In ep 15, if YSJ has recovered for 1 year, why did he come out with dust and blood in his body? I think they have had pretend to die, and did another mission. Also, when YMJ said to her soldier patient in Urk "tell the commander officer that you cant work too hard for a while". Who was in charge to be captain and sergaent major after YSJ and SDY death? I am curious also about their position after they come back today.

 

MY signed a non-disclosure agreement, meaning she cannot talk to any person about the real  circumstances of SJ death/MIA.   This being a secret op sans dogtag, the military is passing the death off as a training-related car accident.  Am sure anyone civilian connected with SJ and DY had to sign that,  and MY being both his GF and doctor are included.  MY had one of 2  final letters from SJ as well, so  military knows they are close and does not want to diiscount any probability  that he might  have told her something about his last assignment.

We will probably know tonight  (I certainly hope so, to tie this situation)  the reason  of SJ disappearance for a whole year and why he lay low. Am sure he had serious injury not just from the bullet but the explosion, not to mention other possible things.  He has scars, on his face and arms and hands, from what we see.  

Me too, wanted a brief convo between SJ dad and MY,. but don't know if Korean manners would allow unless she was already introduced to him by SJ previously.

I just looooooove how MY fits perfectly in SJ's arms.  And his big hand wrapping the back of her head.  Melts my heart.  The way he speaks to her.  The way his eyes follow her.  The way she makes him smile & laugh...like she just lightens up his day.  My gosh...let him see you undress already MJ!

Yoo SJ shi is like Harry Potter.  No one could harm him! By the way I wont jump to any conclusion. Just wait a little more for tonight ep. May be Dr. Kang just imagines that her beloved oppa .....came back.

Words cannot describe how I felt during the whole  time watching last night episode. For me, ep15 by far was the best one in which it left many things to say.

First of all, I think SHK did a great job in portraying her character. Throughout the story of KMY, we can see many different aspects of her from dedicated, caring to humorous, but what makes me love her most is that MY is truly a strong woman. Being in love with a soldier like YSJ requires not only courage but also a tough heart to deal with bad things that could happen anytime. That explains why it took so long for MY to accept SJ. The decision was hard because she knew that her love-life will never be ordinary like other couples, but she is willing to have that future with him despite all the obstacles and hindrances on their way to a happy ending.  With ep15, that “strong” side of MY was again expressed remarkably, especially the scene where she tried (but failed) to hide her sadness when hearing the long-time mission of SJ. I feel compassionate for MY being struggling with sorrow, living day by day without any news of her man for an entire year, it’s tough for a woman to endure that, and clearly working could not erase the pain inside her heart.

My heart shattered whenever MY’s eyes are full of tears, never had I cried sadly and happily in one episode. I don’t know if any of you feel the same way as I was, but it’s like my guilty pleasure when seeing SHK cry. I mean, her emotion-expression is so good that I bursted out to tears for the character and also for the daebak acting skill of SHK.  

Regarding YSJ, I appreciate and love him more in this episode. Witnessing how he apologized for making MY worried and letting her go through these difficulties really made my heart broken. That scene has finally brought the last piece of YSJ’s characteristics into a complete picture. I admire his love for MY and feel happy for both of them when they reunited in the dessert. After one year of staying apart, they finally ended up seeing each other again, the hug and tears were an evident proof of their unfadable love. At last, leaving behind all the pain and sorrow, SJ and MY can let their heart, their love shine bright again.  

For me, ep15 was basically a happy ending for SJ-MY couple. No matter what the final ending for the drama is, I feel grateful for the journey that DOTS has brought us.

Sorry for the long post, just want to express my feelings for this great great great episode. Can’t wait for tonight!!! 

(and hey, I need a happy ending for SDY-YMJ too, quickly reunited you two.)

DY's girlfriend didn't open the letter.. ta dum. I have a hunch he knew she wouldn't open it which would mean his top secret mission would be hidden. 

Also, we all know in k drama, no body means still alive. Even the daily 100+ episode dramas we see the same old plot. Yet, I was bawling for 30 min!! hehe

Both are well alive--happy ending and the sun[SJ] setting. How bittersweet!

The finale of hit drama Descendants Of The Sun will air in South Korea and China on Thursday (April 14) at 9pm (Singapore time).

It will be available in Singapore on Viu, the website and the app, on Friday from 6am. A three-part special about the drama will air in South Korea from April 20 to 22, and be available on Viu from April 21.

KBS 2TV, the Korean network which airs the show, said that as the series was fully filmed before airing, it was "virtually impossible" to air more episodes than initially planned. As such, it does not plan to air an extension for Descendants.

In China, Descendants has been streamed more than two billion times. The show has been a breakway hit for several reasons.

NOT FOLLOWING THE NORM

After the feverish success of My Love from the Star in China in late 2013 and early 2014, Chinese entertainment regulators put stricter limits on foreign dramas on video websites, effectively cooling down Chinese viewers' love affair with K-dramas.

