I'm watching a culinary show and I have a curiousity. Are insects really eaten in Asia? I mean it is a common food? Or it is a delicacy? I heard about a Chinese delicacy named Century egg. Is there anyone here who have tried it? I am not brave enough to try it. Never.

not all parts of asia.. but it's a really common street food in thailand, vietnam and cambodia..

in the philippines, there is something exotic called balut..

yes, chinese has this preserved egg called century egg..

for someone who love all sorts of egg dishes (but i dun like egg whites in sunnyside up, or poached eggs), i wince at the sight of century eggs! it's not a taste that i can accept lol

I dont eat insects.  LOL no! 
But i have seen them in Bangkok streets where they do sell umm, fried insects eg grasshoppers etc 
I saw other stuff too - but urggh ... no, thank you

As for Century eggs, yes, it is a Chinese delicacy  - we can eat as it is or cook it in congee

@Sleepy Owl so far it's been really good. But I don't trust kdramas now days. They can go bad in only 1 episode.

@larus @sadthe1st I like all kinds of eggs including century eggs and salted ducks eggs. Umami! However Balut from Philippines is not something I can stomach!...In our science lab, we have tried to incubate them not in their shells but on petri dishes...Just so sad I've caused my little embryo to die because I was unable to transfer it successfully...The heart beat just waned...I didnt eat eggs and chicken for a week after that! Plus saying a prayer for it...

So frustrating that they put a love line into this drama. It would have been perfect without one.
Also, doesn't it feel like they are trying to hint that haraboji has Alzheimer's....

@joccu, @Sleepy Owl, I watched another 2 episodes of Six Flying Dragons (ep46, 47) and I cried a little when Sambong died. I knew all along about his fate but I still got emotional.

Sambong's death was really sad. The guy was definitely ahead of others in terms of thinking, political policies and other stuff. He was actually when he said that it does not matter who takes things ahead, be it him or Bong Won, since they both have the same ideology which proved to be right. 

 

Kudos to Kim Myung Min for putting up such an amazing performance as Sambong

i had a long team meeting from 9am till now..

 

i might be able to go back office daily very soon!!

the management team in singapore office is consolidating numbers from respective depts on their headcount and people opting to go back office.. they will do a calculation to see if it falls within the 75% total workforce.
