I obsessively went through the 6 minute trailer and I think there are at least 2 more big scenes in the main courtyard yet to come: It struck me that most of the things in that long trailer are things that happened in episodes 1-11. It's more heavily weighted towards the earlier episodes, but there were definitely key shots from 10-11 in that preview. I'm intrigued by the few shots in the trailer that we haven't seen yet, in addition to the ones that are in the preview for next week. @dustdevil Baek-Ah and Hae Soo angsty scene: already happened when HS replied to 8th's poem with the emoji, and 13th followed her outside to take her to task for HS's emotional affair with Lady Hae's husband (13th's interest in the matter was because he himself loved Lady Hae). Hae Soo does get more scenes where she is better dressed: The very first cap is from the 1st episode, after Ha Jin just arrived in Goryeo and became HS. I think she rushed outside her room and took in her surroundings i.e. 8th's residence.

I personally don't think it's true because it is evident that the Goryeo royalty intermarried on purpose. I don't think SHR will use that story, either. Either way, everything and anything Wang So does in SHR is to save and protect Hae Soo. @ruizaio Thank you once again for always answering so patiently and informatively. I really really appreciate it. About SHR, it's such a sad and ultimately senseless sacrifice that WS will likely marry YH to save HS, yet HS will end up dying very young (and leaving WS) anyway. And I mean, YH--I'm all for girl power, but this gal is practically the second incarnation of Queen Evil. You gotta be sorry for WS that he'll be spending the rest of his life with that devil's spawn. And though she has the potential to be a great queen (she's smart, cunning, politically savvy and all that jazz), we know from history (and can glimpse from the drama) that she'll always protect the interests of her own clan (and herself) only and will actively oppose any reform introduced by Gwangjong for the good of the common people. I don't even want to think about it anymore, it's making me too depressed.

Also, that flashback/premoniton scene implies that Yo had the assassins killed back in the palace, but I thought he had them all killed out in the forest while Hae Soo was watching. Yes he did have them killed in the forest, that is why I don't know where that other scene came from, out of the blue, and why it was red, different from the preview. Yo got defeated therefore he is brought to the palace. Now they are waiting for the king's verdict and punishment. But as you noticed it, someone is coming from the palace bringing the news that Taejo has just died. Now, Crown Prince has become the new King hence everybody kneel down and bow as a sign that he is the new King. They are all pleadging allegiance to him. There is haesoo in 1st pic. Based on your analysis, this explains why he is expecting unlimited support from his mother and sister. He saved their life and as such, they already owe him. Yet he never dared to mention it because they belonged to his family. However, he expected from Yeon Hwa submission and total support therefore he never really paid attention to her motivation and ambition. She betrays him and she lies to him in the episode 11, when she says that all she did was for him. Wang Wook believes her and adds the poisoning as a debt towards him. He does her a favour and expects again total support and submission from her. We all know that he is wrong: Yeon Hwa is much more ambitious, resentful and greedy than he is. As conclusion, this is also the reason why he is misjudging Yeon Hwa's personality. As a result she will never repay her debts towards him. @bebebisous33 You and @40somethingahjumma Get down to the facts I love reading the both of your comments.. I never thought he would see his mom and sister as debts but yes this fits his character being the deep thinker people weigher he is but you can best believe YH will stab him in the back again when it comes between him or Ws becoming King she don't care about her debts to him when in return she can become the creditor.. You are so true when you say that WW wants to try and make up in HS for what he couldn't feel for his first wife.. Which I find this a burden in it's self because HS isn't her, I'm wondering if he will ever tell HS that he promised his wife to take care of her.. Which it dosen't mean he has to marry her I'm hoping this plays a fact in HS breaking up with him because at this point I think she's just a replacement for the dead wife who she can't really tell if he;s loving her or the dead wife through her.. Interesting facts you 2 have laid out.. And on this note the more dark and scary he could be.. Maybe you can clear this up for me as well: 1) I get that the Chungju Yu would support a prince of their own bloodline to sit on the throne--but once Yo (So's older brother) got that position, why would the Yu clan support So against his older brother of the same clan and also the current king? Just because So seemed more competent? 2) Is there any historical basis for the speculation I've seen around the thread, that it was the Hwangbo princess herself who engineered the marriage to So by getting him drunk, sleeping with him, and asking the King to decree marriage the next morning? I hope the writer don't use this scenario to marry YH and WS becuse this is so cliche for Kdrama I wish for something more creative on a political bases..

