I so agree with those who are now waiting for the SoSoo romance to really take off with some trepidation because of the knowledge of C-BBJX's ending. For me, this means that I'm desperately trying to figure out how any changes or variations from the original (both the novel and C-BBJX) could severely or minutely change the trajectory So and Soo will take in this version. These are just a few I could come up with off the top of my head:

• So told Soo she was in love with someone else in this version
  • In C-BBJX, the fact that 8th and Ruoxi were in a relationship before is what made 4th so mad that he finally agreed to let her leave the palace.
  • Here, though, So is aware that Soo liked someone else. He might not know it was Wook (although he might become suspicious after next episode...) but it shouldn't have as big an impact as it did on him when he finds out. Of course, if Wook takes it upon himself to describe his relationship with Soo in vivid details (although I really can't see how vivid their relationship was and how he can make it more detailed unless he lies. They didn't even kiss in this version and So kissed her first...) to a So who is already mad... then all bets are likely off...
• King didn't arrange for Soo and Jung (14th) to get married
  • In C-BBJX, Ruoxi's refusal of this marriage is what led the Emperor to demote her to go wash laundry. This is also the decree Ruoxi finally used in order to escape the palace in the end.
  • However, here, the reason for Soo's demotion was the poisoning and the King's desire to get her away from the princes. There is no bestowal of marriage. And with the King's impending death in the next episodes, I hope to God he doesn't have the time or energy to order this marriage in an effort to halt So's intent to marry Soo
• Wook (8th) isn't married
  • In C-BBJX, 8th's wife is the one who went to speak to Ruoxi, blaming her for turning 8th against 4th and causing 4th to be after 8th once he became Emperor. This realization led to Ruoxi's miscarriage (along with her weak body from spending years washing laundry) and 4th forcing 8th to divorce his wife (whom he really loved). Said wife committed suicide and added to Ruoxi's general fatigue with the palace and 4th's actions.
  • Here, Wook isn't married (yet) and even if he marries, how is his wife going to be in the know of what Soo told Wook way back when she was out of her mind in terror of So. Also, Soo is being set up to be "the one that got away" for Wook. Is he really going to get married, fall so deeply in love with his wife that he's going to be destroyed if she commits suicide? I really really hope not...

 

However, there are some similarities and flat out new developments (due to the difference in the history)that put me right back in anxiety mode such as:

• Soo's warning to Wook about So
  • I think I heard the collective "NOOOOOOOO!!" when this happened, lol. Luckily, she didn't go as far as to actually give him names of people he should be wary of. In this version, Soo didn't even know of Wook's ambition for the throne so she never even tried to help him get it in any way. Girl can barely remember who the King is supposed to be, how could she even remember who helped Gwangjong be king
• Soo being demoted to water maid
  • Sadly, while the journey was different in this version, the destination is the same and the outcome might also be the same This demotion is what led to Ruoxi's weakness and why she miscarried. The years of working doing laundry plus her regrets and burdens eventually weakened her till she died. However, I can only hope Soo doesn't spend that long as a water maid but I'm not holding my breath that there won't be repercussions from this that end up killing her eventually...
• Chaeryung's potential role
  • Spoiler

    Since we do have visuals of that blood letter plus some subtle reactions from 9th regarding Chaeryung, I think it's safe to say it's going to go the way of the C-BBJX's Yutan with Chaeryung working for 9th as a spy. I only hope that Chaeryung is kindly hanged and not steamed to death or some other hideous alternative. However, her actions and So's reactions will most likely signal the beginning of the end of SoSoo

     

• So's marriage to Yeonhwa
  • This will be new and I've already talked about it before. Yeonhwa will most likely be different from the empress in C-BBJX who actually supported or realized how important Ruoxi was to 4th and tried to save their relationship. Here, Yeonhwa's more likely to torture Soo like Queen Yoo did Lady Oh. I'm hoping this becomes the external cause of Soo's death rather than the emotional implosion of SoSoo that was C-BBJX
• The parallel between Lady Oh-King Taejo and So-Soo
  • This version couldn't have made it any more obvious that SoSoo is doomed to end up like Lady Oh and Taejo. The difference though is that So isn't like Taejo so it is possible that he could fight for Soo harder than Taejo ever did for Lady Oh. However, he might be doomed to fail, Soo might be doomed to die and So will be doomed to become (if he wasn't already before Soo's death) the cruel but effective King Gwangjong.
• So is yandere
  • In both versions, 4th loves Ruoxi/Soo a whooooooooooooooole lot, lol.
    • 4th in C-BBJX became very very sensitive with regards to  Ruoxi being hurt and he became almost fanatical in his protection of her (See what he did to 8th and his wife, or Yutan) and he was relatively well adjusted before he got involved with Ruoxi.
    • K-BBJX has taken it upon itself to dial this up to the ninths: So is hardly equipped to deal with his overwhelming feelings for Soo so I'm completely betting he becomes even more obsessive (LJG said it himself) and protective than Yinzhen ever was. How this translates in the Korean historical settings is something to look forward to.