 

K-dramas are usually scripted and shot days before they are shown, to allow tweaks every week.

Breaking with tradition, Descendants was fully pre-produced to pass the new Chinese guidelines and be cleared for simulcasts in China and South Korea. It is the first K-drama to air simultaneously in the two countries, which certainly helps when you want a show to go viral.

There is not only leading lady Song Hye Kyo, an early star of the Korean Wave, but also star writer Kim Eun Sook (The Inheritors, 2013; Secret Garden, 2010; Lovers In Paris, 2004).

Kim had a long relationship with SBS, which aired all her previous dramas but dropped Descendants. According to a report on the Korean Web portal Nate, SBS had doubts about a show about soldiers, as having characters in uniforms and military situations means that there is less money to be made from fashion sponsorship and product placement.

Now Kim has partnered up with KBS, and SBS must be kicking itself.

Every few years, the right K-drama star in the right role comes along whom millions can go gaga over collectively. In 2009, it was Lee Min Ho in Boys Over Flowers. In 2013, it was Kim Soo Hyun in My Love From The Star.

This year, right now, belongs to Song, who is giving a star-making performance in Descendants as a soldier conducting an up-and-down courtship of a surgeon - a performance that is possibly up there with the one that aeons ago made a star of some kid in Top Gun called Tom Cruise.

In the latest episode of “Descendants of the Sun,” special forces Capt. Yoo Si-jin, played by Song Joong-ki, was found safe after going missing in action.

In the 15th episode that went on air Wednesday, Yoo and his girlfriend Dr. Kang Mo-yeon, played by Song Hye-kyo, enjoy a brief lovey-dovey moment together until Yoo is assigned on a mission and has to leave Korea for more than three months. 

“I will be back and won’t be injured,” he promises Kang. 

“Can you call me?” Kang asks. 

“Although it might be difficult to use Internet or communicate, I will try my best,” Yoo says and bids farewell.

More than three months have passed. Yoo and his special forces team have completed their duty on-site. However, right before returning home to Korea, Yoo was shot during a sudden attack, and so was his comrade Master Sgt. Seo Dae-young, played by Jin Goo. Immediately after the attack, a deadly explosion takes place in the area and the two are recorded as missing in action. 

Kang hears the sad news, but cannot accept his death. She mourns in tears for days. Seo’s girlfriend Yoon Myung-joo, played by Kim Ji-won, also joins in the grief. 

One year has passed and Kang goes to Albania on a medical voluntary trip to commemorate Yoo’s passing. 

Kang, in the middle of a desert, sets up a small memorial alter and thinks of Yoo. But all of sudden, her walkie-talkie receives a call from “Big Boss,” Yoo’s call sign. And all the mobile messages that Kang had sent earlier to Yoo are marked as read. From far away, Yoo starts walking toward Kang.

“It’s been too long,” Yoo says as he hugs Kang, whose eyes are filled with tears. 

“Are you alive? You are alive!” says Kang who cannot believe Yoo survived. 

There is only one episode left of the popular series. The viewers are curious about what happened to Yoo during the one-year hiatus in the drama. While Yoo is confirmed alive, it is not known whether Seo survived as well. 

The final episode of KBS drama “Descendants of the Sun” will air on Thursday at 10 p.m.

Anyone notice during the wheelchair scene and he was selecting her confession on his phone, that the phone glass or glass cover has a crack?   That was intentional I think, being a soldier.   Small details... And it survived an explosion, in his pocket, har.  But maybe the SIM did, and he changed the unit,    Ok, that is it, no longer sweating the small stuff more than I already did.    Drama is still awesome beyond words!

For me this is the best scene in Ep15. No word to describe how beautifully they acted out their emotions - they should use this particular scene for the Best Couple awards nomination.

Ahh... Too many pages to catch up on!!!

I finally watched Ep 15 with subs but will definitely need a rewatch - multiple times over!

I'm just wondering if some bits of the translations weren't all to accurate. She says they've said their "I love yous" through their body language or their bodies? Ahem. He definitely became a bit more alert when she said that. Hahaha... So... What is it now? Ahem.

And at the desert when he returns, was that the sound of the helicopter we heard or just some kind of background sound effect? He was dropped off the helicopter? She also said it was his one year death anniversary and that was why she decided to go to Albania to pay her respects? So they did reveal to her that he had gone on a peace mission there? But shouldn't such information be classified? And those stone stacks - are they just random memorials built by people? Or was she told that was where nameless soldiers are remembered? Some gaps. Not terribly glaring to give me sleepless nights, but I am curious nevertheless. Might have more questions following a rewatch.

I think his phone screen crack is during ep 13 where he throw his phone as nobody pick up his call during that 0 nite 3 days drink part! b'cos it really fall hard!!!
