Why does your airport have security checks at the gate instead of when entering the airport? I would be stocking up on all the kaya jars I could from the Ya Kun Kaya located in the terminal building (which btw was closed for renovation

Good buy! Glad you got a stash! There is a shop after immigration where you can get bigger jars - they seal it for you the same way as liquor/perfumes you buy. Duty free too if exiting the country. Next time?

 

I find the checks at gates strange too - it’s the only one that does it this way if I am not wrong. I can’t stand that I sometimes forget and buy a drink just to guzzle it up before boarding. Then I got to pee the moment the plane levels.
 

They get you at the last minute! Muahahaha!

Chingu, that's still less than one cup of coffee in my country and many other European countries too.

In some countries in the ME, the coffee is even MORE expensive.

The Ya Kun Kaya in terminal 3 was being renovated though. Is there another shop?

Hmmm... I feel like I've been to other airports that have the security checks at the gates, but normally those are just EXTRA checks because the airline might require it due to the destination country. Extra checks have happened for me e.g. in Fiji, Ecuador, Argentina, etc. when I've been flying out of them.
