okay chingus, another question -- what is this sport "nordic combined" -- would associate such a name with a geography and not a sport... ...

the history of Nordic combined

The first major competition was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen ski jump. King Olav V of Norway was an able jumper and competed in the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in the 1920s. It was in the 1924 Winter Olympics and has been on the program ever since. Until the 1950s, the cross-country race was held first, followed by the ski jumping. This was reversed as the difference in the cross-country race tended to be too big to overcome in ski jumping. The sport has been dominated by the Norwegians, supported by the Finns. It was not until 1960 that the Nordic grip on this discipline was broken when West GermanGeorg Thoma won the gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics.

 

 

About the name I honestly do not know. I think bc they had first big competition in Nordic so they named it Nordic. 
and definitely not only for nordic people.

Pairs - the level of trust and the amount of practice to create that beautiful symmetry of movements.

@partyon Downhill skiing, sometimes I attempt to do Alpine skiing;) I like Freestyle and Freeride but just to watch  I will never ever try to accomplish what they do;)

So chingus, we have a clear winner here. Figure Skating seems to be everyone's favourite Winter Olympic Sporting event with a whooping 27 votes!

 

Next we have Ski Jumping and Snowboard at the Second spot with 13 votes. 

 

And we have Alpine Skiing, Curling and Speed Skating claiming the much covted Third spot with 12 votes each. This was a very close call between the sporting events claiming the Second and the Third Spot. 

 

Regardless of the votes, we will surely be cheering for the athletes and celebrate their hardwork, their perseverance and their spirit.
