About Song Hwa's lovelife, she can date anyone she likes. She can explore the world since she's a single woman. But it's going to be crazy if she's going to be linked with the four guys in the "present" time again (I wouldn't mind if a love square happened in the past) but in present time, if the four guys suddenly make a move on her, it may encourage ships war. That's why it's nice that they decided to introduce side characters as potential love interests for the other guys. They've been putting it on hold but the introduction of Song Hwa's past/first love can change the game too.

The fan war/ship war in Reply series was crazy. I just don't want that to happen in Hospital Playlist again because the non-winning camp send so much hate to the PD/writer during and after the show's whole run. Prison Playbook experience was totally different from this. The love lines were pretty clear in Prison Playbook. Lee Woo Jung has been dropping twists episode after episode. Reply style.

Let's hope for the best.

I don't assume that Song-hwa would eventually be involved with any of her four besties. ;) I never have. I honestly prefer that she doesn't but I won't be slashing my wrists if she does.

;)

The only reason why I keep pushing back on this is because I don't think we should assume that this drama would behave anything like the PD's previous dramas whoever the writer is. ;) The showrunners have already overturned a number of K drama tropes/stereotypes from the first episode, I expect that they will continue to do so.  In fact I'm really excited by the possibilities of what the show is attempting.

As for shipwars happening, yes, I've been at the margins of that in other fandoms and it does get ugly. But the best way to prevent that from happening is not to get too emotionally invested in any pairing.  Characters, yes but not pairings. It may seem like an obvious thing to say but fans really need to take responsibility for their own reactions and not put all their baggage on the showrunners.

So we are going to pretend that Captain Ahn didn't go to Dr Bong to learn more about Song Hwa

So 13 surgeons will keep giving work to a resident who is allegedly not good whereas they do the work by themselves with less hassle and better outcomes ..... interesting

The conversation has shifted from her work ethic to her facial expressions to her pursuit of Jeong Won ...

Eating during a meeting giving arrogance vibes , what are the refreshments provided meant to be used for decorations.

It seems your criticism or inconsistencies with her character only takes into account epsiode 4 because if you watched episode 2 where she got the ER case with the boy and his mother. You would have seen where she was blunt and unintentionally hurt the mother and told her how she could have prevented the case from getting worse by giving him CPR which she is when she got told off by Jeong Won.

Why does everyone blame her for not spotting the abuse case ? If credible explanation was given about the incident why doubt the child's guardian, you know nothing about. Why should he also be pissed at her ? I am not understanding....

It is just really interesting to see different interpretations of the same show ... Each to their own

Aigoo, chill please. There is no fanwar or shipping war intended. Shwa or JWon can be with anyone for all I care. Captain Ahn going for information? Did I say I just ignore it? Aigoo... I am not talking about his character inconsistencies. Comparison can be made and result can be discussed. But I am not in issue with his character. Instead, I want to know how he is going to steal SHwa's heart. As for  Dr. Jang, I am actually comparing against what the writer want me to expect i.e. the character description and what the actual presentation i.e. the playout or deliveries. Expressions are part of that deliveries.  So really, my common sense has issue with these inconsistencies. My mind just works like that and that is just the way I watch. I put so much importance in deliveries, also common sense and consistencies in every kdramas that I watch. Quality over quantity. Hence, I only watch a very selected few and medical dramas are one of my favorite pick. I have little time as it is, so it is crucial to me. If I don't get the feel intended as a viewer, it spells trouble to me.

Interesting isn't it that we have differing opinions on one thing in one drama. Yeah, that is how human mind works. Not everyone see the same thing and we aren't obligated to agree on everything either. ;)

Cheers!

Drama that had friendship and romance line like this bound to get a fanwar between the ship.

I must say lets take the discussion in civil mode.

Dont let it bring chaos to the thread. Everyone had their own opinion. Yeah some maybe ridiculous some maybe not make any sense or maybe too good to be true but lets respect each other opinion.

The important things imo is that we are blessed with this amazing drama every week and with 3 season planned(?) I am really happy and just cant wait for more and more of our yulje medical family.

You know this drama is one of the most awaited drama for me and i really cant wait for thursday night because of this drama.

So take your time and be patient.

Meanwhile when have a discussion give a reasonable explanation so the other arent confused by what you mean. Maybe there will be a conflicting point of views but it bound to happen because everyone can see the drama differently.

@babyolala KDM debut via threater before acting, Misaeng made him known to the audience.

@ainipang They have plan for multiple season, therefore there will not be closed ending. However, the response from the audiences will determine whether season 2 could be produced. So show more love~~

Wow, just finished reading all your comments guys. I love it all. I can't say that I agree with all of it, but seeing something from different perspective maybe made some of us have a different opinion and it is okay.

