I guess I need to watch Episode 13 with subs before i say to much. But even like that today was great again. I felt so sorry for KDC today. I tried the english serie but extremly the character of the chief don´t grow on me. But gladly its different with KDC. But sorry - somehow it serves him well to stay on the other side one time - but I guess it will not change the old hunting dog.

So - KHS really is dead... and I feel sorry for him. Sure he became a bad person - but he for real was created. All his victims where related to him and his Brother and he had gone through hell...

still his Love for his Brother and sister remains... I feel sorry and sad because we can imagine what great guy he could have become. Life is about chances - and about using them. So the little Brother now has his reason to turn bad and to hate TJ. What we don´t see is his story and what lays between the times - but I fear he had not a good life. Orphanage and no money... and a deep wound and hate inside... not the right incredients to live well.

So we have a new Player on the chestbourd. And when he is the voice he is difficult to handle. I will not trust him.

Betrayed by a very good friend... that was a bitter pill for KHS - but on the other hand we have TJ who seems to understand more and more that even he tries to avoid it - he got friends in that time.

I will wait now for the subs... and in the meantime I will find some sleep.

Article: Naver 'Life on Mars' Park Sung Woong arrested for murder, "I don't remember"

Time flies in an instant!

2. [+23,-0]
Ah, seriously. This must be Jung Kyung Ho's life drama. It's rare for me to watch a drama without looking at the time, but watching this drama, time passes by so quickly. I watch Mr Sunshine, and Life On Mars on weekends, to be honest, Life on Mars is better at being immersive. Actor Kwak Jeong Wook left scarily..... Seems like he will be going back to year 2018. I wonder what will happen~

3. [+23,-1]
Really interesting~~~ It's ending soon.. it's too thrilling.

4. [+20,-1]
Ah seriously, someone just make a deduction. I can't imagine what the ending would be.

5. [+14,-0]
Super fun.... a drama where you can't predict what's going to happen next.

6. [+11,-0]
This isn't just a time slip.. It's really interesting.

7. [+6,-0]
I give up trying to deduce.  It's impossible to predict. ㅋㅋ Life On Mars is a drama where time flies while watching.

8. [+4,-0]
Interesting!!

9. [+3,-1]
Too interesting.

10. [+2,-0]
He have to see what he believes now. ㅜㅜ  Please don't follow the original, and make it a happy ending~~

I knew this was coming but why do I feel sad that he’s going to open his eyes ? Was Na Young tearing up in the preview ? Did he reject her ? :tears:

I'm so impatient. I also want to know what is happening and what will happen, why is nayoung crying in the preview, who is the new spectacled dude? Huhu. But at the same time i feel its bittersweet that the drama is coming to its end. I will miss LOM. It has been a fantastic ride. Hoping for the best in its final 3 episodes! Fighting LOM! May it end on a high note ^_^

For those interested, LOM original version ending under spoiler tag below:

Just watched ep 13, quite disappointed they disregarded TJ's gut knife wound immediately after he woke up? Come on, at least let him walk in pain or something ! Arrrrgh

Yeah. He was in no pain at all. Not to mention he also had a nearmiss gunshot before that. His wounds seem to heal superfast or just dissappear in this dreamland. At least nayoung did tell him to take some rest since he is not fully healed.

But the thing that surprised me was the identity of spectacle dude.

Spoiler

He's a neurosurgeon who will perform surgery on taejoo in 2018, a surgery that will remove the cause of taejoo's coma. Mindblown really. Very detailed storytelling.

It's probably evident to everyone that the show is now barreling towards the endgame. Because the show has so far been quite faithful about taking on board all the main elements of the original, I speculate that we're headed for the UK ending. I personally liked the UK ending despite some unanswered questions but seeing that TJ will wake up sooner rather than later, my feeling is that the show runners seem prepared to give more exposition about what the heck happened to TJ than the original did.

