Clearly you have more faith in LS than I do. I don't know whether he will become a helping hand towards CP. I seem to think that LS does have a dark side in him. Not because he is weak, but I think when he realises what kind of power the King position has, he may want to take control. But currently that is my guess, we have to see more to know. 

I also believe that CP wont get the chance to come clean. But I think they will solidifying their feelings for each other which will help in the future long term. At least that is my hope.

oh...regarding the hypovolemic shock *someone mentioned it

i once experienced it last year when i was miscarriage  lost quite a blood. i wore many layers of blanket despites others medical staff wearing their normal uniform. blood transfusion. my oxygen level was drop. the specialist was panic since my bp was low. i was not allowed to go to the toilet. fuhh..so i can feel u CP

wow sometimes it's really surprising how easy it is for haters to just hate. I get the understanding that some people may not want to watch the drama because of KSH. How she ever has haters IS BEYOND ME. But the fact that on some sites or even comments, the fact that people are hating on the drama AND KSH because its "just like the other drama. It's a copy" I'm sorry, Ruler isn't LIKE that other drama. 

Sadly, this one is more dark and painful while the other was bright and adorable. I understand if the comparison of both leads being 1999/1993 is what makes them think it's a "copy" but how is it KSH's fault? I've seen the craziest comments ever saying she is like copying KYJ. IM LIKE WHERE? Both actresses are so different. KSH is more of the emotional, melodrama type while the other is more of the romantic feel. 

Putting the blame of hate for this drama on the "copy" or KSH is crazy. If they put their hatred for this drama because of the lack of writing currently, I totally get it. But their reasoning is just crazy.

Pyeha Sun: defending Sun. (Part 7)

Defending Sun on the 7 accounts of meeting HG, regarding the accusation of whether did Sun kept his distance well thus far with HG, not carelessly encourage/misled her to continue with hopes for returned affections by giving her attentions unbecoming & unnecessarily, as chided by some. Wrote this with the declaration that I am 100% shipping Sun with GE, not just treating her as a love interest only.

In the beginning, @ First account, Writernim broke all norms and introduced second lead being the First Girl to see his face at his entire life, including introducing an immediately “skinship’ experience of him covering her mouth at close proximity… But thru’out this whole ‘life-changing’ few seconds solely on HG’s part, it doesn’t mean anything sentiments on Lee Sun’s ends, as he was not even looking at her but was keeping a watch out for Eunuch Chunsoo not to notice them. It’s all about saving this strange girl’s life from being executed, when he has many incidents in time past having witnessed lives of maids or Eunuch being wasted for having seen his life. But thru’out that sedan-chair encounter with GE, it was an breathtaking locked gaze for a good few mins between the OTP, between the two, it was earth stop spinning, time frozen, breath-holding, almost trance like feels.

Second account of riding with her to stop the beheading of Magistrate Han: he was planning to run there when she offered the horse, so why not since its about life and death matter. Its plainly his good memories that he remembered her as the girl that he saw in greenhouse, when she unlocked the door to let him out, being gratified that he was given a chance to be freed, he has no time to bother why is she here. The taking of the offer of riding with her has nothing that we should be worried about, and is not in any sense practical to turn her offer down just ‘not’ to ride with a girl. Some fans at the beginning ranted that riding together misguide her further into delulu. At that moment, taking into consideration that nothing stand in between rushing to save the dad of the Girl that matters most to him.

Third account meeting HG, while Sun knelt before GE’s house right after the execution. By asking her “Do you know who I am?” He trusted that she already realised his identity by the first few meetings… It was a common answer from any subjects: “you are the one who saved my life.” To Seja, it’s an answer sufficient to erase any doubts as to what contributed to her being earnest in keep helping him. It’s totally a sense of benevolence that Seja felt towards ALL his subjects. and there’s thus far quite common even for maids and noble ladies to show awe and gratitude without the needs to guess any hidden 'agenda' in any female he thus far encountered. As a monarch Seja should be accustomed to bestow mercies and having the overwhelmed subjects pledged allegiance & sworn gratitude in like manner as HG did. Should we expect him to say there no need to remember her name? It common in past saeguk dramas, when a maid did something well, the Seja will ask her name and praise her and say ‘well done, i will remember your name.” its just a simple gesture from a crown prince but it meant a lot to the maid or guard often, so we do not need to read into that gesture and think it unwarranted gesture to serve her delulu imaginations.