I can't say I like Dr. Jang, especially for JungWon, but who cares? It is the writer's mind that matters hehehe. I just hope to see a whole drama as a fresh and lovable drama, with a story line that I can't expect and made me laugh and then cry just by 5 minutes difference.

And with so much cast and hint and untold story, we can say that there is so much story in store for us. And arguing it in this early phase is hard.

Let's just watch it and enjoy the ride for now

PS:

1. I love Iksun but I love SongHwa-JunWan. I won't choose until they are tied in a relationship.

2. I loooove Uju. My heart aches to see him console his father. As a kid, he had too much. Sending virtual hugs for our Ujuu.

3. Sending virtual hugs for SeokHyeong too. I can't say I will survive if I am in his position. He is a strong man indeed.

Cheer up and stay safe, guys!

He links the main cast car plate numbers to noraebang songs and their meanings. Somehow it all makes sense??:o

After watching the last episode 4, I am no longer shipping SH with JunWan or someone else from the band. I came to realize that none of them were able to maintain their relationship with their respective partner because the latter were not included in this group of friends. IT was clearly shown that JungWon introduced IJ's wife to IJ because she was his friend. However,  we definitely see that the wife was not close to the three other friends. It was the same with SH's boyfriend. JunWan knew him but the boyfriend had no real interaction with the other friends. It looks to me that all the partners were never interested in getting closer to this group of friends. And here, we can see the changes: Ahn and Jang want both to know the relationship between these friends... that's why I believe that this would be great if each of them found a new love interest outside their friendship.

I read that many users were upset with Jang's behavior but honestly, I can't criticize her because it is quite important not to get too close to patients. If you get too close and too emotionally attached, then the risk to get a burn out is quite high. In reality, doctors can't get too emotional, they would be left without energy if they did. Imagine, an oncology specialist who has to announce such terrible news to his patients and gets emotional each time.... It is not healthy for the doctor. For me, JungWon's approach is not realistic... as for the abuse, I would just say that Jang's behavior showed just a lack of experience... Through JW, she is learning to question herself and others.

Exactly my thought. For the first time "other half "  interested party trying to know all five. I, too, have a circle of friends from elementary level. It’s really important to synchronize relationship between  friends and respective significant others for a happy life.

So, it’s better  if they get their partner outside the group.(no matter how much i love to ship them!lol).  The reason is they're in their 40s not 20s anymore.Yang Seok-hyung  confessed his fellings in 20s and consumed the rejection.   But as they grew older together,  it’s really hard to move  on if same scenario happen todays timeline. Adult just can't say anything. The fear of losing something precious like friendship in this age is actually everything.

thank you @im0202very much appreciated.

I'm very much hooked into this drama. Working in the hospital myself (not a doctor) it's an antidote to the current situation and Thursday can't come soon enough.

My 2 cents opinion (as I've watched it so many times already,) that in episode 2, when Director Ju made a comment how they are all good-looking and how nothing happened between them all (English trans-netflix) Joon-wan turned to Jung-won, then jung-won focus on song-hwa, song-hwa focus on Ik-jun, then Ik-jun to Seok-hyung... my guess is that Jung-won has a crush on Song-hwa, and Song-hwa to Ik-jun, then Seok-hyun to Song-hwa.

I don't mind where the lovelines are going, but I think Ik-jun is showing too much thoughtfulness towards Dr.Jang, which I find endearing. I don't see Dr.Jang and Jung-won coming together. Jung-won might change his negative opinion of Dr.Jang but so far I think it's just as it is.

I am enjoying every episodes, as part of the international audience, the drama also introduces music artists and songs that most of us haven't heard before. The rock version of Pachelbel's Canon in D is very clever.

Looking forward to the next episodes...

@Day I haven't paid much attention to see who has blamed her aka Dr Jang  I am speaking generally now. This is a hospital drama.

A child who comes in from a fall especially an unwitnessed fall gets something called  a head to toe examination. If it's a bad fall then there is something called a primary survey before it.

Anyway a head to toe is literally a head to toe. Are you ok? Does your head hurt? Then examine the part. A child is usually an unrealiable historian especially if you're inexperienced in assessment. An unwitnessed fall from a child with a right arm pain ( distracting injury ) and chest pain ( palpated ) but not exposed is a bad medical examination. And emergency doctors- not her obviously- but anyone dealing with paediatric patients always have to exclude non- accidental injuries. If you think everyone thinks all parents or carers are " safe and innocent" they haven't been working long enough.

Now that's why Dr Jang is a bad doctor. No one orders a chest x-ray without looking, auscultating and palpating. Basic, basic assessment. More focused examination in the context of unwitnessed fall, chest pain especially lower chest region- should exclude liver injuries.

