Soooo happy and excited still haha I don’t think this excitement is going to die down anytime soon  I’m never going to be able to sleep at this stage seeing as I keep staying up until very late in the night (or should I say early morning) rewatching HB/SYJ videos and my fav parts in CLOY 

 

I hope anyone who is disappointed can be happy for our sweet couple soon or just accept and move on. I think it’s fairly clear that the majority of famous people (especially the ones at the top of the game) don’t want their relationships exposed because it can overshadow their career but most importantly, in my opinion, they probably just want to get to know each other and grow a strong foundation for the relationship first prior to making it public/official. In this case, it’s very clear that SYJ is INCREDIBLY private and she most certainly would not want to publicly announce a relationship unless she knows it’s with ‘the one’ and HB seems to have very much respected her and her decision. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted the same too though given he has been in high profile relationships before so he probably wanted his next confirmed relationship to also be his last and there’s nothing wrong with them wanting to spend time with each other without even more media attention and paparazzi following them.
 

Anyways I think the majority of fans have already expressed similar if not the same views but I just wanted to emphasise and share my two cents lol 

 

I’m just so happy for these two and I feel like we have all waited for forever to have a proper confirmation. SYJ and HB are literally THE dream couple and I’m so glad it’s no longer a dream for us all

It’s amazing that even after few days, BinJin’s announcement is still raging both in conventional media and in social media. I guess, if BinJin announced earlier, this kind of thing would happen as well and might drown whatever achievement CLOY have. Can you imagine CLOY might have not win any of the awards because BinJin overshadowed it? The hard work of everyone involved in the production would not be celebrated and recognised.

 

I think, other than the issue of their privacy, this also came into BinJin’s mind. They did not (do not) want to overshadow everyone’s hard work. I think, this will continue as BinJin’s modus operandi. As much as us, fans, want to see them together, they might not show it that much. They might attend awards/events separately, they might take romantic roles with other actor/actress, they might not talk that much on their personal life on the media. I hope, when that happens, fans can understand the reason behind it.

@Intuition1 Thanks for sharing that.  That was really interesting.  Google/IG translate is not really good enough even for a direct translation, sure we are losing a lot of the nuance in the meaning behind the language choice. Thanks to fans fluent in Korean & English for pointing them out.  I do think all signs indicate this is already a very serious relationship with a view to becoming a family together in the future hehehe.

 

Do you guys think they call each other Yejin and Bin (surely they can drop the -sshi?) Or do they call each other by their real names?  Does anyone call them by their real names other than their families/people who knew them before their stage names?  Funny to think of Yejin being hopefully Mrs Kim one day. Though I'm not sure anyone will actually call her that lol.  I'm personally a fan of keeping your own name, but to each their own.

 

I was always a bit mystified by the formality/emphasis on seniority issue between them both in how they called each other, given they are born in the same year.  Is it still a big deal in Korean culture even for people in their generation and younger?  Or is it an acting industry thing?  HB didn't want to call her noona but called her Actress Son, and would it have been appropriate for SYJ to call him oppa or dongsaeng? I would have thought 2 people so close in age who are peers would just switch to first names pretty quickly and not really think of one as older/younger.  Maybe my Asian culture is less formal.  Those more knowledgeable about Korean culture please enlighten me. 

 

ETA: OK that whole video from those Korean girls was so fun to watch.  It was like a video version of this thread lol.  Party time!!

As far as I know Korean wives do not necessarily follow their husbands' family names. As for my Korean mother-in-law, she retains her maiden name. Korea has an extensive family registry database.