Popular Post briseis
The Only Person People on Her Side “Where was she when you almost got killed? Come to your senses. You are the only one who is on your side.” - Wang So (EP03) “No one can save me but myself.” - Hae Soo (EP07) In the end, abandoned by the person she trusted the most and unable to save herself alone, Hae Soo is SAVED BY THE LOVE OF A LOVER AND THE LOVE OF A MOTHER - the feared Wolf Prince and nameless court lady.Wang So and HS were both mistaken in the end - there are always situations you can’t survive on your own and HS will NEVER be alone BECAUSE WS WILL ALWAYS STAY BY HER SIDE; like the loyal and devoted guardian Wolf Dog he is. There are so many people in the Palace who claim to care about HS, but it’s only So who is rushing to her rescue, running as if his life depended on it, and in so many ways it really does.Because when you asks the question why he keeps protecting her, who he continues risking his life for a woman who rejected him so many times the answer is heartbreakingly simple and obvious - HIS LIFE WOULD BE MEANINGLESS WITHOUT HER, HE COULDN’T LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT HER, IN A WORLD WHERE HE WOULD FAIL TO PROTECT HER (just like when he took the poison - he’s unselfish in his love for her because he was prepared to die so she could live). HIS NEED TO PROTECT HER is stronger than anything else. She is the reasons he is living for, keeping her alive means keeping himself alive. Once again, he is completely disregarding his own existence, defying the king’s order and breaking the law of the land - and he is doing for her, to protect her - ONCE AGAIN READY TO FIGHT FOR HER AGAINST THE WHOLE WORLD AND SACRIFICE HIS OWN LIFE FOR HER. Because at least then, he would be dying by her side and follow her even in the after life - SO’S WORLD NOW BEGINS AND ENDS WITH SOO. His first instict is to shield her with his own body, then to kill anyone who dares to hurt her and finally HE IS THERE TO CATCH HER WHEN SHE FALLS. If Wook is often compared to the morning sun then SO IS THE STAR SHINING BRIGHTLY AND RADIANTLY EVEN IN THE DEEPEST, DARKEST NIGHT WHEN EVEN THE MOON ITSELF IS GONE. In the brutal world of the 10th century, Wang So is best choice for a protector because he is so hard to kill - he’s basically invincible in battle and almost impervious to poison because a poison is literally running through his veins. It’s such an epic irony of fate THAT HIS richard simmons-UP, NEGLEGTFUL FAMILY ACTUALLY GAVE HIM THE ABILITIES AND SKILLS TO SURVIVE AND PROTECT THE WOMAN HE LOVES. Previously, he used them only to FIGHT FOR HIMSELF BUT NOW HE IS FIGHTING FOR HER.

Popular Post 40somethingahjumma
2 hours ago, bebebisous33 said: So the question is: why did he abandon her? It is not just because, like you said, he wants to protect his family. He only thinks of the perspective what he will gain from it. He notices that Hae Soo's love for him has wavered. She is more worried about Wang So than herself. He has noticed that she has someone else in her mind. He feels insecure. Moreover, he had never really given up the ambition to become king (see episode 9, where he is talking to himself about the seat he should fit in!). From my point of view, Yeon Hwa's words made him realise that he would lose more with Hae Soo than gain. He is doubting about her love, he wants to become the king deep down... moreover, he doesn't want to be more endebted to Hae Soo. His sister is the reason for her arrest. IF this was to be revealed, he and his sister would owe her more. He can not let that happen. By hiding the truth, he is trying to keep his debts towards Hae Soo small. When he visits her at the end of the episode 11, he can't make a committment again because - he is feeling guilty - he can be punished by his father - he loses the opportunity to become the king as Hae Soo has become a burden as court lady. If he commits himself to her in public, he will never be able to get support from other clans. He needs a more powerful wife. Here again, his thinking is: will he lose more or win more by supporting Hae Soo? His answer is: he will lose more that's why he betrays her one more time. Does he love her in the end? Since he is only seeing it from a debt-credit aspect, we can only say that his love is not deep enough. For him, love is a burden... which reveals how selfish Wang Wook is despite his gentle and caring behaviour. I really love this drama!! That's why I think the writer did a stellar job with the construction and development of these characters which was the primary reason why I wrote that post that you referred to. It was to show that she was always building something