4^th  meeting at the Merchant-meeting, it’s obvious that when he came to her to seek the source of the copper reunion after 5 yrs (to get the merchants to loan to the poor villagers). As he throw out his charms to speak to a hall full of rich merchants, his focus was not on the Female-Head sitting at the far End of the Room (HG). Even when they sat opposition each other at meal, noticed her queer abnormal gaze, then: “why are you looking at me like that?” Obviously he has none of recollection even yet. Only when HG said, “Do you Not recognise me?…. you once saved my life.”
did he suddenly remembered the whole incident including her name. Which means that incident which was locked in his memories like other common memories, then gushed back which lead to his saying "Hwa Gun?” as he remembered that she requested him to call her by that name at next meeting. By remembering her name does not amount to anything.

5^th meeting: Crossing River, Boat journey and his covering her with his cloak. HG lied that she had business there, and just offering helps because she’s taking same route, since she was a chief head of merchants in the city. Sun’s kind gentleman's gestures in extending a hand to help her board the boat, & covering her with his cloak are part of what Joseon yangban nobles/scholars will be expected to do. These gestures are common in those days between the stronger gender towards a noble lady, whether is it to a stranger, or new acquaintance. Why CW did not interfered n deem it’s fine that his Master should uncovered himself and offered his cloak to cover HG from the chill sea-breezes, is evidences that this is the norm. He been the silent witness of the growing fondness while Pyeha was oblivion to .

6^th meeting: as for pulling her into the shadow to hide her from Kim WooJae(HG’s dad) in another close proximity… their secret mission will be compromised if she as mediator between him and Japanese merchants has her cover blown, if he don’t hide her well.  Just like the first incident where he hid her, both incidents are meant to save a subject’s life. In no way was it sufficient to suggest that he encourage her to have any fondness festered. As in both close proximity encounters, he wasn’t showing any romantic and shy signs of enjoying the close proximity, and was looking at the direction of the Eunuch or HG’s dad.

The crucial 7^th meeting (ep 13) at the beach where she lean on his bosom provided the most ranting against our Pyeha. Unfortunately this account is easily been misinterpreted regarding Pyeha’s ‘noble idiocy”. Just before this, seeing her volunteered to get the Gisaeng's help to escape from the lair of Kim WooJae (HG’s dad) again allowed him to trust her further that she helps purely out of gratitude of saving her life 5 yrs ago. When he reached the beach, he found her wounded by Kim WooJae’s sword. By his own words “treating the wounds comes first”, we should agree that enemies can be caught later. We are fooled by the preview having her confessed her affection which was not shown and never happened at all. Instead we heard in voiceover, that she laments she betrayed him by helping her father to run away. Instead she voiced aloud her apologies which lead Pyeha to ask “Why would you be sorry when you got hurt while helping me? Doesn’t it hurt a lot?” At most he was naïve and off guard, but he is not taking the whole leaning at his bosom saga to be her showing affection and confessing to him…
Esp as she indeed was found wounded & slashed at her arm, and she teared “Yes, I didn’t know it would hurt this much.” (Again, it was still a voiceover that she promised herself, that she will never betray Seja again.) We obviously can tell that he was taken aback, at the sudden weakness shown by the Young Lady Merchant, so he comforted the emotionally ‘shocked’ girl: “you must be very startled. It’s all right now.” Patting her with a single palm just like a brother, as you do not find him pulling her into a full embrace, or taking advantages by drawing the distance between them closer & cuddled. We are fooled by the fake preview that shown she saying she does not desire to own his heart, she just want to like him, no confession was given to the Seja.

8th account of meeting: A near confession on return boat journey, this might be the very time Sun has a slight uneasiness over her word. “Actually, I joined you because I wanted to help you. I am your person. So will you trust me in any circumstances?” Take note of “I am your person” indicate not just the sense of being “your woman’ in romantic sense. It’s a common declaration between comrades on a same mission or a subordinate pledge allegiance to his/her master, and claiming he is at the master’s disposal, and will do anything he wanted at any prices. Actually both CW and Park MooHa are good examples of being a “person” belonging to Seja, see how CW and Park MooHa swore allegiance to him, sworn loyalty, obedience, and trust to follow his lead. 
From the above 8 accounts, we cannot conveniently blame that Sun is reckless about leading a girl and encouraging her to like him more…  How I wish she will confess soon and he will wake up, start rejecting her & refuse to reciprocate her feelings. By these we can conclude, Sun has not contributed in any senses to suggest and encourage any affections towards him.