That is Dr Romantic 2 level. Then there is the usual Kdrama level- no one ever strips the patients. Never. Lol. This was easy compared to what I have been reading all week about something else.

That's why Dr Jang was negligent. No one does a secondary survey especially with chest pain without exposure. Put that on with lack of empathy it compounds the problem. And actually for a surgical trainee she is not aggressive enough. Surgeons are arrogant about their skills normally. General surgeons are to a certain extent but you hardly ever get a quiet general surgeon. You won't survive and will be eaten alive.

And also she is not a junior resident and should know better. Since she would be teaching juniors. Her speed walking, working etc is slow. Picking maggots? Pfft. It's not as they wouldn't have read about it. And oh yes just for reference- submerge the whole leg in a bucket of water and the maggots will float off. Then get to actually examining the leg. Have I grossed you guys out? Sorry.

Even interns- well real life ones not Kdrama ones- would have done better than Dr Jang. I mean the majority of new interns. Definitely not Kdrama interns. Hahaha.

Bye guys. I just came for spoilers. Going back to my sci fiction book now. @Day sorry. I am a hard taskmaster and don't take sloppiness well.

hi chingus :D i actually watched all 4 ep over one afternoon (too much time staying home) i started late cos i’m not too used to watch kdrama with so many main leads haha

my guess is, dr jang might end up with IJ  she could be all infatuated with JW and IJ is providing help (perhaps hoping his bestie will not go into priesthood) who knows they might fall for each other unknowingly..  and JW.. with dr bae!

Dr bae is underrated lol but i agree she can be a candidate with jeongwon.

But you know dr jang got the advantage when she and jeongwon are the COVER of OST 4!!!!! I just realize it when add the song in spotify that both are the cover lol what a cutie.

As long as Jeong won keep being a doctor(thanks big hyung and momma) i am fine whether it is Song hwa,dr jang or dr bae.

He can be romantic too you know with how thoughtful he is with the act to others and extra care he give to everyone

Wow, within a span of 24 hours I see the discussion getting a little bit heated up in here :sweatingbullets: People see the world differently indeed.

I do agree that the drama has some medical loopholes, but if the PD and writer were to go their usual style, I don't think they would put a major focus on the technicalities. For example there's no way that Prison Playbook actually portrayed the real life of prisoners and that's not the main point of the whole drama anyway. Well, it would have been (too) perfect if they did, but I guess it's something that they can, or should (for some people), work on.

And knowing that this drama came from the same franchise, I choose to focus on their forte i.e. the warmth of their writing/narration. I enjoy seeing the show slowly exploring and revealing everyone's own strengths and weaknesses. I do agree that Dr. Jang is indeed not the best resident and on paper should have mastered skills that a 3-year-resident would, but realistically I think there are people out there who struggle with certain aspects in life and I think that's the direction the writer/PD is heading to. And I'm sure the show has not explored her character enough for us to form a conclusion of her development. And I think that's always the main lesson from this drama franchise - to view the world from other people's perspectives and not form instant judgment on characters. And this heartwarming theme makes dramas like Reply series, Prison Playbook and even Hospital Playlist (so far) enjoyable to watch for me

But then again, to each their own and that's just my take on it :)

Btw just watched the BTS video, wait Junwan is actually in the church? Did I miss this in episode 4? If I didn't then perhaps it's another perspective that the drama will show us later on? ;)

@ck1Oz I think you mixed up the twin patients hehe. Jaehun the fallen boy and the first twin patient was examined by Dr. Bae, not Dr. Jang, no? While Jaeyong the TA patient and the second twin patient was first examined by Dr. Jang, needed surgery, then AJW came to the rescue.

Hahhaa nope it was just JKH who turned up even though he didn’t have a scene to film there. Then he even joined in for an impromptu cameo as an audience member and ad-libbed “Amen!” at the end lol.

I too didn’t notice him in the scene... will need to watch the episode again and keep a lookout:lol:

haha maybe cos i think she could be one of the rising stars.. not too sure with the rest of the co-stars in the drama

Spoiler

she was in Love with Flaws too.. and i forgot which..

perhaps there are too many depts for this drama i can’t concentrate on the medical plot as much as previous kdramas.. my homebound brains cant switch as fast :sweatingbullets:

I try my best not to focus too much on the details medical-wise and just pay more attention to the relationships and conversations. Dr. Jang isn’t the only one lacking in the technical department. For their year in med school, the two twins are also a bit on the slow side. There were several instances when they don’t know disorders or diseases that should have been tackled in their early years in med school. Instead of minding what they know, I tried to focus on who they are as characters instead. It made watching the show so much more enjoyable! :) This one episode a week format is so frustrating. The suspense is intense haha :(
