Me too. I'm putting my faith in Queen. I have wondered actually, has she ever think about whatever happen to CP? She clearly knows it was not the real CP behind the mask. Did she ever try to find out whether CP was killed, or just missing? Or did her relative already informed her that CP died and buried by DM's men? Did that minister guy also know that the person behind the mask isn't real CP?

Which clip? The one with her in a courtyard drawing a dagger and looking up at unmasked CP at the stairs in his blue robe? If that's the one, I don't think that scene will ever happen. It is just for promotional. CP already outgrown his blue robe. The next time he put on his kingly wardrobe, it will be the red one.

His voice isn't someone who have appeared in the past, and judging by his intonation and voice, I'm guessing he is an elderly/senior eunuch. Definitely someone who has served the late King. It's good to know that someone else knew it was not real CP behind the gold mask and suspected that real CP is alive somewhere.

I doubt DM knew about CP's immunity to all poison. He was still looking to initiate him into PSH with poison, which only shows that he doesn't know and still think he can control CP with poison. I rewatched that baby part and it was said that CP surprisingly fought against the poison himself and developed immunity. Thus the congratulations to King and Consort, not because the antidote saved his life.

I can't wait for everyone to start communicating honestly so they can come up together with a plan how to seize back the throne and crush DM. These couple days have been great for me to be able to camp on this thread more often than usual. But come Monday, I might not be able to camp here as much *tears*....

Very random.... but i just realised the queen is the only female character (with importance to the story) that GE knows... she still doesn't know about HG or the new gisaeng, although on that side they all know each other now.  Poor LS seems to be at the center of the drama, but yet at the same time sidelined as well. But how cute is his bodyguard. I swear they were trying to imply something with the looks Kkomooli and her mum were giving when he came to escort GE and carried her herbs. 

I love how CP was so smart to get WB back in the palace but i wonder what's his route to coming back. I like HG a lot better when she has less screentime but i wish she was pining less for CP. Her plotline is still all CP CP CP so i can't really understand how that's more interesting than GE. BUT She really has a lot of power to do something if she really wanted to so she makes a scary future opponent.

I hope DM gets a new plan soon, other than summoning for the chief peddler. You got to have plan b for your aim to get the rights to mint coins right! Chase after the chief peddler yes but don't just so one thing at a time...

 

So many hopes though.  Writer-nim please prove yourselves!!!!

I had forgotten about this clip... it doesn't exactly look like court lady wear but she has her hair up... i feel like we get less BTS photos from KSH/in general because they don't want to spoil what her story will be.

YES! Please stay away from those sites! That's exactly what I am doing! It's so stressful to see such reviews. I feel awful by it bc like us, people had high expectations for this drama due to YSH & KSH being a part of it. By I feel as if this drama is a stepping stone & like I've said before, this drama is still so early on. Next week is where we'll finally reach halfway through the drama. It's still so early. And for many of us, we will stick through with this drama due to YSH & KSH. I currently will remain optimistic for this drama and for the OTP. Once the show gets better, I feel like those people can eat their words and actually enjoy the drama. 

I mean, the drama being not expected isnt the cast's fault but rather the writing right? I feel like it'll get better....hopefully lol

Seeing as how CP was able to enter the Palace to see the Queen. Perhaps CP too will find a way to enter the Palace soon. After all he has to eventually return to the Palace to gain his position back. So I am hopefully CP will start making his moves also

same... I see so many comments on people dropping the show, but after all the effort that the actors, staff, etc put in, i'm going to stick til the end!!

I understand that people have different type of genres to watch in certain dramas, I totally get it. It's about preference and all that. But from the very beginning, it has stated that it's a heavily political type of drama. I find that most people are dropping the drama for the PURE FACT that there's no youth historical love or that it's not as bright & beautiful. 

I'm more of an action type of genre, it's really RARE for me to love a drama that's just all fun and games. I love emotional attacks and melodramas. From the beginning, I knew this drama wasn't going to be all lovey dovey just because YSH & KSH are attached to this drama. People assumed that it'll be another lovey dovey drama due to probably their age  (most of the comments I've read is about how there's no love scenes or what not yet. Or that's it's too dark and it's a waste) Its a shame because YSH & KSH are known for their melodrama acting. If you look back, both of them since they were a child - all their dramas are about family death, betrayal and very very dark stuff. 

