[Drama 2022] Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) Season 3 결혼작사 이혼작곡

SC2019

I wasn't expecting much. Just seeing that clip with Song Won chatting with the grim reapers pretty much set the tone for me - VERY absurd and at the same time, VERY boring.

One thing that I'm sure everyone has noticed is how very food-obsessed the entire show has been since Season 1. People are always eating or talking about food. It's like a good 40% of all conversations:

  • Hye-ryeong throws out food that her mother-in-law made which apparently makes her the worst person ever.
  • Song Won is really into healthy food and I think her first conversations with Sa-hyeon were all about food.
  • Pi-yeong, Si-eun, and Dong-mi were constantly talking about food as well.
  • Of course, Dong-mi slowly killed her husband by feeding him carbs.
  • Both Pi-yeong and Si-eun won their way into their father-in-law's heart by feeding him organic gelato and sweet potatoes. (The way to a man's heart with through his stomach?)
  • Si-eun cooked lunch for Seo Ban.
  • Pi-yeong and Dong-mi cooked breakfast for Seo Father. That took up about 50% of that episode, I think - with him eating the food, and them talking about the food.
  • Those flour pancakes Seo Ban likes.
  • Dong-ma cooks for Pi-yeong and Jia, and that's all it takes for Jia to accept Dong-ma as her stepfather. (That, and the massive wealth.)
  • Professor Loser shared the lunch that his wife made with his future mistress Gabin.
  • Professor Loser made Gabin dumplings from scratch.
  • Dong-mi brought food to Gabin in order to become close to her.

Anyway, just want to point out that in the final episode, a Chaebol chairman and his son made noodles from scratch in the middle of the night to feed Pi-yeong, and that it took up about 1/2 the episode. (Aren't they rich and living in Seoul? They can get any kind of food delivered at any hour!) Other big parts of the episode were about Pi-yeong mixing some drink that the Seo brothers enjoyed, and Ami tried to make the same, but Yu-shin was not satisfied with it, because it wasn't the same as Pi-yeong's.

And of course the grim reapers sat around for a very long time salivating at all the food and drink... and it's all just a stupid waste of time, because the show failed to answer a bunch of questions that were raised.

Which is to say, stuff happened, but nothing happened.

And this show is really food-obsessed. It's like the show itself has some kind of eating disorder.

Will there be a Season 4? The story isn't finished, but the production company has given no indication that they will make a Season 4. So the story is that the writer deliberately failed to answer any questions in order to pressure the production company to agree to a 4th season. Basically she's trolling them... and the viewers.

Hmmm. I'm not mad. I guess I got to a point where I just don't care. I swore I wouldn't watch anymore after S1, but here I am, having watched all three seasons. And S2 was pretty fun. But this is exhausting and stupid.

But it was a lot more fun and interesting to watch this show because of this thread, so thanks everyone!

--

Some K-youtube theories:

- Dong-ma (and maybe Seo Ban) is killed as punishment for their father's sin of cheating on his wife. Even though his sons are innocent, seeing his sons die before him will be a much bigger torment than simply dying. Karmic retribution.

- Song Won will be reincarnated as Seo Ban and Si-eun's daughter. That wedding is a father escorting his daughter down the aisle, not those two getting married.

(Ah, who even cares anymore.)

I swear to gawd if Phoebes aim to to kill off uri seo brothers and have their ghosts possess the ex husbands, this show really MOST DEFINITELY should have included ‘featuring ghosts.’ You know what I thought when the grim reapers stayed in the house night after night lurking? “Wow, either they have a lot of grim reapers to spare that they can be days ahead of time at the job, or not many people are dying in this universe that these grim reapers have so much time on their hands.” I was also absolutely confused how the heck SW acting so attached to Ban.