Crime of the week wasn't exactly a stretch. I don't expect anyone to weep over the loss of Chief Kim at the station. Aside from basking in borrowed glory and taking credit for the work of others, he's the stereotypical bureaucrat who represents everything bad about "the system". In short, he's a weasel and a right royal pain in the neck who is beholden to his political masters. On some level we're meant to see that his being bludgeoned with his newly acquired achievement plaque to be a kind of poetic justice. Although the motive has not yet been given, it's not hard to guess that someone has had a gutful of this man's machinations and since a dying man has not a lot to lose, he strikes.

I am someone who thinks that TJ does like NY but because he doesn't know from one day to the next if he's coming or going, he can't or he doesn't feel it's appropriate to commit himself. I'm sure he knows only too well how she feels about him when after all, she has a photo of him stashed between the pages of her notebook on top of all the other hints. NY is the unerring optimist. Even when she's been "demoted" to doing traffic mascot duty, she can still see a silver lining in the dark cloud. I guess she would have to be if she's waiting around for TJ who seems to have his mind in other places. ;)

It is fascinating that until this episode TJ was still labouring under the assumption that he is there to resolve personal issues and once that has been resolved, it's back to Kansas. KMS and his rampaging sibling have been nipped in the bud, so to speak. But instead of magically waking up in 2018, he's still stuck in 1988. He's right, I daresay, in so far as why he's in 1988 but it now appears that there's another layer to the coma thing. Or is there? His regular doctor tells him that a specialist in a form of neurosurgeon who has exactly the same name as the cop who has come to investigate Chief Kim's murder. So what is the relationship between the lump in his brain, the neurosurgeon and DC? There are hints of one. Does this investigator have an agenda?

I personally think DC's case is for TJ's growth. TJ is a realist, who rely heavily on facts and evidences. If going by TJ's views, earlier on DC is guilty as all evidences were pointing to him as the killer. TJ was acting out of norm by helping DC, putting relationships and trust first before evidence that was not on DC's side. It's a recurring theme, NY also said to TJ : 'the truth could be more important than the fact sometimes' during yong-gi and namshik's case.

Awww. This pic is heartwarming :)

Awww. Sail away my TJxNY ship ahaha

I was wondering will TJ wake up?

I didn't expect Chief Kim to be killed.. The question is who really killed him?

The Director Ahn who came to investigate is the surgeon who is going to do op on TJj?

Cannot wait for ep14..

As of ep 13, it seems that DC's senior is now the main suspect of chief kim's murder. I cant wait for ep 14 too! I have so many questions~

Just watched Ep 13 because I didn't want the agony of waiting what happens next.

I don't feel that it is such a simple case that DC's friend is the one who killed Chief Kim.I would need motive first.

I think that DC's friend killed himself because of his terminal illness.

I feel creeped out by Chief Ahn from Seoul. He always has that half-smile and it looks like he is secretly amused about something.

I hope that the mystery will be cleared up soon. I have a feeling I may stand up and say "Bravo' once this drama is wrapped up.

Can I say how I loved the authenticity of the setting and the props they are using. It really feels like 1988 where there are no CCTVs (so DC and TJ can sneak into the medical centre) , people actually eating and conversing in restaurants (not on their cellphones and ignoring each other)

PS. Anyone has a streaming link? Please PM. Kamsahamnida in advance!

I’m watching it live . But unable to give full recaps as I only have one device with me. Darn it just saw the part where she ask him about why he doesn’t like  it here ( or something like that ) and he says can’t stay and apologises. And our gal tears up immediately

Oh nayoung :tears:

Watching it.

A lot of bonding moments within the team.

At this point, after a meal together, DC has disappeared from TJ's home (where he was hiding) and Chief Ahn has appeared at TJ's place.

PS. I have a feeling that the scenes are purposefully shot in a grayish blue hue to add authenticity to the time setting.

Crap!

Chief Ahn has handed TJ bank books which show deposits in DC's name. Noooooooo

They are talking seriously in the car.

TJ gets upset and screams that it's a dream and gets out of Chief Ahn's car.

I bet you that it will end with TJ waking up in 2018 and we will have to wait one more week!

Ok.. now I know why I didn't like the half smile man.

Spoiler

He killed DC's friend! All caught on audio tape.

Just awesome today.

I need to watch with subs before I can comment.

But I fear... he's back to 2018.

