The only bully-free school that exists today is....the school of the Deaf and the Blind.

Bullying is the nature of the beast....or someone who has the power over another...i.e. in size, looks, color, wealth and physical ability. It happens to people, animals, birds, insects, sea creatures...and all living things.

Same with a one-sided marriage....he/she who has power... dominates; whether it is consciously or unconsciously. Worst if the man is a beast...who sinks deeper and deeper into insecurity, inadequacy, or deficiency of whatever.

As to being a rebel.... it is the biggest fraud (a hoax)... or fabricated noble intentions for the sake of equality, fairness, justice, political correctness and all that jazz. Look at ex-rebels Marx, Stalin, Mao, Castro, etal... on Communism, Marxism, Socialism and their idea of Utopia which never happened, and where they eventually became the dictator and masterbully. Nothing but a self-serving-hypocritic-oath-of-activism to say the least. Apologize to those  offended by this point of view.

Anyway, so far it is still about the powerful... imposing their determined will over another, who is weak.  But I am still looking forward to how love blooms in the face adversity. Just love Lee Bo Young's ability and delivery of this human experience, like in her other drama Mother.

bullying happens cause there are no laws to protect the powerless individuale against the bullies .its a failure of the system and the society  , you are asked to fight your own way alone in your young years and if you were bullied it must be somehow your fault   ... I was not bullied by one person it was always a whole gang   and they were not superior in any way .. they were just vindictive and poisonous and destructive  and they must have came of similar environments .... use of power that in its reality exhibition of weakness , cowardice  and insecurity ...same thing in marriage or any situation where power is taken or given ....

concerning your view on activism...... on one hand its true that ideologies are usually frauds that make use of youth to acquire power and become tyrants ...... but this is one thing and protesting and revolution against injustice is another , even if the change will never be ... its the one weapon of the powerless masses ....

its for JH to find if there is cause that is worth it..

@triplem, I’m hoping JH will take expose and takedown his FIL. Even if he had other plans before he met JS again, somehow I believe she and her situation will remind him that the powerless needs someone to fight for them too.

@thistle, sorry we missed that video. I’ve never heard a song by IU that I didn’t like. There’s a beautiful duet of hers called My First Love that was used in the weekend Tailor Shop drama for the OTP. Still love hearing that song.

Ep. 7 Quick Recap. I'm just gonna touch on the plot very briefly off the top of my head.

1995

Jaehyun's imprisoned for a short time. Upon his release, he finds out from Dongjin that Jisoo is going to study abroad. JS' dad wants her to go to Frankfurt because he believes in the saying "Out of sight, out of mind" and it's also good for her classical piano studies. At the airport, JS' mom and sister send her off. JS sister accidentally blurted out it's some kind of a matchmaking in disguise since JS is going to live with her relatives (I might be wrong here). JH runs to the airport and finally meets JS who decides to leave the departure hall. She's not flying.

JS and JH take a train to Gangchon, an area in the countryside where JH knows a sunbae who rents out an accommodation. On the train, JS says she's going to marry JH. Upon their arrival, they take a walk and JS writes "Jaehyun♥Jisoo for a million years. 1995.5.12" on the wall. At night, they sit outside to see the stars and Jaehyun admits he feels sorry for her because he loves her. They end up sleeping together.

2020

Sehun gets excited when Jisoo says she's going to come back to him. There's a talk about reuniting. Sehun goes on a house-viewing with Youngmin and YM sends JS a video of the house saying that it's the house they're going to live in. JS obviously is not fully on-board with this and gets distracted a lot because she keeps thinking of JH. JS goes to see Youngwoo and he finally confesses his feelings for her. YW is also hurt that JS decides to get back together with Sehun. Dongjin meets JS for a cup of coffee and he says he wants to help with her custody issues. She rejects the offer because there's no need for it. In the process of forgetting JH, JS donates the bike and guitar from JH.

Seokyung remembers the time when she fell for Jaehyun back in 2000. At the time, both are Hyung Sung Group employees. They go on a site visit and JH wants to take the subway when SK insists they take the car. They end up taking the subway where SK loses one of her shoes. Jaehyun goes back to find her shoe and gets his face dirty. SK sees him like a knight in shining armor. During company dinner, JH & SK get drunk and outside they admit they've lost something: JH lost a person whereas SK lost her mother.