I don’t think I can do another season. The only reason I didn’t drop this was because I thought this was the final season and the nonsensical madness would finally end with a happy ending. So here is my happy ending, call it fan fiction or just survivors coping method. The car accident and the ceiling accident were really just nightmare by the wives worried about losing their husbands. Just like the brothers had that snake dream. PSY ex mom in law spends the remainder of her days in a mental asylum, while Ami meetings Hrs husband and has an affair on YS, thus halting wedding and ending it all. SE’s ex husband has impotency and is infertile, thus the one who is not a man no longer after calling his ex wife not a woman (Oh btw we never found out bans supposed secret DM told SE way back). Gb goes abroad. We have another scare of character death when SE has tough delivery but has a boy, while PY has another girl. Father in law adores his grandchildren and they all live happily after, the most drama happening just the usual normal fights that families go through and end up closer. Oh HRs ex in laws? Who cares, still don’t know why they got so much screen time.

THE END

imagine the viewers who randomly find this series on netflix and have no idea what it is about because they are not aware of forums like ours....

That was me when I found It,already 2 seasons airing. The title is very realistic and coherent with nowadays marriage issues. Then at the end Grandpa ghost started stalking DongMi and later posessed Ji-A. But Im already sucked into it and want to see some retribution on S3.
netflix really should add tags : sci-fi, horror.

OMG for me too, this drama ends here.
Dong Ma won’t die because of that piece of wood hitting his head, I mean that’s not a piece of concrete.
Sie-Eun will have c-section due to her age and will have a baby girl. Pi Young will have normal delivery and have a baby boy. Seo family live happily under one roof. And the rest I don’t mind them.

We just want a Normal Happy Ending !
But seems with this writer, we can’t expect simplicity, if they can make it complicated why not ?

I haven't watched the final episode yet and judging by the comments, maybe I won't. SPY and LSE firing the maids was great and the ladies playing golf with their husbands, looking fabulous, pre-snake, these are fine final memories for me of this stupid drama.

The characters and scenarios, as written by Phoebe, aren't interesting enough to bring me back. As was pointed out several times, the new actors they got for Yu Shin and 30s husband are so different from their predecessors that I couldn't even remember which character they were playing at the beginning of this season. And they were never really given much to do except be over-the-top jealous of their ex-wives' new husbands.

The fact that she introduced the whole ghost concept and continued on that path, particularly with Song Won, who we barely knew when she was alive, is completely puzzling - mostly because it's not that interesting! And it doesn't make up for the wooden characters she wrote for the mistresses, specifically. I was relieved when Song Won died because I was happy we wouldn't have to watch her boring character any more but she was not only a ghost but possessed BHR too, our most dynamic of the ex-wives. Why? Why? Why?

SDM was unconscious in the ambulance but suddenly woke up with all the wounds & injuries of his head cleared. He asked the 2 reapers "who are you" & scene of SPY going through labour without knowing whether she gave birth to boy or girl & what about LSE?  Who produces such a stupid drama with the ending so  abrupt leaving it hanging in the air with no conclusion on whether it's a bad or good ending. The writer & producer are too cruel to leave the audience in awe, they could have omitted the scenes of SongWon talking so much to SeoBan & the 2 reapers to sacrifice another 15 mins to wrap the whole finale with a more meaningful ending of the births of the Seo Family.  We don't need Season 4 - too much agony going thru anor round of ghosts & reapers & more revenge.

The writer is a nerd, first making LSE & SPY happy remarried women to end them becoming widows -  what an irony if the writer did make SDM die & even SB thru car accident according to some forum viewers!!  Both women already suffered enough why let them suffer again?

Question is, what has SongWon to do with the Seo family & why her ghost wander into their house? A lot of unresolved issues which doesn't make sense

The producer of this drama owes viewers an explanation to the final ending - worst ending in the history of Korean dramas!

I can't believe the time I have invested in this drama, what started out as something good has turned in to a train wreck! Absolutely no consideration for the viewers. They should feel ashamed for what they have put us through.

Once again, we were fooled by the writer, expected and unexpected.

Apparently, she had done enough research to check the ratings and audience preferences. Most viewers are attracted to this pair of SPY and SDM (shown in many forums), they don't want the writer to kill off the SDM role after seeing the last ep. I would consider the writer is so "cunning" that to keep the suspense characters, so everyone will be drawn to S4 whether we like it or not, despite the odd combination of ghost storylines that distracts from the plot.

