Watch: Jang Nara Slaps Lee Sang Yoon And Pyo Ye Jin For Intense Confrontation Scene In “VIP”

Watch: Jang Nara Slaps Lee Sang Yoon And Pyo Ye Jin For Intense Confrontation Scene In “VIP”

Dec 19, 2019
by Y. Shin

VIP” has released a new behind-the-scenes video of its cast!

The clip begins with Jang Nara, Pyo Ye Jin, and Lee Sang Yoon preparing for a tension-filled scene in which Na Jung Sun physically confronts Park Sung Joon and Ohn Yoo Ri. Jang Nara insists that she can’t get too emotional since it will be dangerous for her co-stars, but Lee Sang Yoon and Pyo Ye Jin calm her nerves by making jokes. Jang Nara makes sure to rehearse the scene before the cameras begin rolling so they can complete it in one take.

Despite Jang Nara’s passionate acting as she grabs Pyo Ye Jin by her collars and slaps Lee Sang Yoon across the face, the director informs her that it was an NG (No Good) cut. Jang Nara immediately apologizes, but Lee Sang Yoon assures her that her slap didn’t hurt at all. After they film their second take, Lee Sang Yoon jokingly accuses Pyo Ye Jin of laughing when he got slapped. The three actors finish shooting the intense scene in high spirits.

The next clip features Lee Sang Yoon and Pyo Ye Jin sitting at a dining table together for a scene in which Park Sung Joon invites Ohn Yoo Ri over for a birthday meal. After noticing the well-prepared food, Pyo Ye Jin comments, “Who would divorce [Park Sung Joon]!” to which the director teases, “Yoo Ri! It’s because of you.” After the actors eat the delicious meal together, Lee Sang Yoon comments, “I’m just seeing how good it really is.” When a cake is brought in, Lee Sang Yoon digs his fork into the side that the camera will not be capturing and innocently says, “We have to know the condition of the props to really immerse into the scene.”

Lee Sang Yoon Says He Didn’t Expect The Explosive Response To His Character In “VIP”

Dec 19, 2019
by C. Hong

On December 18, actors Lee Sang Yoon and Shin Jae Ha held a live chat broadcast through Kakao M.

In particular, Lee Sang Yoon discussed his currently airing drama, SBS’s “VIP.” “VIP” tells the story of a team that takes care of VIP clients at a high-end department store, with Lee Sang Yoon playing the team head Park Sung Joon. Jang Nara plays his wife and colleague, Na Jung Sun, who comes to suspect him of having an affair.

Lee Sang Yoon and Jang Nara recently had a cute exchange on Instagram where they talked about “VIP” viewers’ angry responses to Lee Sang Yoon’s adulterous character.

On the live chat broadcast, Lee Sang Yoon said, “This is the first time in my life that I’ve been cursed at so much. I expected this to a degree but it exceeded my expectations. Over 10,000 people have come into this broadcast just to yell at me. I’m grateful that they can immerse themselves into the drama so much to curse me out.”

Shin Jae Ha commented, “You said that the drama would do as well as Park Sung Joon was hated, so it’s doing really well.” Lee Sang Yoon agreed and said with a laugh, “The drama is doing really well. I am being cursed at by people all over the world. If it’s a good thing to be cursed out, then it’s really doing well.”

During the broadcast, Lee Sang Yoon called his co-star, Jang Nara, to ask her how she was doing. Although the drama is still broadcasting, filming ended in October.

Jang Nara said, “I am working a little and exercising regularly. I am studying on my own and receiving vocal lessons.” When asked about the popularity of “VIP,” she said, “I am very grateful. People liked it more than I expected, so I was surprised.”

Lee Sang Yoon asked her if she knew about the response he was getting and she said, “Our drama would not be popular if Lee Sang Yoon’s Park Sung Joon did not exist.” She added later, “I want to say that Lee Sang Yoon really worked hard to act the role of Park Sung Joon. Pyo Ye Jin worked really hard as well. They had to act something that isn’t easy, and they probably felt a lot of confusion, but they centered and led our drama well.”