No preview but the ad for Voice 2 is out. (Another reminder that next week is IT!)

I really feel like I am on Mars right now. I m enjoying this weird confusion.

This episode showed he had really bonded with his team. Now I am wondering if all the members represent some part of TJ - whether as the ID or EGO or SUPEREGO.

I feel for TJ as he keeps getting bashed by different objects, manhandled, run over by cars, punched by others ...the list goes on. I think that JKH is killing it as TJ as he has the weariness and wariness of someone who is not sure where he is or what he is supposed to do. And I am now accepting that the eyebags are par for the course in his situation.

I think life on mars is JKH's drama of a lifetime. LOM revolves around TJ, and he is in nearly every scene. His acting is immersive and believable. At times he looks wary and unsure of what he needs to do. At times he is determined to do something and pursue it with all his might. I feel that he was lonely and out of place when he first arrived in 1988. It was satisfying to see TJ grow bit by bit in 1988 and embrace his colleagues, actually make friends, sometimes he bestows his future knowledge with them and have fun along the way.

Anyways i'm glad his stab wound was addressed in ep 14. It seems that TJ was functioning on adrenaline. Huhu.

I'll wait until ep 14 is available with subs to watch and share my comments on the ep.

Recap for ep13 is available! Yay!

Just finished watching E13 + 14.  Very very good.  JKH gave his all in this drama, was no joke when he said he hurt.  I hurt from just watching.  Poor him.  Hope tvN send them to a far away island for R&R.  No telephone no TV for a whole week!  They all deserve it.   Rating is 4.695% for E14.

Ah... that was awesome. The show managed to throw in quite a few twists for good measure. :D  I spoke too soon apparently and Detective Shin didn't do himself in nor was he involved in murder or corruption. ;) It's a K drama after all, what's a K drama without corruption in high places... again. :D I really enjoyed what they did here bringing in the Seobu Gang from several episodes ago and connecting that with DC, Detective Shin, Chief Kim, Chief Ahn and TJ's surgery. This writer is very, very good in being able to to bring disparate threads and tying them all together. And awwww...  at the end of the day, it's all about trust. The team isn't the problem but the solution. Perhaps that's the lesson he needed to learn from 1988.

Who knows... with that kind of cliffhanger... we might have a different kind of ending and a different kind of explanation. ;)

Spoiler

With that episode ending the show seems to have turned the themes of the BBC series on its head.

I know I'm very biased but I think JKH is all kinds of fantastic in this. When news of his casting first hit this place, I was excited because I knew he would do this role justice and my word... he surely has. HTJ doesn't say much but from the way JKH plays him, the angst and the frustration is palpable. We feel his desperation, his confusion, weariness and his lostness that's conveyed with so much authenticity. He chose well too. When he said he was happy with the script, I had an inkling that this one would turn out well. It was nice to see TJ smile broadly in that last episode... I've really missed JKH's smile which was one of his greatest assets in other shows that I've seen him in and in that secret dinner scene, it did feel like he was finally feeling a bit at home in 1988.  What gave me a lot of pleasure in this episode and the previous one was seeing TJ do smarty nerdy things like throw soju bottles at electric switches.

The part that really blew my mind was seeing how cooperative Yong Gi was with TJ... being unusually accommodating and deferential. :D I really felt like I had been transported to Mars each time he did what he was told. Of course, YG would do anything for DC and anyone who was helping DC was probably his new best friend.

Just excellent! I may give the standing ovation at the end of this series (I have doubts about Korean endings..meh)

This episode has one of the few times that we actually see TJ smile.

2eEHdX.png
WRANxP.png

So he makes a decision to trust what is in front of him and goes help his friends who he has bonded with in 1988. However, in the end, he still ends up in 2018.

Not sure what is in store for the next two episodes but I will really miss the 1988 characters and hope we still get to see them.

Will it be strange if he starts seeing the 1988 gang in 2018? Maybe as their older selves?

It makes me wonder whether he would make a decision to stay in 1988 if he could. But if 1988 is a dreamlike world aka Mars, then it would mean a coma or death.

Arghh.... so many questions! 6 more nights to go!
