I think the story's getting more interesting with the queen's involvement. I feel like she connects everyone together; DM, fake king, CP, GE, not sure about HG. Everyone is not all over the place now. I like her character; she's smart, cunning and knows how to play the game.

And I hope GE accepts QD's request, enters the palace and start learning the truth - im pretty sure the thing she was supposed to find in the greenhouse will reveal the truth to her (after being played by the queen of course). There will be less CPxGE moments :'( but at least she wont be the only oblivious one in this drama and can help CP afterwards.

I'm pretty sure that the queen was the only wife of the king, concubines have a much lower standing compensable to the one of better servants, all of the king's children are officially her children, especially since his real mother has died. Since age and hierarchy matter a lot in East Asia, when the king's mother is alive he has to honor her like no other person on this earth. Those are the reasons of her influence morally speaking.

More realistically speaking the queen almost always have to come from rich and political influential families, more often than not out has a political reason why the king married her, which is why she is part of a very powerful political party herself and a force to be reckoned with, even DM has to think twice before touching her because of the avalanche it might set off.

If you ever watch a Chinese historical drama (one that is more about the plot than about pretty young actors) you will see how complicated court politics can be, it's a hundred times worse than games of thrones XDDD

i stumbled across YSH ruler's clips and wallah, why this kid become a hot namja. he has such a beautiful smile and i decided to try to watch this ruler and turn out i like it. and this forum is only platform that i have to fangirl, to exaggerate or whatever u wanna call about the drama, the cast, the OTP  i cant talk about it with my friends, my husband or my siblings because kdrama is not in their diary. sorry from this ahjumma trying to fangirl over a few hot boys lol

well I have same worries like you but seeing how he griefed our CP's "death" and still remembered him after 5 years of hard living in the Palace with regreat of how our CP "died" and he (Lee Seon) couldn't be the kind of King our CP wanted to be gave me hope that their friendship will last and won't be broken and the character's chart helped me too since they had friendship lign and no rivalty lign which is a good thing!! 

I hate thaour OTP may get seperated physically for a while (pleaaaaaaaase not more than an episode) but intimacy wise nothing will happen between Ga Eun and Lee Seon they'll be like siblings/friends but nothing more which I can live with, still want my King to find a way to reach her inside the Palace!!

the Queen is powerful not only because of her title but because she's from a powerful family and half of the royal military are on her side and that's why Dea Mok couldn't oppose her when she stepped in to be the "fake" King's assistant till he becomes adult and that's why he was trying to have the authority to print coins to have power of money and thus have more controle than her since the people on her side will take his in need of money but he failed thanks to our King!!

@Berou yes, Berou, not just at the beginning of this thread. even back at the YooSeungHo actor thread, we were over filled with joy when KSH was casted. actually when Ruler was confirmed to be YSH project, we started listing out and guessing who are the potential co-leads, and KSH was one of those we predicts and hope will co act with her.

dear Monarchs, you all can go to that site and see how exuberant we goes at the news of KSH going to romance YSH.
i am a ruin when it come to OTP and skinship... my delulu state is dangerously threatening to my "mental health" hahah. so i am from Day one waiting for skinship... even as i know both KSH and YSH has a clean image of being the Nation Brother and Nation Sister to keep up... Hot skinship like those of Sacred Heart will be not possible. But i still dream that MBC break their norm of keeping saeguks chaste and 'clean"... we were even saying maybe finally YSH can fall in love in his real life... no one ever know of him ever has any love experiences.  he so mentioned his kissing scenes are executed to perfect by doing research and watching other dramas... something like that, so we keep thinking his kissing scenes were 'perfect' was still lacking... wanted him to really fall in love and he will act well his skinship scene. 
so we place a high hope in this drama and in YSH/KSH... we really loved her a lot. just go to our thead and peep.

nuff said. like i said before,  some times really need to keep the positive vibes going, you never knwo whether SoHyun or Seungho have any English Speaking friends or Drama Crews that speak English that will lurk at this Soompi or Dramabeans, any positive posts may encourage them, vice versa any negative words will discourage them. its not MBC boss affected most, but my YSH and KSH affected most.
dramabeans has yet to post recaps, i am very discouraged. i used to be at dramabeans before i parked here. i wish everyone love my OTP as well as their projects.

Hello chingus/Monarchs!. I still haven't able to back read our thread . I scanned our thread hence I was able to find out about the hierarchy in Joseon Dynasty. Thank you for the brief history/cultural lessons chingus specially to @maryofbethany and @gerrytan8063

DM - I have the same sentiment with @wackeemarie with regards to DM. He's the kind of person you'll love to hate. I find his character very interesting, not the typical cut board cut-out type of villain wherein he's just power hungry. Based from the previous episodes, DM came from the lower rank in the society (correct me if I'm wrong, or is he also a noble from birth?). He gave his loyalty but someone with power (or is it the King?) wronged him and when he seeked counsel to Master WB he took Master WB's advice in a wrong way. And I think it's 'normal' (can't find the proper term to use, sorry^^) that he'll diverge from the "proper/right/just" road especially if he doesn't have someone to guide/support him. I think him and CP/LS (the real CP) are somewhat similar - both are powerless (CP is from the royalty but we all know who yields the true power), they weren't able to protect their loved ones and both want to obtain power to protect their important persons. They just differ in how they used it - one wants power to command fear while the other wants it for benevolence. It's just that CP decided to take least road travel. And is lucky that there is somebody he can lean on. 

FCP/LS/childhood friend of GE - I've seen little growth on him. He is still the FCP/LS he was 5 years ago - smart but weak-willed. How I wish the writer could developed his character more. Because the potential for him to be "MORE" interesting character is there. See, he had experienced his fair share of difficulties. He's smart and he was given power/authority. Is it bad of me if I want him to be on the gray side - not on the white/just side like CP or dark side like that of DM. 

QD - Honestly I understand why the QD wants to dethrone the current king - because she knows the king is fake. And if I were her I would also do the same. Why would I let an OUTSIDER, specially if he was put there by DM to handle the matters of the nation. I don't know if she is doing this for the goodness of the people or for selfish reasons. But damn, QD is such a sly/manipulative person. I hate how she dangles GE to FCP as a leverage to control him. And how she used GE's father to exploit GE. 

CP and GE. Amongst the character CP has the most growth. From a reckless naive prince to a diligent, responsible individual. Though sometimes his recklessness was still shown. I can't wait how the writers would weave CP and GE story when/if GE decided to enter the palace. 

HG - I'm worried what would HG do especially now she knows the CP she adores likes someone else. 

I'm really interested to the unknown individual in the palace. Is he/she on DM side or QD side? Can't wait for the next episode!

Indeed there is definitely more good in LS than there is darkness. I just hope that this obsession that he has with GE, will not become his darkness. 

I wonder what would happen if LS finds out that CP is still alive and that him and GE are in love. Perhaps that could be his turning point? 

Okay I clearly think this drama may become more darker. I definitely want more sweetness and romance but saguek drama is always up and down. Melodrama. 

 

For it all you know GE may not enter the Palace. That is what I am hoping for and praying for!

okay right now i am rewatching that 4th time thru cable tv. right now it is that Beach scene where HG lean at his bosom. the naive young king was totally comforting a subject. see, he moved slightly away... he moved his body and legs shifted but hesitate because this girl is still bleeding and may be having some 'emotional shock' thru the bleeding... some people does have shock upon seeing blood shed, ...

back to your comment. the last ep has many precious scene. at my 3rd watching, i also loved that scene where he mentioned cannot live without GE... some times it is when you are pressed and stressed then at that sudden outburst you will spill your thoughts.
just before that confession, unexpectedly, Master WB in his drunket state was asking him what he plan to do with GE , meaning if he still act ignorance and keep distance, he better let go of her completely, don't keep turning u in front of her caring for her as Chief Peddlar,
there's a hint that Master WB purposely make those comments, remember he was saying GE deserve a man much better than Pyeha Real Sun, then he furthered say GE need to find a guy as handsome as himself WB... that was when i go LOL... he obviously is acting drunk, to make a scene and iron in his thoughts to the hesitating Pyeha Sun. because of his much direct hitting, it hit at Sun's weakness. add on to CW chiding that Real Sun should remember it is not him for kill Magistrate Han but Pyunsoo , asking him, he has lost his King-dad and Queen-mum, is he prepared to lost GE.... that hit right at bulleyes.. Master WB plus CW doubt impact hitting, final wake the Pyeha Sun up that, he cannot give up ...
and BAM. the so raw and beautiful declaraction, and confession, that finally he faced his own heart. i cannot live wihout GaEun.
i actually loved that scene second to the bedscene (huh.. sorry, my delulu-ness, i mean "Bed-hug-scene").

@kaoriharang  me too. i am hoping she can just enter randomly as the garden landscape worker, not as a court lady. i said before, she can asked to be Medical Nurse, instead of Court lady. Medical Nurse can stay close in the palace, summon to king any time for medical treatment.

back then MBC very own Moon Embracing the Sun was good on romance, but the writing was excellence. that drama alone many awards everywhere. .. what a waste with the talent of KSH and YSH wasted if the script do not have the same kind of balance in heavy in plot yet filled with heart-wrenching tears , and as well as Sweet moments of OTP to comfort our delulu mind. i watched Moon Embracing Sun, it has somehing like that....

so just hope the writing can make the OTP moments more ...  both KSH and YSH are the best Youngest artistes that can deliver Melodrama. i cannot find another pair that can do this project better.

Ok, i am now watching GE suppressing her anger when face to face with 'the man who beheaded my father".... it take valor and virtues and amazing self-control not to yell and throw bitter curse at this man who kill your dad... i beleived she is not fearful of getting killed even if she get her revenge right there at the greenhouse, i think this Young Lady been brought up by her dad well enough to know, that at certain times, personal grudges should be buried for the sake of the good of the nation, if seeking her revenge and killing the king right there will not give back her father honor.... i loved that she ask for Honor reinstate and not blood shed.  this scene where she was so well controlled, by itself show that she is fit in virtues as the future "Mother of Nation".  Saeguks always call their king: "Father of the Nation.". so Queen will be "Mother of the Nation".

side-note. where to google and hire a security guard like CW and Gon... i loved the fighting scene at the beach,.. CW and GON.. wow. haha

I am certain her father will be proven innocent by CP. He feels really guilty about it and so he is working so hard to bring down DM. And nearly losing his love made him realise he cannot live without her. She is his everything. So important! He seemed a bit shy when peasant LS' sister teased him about GE. Kids are intuitive and she can see the love between them, oh so clearly!  And his look of surprise when she interrogated him is so cute!

I feel he is totally dense towards HG's feelings. He really doesn't think much about her. She is his ally in the fight against DM but if he knows she is his granddaughter, he will definitely push her away!

I often feel like kicking him in the head when he is overprotective of her and thinks she cannot handle the truth. @LoveSG same. my site also interpreted WB whole accusation as "Why are you a fool?... what wil you do about GaEun? will you go after her, or let her go? .... then let her go (when Sun said he is not deserving her).... you are not the only man in this world, poor GE lsot her father..i should take care of her, she will marry someone who is infinitely better than you. A man who is as handsome as me."
marriage will always be on the mind immediately for a man and a woman once shown interest in each other.... it open fact that he loves her, and also even close neighbors knows GE still waiting for Chunsoo.  to me those sentence was meant to be a push and pull effect.  it is the "will you go after her" that was his initial intention of that outburst. by "A man who is as handsome as me." is both hilarious and also showing ok, right now i am watching that very scene. this very scene paly out at my TV.

this scene stand alone to display that inner realisation that hit hard to home that he is ruin without GE. finally he realised it. he canot push this aside any more. that why he went to the safe house where GE was reminise over him......

next scene.. Sohyn eyes was so swollen and red from repeated crying at that scene.. i guess they shot quite thorough to get that effect...
oops, i never knew YSH hands can also act... it trembled freeze in mid-air before finally withdrawn to his side when GE reject his comfort.

Okay I clearly think this drama may become more darker. I definitely want more sweetness and romance but saguek drama is always up and down. Melodrama. 

 

For it all you know GE may not enter the Palace. That is what I am hoping for and praying for!

don't really know unless being a daughter of a highly ranked official isn't conciderate noble enough then she isn't but I think if Hwa Gun who her grandfather has no noble titles and still was a fitting candidate then our Ga Eun is more fitting then her-sure when her father's name get cleared!!

WB is boasting CP should be like him in order to woo GE  He means the current CP is not good enough for her. To me, he will not be good enough for her if he keeps feeling he does not deserve her. He should not blame himself for GE father's death but to blame the Pyunsoo group/DM and seek revenge from them. To seek revenge means to remove them completely from power and their monopoly on water.

I am watching the fighting-protecting scene again... That scene is really very well put, esp.with the use of the background music from OST. You can really feel the anxiety of CP in making sure GE is safe. At the same time, you can really feel HG's anxiety and anger that CP is being attacked, that he is protecting GE and letting himself get hurt, her feeling of helplessness for not being able to go forward and help him up. Her glare, heaving of shoulders, and tears, yet still looking so pretty. Very very well put together scene that I can watch again and again.

It’s been an amazingly full week for me, mostly because I’ve been hit with the disease where I have been finding everything interesting. Nothing has fallen off the watchlist yet, but time will tell if I can keep up this pace (I’d bet on no), and which shows will have to be put on the back-burner. For now, though, I’m reveling like a glutton. A glutton with a stomachache and dark circles from all the drama gorging. No regrets! –javabeans

Currently recapping: Seven Day Queen

Ruler–Master of the Mask: My interest is starting to wane, and I keep wishing this drama were more exciting, more smoothly written, more even in quality all around. I find myself wishing Pyunsoohwe were a better villain, because while they are effective, they seem rather one-note. I have a feeling I’d perk right up if the show actually let the three leads be in the same scenes together, but they spend so much time frustratingly apart!

Ruler — Master of the Mask: I’m gonna have to leave this one. For now, at least. I’ve got too much on my plate and this is the one show I don’t go scrambling for when an episode is released.

 

see what i meant? does KSH and YSH deserve that? but nevermind. they have US, soompi will never leave them.

jsut for KSH and YSH sake. let's move on from sad posts, keep an eye on what's going on but,, keep the positive vibes going.. if ever you see KSH or YSH face to face in future, i imagine they will tell you, thanks for staying on even when you are disappointed and the world dessert them.