To describe SJ - Proverbs 6:32 But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself. Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped.

I'm just saying that I feel like I betrayed my gender - by actually "enjoying" & obsessing over this drama. I personally hate that I vested so much into a drama that centers on adultery (with a side of workplace politics thrown in). I really thought there was more to it - I was hoping for a conspiracy or something: that SJ was doing this as a spy or that JS was in on it & they had to act their parts to convince the culprits.  But I'm not hatin' on the actors - they played their parts really well. I never confused LSY w/SJ. That shows the strength of his performance - I would waver between trying to believe the best of him yet seeing the worst of his character.

So I'm over my guilt now. On with the drama....:phew:

@2good2btru the introductory scenes of the matchmaker explained it : she matchmakes sons and daughters of wealthy families. She said her success rate is higher if she has accurate information about them (reason for the interviews : to update her database).

Basically it is political marriage, family-to-family power match, no emotions kind of thing. She laughed at YuRi's 1st reply and told her she should now think as HYR because someone like her would need a rich, powerful husband to help her survive in the Ha family. Look at the people on her dinner table....and Mrs. Ha, her "mother". Of course, HYR must also have something to offer to her groom which at the moment is the only daughter of conglomerate Mr. Ha.  That's what the matchmaker meant.

-----------------------------------------------

The scene of YuRi with the rich lady : rich lady told her - money cannot buy everything - but it is still better to be rich than poor ?

So clearly YuRi is not going to leave the Ha family for her Mr. Park - only poor stu*id Mr. Park SJ did not see that.

I don't think JungSun is pregnant but earlier post mentioned she may have some kind of stomach cancer like her mom - that could be a possibility as I wonder why her mom's section was introduced earlier in the drama.  If she is really pregnant, she will raise the child alone and will not reconcile with her unfaithful husband - how can she ever trust him again ?

I don't quite like the Sang Woo having a crush/romantic feelings for JS bit - it is  cliché - rich younger man pursuing her. JS is strong and independent enough to not need that handle.

The most satisfying scene for me from the last 2 episodes : when Park SJ mom gave him a good scolding and told him how he didn't know he has lost his whole world.

@liltash85 I can normally separate character from real life person playing the part but I was thinking the exact same thing! Lol I felt like her demeanor was very similar to her character YR. I was like, youre kinda friendly to LSY and a bit handsy. Umm no.  Lol

I also felt like she was trying too hard to make it look like off camera that she's close to JNR. As though theyre friends off screen and was constantly hanging on to her.  She's trying not to get hated on by JNR/JS fans but for me made it feel like she was doing what YR did. She used JS to help her and put on that innocent act.  I was like oooh you're too much like YR and not feeling you. Lol

Perhaps because it is something people could relate too. Been there done that, oh how I wish i coukd handle it like them etc. Perhaps because they couldnt release stress or anger, letting it out through the drama is one way to mske themselves feel better.

Ah... i can assure you my life have so much drama, even in my marriage;  if i have the chance to turn back time and do things differently, i would...and provably would not have choosen my husband as my life partner now, haha..... As for work, back-stabbing, nepotism and other politics are so common that one just silently does one's work, be happy and go back home; get your paycheck and watch happy drama at night, travel when there's holiday and be stress free. Yep, that's my life ..  :D

Maybe it is just me but from the making video, i don't like the character of the actress that play YR. i see some similarity in her with YR. Like she is seducing LSY during shooting. hahaha

Jealous? :lol::lol: just kidding.

But the commentator said, they were creating the atmosphere for the episode. So the two cheating characters were preparing for their parts and JS plus others were also preparing for their part. I think the acting in KDs are very good. The only ones that stick in my mind is Everyone says Kungdari.

I watched the preview a few times because I thought JS was bleeding, no it was her hair that fell on her face.

Somebody mentioned her being bumped off.