In the present, JH finds out about the kissing video and who leaked it (SK). He makes a call to JS saying he wants to meet her but she can't because she's far away. JH finds out where she is when he hears a train announcement that says Gangchon on the background. JS takes one last walk in Gangchon and goes back to the same wall she wrote on back then. The writing is still there. While waiting for the train back to Seoul, JH shows up on the train platform and JS says her final goodbye to him (like in the preview). She hops on the train, leaving JH alone in Gangchon. JH goes to the wall again, this time he adds something underneath, "Hwayang Yeonhwa* for a million years". JH meets SH, he tells him to upload the video and he doesn't care if it'll affect his investigation.

*Hwayang Yeonhwa refers to both the drama title and Chinese characters "花樣年華" which literally means flower-like life/glorious years. Google it up to see the interpretations.

That's all I can remember haha sorry if I missed anything!

Ep. 8 Text Preview

Amidst his risky position as a whistleblower, Jaehyun stands up against Sehun for the sake of Jisoo. Motivated by the way Jaehyun and Jisoo would do things for each other's sake, Seokyung and Sehun put Jaehyun and Jisoo in an even more difficult situation. Just like what Jaehyun does for her, Jisoo herself tries to be Jaehyun's Asillie (t/n: I think they meant Achilles? Lol nope according to Korean comments it's for "asylee"). Meanwhile, in 1995, Jaehyun sneaks into a cathedral while trying to escape. In a moment of desperation during a long chase, someone's warm hand leads Jaehyun.

@enchantedyears @triplem many thanks for the recap. I’m glad to hear Young Min is not on board with his mother marrying his “no good” father. I still stand by my point that somebody needs to save Ji Soo from herself. She’s so accustomed to choosing a dark path. She’s probably convinced that as long as she alone suffers it does not matter because those she love will be safe/happy. However, this is not the case in reality for those she love. Neither Young Min nor JH plus her friends want to see her choose this path again.

I saw the scene where Jae Hyun went to visit the ex who was sitting all smug and his body language was like that of a king sitting on his throne. I suppose he thought that Jae Hyun would tremble before him. I love when the smug expression dissipated after he heard Jae Hyun’s last words before the episode ended. I’m sure he won’t be going away any time soon but I hope at least he lost this round good and proper.

@triplem thank you for recapping, too!

@celebrianna you're welcome :) It's clear that YM looks hesitant when he's house-viewing with SH. Even he talks to his grandma very obediently as if he's scared of her. I'm not into all of this...

@jongski I kinda wish WMLB would end like On the Way to the Airport where the kid accepts the separation and thinks no matter where their parents are, they believe the parents will still work as hard to provide for them, they'll still love them and live happily. If the writer ends it like TWOTM... I have no words lol it's too much and too bleak

Ahh cute!! Turns out LBY and LTS worked together back in 2011!

So wait, Ji Soo is supposed to marry the ex the next day? Yuck! He already sent the chaebol wife a copy of the marriage application. This is just too much. It’s very hard for me to watch a woman who has little power over her life even now she’s an adult. I know the scheming duo of the ex and the chaebol wife will continue their conspiracy but I wish Ji Soo would stand up for herself against the ex who foolishly thinks holding her hostage is love.

I know JH will probably be criticized for telling yucky ex that he can take the child and he’ll take Ji Soo. However, I think JH probably realizes the ex’s scheme is to use the child to hold Ji Soo hostage. Bar friend probably filled him in on the ex’s scumminess. Well, even if he maintains custody of Young Min, I hope it’s only for a time and Ji Soo will fight for her child. He’s away at boarding school most of the time anyway so hopefully she will take DJ up on his offer and fight the ex.

The bar friend finally confessed. Heh. It looks like he’s friend zoned for life. He’s a good friend but I still think he’s cowardly for ratting out JH in the past. After all, no good deed should go unpunished here.

JH needs to get out of that family. The FIL is setting him up for a fall. Looks like he’s conspiring with prosecutors to imprison JH. One of the prosecutors though, seemed irritated by the FIL. I hope this show ends with FIL rotting in jail.

