like he’s thinking about YR(and maybe he is), but for a guy who’s concerned about his mistresses well-being, shouldn’t he have intervened earlier? He knows the Hyun-A knows about the affair(and that JS probably told who the girl is since they’re close) and SW has hinted to him that he knows what’s going on so why wait. Maybe I’m just grasping on little hints that doesn’t exist but I think there’s more to this character.

Well, we’ll see tomorrow if I’m just naive or there’s some redeemable parts of PSJ.

Thanks for the article.  I liked all the responses but for some reason I especially love it when actors are generous and empathetic to other actor's performances so I really liked that Lee Chung Ah, Kwak Sun Young, and Shin Jae Ha all picked other actor's scenes and not even the most obvious scenes in the drama.  I really liked what they all said and especially impressed with SJH as a male empathising with Mi Na's breakdown and struggles as a working mother. Seems like he is an empathetic young man in real life too!^_^

Totally agree about this especially about Sang Joon casting stones when he has plenty of his own dirty sins that he is covering up.

Also i had to bold this part "Look forward to the blank look on his face" :lol::lol::lol:

After watching the 'live' broadcast of LSY and SJH, I am guessing that there was no redemption for SJ. Aren't they showing to non fans of LSY that this is him, the actor? Calling and having a friendly chat with JNR  seems like another strategy to redeem the actor and separate the real and imaginary persona.

I am quite happy, no reconciliation within reasonable probability.

@Elmaas Bravo. I'm with you 100% with your analysis. PSJ choose to leave because he knew it was over; hence his breakdown in the car. If only he told the truth when JS gave their marriage another shot after she found out about the affair and told him straight to his face if there is anything else she needs to know. Then things won't have come to this. JS would have made her choice to stay or leave a long time ago. He really made a mess and he will regret it for the rest of his life.

As for YR, I also don't see any love he has for her which is great lol:D

Sadly I had been rooting for SJ and JS; blindly ignoring signs that their relationship can not be fixed. Just re-watching many scenes again while I wait for tomorrow. For SJ, it really comes down to the fact he doesnt love himself and could no longer hold up the facade he had worked so hard to maintain over the last 10 years. Yes, I can see why he turned to another woman as seems the marriage was in a bad place...seems he is someone craving love No excuse for cheating as he should have told her how he was feeling.

Except for a couple of "looks" in the last few episodes there are no signs he loves his wife at all. I guess it was her love that kept the relationship going.  It would be interesting to see if there were further breakdown during the marriage as they skipped so many crucial years..ie did JS obsess about getting pregnant and was the marriage lonely before the miscarriage.

In a sense I guess he is relieved that he can really be himself now...he must know she knows from the last scene in the hallway.

Still dont understand the attraction he has for YR as she really isnt a good person; petty, jealous and ignorant. My thought is she wants to "be" JS and taking SJ is just part of it.

Anyway just really sad as she wasted so many years with him....regardless of the final outcome.

Now watching a few light current dramas but all seem like candy floss after the emotional roller coaster of this show.

Oh my fellow Soompiers, we are so close to the end and it is soo bittersweet.  I am happy that this emotional roller is coming to an end because my heart can't take anymore of this angst and realized I may need to take anger management classes after how worked up I've gotten everytime JS is put in a hurtful or humiliating circumstance. Lol But at the same time I'm sad that this drama is ending because I'm left wanting.

There's so many things I wanted to see,  journeys that seem incomplete,  and too many holes in the storyline, so Im here at 11 o'clock at night trying to prepare myself because regardless of the outcome/ ending that I'm going to either be disappointed or unbelievably pissed off! I just feel as though JS hasn't been given enough time to rise from the pit that SJ and circumstances put her in.  We've seen 14 episodes of non-stop hurt,  humiliation, and emotional beatdown to our heroine JS. And even though she has started to come up swinging since episode 10, these scenes are few and far between compared to scenes that we see between SJ and YR that just make you want to barf, and scenes that are emotionally charged/ painful and so much so that it has even taken its toll on me as as a viewer.  I would have loved to see steady progression of redemption by SJ and JS winning and her journey back to happiness. Two episodes isn't enough to show us that..*big sad sigh*

Even if the writer wasn't planning to have SJ redeem himself then we really should've been given more time to see how time and what journey JS had to go through  to achieve the happiness that she sooo deserves with or without SJ.

Even if this wasn't meant to be the typical kdrama, I wish there would've been more romantic scenes between SJ and JS, the few flashback scenes showed such great potential chemistry between them two.  I'd love to see them in a series about actually falling in love.  I'd ship them in a heartbeat as long as there was no cheating involved.  Lol

It's D-Day people! Who's ready for the epic showdown?

b882bfdeb54e79dea2ff2341653fbaae--cute-f

Did YR push JS down the stairs?

Is JS pregnant?

Are the VP and SJ going to jail?

Will JS rip out YR's hair?

Will SJ dump YR and try to reconcile with JS?

Is JS having any of it or is she going to kick her husband in the ****?

Will SJ's facial impression ever change?

Who shot JR?

Stay tuned.... :D
