I have the dreaded Youtube algorithm to thank for my discovery of School 2017 - Up until that point, I had watched exactly 1 Korean Movie - (Man From Nowhere) - 0 kdrama's, and only listened to a select few kpop songs I'm feeling guilty to admit was only due to a tragedy.  The kpop videos most likely led to the drama clips, and I was hooked soon thereafter

 

School 2017 is a solid fun drama, and among the more believable school drama's I've watched - the 2 FL's ended up together again in last years Business Proposal

When I go for school dramas (school 2013, Class of Lies) I usually go for the ones which have least amount of romance between the students, like for me it is important for the plot to be something other than the romance happening. In fact I wouldn't even care about high school love happening

I have Insta's algorithm to thank for constantly bringing in the reels of "Our Beloved Summer" and "Business Proposal", since I got interested in them after some of them, and checked the reviews on them. I don't think I would have done, at least not that soon if I wouldn't see some of those reels online.

Honestly the only drama that I liked her in. Her other dramas have been less than stellar for me - much because of her acting.

On a romance scale of 0-10 its a solid 5 I'd say

 

Though romance is always there for the leads and supporting characters but its not the focus - the best way to compare it would be the "romance" we see in "Sell Your Haunted House".  You know early on that they are developing feelings for each other, and that sometimes manifests itself in the decisions they make, but we never even got an "I love you"

 

In School 2017, it starts the same way, there is clearly an attraction that at first they try to ignore but by the end there is a confession or 2 ... but its at the very end.

 

The main plot focuses on school injustice, and administrative corruption in the school system which is being called out and exposed by a mysterious student "X".  A hoodie wearing Robin Hood type character.  You learn early on who "X" is, and the rest of the drama involves the battle of trying to catch X, and those that support him.

 

I liked it because it wasn't an adult drama in a High School setting - There are villains, but they're not rule the world type villains, just the high school level type you'd expect.

 

You have normal HS bullies, testing pressures, class ranking injustice, ridiculous gossiping, a shared dark episode in 2 characters backstory, a leaked diary bit of drama, a fun light hearted romance between secondary characters (a well like teacher that defends the students, and the school police woman who is trying to reign in the chaos) plus some amusing sidekicks, a power couple with issues, and so on

 

It also has a great aegyo scene at the very end

Hmmmm…. It’s ok. I like the top and the color. But I’m not crazy about the monochrome, and those boots are so bizarre! It’s like he went as Jimin on steroids.

Chingu, we are seeing late 90s - early 2000s making a comeback in fashion. Hobi's outfit is definitely one of those we could have seen on a guy back then. I find it kinda cool.

 

But the other outfit needs to be burned.

Black of course - cannot argue with a classic ... I'd lose the scarf though. While it is part of the outfit, I have never done accessories just to accessorize - if its actually cold/needed then yes, make it styling

 

Pink, no.  Sadly I'm too old now to be able to get away with it

 

White No. Not that I don't like it, white is simply too unforgiving in all but the most sterile circumstances ( I will take the black PJ's though )

I like the black, too. Especially in that classical setting of the photo. And after seeing Jimin and Hobi's boots, I like that in this case the shoes are unassuming and they blend in.