It's not a surprise that this drama ends up being one of those dramas. Yes, the trailers or descriptions were misleading for some people. I get it. I don't blame if they dropped the drama because it doesn't suit their taste. I guess people's taste are just different. 

Personally, I am all for watching CP & GE's love journey through all the dark turns that's ahead of them. Like I've said, next week we'll reach halfway to the drama - I expect to see more emotional turmoil and heartache soon. Maybe even frustrations.

I also read some of the comments about Ruler on a website and I'm really sad that people thing about the drama that way.. Personally, I'm loving the drama so much and I love all the character and love the politics. I'm a huge fan of Korean historical dramas because they're just so interesting and I get to learn more and more about my country through them~ I see alot of criticism with the characters and the plotline... I stopped reading them because I got sad and disappointed because I think otherwise and think this drama is super interesting and really good! (I'm on Episode 7...slowly digging my grave ) I was wondering if everyone, even here on Soompi forums thought the same way about the drama...

Same here. Some are being too hostile.

I can only read few which both respectfully recognize the strength and weakness of the show but mostly, it is just about how bad it was which makes me sad when it really isn't that awful. We're still having meaty discussions here which goes to show that it is not heavily flawed.*sigh* how I wish you guys is also there so I'll get to see some sunshine because it's just too dark. 

On a side note,  thank you monarchs for being here.. Your pros and cons inputs are wonderful, I'll get to properly weigh my thoughts. You know, Its never good to wholeheartedly praise or despise a show. It is either just due to turning a blind eye or a matter of preference.

I love it the way it is and I'll accept what it can give for only that I'll find satisfaction and no frustration of not getting what I want and I'm talking about the usual it 'should be like this' or it 'should be like that' rants.

just ignore those websites, what matters is that you are enjoying it. Ratings are based on knetz interest and the fact that they have quite good ratings mean that the knetz are enjoying it too. I think  websites like DB and HC influence international viewers only

....but focusing too much on rating is not good either. So, lets just go through this drama together while sharing thoughts, emotions, rants, theories, etc etc

Finally! I can come on here to discuss with everyone! Have been rewatching episodes to fill my daily dose of Ruler lol.

@maryofbethany Omo. Your post made me tear up. It was so beautiful. This is what I mean by reading over, under and between the lines.  I did pay attention to the scenes you mentioned, and especially love the part where he confessed his feelings to CW about GE, too. It was his realization of his denial that he cannot be apart from GE no matter how much distance he wanted from her. CW reminded him of just how heartless DM & Pyunsoo are. It was then that CP confessed his true, inner feelings. He is not afraid to lose anything but GE. It is really a touching confession. Of course, you summed it up better than I did, haha. Chingu, I literally felt so touched by what you wrote, and it made me think of one of my favorite Shakespeare sonnet (see, you are a modern Shakespeare).

Those websites don't bother me and I am an international fan  I have learned to use my own judgment and not listen to what other websites are saying. It is easy to feel discouraged or saddened by the negativity. So I learnt to be humble about it lol.Rating has never been important to me as long as I enjoy the show. And I rarely drop a drama that I am addicted to. I watch until the very end. We will all be here to vent, listen, and then watch together. That's the fun of it.

I, too, will keep watching this drama. I like to see more than what is given to me. That is why I tend to think beyond what is being shown to me. I don't go on websites to read reviews or anything. I like to use my own judgment. Therefore,I will keep rowing

So, my speculation on who is the master behind the Giseang's actions has me puzzled. As far as i know, most of everyone is loyal to DM. So if anyone, it has to be someone in the royal palace. The queen doesn't seem to have any idea nor DM about this spy 

 

 

@ferily i am enjoying this drama a lot. I am fine with the pIotline and especially am enjoying CP/GE. too, am a fan of saeguek dramas and even though i am not too familiar with the historical aspects, i just like the idea of being involved in a world that existed long ago. Which is another reason i like to watch chinese wuxia too  

Sorry. Dont mean to bring up old talks. But in a post, someone stated something about this thread being more KSH fans than YSH. I am actually a fan of both. I admit. I usually don't get to keep updates on them but when I do get an update, I will usually be where they are lol. I didn't participate too much in the beginning because i was still waiting for the drama to air. I made sure it was a drama for me to follow because i know that is when i will be typing away on Soompi. And here i am, still following