 

sorry, i took some times to edit the defence regarding Pyeha Sun, whether is he in any way over-reacting to show any cares, served as encouragements to HG to continue in liking him, (as so said some.) i am lazy to find the original article that i have deleted. so post i here.

I think alot of the irrational hate comes from Kim Yoo Jung fans.  Its well known in Korea that the media keeps fanning the war between the two child actresses and it doesn't help that they belong to the same agency.  The famous three includes Kim Sae Ron but due to her indiscretions, its really these two on top now and hence the incessant flaming and put down to prove one is better than the other.  The sad thing is the girls are friends in real life but the competition has been so pressurizing I'm not even sure if they still talk to each other.  They haven't mentioned one another in a while now.  I think one party really needs to leave Sidus.  For the health of the company and the girls as well.  Its getting ridiculous really.  All three have beautiful qualities, Kim Sae Ron is tough and sprightly, Kim Yoo Jung is outgoing and vivacious and Kim So Hyun - the most introverted of the three is known for her considerateness and purity.   Its hard being either of them right now, just look at how Kim Yoo Jung was witch hunted for an innocent leg position at a press conference.  Scary really.  Just ignore and support them.  The competition will always be there but here's hoping they will learn to survive it with grace and not become jaded and bitter over time.

Most of the time I manage to ignore them but sometimes the comments get so much. I'm just sitting here thinking, these girls are like friends in real life. I mean, this may be way off topic but YJG said in a recent interview that he sees KSH/KYJ often outside to meet up and hang. And that he is currently watching Ruler since he is a big fan of YSH & wants to support KSH. 

I mean, their company definitely has an eye for talent, I must say. I agree, out of the three, the one who is more private and more considerate/pure has gotta be KSH. Even reading that recent interview with Water Bureau Guy, he said that he doesn't want to see KSH to lose that pure and innocence in her. 

I feel as if KSH is just like her character Ga Eun. More considerate for others. Which is oddly ironic how GE is getting so much "dislike" for her lack of character and KSH is always getting this hate for no apparent reason.

I am a kYJ fan .... I hate to see her name drag out like this .. that poor girl is innocent and yet her name some how unnecessarily connected.

Even though not directly her but her fans .. still it hurts me.

This does not happen with KYJ fans only .. happen to every fandom ... KYJ dramas were also put down by some anti fans .. her name was also tarnished by some anti fans ... anti fans are everywhere .. I just hope we can ignore and not talk about it.

It does not happen to KSH only .. I know there are people that do not want to watch K2 because of Yuna .. and I know some hate Go Hye Sun and boycotted her dramas .. same goes to Park Shin Hye and Park Min Young.. antis are everywhere ..

BTW - I am a fan of every talented actor/actress ... I don't restrict myself to certain actress it would be such a loss .... so it hurt me to see such thing happening. I hope at least we can put a stop to this thing - in this thread at least .. KYJ may became the next target if we continue to talk about her fans.

Finally found time to share some of my thoughts for this week's episodes. Please indulge me, like always.

DM: I hate the guy in the drama but I'm loving him at the same time as a character. He struggled during his earlier years and instead of beating the odds positively, he chose to move past his struggle and conquer the ruling class that had treated him badly. I like villains who are intelligent, like DM who has done this intricate web of power plays among his members. DM's way is clear cut, you're either with him or against him.

HG: I think I've shared this before, this character is really interesting. She is at a crux, straddling between her family and the man she loves. Admittedly, sometimes I think HG's feelings for CP is not love but a long drawn out infatuation and at times, I think she does love CP albeit without sincerity. I'm still on the fence whether I'd totally hate or what. But like always, I do look forward to how her character turns out until the end.

FCP/LS: Among the 4 main characters, this is one I'm a bit struggling to understand. I get it, he is at the mercy of DM, his life is at stake. But I was at least hoping during the five years, we were at least shown that he was working on making himself better. He wanted the chance to study, like what he told CP just before they switched. I hope he will have more motivation to fight off DM and not just because of GE. LS is already struggling as DM's puppet king, and at the same time he is at the center of the competition between DM and QD.

QD: She really knows how to play up among people's interest. She told GE she's reinstate her father's honor and then making the King appear as the bad guy. She played on GE's emotions too, telling her she wants to dethrone the King for the people's sake. On the other hand, she used FCP's emotions, dangling GE's company as court lady in her attempt to bring the FCP/current King over to her side.

I do understand that the most important thing for GE is reinstating her father's honor. But, she has not forgotten the crock/info that Royal Concubine aka CP's mom dying statement that the Pyunsoo Group is the cause of her father's death. Isn't that the main reason why she wanted to enter the Palace and the King's Greenhouse? To look for that crock? I hope this doesn't get lost in the story.

It's sad to see that when something is wrong with a drama, the first person to get blame is the actress/es. Being an actress is not easy. They get blame for not being good enough for the male lead, their character cries too much, or they are too weak, or not beautiful enough, etc. Actors definitely have it easier than actresses. When Yoo Seung Ho got casted, there were praises for him everywhere, but people were worry who would be paired with him. Then Kim So Hyun got casted as female lead, and there were complaints as well as praises. Although loved by many, there were complaints such as "Why her?", "Really, KSH? I wish it was this other actress...", "I think this actress would be better," etc. If KSH was casted before YSH, can we say the same for her? "Why YSH?," there are better actors who could play her love interest." No, not really because we know whoever would get cast as male lead would be perfect (and casting YSH is perfect). There may be complaints about casting male lead after female lead, but it's little compared to male lead and then female lead. Like I said before in a previous post, we know YSH can cry. He's the king of tears. While other praises him for his crying scenes, I feel only a few handful complimented for KSH's crying scene. As the show progress, people then complained that KSH's character cries too much, HELLO! This is a MELODRAMA, not a romantic comedy. Of course she has too cry a lot and have to pour out many emotions. It is not easy to act out crying scenes. For her to even produce tears during filming is amazing. We know there are many actors and actresses that does crying scene and have no tears. Do we have the same reaction when YSH's character cries a lot? Yes, but not many.

As I've said before, I'm a fan of both, although I am more of a KSH fan. When I heard that Yoo Seung Ho was casted, I knew already that I have to give this a drama a try because I am his fan. However, when I heard KSH was casted, I knew I had to stay till the end. This is perfect casting for me. At the beginning of the forum (yes, I am a silent reader, but I have been here from the beginning), when YSH was casted, everybody was excited for the drama and for him, but then KSH got casted, I felt like it was not as hyped. I never realized how much fans YSH has until this forum. I was asking to myself, "Where are all the KSH's fans?" as I read the forum. I know that many people believe this forum mostly only have KSH's fan, but it only feels like that because fans were complaining she had little screen time or others thought her character's is not well developed. It's hard to mention YSH because of his perfect acting and it is a male centric drama with politics, but mostly because he is YSH. Everyone is happy with his casting. He is rated best child actor turned actor for a reason. He is well loved and praised for his acting.

Anyway, besides my many rants, I am glad I am the type of person who looks at acting more than plot. If I am a person who is into plot more than acting, I will never be happy with a drama or movie. There are too many dramas with plot holes, so it is better for me to be entertain by the actors acting instead. 

Also, as much as I love the main characters and their moments together, one of my favorite part for this week was when CP/CS declares that he can't live without Ga Eun. How sweet! My other favorite scene was when WB told him to either love her or to let her go. WB is right, if CP/CS feels like he is not worthy of her love, then let her go. It is not fair for Ga Eun to see someone who looks like and sounds like her first love, when the person in front of her is her first love, but he doesn't want to admit it. Oh yeah, can't forget the scene with LS's little sister. It's adorable how she looking out for her unnie. Love it!

today is KSH's Korea FM! I can't find her schedule anywhere at the moment but does she have filming for the next few days? If she has this FM, she has to return filming or she can rest for the rest of the weekend for her bday? 

anyways, I hope the fans have fun at the FM! 

@Tram92 that's what I've been saying! people who complain about the amount of tears and crying in this drama, I'm just slapping my own head! this drama from day one had stated that it's VERY politic driven melodrama! almost all historical dramas are that!

If I'm not wrong, QD has half the royal military loyal to her, so her power comes from military strength. I think we are supposed to assume she came from a powerful family even before she was Queen. 

One a separate note, who else is waiting for K.Will's OST to come out! I hope it gets released next Wed~ I can't stop playing the scene with the song!

i stumbled across YSH ruler's clips and wallah, why this kid become a hot namja. he has such a beautiful smile and i decided to try to watch this ruler and turn out i like it. and this forum is only platform that i have to fangirl, to exaggerate or whatever u wanna call about the drama, the cast, the OTP  i cant talk about it with my friends, my husband or my siblings because kdrama is not in their diary. sorry from this ahjumma trying to fangirl over a few hot boys lol

Yes, chemistry is very subjective. Even how good or bad a drama is could be subjective. For example, I am not a fan of DOTS at all but look at its popularity and how good it had been reviewed by others! I also know in other dramas where I could feel the chemistry from the OTP but many others do not...

I also believe that CP wont get the chance to come clean. But I think they will solidifying their feelings for each other which will help in the future long term. At least that is my hope. 

 

I don't like it too, but it seems that we will get some more otp moments before she goes into the Palace. But I don't like it, that she is now closer to LS physically instead of CP.

Before he can tell her, I'm sure others (fake king/QD/HG/other possibility) could expose it to her or she'll find out one way or another by herself at the wrong timing. Then the romance angst and sorrow and tears ensue. That's melodrama for you

I think alot of the irrational hate comes from Kim Yoo Jung fans.  Its well known in Korea that the media keeps fanning the war between the two child actresses and it doesn't help that they belong to the same agency.  The famous three includes Kim Sae Ron but due to her indiscretions, its really these two on top now and hence the incessant flaming and put down to prove one is better than the other.  The sad thing is the girls are friends in real life but the competition has been so pressurizing I'm not even sure if they still talk to each other.  They haven't mentioned one another in a while now.  I think one party really needs to leave Sidus.  For the health of the company and the girls as well.  Its getting ridiculous really.  All three have beautiful qualities, Kim Sae Ron is tough and sprightly, Kim Yoo Jung is outgoing and vivacious and Kim So Hyun - the most introverted of the three is known for her considerateness and purity.   Its hard being either of them right now, just look at how Kim Yoo Jung was witch hunted for an innocent leg position at a press conference.  Scary really.  Just ignore and support them.  The competition will always be there but here's hoping they will learn to survive it with grace and not become jaded and bitter over time.

 

I hope so too. But it's not easy if they do not have support from their agency and their fans.

This is a MELODRAMA, not a romantic comedy. Of course she has too cry a lot and have to pour out many emotions. It is not easy to act out crying scenes. For her to even produce tears during filming is amazing. We know there are many actors and actresses that does crying scene and have no tears. Do we have the same reaction when YSH's character cries a lot? Yes, but not many.

As I've said before, I'm a fan of both, although I am more of a KSH fan. When I heard that Yoo Seung Ho was casted, I knew already that I have to give this a drama a try because I am his fan. However, when I heard KSH was casted, I knew I had to stay till the end. This is perfect casting for me. At the beginning of the forum (yes, I am a silent reader, but I have been here from the beginning), when YSH was casted, everybody was excited for the drama and for him, but then KSH got casted, I felt like it was not as hyped. I never realized how much fans YSH has until this forum. I was asking to myself, "Where are all the KSH's fans?" as I read the forum. I know that many people believe this forum mostly only have KSH's fan, but it only feels like that because fans were complaining she had little screen time or others thought her character's is not well developed. It's hard to mention YSH because of his perfect acting and it is a male centric drama with politics, but mostly because he is YSH. Everyone is happy with his casting. He is rated best child actor turned actor for a reason. He is well loved and praised for his acting.

Anyway, besides my many rants, I am glad I am the type of person who looks at acting more than plot. If I am a person who is into plot more than acting, I will never be happy with a drama or movie. There are too many dramas with plot holes, so it is better for me to be entertain by the actors acting instead. 

Also, as much as I love the main characters and their moments together, one of my favorite part for this week was when CP/CS declares that he can't live without Ga Eun. How sweet! My other favorite scene was when WB told him to either love her or to let her go. WB is right, if CP/CS feels like he is not worthy of her love, then let her go. It is not fair for Ga Eun to see someone who looks like and sounds like her first love, when the person in front of her is her first love, but he doesn't want to admit it. Oh yeah, can't forget the scene with LS's little sister. It's adorable how she looking out for her unnie. Love it!

 

I am NOT a fan of either YSH or KSH, even though I fangirl over the boy but without a doubt they are one of the most talented younger actors in Korea. There is always comparisons among actors but what's important is that the actors need to believe they have fans who support their work, no matter how many negative words are thrown at them. They need to be mature enough to filter out the 'noise' in order to survive in entertainment industry.