To me, if I compare the two SEO brothers couples, I prefer LSE and SB - This older couple gave me the vibe of down-to-earth feel, slow and steady win the game, while watching the SPY and SDM couple, I would feel the fairy tale storyline, everything was so perfect and smooth in relationship. But when the fairy glass shatters, it wakes everyone up and pulls us back to reality (If the last scene that shown SDM died in the accident). I want the reality but the writer is once again playing with us - More Ghosts come into picture.

I don't see any value added if she continues to add more Ghosts into the storyline. S3 already had 3 ghosts Grandpa, Song Won and the little kid.

From this S3, I could see more attachment to the surviving family because the ghosts were still lingering. Aren't we trying to learn from our life lesson how to detach when necessary and move on? Why do we still see more attachments after death in the storylines?

I am getting worried if I see more ghosts around after death in S4, and before they move on to another "world", they are still lingering in the existing world because of attachment or agony. This is not the life lesson we are learning.

If the whole show is a pure comedy, then I'd rather the writer makes all the storylines a ghost world, or everyone lives in harmony in heaven.

I would rather the handsome and charming actor who acted SDM role, joins a new drama since he is getting popular after this drama.

PS : To me, 50's husband role needs to be completely written off. He was still glue to his ex wife and asked the ex-wife to pay for the current tenant's relocation fee and the agent commission as he wanted to move into their old apartment. If the writer still wants to add ghosts, then the best choice for S4 is to turn the ex-50s husband into a ghost.....hahaha :D

Is this train wreck (is it right to call this drama that or how is everyone feeling about this drama?) drama over? Don't tell me there's a potential for a season 4?!

What? You and @chococarmela  scared, chingus? :loolz:

The thread was pretty peaceful in season 3 though.

@partyon I pray there isn’t a season 4 for everyone in this thread’s sanity unless there are some people who have a burning desire to see a season 4? I won’t argue against that then.. I was just thinking that the census of this drama is that it’s not good.

I agree. Phoebe really did not do anything. Nothing happened in Season 3.

Pi-yeong and Dong-ma did get married. He dumped Gabin suddenly. He literally just told her, "Goodbye. I still love you." Then he immediately meets Pi-yeong and says, "I want to marry you." All because he happened to hear Pi-yeong scream at a dermatologist's office. And then the marriage happens, because he's mega-rich and his body is hot. Why would she say no?

I mean, that was just some real lazy writing. These two were put together simply because the writer pushed them together. There's no rhyme or reason. But of course we rooted for them because he's rich and hot, and her husband cheated on her, and we want him to suffer.

As someone else aptly described, this is a 12-year-old's version of love. More like 6-year-old, actually. But yes, it's a simulacrum of love.

And Si-eun and Seo Ban did get together, because they went to an art class together for a few days 40 years ago. Yeah... WHAT. I think it would have been better if Seo Ban just naturally fell in love with Si-eun while working at the same company for TWENTY years - which also happened.

Okay, so two enjoyable things happened this season. The Seo brothers were the knights in shining armor who gave fairytale endings to two of the wives whose husbands cheated on them. That was fun. And for good measure this was rubbed into Hye-ryeong's face, who for some reason coveted both brothers, for some extra nastiness. I don't even like Hye-ryeong! But even I felt bad for her. All that Hye-ryeong abuse was pointless.

And we did enjoy seeing the husbands' bitterness and shock when their wives moved on with their princeling husbands. Ha ha, yes, that was fun. But that's it, folks. That is all you get.

ETA: Dong-mi did get dragged to a mental institution in a straitjacket. I guess that was fine, but it didn't have the impact it should after dragging that out all season.

So the writer tosses in a little boy ghost and Seo Ban's secret just to get you to wonder what's going to happen. Throw in a couple of grim reapers will get you wondering, "Who's going to die?" And the answer is NOTHING.

George Lucas famously said, "I can create emotion on screen. Turn on the camera, hold up a kitten, and strangle it. There will be an emotional reaction from the audience." (paraphrased) And it's true. If you see a kitten being strangled, you will react. But it's manipulative and gratuitous.