and building towards something. Based on what you and I have written, I think it's clear that Uk has been very consistently developed and I would contend that contrary to what most people thought... the writer wasn't actually showing why Uk and Su are a viable pairing but ultimately why he isn't the right man for Su. He may be the right man for some other Goryeo noblewoman who has no expectations beyond what society has stipulated but for Su, who has 21st century notions of romance, love, on top of her baggage with trust issues, he is the worst possible choice... in the long term. Because he promises much, he cannot deliver... and it isn't about his family because it goes to the very core of who he is. He is all wrong for her despite all appearances and we saw how brutally all that played out in Ep. 11. The betrayal as we would see it, is a necessary evil for him to achieve a much bigger goal. And it isn't his family. Because as saw, he was quite happy to leave them at one stage for Hwangju to marry Su only after he realised that So was a viable threat to the comfort zone he was in. For me it is a good thing that he betrayed her before he destroyed her. Well, he almost did, didn't he? She was going to entrust her future to him and we saw all too clearly that the trust was unwarranted. To me what's tragic is not that he betrayed her but that she didn't wake up to what kind of man he was until it was too late. Until someone had to die. Which leads me yet to another glorious theme in this show... that of appearance and reality. If Uk hadn't been played by an extremely good-looking, accomplished actor like KHN, do you think people would have been as enamoured with the character? I doubt it. That's entirely the point. Looks are deceiving but in world where appearances are everything, people are conned into thinking that what they see externally can tell you a what the heart of a person is like. This is such a key part of what the drama is. Su and Uk "looked" good together. Their chemistry seemed off the charts, the skinship pushed all the right buttons and really KHN is so swoonworthy when he cracks a smile that no one could really hate him. But a relationship who's only strength is based on external beauty can't go the distance. On the other side, So wears a mask and fearsome reputation because that world is utterly cruel to people with externally visible deficiencies. Rumours abound about him based on half-truths. The guy knows all about cruelty that humanity is capable of. He's experienced it all... from family to being a hostage in Sinju. The palace seems like nice place for a 21st century optimist to hang out and make friends but in reality, it is toxic. Her naivete about the people and the place had to go through a paradigm shift of seismic proportions to set the stage for a much more challenging phase in her life. All the happy clappy stuff just couldn't last. There has been a lot of criticism of the writer for taking too long for the Su-Uk romance here and elsewhere. However, I would argue that the longer we saw them together (contrasted too with her time spent with So), the more is obvious that there was something rotten in Denmark. Uk's hyperbolic promises and his inability to deliver on any promise was symptomatic of a larger issue and in ensuing episodes we saw explicitly what it was. But it seems that the writer wanted to bring in all these themes together in Ep.11 in one devastating fell swoop. That's why everyone generally agrees that 11 is the best episode because it is culmination of all the threads we saw being woven into this entire tapestry.
superkoala
Hello! Finally I made an account on Soompi to jump on Scarlet Heart Ryeo hype train Every time I watch it, I am so curious how old are the Princes and Hae Soo in this adaptation? From what I've read somewhere, age of the main characters on the book start out at: Crown Prince - 30 4th Prince - 26 8th Prince - 23 9th Prince - 21 10th Prince - 21 13th Prince - 18 14th Prince - 16 Hae Soo (Ruoxi) - 13 Of course there are some changes from the original, which I believe: 1. Hae Soo is 16 in the drama. Probably because 13 is just way too young from a modern perspective. 2. 14th Prince (Jeong) is younger than Hae Soo. Since they added 3 years to Hae Soo's age, Jeong is slightly younger by a couple months. 3. Other princes are supposed to be older than Hae Soo, although I'm not so sure about 10th (Eun) and 13th (Baek Ah) Prince. 10th Prince is a little bit immature as a 20-something adult. 4. 4th (So) and 8th (Wook) Prince were born in the same year. I'm just really curious, please share your perspective Edited September 30, 2016 by superkoala
