But at least so many passengers to die together @ktcjdrama (ship leader), @triplem & @Ameera Ali (VP)

Why you always pushing me to be the leader? Even with Biology teacher too...

What is VP, btw? Okay, fine I will be ship leader if you jump on. I will be like Jun Wan, taking a bigger responsibility for the sake of a bigger cause ;)

Anyone else on this thread who has watched it?

One of my first dramas. I hated the ending then, as a noob watcher; but if I watch again now, probably will have a different take and say it is fitting to the drama.... ??

lol - I didn't watch until 2015 and let's just say I was prepared for the ending. TBH watching it, it occurred to me that there really wasn't any other choice. What a mess the leads made, but their performances were stellar! If they ever do remake it, I kind of hope that they would dare to choose another ending. I do think they would have to make some pretty major changes to the actual story line too to make that happen.

@triplem im watching Perfect Proposal now. Quite scandalous movie lols. But YYS really handsome :w00t: I like their dance too....

never heard of this movie. so I looked up the plot...

those dance pics reminded me of the really old movie 'anastasia' with yul brynner where he teaches ingrid bergman to dance. has anyone seen that actor? waah, he would really smoulder in all his movies! :sweatingbullets::lol:.. he was in 'king and I', 'the 10 commandments' and some other really famous classic hollywood movies. chingus, if you haven't seen anastasia, check it out -- its there floating on youtube and it is an old fashioned dark romance.

Well, I want to travel with my gallery of oppas....pwhahahaha of cause...not gonna happen.

if I’m given a chance..hm...Lee Seung Gi will be a good choice! :)

Lee Seung Gi is an EXCELLENT choice! I think you should aim higher, though, and meet two more oppas. Who would they be? :innocent:

@Lmangla As an "ahjumma" <sigh>, yes I know who Yul Brynner is. :joy: I remember watching "The King and I" as a kid.

I know we're always fanning over the current actors, but it's definitely worthwhile checking out older movies. There were some unbelievably hot actors in the old days. For me it was a complete surprise when I realized that Clint Eastwood was so handsome in his early movies.  Paul Newman was pretty charismatic as well.

It would be fun to know why the rest of you chose your profile names and what/who it refers to. :)

meant to write this yesterday but then forgot...

profile names are always tricky and at least for me, it depends on what is going on in that day and even my other profile names and email reflect that. sometimes it is just random. I originally thought of teagarden but decided against it for some reason. the other option I thought of was  'Lmangla' -- was thinking of my grandparents that day and took their names as inspiration. L is from my grandfather's name and mangla is a variation of my grandmother's name which means 'good fortune'/'auspicious'.. kind of sentimentally attached to this profile name and wouldn't change it.

used to change my DP really often (something like once a week or two weeks) but have gotten lazy -- think I am just not inspired anymore. my DP which I have had for a few months is turkish actor engin akyürek from the drama 'kara para ask' -- the drama made me totally squeal! ^_^

my dad loved old hollywood movies and so grew up watching all these classic action and WWII movies with him. actors from that era had a different kind of star power that is very difficult to describe or replicate. it wasn't just about their looks but there was something quite magnetic about their performances and the way movies were shot. have you watched the great escape? I cried buckets at the ending especially since it was based on real facts. paul newman was so amazingly cool in that movie.

Lol, I also know Ingrid Bergman, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn. Their star power, I think none of the current western actress are comparable? Maybe Winona Ryder or Natalie Portman a bit closer with the style & elegancy...

absolutely! I don't know what it was about actors and actress from that era. even in our local cinema, the actress from that era were stunning. what is odd is that they didn't have a size zero figure and were basically normal sized or what we call 'healthy'. even in very conservative outfits, they stood out like queens -- very stylish, elegant and sexy at the same time.

Classic era movies are all quite elegant & timeless. My favourite dance will be from Gone with The Wind. Vivian Leigh & Clark Gable make a gorgeous pair.

Gone With The Wind is such an amazing movie! The actresses and actors were so much more elegant in the old day. Kathrine Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Montgomery Clift, Gloria Swanson, Gene Kelly, etc. were in their own league.

I haven't watched The Great Escape. Paul Newman was amazing together with Elizabeth Taylor in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".

I can tell you that THE best actress of all time, Bette Davis, was such an amazing actress that no one (except for maybe Meryl Streep) today can act as well as she did! I was quite mesmerized by her performance the first time I saw her in a movie...

@partyon ~ the great escape had steve mcqueen, not paul newman. got the actors mixed up. it was such a cool movie. there was some really amazing movies based on real life WWII stories.
