Is MG some kind of predatory lending/loansharking outfit?

Like Park Hoo Ja in "My Fellow Citizen?"

What kind of "insurance" are they selling?

Also, I would definitely cast that actor dude as a k-drama loan shark.

Give this girl a break.

She can choose whatever type of dramas or any CFs she wants to do.

No actress limit herself to just thrillers in her career or only model for bags and fashion.

She's doing a great job so far and deserves a pat on her back.

She has my back. Always.:)

I'm not sure what the relationship is between Kim Hyun Joo and Shin Hye Sun, but a quick glance at KHJ's wikipedia reveals that she did a documentary in Canada once on environmental issues. She seems to be a socially conscious person and I respect her immediately for that without having ever seen her in a show (that I know of). Popular public figures can help bring awareness to important global issues if they believe in them enough to get involved. I admire that.

Regarding ALML, when I first heard about it I was really hoping it wouldn't be a veiled promo for religion. Thankfully it was not but I wasn't sure as Koreans seem have an obsession for dieties, demons and the supernatural judging from several dramas I've seen. I agree that ALML is a rather weak story, although the parallels with the real Giselle story is interesting. I concluded that it was more a vehicle for SHS to display her incredible acting talents, although some episodes were better than others in that respect. I think SHS wanted to challenge herself with doing ballet and she loves doing love stories. Why shouldn't she, she's very good at them and they are a big part of Kdramaland. Who knows - maybe the "shipping" rumors will come to pass and we'll be seeing more of her and L for decades to come. I can only imagine the pictures of her when she's pregnant. If she wants kids she can't wait too many more years since she's almost 31.

I hope that the final episodes of ALML will feature her supreme acting talents as effectively as the first few episodes did and I hope she gets nominated for best actress for her role when the time comes even though the series will surely not be nominated for best drama. Who would be her competition for best actress I wonder?

I look forward to her next two film projects which sound like they will have more depth to them storywise. But I hope she also continues with more romantic dramas along the lines of My Golden Life and 30 but 17 because I really liked them.  So much depends on the writing also. Excellent acting can only do so much to save stories that are mediocre.  I hope she will do more fantasy romances too, even filled to the brim with magic and silliness, but with depth and interesting character development, and of course liberal doses of melodrama.

A perfect role model for SHS, except for the part where she lost too many years in doing romance and comedy, though she grabbed the right project when she decided to go for a thriller.

You know, actors dont get to decide and it pays their bills too....romcom was all that worked at a time...now its different....better late than never

KHJ is 42 and SHS is 30. SHS is still able to pull off fantasy romcoms convincingly while it may be awkward and cringey to see KHJ in one now. HS has all the time to go for thrillers in time to come why should she limit her range when she can do all now.

ALML is weak and lacking in some aspects but it is by no means the worst. I love LYS as the best badass FL who fights for what she desires. I love the chemistry with her co-star and I can't get enough of all the bts. But yes, I don't speak for all. What one likes may not be what others like, vice versa. In other words, don't judge by our own opinions.

A miss in her career? I beg to differ. It's a miss in the drama story plot but she scores by carrying the show on her own with her sterling acting making it one of her best roles so far. I am immensely proud of her dedication and hard work she put in for this challenging role in ALML.

Nuff said. We are all SHS fans here.

Only difference is... I'm just a nincompoop fangirl coming in support of my most favourite actress on earth who deserves all the accolades she can ever have. :D:rolleyes:

ALML is flawed, we all know that. It isn't the best drama out there. It's not everyone's cup of tea. Heck SHS can always do thriller but do I say it's her worst just because it isn't my preference? The fact that it is getting so much love internationally speaks volumes. I'd say it is one of her most successful projects so far. How is that bad? Because it's RomCom? I'm not here to argue but to me, a drama's success isn't just about what character the lead is playing, or what the plot is about. If so many people are enjoying it, giving it so much praise regardless of the plot holes, regardless of how inconsistent the narrative and the character development is, that it keeps trending, people talk about it, it takes no 1 or no 2 spot in ratings, aren't these measures of success too? People see right through these flaws because they enjoy it.  If this is really is a miss in her career, we'll probably know that if she doesnt get any recognition by the end of the year. But I know for sure that SHS gained so many new supporters through this drama. The boost in her IG followers (100k in what, 2 months?) says a lot. So many people are now looking forward to watching her old dramas and her next projects. If that isn't progress for her career then I don't know what is.

Shin Hye Sun Blows Everyone Away With Her Ballet Skills In “Angel’s Last Mission: Love”

Shin Hye Sun Blows Everyone Away With Her Ballet Skills In “Angel’s Last Mission: Love”

Jul 10, 2019
by J. Lim

Shin Hye Sun will be taking to the stage for her last stage in KBS’s Wednesday-Thursday drama “Angel’s Last Mission: Love.”

Spoiler

Lee Yeon Seo (played by Shin Hye Sun) expressed her determination to keep angel Dan (played by INFINITE’s L) alive, even if it means she has to give up her own life. Because of this, viewers are nervous that Lee Yeon Seo and Dan’s love story will be as tragic as the one in “Giselle,” the ballet she is preparing for. Giselle tried to keep Albrecht alive even after death, and many are curious to see whether Lee Yeon Seo will meet a similar fate.

The new stills released show Lee Yeon Seo in the middle of the ballet. She wears a white dress in the center of the stage, and the set is beautiful and plaintive. Shin Hye Sun stuns as Giselle, especially as she is known to have worked extremely hard to hone her ballet skills. Her hard work is set to shine brighter than before in the performance.

The production staff stated, “Lee Yeon Seo will be holding her last ‘Giselle’ stage as she dances for Dan. It will be a symbolic stage that shows their love. Shin Hye Sun captivated everyone on set with her dancing and acting skills. Dancers from the Seoul Ballet Theater participated in the stage to create the perfect performance, and there will be lots of see.”

Hi Chingoos! Yes, well said @mylovekge I think at least 555k fans would trade places with her in an instant to have the  kind of 'failure' that she's having right now?? If this ALM:L effort isn't a complete out-of-the-park home-run success, a tour-de-force, a real coup for an actress of any age, I don't know what is. I am impressed with this writer, for the parts that she did do well, and there's just so much that was done well, I would 100% support SHS's doing this work if I had known about it (no mixed feelings about it whatsoever like I had some for MGL).

Beautiful fingers, too...

Epic-er!

My translation of Ep 14 ending. Very little difference from the sub I saw actually, but since I did it, sharing it in case it helps anyone get more immersed reading just the words.

59:48   안녕하세요 이연서에요
        Hello I'm Lee Yeon-Seo
59:50   나알죠?

        No way you wouldn't know.
59:56   모르면안되지, 그쪽이 나한테한짓을 생각하면

all the (dastardly) deeds you've done to me.

00:00   열일곱에 고아만들어 춤추는사람 눈멀게해
Made me an orphan at 17 then made a dancer go blind?
00:02   하나뿐인 아저씨까지 데려갔잖아
You even took away the only ajussi I had.

00:06   심지어 친척이라고 있는사람들은
On top of all that the so called relatives of mine

all having fits 'cause they can't kill me

00:13   심하다고 생각안해요?
        Don't you think that's a bit much??

00:16   그런데 나, 그거 원망하러 온거아니에요
But me now, I didn't come here to blame you for all that.

00:19   그남아 그쪽이 나한테 단이보내줘서 나는다 괞찬커든
At least because you sent to me Dan-ny so I am just fine you see?

00:22   난다 괞찬은데...
        I am just fine but...

00:26   단이한테 그러면안되요
You can't be doing that to Dan-ny
00:30   성우로 태어나 끔찍하게죽은것도 화가나는데
As if being born as Sung-Woo and dying a

00:34   걔가 뭘잘못했어요?
        What has he done wrong?
00:35   사랑을 알게하렸다며?
Said (you wanted him to make me) understand what love is?

00:37   나 단이 사랑해요
        I love Dan-ny
00:39   아니 뭘 얼마나대단한 사랑을 원하는지 모르겠는데!
Don't know just how lofty a love you were wanting (from me) but!

00:42   김단!
        Kim Dan!
00:43   내가 사랑한다구요!
I am the one who loves him I said!

00:46   근데...
        But...
00:48   근데 걔가 왜소멸당해야되요??
But why does he have to go kaput!?

00:53   양심이 있으면 이러면 않되잔아!
If you have any conscience you can't be doing this, can you?

00:55   이럴순 없잖아!!!
        You can't be doing THIS!!!?

(LYS wipes tears from her left cheek and takes out handkerchief)

01:20   공평한거 좋아하죠?
        You like justice/impartiality/fairness, don't you?
01:24   하날가져가면,... 하날주는거
        Take one,... give one.

01:30   맞죠?
        Right?

(Dan meets Ru-Na scene)

02:39   (LYS kneeling now)

02:59   가져가요 다
        Take it, (take it) all.
03:02   뭐든지
        Whatever it is,
03:06   기쁘게 줄수있어
I can give it with pleasure (joy)

03:10   (unison w Dan   그사람을) 살릴수만있다면
( that person ) if only I can save him.

Reading it like this, it does make one realize just how little Yeon-Seo may have actually changed, but myself knowing too many hurting souls out there just like this character, unable to trust anything like a deity, in fact blaming our misfortunes on the deity and yet sometimes begging in desperation to the same one whom we claim not to exist, now cursing, now pleading.... It's the human condition, and it made me cry again. For me, this writer has somehow done the job of bringing us to ponder the very things that she had set out to do from the beginning.

And I am so happy for this very simple reason - Shin Hye-Sun 신혜선 !!! Unlike Yeon-Seo, I need nothing more.

Insulting ALML is like insulting Shin Hae Sun. You are literally insulting her.

This is literally untrue.

SHS has turned in a fantastic performance in ALML, producing some of the best scenes of her career.

Her impressive work ethic has lead her to this result.

She has already received widespread praise, and should, deservedly, win awards for her brilliant portrayal of Yeon-Seo.

Among the k-dramas currently airing, ALML offered the best of the age-appropriate vehicles to display her talents.

Accepting the lead role in ALML was the best option available to her.

But consider her previous lead drama roles: Five Children, My Golden Life, Stranger, 30 But 17, Hymn of Death.

Due to factors outside of SHS' control (writing, directing, co-lead cast, supporting cast, etc.), each of those previous dramas has been, overall, better than ALML.

ALML has been all of the following: a great SHS performance, the best project selection option for Spring/Summer 2019, and the worst drama that she has had a lead role in.

@kokkuri33

I wondered if you were even concentrating on Hae Sun, seeing your comments in the other thread were fixed on other actors more. Reading your comment makes me wonder once more. Well, I disagree with you. I can’t say more than that. I can’t speak on others behalf.

In the end - whatever floats your boat.

What is it about proving ALML her worst project? Why are y'all obsessing over this? You really think she didn't get any other offers other than ALML? Is that it? That she had no other choice but this? Or maybe you think she actually did a bad life decision choosing this among others? Believe me, Ive had moments where I wanted to criticise ALML so bad, but looking at where it brought SHS overpowers this force in me to even say anything against it. Because I'm a fan of her before anything else. And I chose to trust her in this. I wouldnt say this is better than her old dramas because it isn't, but the effort she put into this has outdone everything else!

Now I'm not saying you should do the same thing. Your feelings, your opinions are yours and I respect that. But I honestly feel offended for her for choosing to do this, for myself because I'm actually enjoying watching her on ALML. Maybe you think we're fools or idiots or stupid to even enjoy the show, and i dont know why but somehow I imagine you guys laughing at us for liking the worst drama of the year. But looking at how much she's grown in all aspects of her career, I still stand by it being her most successful project by far. And maybe something better will come soon, but for now, I am grateful she even had the chance to play this role.

I see a lot of flaws in ALML, especially in the writing. But i see much more beautiful things to look for. The leads are perfect for their roles. Myung Soo is not the best actor, but he did a great job as Kim Dan and i can't think of other actor doing this. And honestly, for me, it was her best chemistry so far. Although i loved her cute chemistry with Sejong, with Myung Soo it feels really like magic, it is painfully beautiful, cute, deep and sexy at the same time. The story development has a lot of flaws, but the characters are really good and their development too... Overall, i loved this drama.

It is extremely sad to know that her own so called fans are bashing her and her decision to lead the "worst" drama ever.

Wow, you guys are the most impartial and unprejudiced of all alright, choosing to analyse the flawed writing above all, and focus on PPL and supporting characters, hating on her character and demeaning her as the worst ever. It is to me the most offensive post to our girl.

If you think it is the worst it is. No one can convince you otherwise and there's absolutely no need to. I'm so done with all these. All I ask for is basic respect for Hyesun and her other fans on this thread. We disagree but respect your views so please respect ours too. No one likes to come to a little haven called hers to see people bashing on her and her choice of projects. It is fine if we are having differing opinions and good discussion but not plain bashing on a drama that you all hate for your own reasons when others are simply enjoying it.