They won't kill off her character. Good god no. And allow the two to walk into the sunset? No way, no way.

I was so mind-blown :hushed:  like is she dating LSY for real lol. I cannot differentiate real and reel anymore because of this drama hahaha.

Sorry to hear that. Each of us deals with stress differently. Some choose yoga (like watching happy comedy) while others choose kickboxing (like watching dramatic intense thriller).

But I guess I have watched way too many years of dramas to let any of them affect me tremendously. Dramas teach us theories but life is where we practice them. I'd rather save the energy preparing for any hardships throw my way in real life.

I ache for NJS, admire HA for being strong and face her attacker, and happy for MN that she has a supportive husband. As for PSJ character, I am not convinced what he did to his wife was for her own safety and good. He has been doing the dirty deeds for so long, why didn't he "think" for her then but only after she found out about his affair? I personally don't think his character was done right in term of storyline, directing and acting. This character has so much room to develope.

LSY is doing the right thing, showing the face behind the scenes, else he is going to be typecast as an adulterer actor. He already has two dramas as an adulterer. I didn't watch the airport show. It had good ratings Iheard.

:lol::lol::lol: LMAOOOO! Sounds annoying.

I was wondering the same about the YR actress and how this role will impact her career. The character is absolutely hated and the actress is developing a reputation for playing these third party characters. She actually played a cute, supporting role in What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? less than a year ago but all the comments I see about her keep bringing up how she also played a character trying to break up a couple in Fight My Way.

I will say, personally, I am not impressed by her acting. I think she is the weakest actor in the drama by far (Lee Sang Yoon is the second weakest IMO) Yuri's character is repulsive but I feel like in the hands of a better actress the character might at least come across as more complex or a bit less one note but PYJ is incapable of giving the character any emotional depth. She just emanates an air of pathetic self-pity in every scene. And I am beyond tired of her crying or that annoying goldfish expression and, sorry, to get personal but her overbite bugs me so much because of her default :open_mouth: expression. At least her weak acting makes the character even easier to hate lol!

I don't think it's fair to rubbish YR the actress. She is a pathetic character in the series. Even till the last episode, she was the odd one out of the Ha family. Not that we should like or forgive the character but the actress is so inoffensive. She and JNR hugged, just like JNR hugged the little girl.

There is so much bad blood between the two characters that they probably felt the need to 're align'. I noticed after the wine tipping scene on YR, the actress playing the VP's wife was touching YR and asking her if she was alright.

After seeing the preview of ep 15, SJ sounded frantic seeing JS on the floor, I am willing to accept that his one expression all along was demanded by the PD and writer. YR's perpetual wide eyed look must be for the same reason. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. She was fine in fight my way- still the helpless damsel.
We should see more emoting in 15 from everyone, I'm sure.

wah I'm late to the party so I missed the polls..... I'm following the drama and find it interesting. this is the second character played by LSY on having affair while he's married. But he portray his character in VIP better.

seeing the poll somehow I agree with one of its question "Yu Ri is actually the mistress of the VP" i have that thought too... the scene where Sung Joon escort her to the hotel room for the VP still support my thinking.

and for Sung Woo I knew that he is someone important... and guess what he is the foreign minister son... I'm happy for Hyuna she is able to find a real happiness now, and I hope Mi Na won't quit her job if she is I really hope she can start her own business where she can take care her kids as well...

For Jung Sun I wish her happiness, I think its better that the divorce happen and Jung Sun meet another man who loves riding bike as she is and will love her in honesty and in their worst situation, because turns out Sung Joon couldn't love her that much. For Yu Ri I hope she's got her karma, living alone for the rest of her life is suit for her, her innocence is on another level that makes it annoying. And for Sung Joon, what your mom said is right "You really have no idea what you lose...."

Oh , pleases no!:confounded:

I watched both “What’s wrong with Secretary Kim? “ and “Fight My Way” and don’t remember YR in them.

Maybe I was distracted by Park Seo Yoon?!:innocent:
