I have such a good time reading boiling comments from netizens and good reviews from media about this drama. The last time I had this feast was 'Descendants of the Sun'.

I've no word for SJ, since there may be a hidden card of him that is still held by the writer. He is wrong by keeping silent, whether it is a noble idiocy, or he just couldn't help it due to his upbringing. We may get to understand the reason behinds it, but, as my friend once told me that once you hurt someone, it liked you had driven a nail in the wall. You can always apologize and ask for forgiveness, but the scar would always be there. Whatever his reason, he had hurt JS badly. Wow... what a long sentence for 'no word', ;p

However, I really admire the writer who depicts the character of JS as a strong woman with flaws, but not avoiding problems. Maybe, she will hurt in the act. So? She has lost everything, she has nothing to lose. And hell hath no fury like a woman scorn; if I go to hell, so are you, attitude. But, she does that with class. She doesn't want to sign the divorce paper (yet, I hope). She knows SJ will always carry on the guilt of living together with his mistress unmarried. And if he doesn't care, why should she?

Then, she proposes to her highest boss a program to boost VIP memberships+++ The + is to show VP that he should appreciate his employees more for their prestige, not based on like/dislike/family member/not-so-real-family-member/whoever licks his booth and cleans his mess, not to steal other people hard work and commitment, and brings him & his cult members down. The ++ is to bring more money/VIP members to her company. The last +++ is to show the world that she IS a (more than) capable woman, no damsel in distress, who will successfully win the world with her own white horse. Hell, yeah!

And Jang Nara is nailed it!

I’m too invested in this drama, aren’t I? :)

there’s not a single NJS fault. He cheats because he wants to. That’s the reason. He push her away because he wants a divorce not protecting her. Well, that’s what his actions are showing for the past couple episodes.

Total truth! In my book, there is no excuse for SJ's treatment of his wife. Noble idiocy, some say. Yes, if SJ had quietly bowed out of the marriage - like just disappeared. But he stuck around and continued to hurt her over & over again, both publicly & privately. If he has a terminal illness, then JS can pay for some flowers & a cot for YR so he'll have company.

1. The rain scene. The man wasn’t going to YR. Whole time his eyes and body were instinctively on JS. He was rooted in spot facing her and silently debating.

Agree. I don't think he even knew the twit was up there - at least I didn't catch anyone mentioning it. Only when he stepped onto the roof did he notice both. So his intentions were to go to JS. But what's a little rain when he's already made her cry buckets of tears? I still want to find some redeemable quality in him. But sadly I've never been able to read people.

This is a drama- not real, a drama. I say that to keep myself sane, because I can't imagine a woman working in the same office with the "other" woman without it turning into an all out cat-fight. One of the two would be bald & I guarantee it would be the "other" woman.

As i rewatched the preview for today's ep.

it seems like VP's wife had a meet with JS. And i see that there is 2 pictures on the table and then an envelope too. Maybe that's an evidence that can help JS ?

I think she told JS the pictures were enough to destroy both SJ and Yuri.

I have been Lurking around this thread and i can't take it anymore. i need to vent.

While watching Ep13, i was so on the edge that i ended up screaming and punching my pillow. How can the writer be so good as to evoke our emotions this way?  I feel myself facing the same turmoil that JS is going through. Whatever she feels, i feel it too.

Whenever i see that...wench...Yuri, i roll my eyes till they are about to pop outta their sockets. Lord help me.

This Drama is turning me into something i usually ain't. It keeps bringing out violent reactions in me. :tired:

I can manage kiss scenes between other characters but if Yuri happens to get a kiss, i will book a ticket to Korea, find the writer and give her a piece of my mind.

Jang Nara, Shin Jae Ha, Lee Sang Yoon, And Pyo Ye Jin Experience Wildly Contrasting Emotions In “VIP”

Dec 17, 2019
by S. Nam

SBS’s “VIP” has released new stills showing the continuously complicated relationships between Jang Nara, Lee Sang Yoon, Pyo Ye Jin, and Shin Jae Ha!

Spoiler

In recent episodes, Na Jung Sun (Jang Nara) joined Sungwoon Department Store’s CEO Ha Tae Young’s (Park Ji Young‘s) side in order to fight against the “private scandal,” while Park Sung Joon (Lee Sang Yoon) stayed loyal to the vice-president (Park Sung Keun). Meanwhile, On Yoo Ri (Pyo Ye Jin) was promoted to a higher position in the marketing team after it was revealed that she was the daughter of the vice-president born out of wedlock. Having found out about the complicated relationship between the three, Ma Sang Woo (Shin Jae Ha) tried to provide support for Na Jung Sun.

Furthermore, Na Jung Sun suggested the establishment of a black society level to Ha Tae Young in order to counter Park Sung Joon, and the latest episode ended with an explosive confrontation involving the VIP clients management team and the marketing team meeting as a TF (task force) team.

In the new stills, Na Jung Sun is receiving an IV drip while Ma Sang Woo is looking after her. Meanwhile, Park Sung Joon and On Yoo Ri are having a birthday party just between the two of them. While Na Jung Sun appears to be deeply concerned after checking on the tired-looking Ma Sang Woo, Park Sung Joon and On Yoo Ri are enjoying their time together as they light a candle on the cake. Viewers are curious to discover how the relationship between the four characters will unfold.

During the filming, Shin Jae Ha and the staff all filmed amidst a serious vibe in order for Jang Nara to focus on her character’s emotions. Like his character Ma Sang Woo, Shin Jae Ha continued to show support for Jang Nara during the filming, creating a warm vibe on set. On the other hand, Lee Sang Yoon and Pyo Ye Jin rehearsed with a lively mood as their characters managed to enjoy a brief moment of peace.

The production staff shared, “In today’s broadcast, with the creation of the TF team, a new development in the situation will occur. In addition to the [shock delivered by the relationships between] Jang Nara, Lee Sang Yoon, Pyo Ye Jin, and Shin Jae Ha, ‘VIP’ will continue to deliver shocks and twists, so please continue to show interest.”

I must say though, this is an amazing and outstanding drama.

I have to remind myself that it's just fictional. This drama has me in my feels.

I even came up with different scenarios in my head on how Yuri and Sungjoon are dealt with mercilessly.

i commend the writer, directors,  actors and the crew for invoking these kind of emotions in us, the viewers.

Considering how things have gone until Ep 13, I think we can confirm that:

Spoiler
  1. SJ and YR did have an affair.
  2. SJ does love JS more than YR, yet he probably does not know how/if he can make things right between them. Reconciliation wont erase the fact he cheated on JS. If it happened once, there is no guarantee it won't ever happen again.
  3. SJ/YR break up wasn't mutual. When JS came out of her depression, SJ didn''t even hesitated when JS wanted to start over again. Because SJ does love JS and knows what a great woman she is.
  4. YR's stupid message to JS crashed the SJ/JS  restart. He couldn't blame everything on YR, though, because it takes 2 to tango. Due to the similarity between them both, SJ felt that YR needed him more since she is not only daughter of the other woman, she essentially IS the other woman. And SJ is the unlucky dude who made her that.
  5. YR knows that she didn't really won SJ. SJ isn't exactly WITH YR, rather SJ cannot return to JS - refer #2.
  6. YR is daughter of the other woman. And now she is the other woman herself. Big pressure. But she doesn't want people to see her like that. It is humiliating and disgusting. So in the very least, she wants  SJ to NOT see her that way. And of course she is holding on to SJ tightly because what JS told her in front of the locked door is also true.
  7. SJ hopes JS will agree to a divorce, but not because SJ wants to be with YR, but so that JS can free herself of the pain he brings her. But JS won't give him that satisfaction. JS is severely hurt and as long as she is still hurting, she is not going to let him have the peace that JS will be fine when they separate.
  8. SJ's insistence on a divorce to spare further pain to JS is unfortunately interpreted by JS that he loves YR more. But YR knows the truth.
  9. JS has abandonment issues due to her mom. She hates her mom for leaving. SJ chose another woman over her. YR is the other woman and cause of her next abandonment. Js is furious. Hell hath no fury over a woman scorned.
  10. So now their bedroom issues will be brought to the board room as well.

I really want this drama to end with a good and realistic note.

If SJ and JS were to reconcile and continue with their marriage, I really have no guess about what kind of glue is powerful enough to stick them back together. I don't think a baby would be good enough. If JS were to get pregnant, I hope she will raise the baby alone (is this bad of me??), and for SJ to regret this for the rest of his life.

If they were to stay separated, I still want JS to find peace and happiness. And SJ to still regret this for the rest of his life.

Of course I want YR to be regretful too. I'm not sure what kind of ending is best for her though... I even thought about whether or not death will redeem her but can't really figure out a nice end for her. And her VP daddy too while we are at it.

I don't really want JS to end up with Daniel at this point because he is too much of a stranger. If it were to come to that SW would have my vote. Although I'm still of the opinion that JS is merely SW's noona crush because he thinks JS is amazing. Anyway, I'm fine if JS were to end up single (for now) as long as she doesn't have any regrets.

Again, I would like to reiterate that this is my favourite JNR character to date. She should play these edgy, confident type more often. Her character makeover here reminded me of Choi JiWoo in Temptation with all that power suits, but JNR is waaay more fierce. JNR is soooo good in this drama that I can almost feel her anger and wrath. That scene when she:

Spoiler

slapped, grabbed YR's collar, SLAMMED her to the pillar and SHOVED her to the floor was GOLD. Especially considering JNR is really a petite girl in real life...

And she called YR a cow.... :D

Spoiler

I just wished her hand landed a bit more harder on SJ's face....

P.s.: Please please please NO terminal illness or noble idiotic ending!!!

My two cents about this drama....

I would say I don't believe that YR is the daughter BUT I don't think she is the mistress of The VP either. My guess is she is someone hired to be an imposter so The VP can takes control of the company since none of his dad's children has any progeny. This plan is most likely cooked up by both PSJ and VP the reason why PSJ is sticking closely like a leech to YR. He bit more than he could chews and didn't expect that YR is such a wonderful woman (#pukes) who will "understand" him more and he does fell for her.

Now since Wifey found out about his "affairs" and PSJ can't just simply lets go of his and VP's  grand plan, like it or not he just has to makes a choice and he chose VP/YR at the same time trying to protect Wifey.

Add.

Regarding LSY's acting....I do think he is a bit bland..#DucksFromThe Stones. There are some actors who can conveyed their feeling without words like Kim JaeWook in Who Are You??. But LSY have not reached that level yet.

Take back your Two cents! Please do not compare my LSY & your KJW, stay on drama VIP okay. LOL

end of maze.

What a great theory.. Pregnancy..

Its possible as there also hints during VIP daughter birthday party, she get puppy as a gift and become happy. Maybe there is "puppy" inside JS womb now..

She found out about the mistress thing when she will have her period in aboit 14 days time.. Due to nuisance and all the work, she may have missed period and just notice it.. I assume, since the affair things its only about a month or two..

Love reading all your theories.. SJ may need some push to act. So far he always making wrong decision and mistakes.. He may think that the best for JS, but he totally not understand women and their needs.. He just need to talk over it. It may take sometimes / forever to get forgiveness, but he need to fight for it.

Haha.. hopefully she is pregnant and wait until legally divorced then break the news..

SJ is not worthy as a husband, a shameless man wth no conscience.

He showed no respects at all to women, wife, VP's wife and even to YR (after breaking off, have her in his team as tho nothing happened bet them). A mentally sick man.

If she does find out she is pregnant, and a big IF at that since it aint been confirmed. My guess would be she would take down husband first destroy them all then divorce him and try to avoid him finding out about the baby.  He will find out about it later and go into extra remorse mode after the first pregnancy issue.  Depends on how badly she takes him down as to whether i want them back together or not actually.

She has people around her that support her which is great, they wont drop another relationship on her this late in the game as it would be an insult to the plot line and it doesnt work that way in kdramaland.  So it would be more of a case of supportive secrets and you can make what you want to beleive out of our relationship, true or not.

Am I the only one who doesn't want the pregnancy angle?

a) The timing is just not right. She needs to go to the battlefield with all guns blazing.

b) More importantly, I don't want her to have any 'reminder' of the betrayal. It is just too painful.

I don't think there would be any 'romantic angle' either because K-dramas always skip this when the male lead has been a complete jerk. A case in point Jang Nara's last drama, 'The Last Empress'. Realistically speaking, of course it's too soon to get into another relationship soon after a traumatic one. So I kind of understand why the writers avoid it but the foolish heart knows no logic. :tears:

I totally agree with you. Na Jung Sun deserves better. I don't want a surprise pregnancy and associated melodramatic makjang either. Let her focus on this battle, rest and heal mentally, physically and emotionally and move on with her life completely free of any ties to that traitor.

@MrsSoJiSub I agree that LSK's acting is very good here maybe his best. I observed his body language as I rewatch earlier episodes. When he clenched his fist or his jaw probably in disgust and him turning his wedding ring when ever he does those 'job' for VP says a lot about his feelings. Did anyone noticed that SJ is still wearing his wedding ring. Still I'm trying to make sense of his latest actions.

While YR's reasoning for sending the text to JS was childish, there was no confession of love only that she was jealous of JS that she couldn't match up to her.  If YR was acting to lure SJ to herself on someone's order then she was doing a good job of it. I also find her desperation to hold on to SJ not align to her being VP's daughter. She said to JS on the roof top that she did it because she was desperate. Why try do hard to grab something that doesn't belong to her when she is already VP's daughter unless she'll be kicked out if she didn't perform.

For sure I'm hating SJ's actions but I'm enjoying JS/SJ's fight.