The love of ex-husband for JS is the love of possession. He keeps being as a demanding child who would like all the world must supply him everything he wants. He never has the love including sacrifices as JS or even JH, love is making the others happy and avoiding the harmful circumstance so he decided for fighting JS by the " strong weapons" that are YM and JH.  In fact, he is aware that JS can ignore herself and only focus only to YM and JH. But diamond cuts diamond JH well understand the thought and plan of JS's ex-husband. That's why JS is ready to protect JS without fear of publicity of video clip recording deep kiss on the beach.

Until now, I never dislike JH's wife though she's selfish, does not care about the others' emotion but she truly loves JH, she scared of the love of JS's ex-husband for JS because she's lonely princess and her mom passed away when she was only little child, she needs love and care of JH but she does not to make him hurt and get him to jail again, she's little foolish. She only thought that all fault belonged to JS and concentrated to avenge JS, she cannot recognize her fault in marriage.

I think the real evil is JH FIL and JS Ex Husband

JH FIL is the one who take him as a freedom card from jail. He make jaehyun goes to jail for his crime and no wonder JH plot against him. Because he is being treated as mere pawn and just slave for her daughter happiness. And also calling him a dog to raise. Wow.

SK as far as i see although she act like spoiled child and do something stupid but it shows that yeah she loves jaehyun but atleast she is not in the low level JS ex husband was.

He is just the worst and blackmailing someone to go back to you?? Go away son

So do you guys think jisoo will remarry with ex husband? Or will jaehyun stop the plan?

Gaaah, I lost count how many times my eyes got watery while watching episode 7... and finally at the train platform, the gates of tears broke...

The level of poignancy in this drama is really nothing I have experienced before.

I too agree that SK does love JH. I think  she will eventually let go of JH just so as he won’t continue to become her father’s sacrificial lamb.

This drama made me turn back time. When watching the scene of the walls in Gangchon station, it reminded me the summer of 1995, I also wrote down "dodomummim aus Vietnam" on the Berlin wall like JH told JS that many Korean people had written something on this wall and in fact, I felt shy currently but at the age of 17-18 year old, like them, I was eager and enjoyable to do that.

And it's easy for me to let tears going out because it is similar to my youth in high school and college time full of innocence and youth, fearless with everything. But my first love was only beautiful, remarkable but I never want to meet him again due to current marital status of both of us. I don't let the past can affect negatively the present time.

As regards to JS, the divorce affected every aspect of her life but when she got familiar with the routine rhythm, nothing could change her daily life but JH appeared, SY pushed her to come back marriage life, her bar friend told her the buried love within 27 years, everything seemed mess up around her poor and boring life. Now she felt down at the weakest point. When she decided to close every door to turn back happy or unlucky as well painful memories by donating the bicycle and guitar that had been gifted by JH and went back last time to Gangchon station including all experiences of the escape from her father in the past; and finally, she met JH and he swore to protect her in front of her. What should she do, should she give up everything to go with him again like 25 years? No, she cannot do that because now she's not still a young girl, she must be responsible for her little son and unfortunately, her ex-husband can withdraw her son from her life. Poor her :(

@ktcjdrama @triplem The chaebol wife is not as bad as the JS’ ex but the jury might still be out on her until the drama ends. I can’t ignore the fact that she actually joined hands with the ex to give him the trump card he needs to blackmail JS. She seems to think it’s okay for both her and JH to have flings but at the end of the day who knows how she’ll react when she realizes she just might lose JH. I suspect she will continue to use JS’ ex to solve her problems because it’s probably more effective than trying to control JH.

Jae Hyun look so dorky with glasses.:w00t: So that's how Seo Kyung fell hard for him, cause he melted her cold heart oh please!:P At least she finds Ji Soo's ex creepy so she does have discernment LoL. I still don't like her though.-_-

Oooh la la~ young Jae Hyun know how to kiss eheheh. And geez Young Woo must you also join in the fun to tear our otp apart!? Haven't you done enough oy? It's like Ji Soo is in a competition with 3 suitors ha-ha. Of course I hope the winner's Jae Hyun.. what he said to Ji Soo's jerk of an ex was nothin' short of amazing. That's a keeper right there.;)

And I'm so sick of second lead characters in most K-Dramas that harbour one-sided crushes and then choose to confess when the ML/FL has someone. And to add further, they try to ruffle feathers by threatening them, as seen with Ji Soo's ex using his son as a pawn for goodness sakes.
