Nice to see SYJ's agency post a bts of her cf.  And even include English captions.  But they made another spelling error after correcting the first one!  Appreciate their efforts but hope they can check their work more carefully before sending it out to the world.

SYJ always looks serious and professional during her work and checks the monitor carefully.  :)

Netflix Korea did a post on Son Ye Jin's filmography! The ones you can also watch on Netflix Korea. I thought the post was very sweet. Son Ye Jin over the years :)

I was interested in what other Yejin films are on Netflix Korea. I only get CLOY and SITR normally. But with VPN set to Korea there is: CLOY, SITR, Tower, Negotiation, AMTR, Pirates, Be With You, White Night, The Classic, My Wife Got Married, The Truth Beneath, Blood & Ties, Spellbound and Personal Taste. Unfortunately the others don't have English subs, which makes sense why they don't show them to other zones.

@SonBenderI am not sure.. it looks like base on their post it is a lot of her projects which I am not surprised. Where I am from we mainly have Crash Landing On You and Something in The Rain on Netflix. Thanks to viki and other streaming sites you can watch most of her projects. There is also Youtube Movies - how I bought/rent to watch The Last Princess.

Valentino updated their account to mention some who watched virtually and they put Son Ye Jin's picture first! Yejin has also been getting lots of love from Valentino lately on their accounts/instagram story too.

Just watched White Night.  Whoa that was a dark movie.  Just as dark or maybe even darker than What Lies Beneath.  Purposely went into it not knowing anything about it.  Just seem to recall SYJ saying it was one of the more difficult characters she'd played, so I was intrigued.  Now I can understand why she said that.  A challenging character in a challenging script that didn't allow her to show a lot.

White Night must have been a difficult role for Yejin. I had to watch it twice to figure out all the characters. And I still don't feel like I have a 100% understanding of the details. I heard a Korean say that the English subs sometimes do not capture the subtle nuances of a conversation. It certainly is a dark movie, although I thought Blood and Ties and The Truth Beneath were easier to follow in that genre.

I came across an old interview of SYJ's where I think she said WN was difficult for her because the character was so awful and it wasn't one where she could really act a lot with her facial expressions.  If anyone has more interviews from SYJ on WN I would be interested to read.  I like reading about SYJ's thoughts on a piece of work after I've watched it.

I'm sure they don't.  Even for CLOY.  It's hard for some nuance/cultural context not to be lost in translation.

E.g. I watched that video where two Korean fans gave their reaction on Binjin's dating reveal and they commented on the wording of SYJ's IG post on that subject. As hard as they tried to explain the significance of her choice of word, it was still hard for me to completely grasp the meaning or the equivalent in my own languages.

There's a wordy review of WN which compares it to the Japanese drama original, and apparently there was also a Japanese film version as well, if you want more details on the plot and characters.  If they are available with subtitles, I would be interested to check them out sometime.

But I'm in the mood for something lighter these days.  CLOY is my comfort food when I want something light.  What other works of SYJ do you recommend if I want something light and funny?  What is her most comedic role? I thought she had great comedic chops as Seri in CLOY so I would love to see her do a full on comedic role sometime.

There’s always Personal Taste, which a lot of fans seem to love, but I personally detest it.

It’s plain bad writing, and the homophobic gay storyline obviously didn’t age well from 2010.

I can appreciate a Pygmalion/My Fair Lady stories (modern ones like 10 Things I Hate About You, She’s All That, The Devil Wears Prada, etc. come to mind, and obviously they each have their own problems but I think those movies have still held up well). But Personal Taste just had no nuance to it. And Episode 1 is already a huge faceplant for me - I had a hard time believing a woman would NOT know that not only his long-time boyfriend is cheating on her, but was actually already making plans to marry her best friend and roommate!!! So ridiculous!

But I still plowed through the end because I like SYJ. I like her enough that I will watch her in bad projects. LOL!

There’s also The Art of Seduction, which is so-so. She fares much better in MWGM, although it’s not a straight-up funny, haha role, if that’s what you’re looking for.

CLOY is her best comedic performance to date, and that says something considering there are really dark elements to the series.

I agree that Art of Seduction and MWGM probably have the most light-hearted moments. I disliked Personal Taste, although that in itself is personal taste. Ha! Mostly I disliked that Yejin's character started off dumb and then kept getting dumber as the drama progressed. Everyone treats her like garbage--and then she turns around and trusts them???

CLOY is well-written, so the funny parts--of which there are many--are truly funny. But it also has its share of violence, crime and heartache.