This entire show was watching kittens being strangled. Take a juicy premise that's guaranteed to provoke some emotion - adultery, incest - then twist and wring it until nothing is left.

And then leave some random questions unanswered so that you can extort the studio to give you money for Season 4.

Man, I gotta tell you, I was pretty excited for S3 after the S2 finale. And I was bummed when 3 of the main actors left the show. But hey, they were the smart ones.

Personally, I don’t want a season 4 but I love you guys here so if there is I may just lurk and read recaps from our chingus here, and watch the last episode of season 4 to see what the heck the ending would be, but that’s it. I can’t invest anymore time in a show that has such absurd writing(reference: SW possessing HR and imprinting her bitmoji brain into husband that one episode).

Just to entertain y'all:

Here are some random post titles from DCinside Gallery: https://gall.dcinside.com/board/lists/?id=wln&page=2

- No skills, no responsibility, strange personality.

- Will Season 4 end this? Beating a dead horse. It will suck like this one.

- You must not try to understand perverts. Perverts are always trying to confuse normal people.

- I guess Seo Ban was not a eunuch.

- Phoebe is probably laughing and enjoying the viewers' distress. Psychopath.

- Stop talking about Season 4. Don't you feel sorry for the staff?

- This really sucks. Phoebe really sucks.

- F**k. Did they really roll noodles using the father-in-law's foot massage bar?

- The actors are innocent. The writer has problems.

- Bu Hye-ryeong has committed only one sin. Being a modern woman, the type that the writer hates.

- Why is the show obsessed with gelato?

- Seo Ban's secret. He hates gelato.

- I'm glad I didn't watch this. I read the articles and it's a mess.

- Worst drama I've ever seen. Song Won is the star.

- Maybe Dong-ma is punished for having made the ladies cry.

- Being hit in the head with that would not kill you.

- Why would you roll out noodles with that?

- I will never watch another Phoebe drama! But I probably will. F**k.

- Maybe in Season 4, the original Yu-shin and Sa-hyeon will appear along with the fake ones.

- Phoebe reads all the internet comments. You know that, right?

- Phoebe is not in her right mind.

- Phoebe dramas are abnormal.

- Dong-ma, thank you for taking off your clothes. I love you.

- Actors playing Hae-ryun and Hye-ryeong should sue the writer.

- Why is everyone so obsessed with gelato? Is the show sponsored by gelato?

- I think Dong-mi = Phoebe. Mental patient. Belongs in prison.

- My mom watched the final episode and she was so mad that she didn't pay attention to making my dinner. So I am mad now.

- Love (ft. Ghosts and Shaman).

--

Sorry, @chococarmela! Phoebe is the writer of this drama. :)

Best prediction for Season 4 that I read: Hye-ryeong becomes a shaman and Song Won becomes a grim reaper, and they have an epic battle in the afterworld!

There will be a season 4. That was preview at the end.

This writer loves to put ghost or possession into her work. No idea why cause it has all been poorly written.

I also am still clueless on what Ban's secret is lol.

I LOVE this forum!  It almost made watching this worth it--almost.

Also, another loose end: Pi Young has coffee with Ga Bin and viewers realize that Pi Young has NO idea that her husband was engaged to this mistress the day before he asked Pi Young to marry him.  Will this matter if he dies?  Will it matter if he lives?

Remember how excited we got about who fell off the horse in an earlier season, only to have it be a footnote in the next season.  Writer wasted all that time having A Mi's mother come to visit, visit father to see if he wants to meet daughter, has father be acquaintance of Yu Shin and use the same Equestrian Center, father and daughter actually meet there, but don't know they are related, and A Mi has a brief moment of anxiety over whether to meet her biological father.  It is a cliff hanger at the end of one season, but writer never does anything with that plot line in the next season.  Father is revealed to have fallen off horse and died, mother disappears and A Mi moves in with Yu Shin and Devil Mother-In-Law and that and ghost gramps become the new plot interest.   THIS WRITER IS CRAZY!!  It is a shame because the characters and the actors playing them were good enough to carry a non-crazy plot.  Well, maybe not Male Model, but he provided visual enjoyment.

Thanks for being part of this forum!  It has been fun.