@violet90  This is whats making me upset about this part because Evil Queen Yoo and YH knows that YH is a weakness to WS and thrr=ey are going to use her to threaten him, I'm hoping she's still not going to be the happy go luck people pleaser as she has been.. It's no use trying to change these people. And just accept what era she's in and wake up to the life of the palace..

But in the background those 3 (13th, 14th & CP), do their best to be by her side. Yes they aren'aren't ight next to her, may it be fear before the king or whatever. They still kneel down (CP can't lower himself, due to his status, but still does his best to show support) & stay close.

@itzibitzispider  That was the veauty in that scene each prince had a reason to kneel with her, Even the CP, Hs has effected there life in a positive way.. I thought WW should have been out there kneeling with the others the king wouldn't have punished them without punishing the CP.. But him just being there and kneeling what have made her feel better just him being there would have said a lot but he couldn't even do that much for the person he claims he loves..

 I re-watched MLSH starts from episode 2 .....I m enjoying watching this drama especially the scenes between WS and HS. I noticed that WS starts eyeing HS and treating her differently because HS is the only one who cares about him in the moment his mother rejected him in episode 4. He finds this girl is totally different from others who is not scare about him but cares about him. That's why he starts to accept and acknowledge her as his  CHINGU. 

The more she interacts with him, he finds and feels that he is alive when she is around, no longer loneliness and cold blooded person. He gets warm because of HS. He develops a kind of unknown feeling towards HS, he doesn't even know how to describe and unsure about the feeling. I think could be HS makes his heart pounding....hehehe ...

All his feeling gets firmed up after the make up scene. He is 100000000% sure about his unknown feeling. That's so called LOVE. Yes, he loves her more than he knows. HS helps him to understand the meaning of living, caring and happiness that he could not experience it when he was a child. He is happy staying with his brothers and play and mixed around with them. ....I LOVE TO WS in happy life with HS.

Hai all..  I am newbie in soompi world. All this time i only watch k-drama. But after i met SHR,  it's like this drama has been consuming all my brain cells! I keep checking the latest news,  bts,  gifs, marathon of C-BBJX,  even following LJK instagram  and that's why i stranded here. I just want to say thank you for all your funny comments,  live recap,  analysis,  discussion, etc,  because they really made my days! 

Anyway,  i just found out this fun fact about LJK and KHN. LJK was once offered a lead role in drama angel eyes. But he didn't take it (dunno why). Can you imagine if LJK took the role? He will be the older version of KHN!!

This drama should have at least 25 episodes if not 30 episodes to bring and tell viewers in details each and everything in details in this drama. The importance things to have more romance between WS and HS in order to satisfy viewers.....

Agree with most of what u said, except in running man I think the cast jokes most of the time and they were just teasing him. He is a competitive person n got upset for losing. Haha. 

I find IU amazing becos everyone was comfortable with her. 

It's good that they like and and are comfortable with each other. I dun ship them in real life becos Ithere are too many variables in the environment and they could be both attached.

That said I still enjoyed all the bts. It's been a long while since I enjoy a drama so wholeheartedly. The fact that it is a remake but still manage to introduce new elements to keep viewers in suspense is incredible.

Even knowing it's poison he takes additional cups so as protect Hae Soo

Even when Wang So knows it's futile he went to ask the king to spare Hae Soo.

Even though he was still barely alive he went to visit Hae Soo because he couldn't bear to know she's all alone.

Even though begging pardon for Lady Oh to be released was gonna be futile, he stood there in the rain and provided shelter for Hae Soo, not only lending her strength but understanding she needs it.
