DonnaMae
From what I gather the writer doesn't want a decided ending and to quote a soompi article: 'Shin Won Ho explained why “Hospital Playlist” is planned to have multiple seasons. He said, “I wanted to create a drama that didn’t initially have a decided ending or an ending at all. However, the viewers have to give us love for there to be another season. Holding meetings and discussions while leaving the finale open-ended allowed for a lot of new ideas and directions.”' In view of this I expect that the remaining 2 episodes will be a summary of what we have seen so far. I have a hunch that Junwan will be singing his own version of 'Aloha.' Junwan: Ep.3 "I made a lot of girls cry with this song." looking at SongHwa, SongHwa looking down, with a pensive expression. Jeungwon: 'Right, in Hawaii' ... SH was alarmed 'Hawaii?' ... her reaction to Jeungwon after was like: "when you feel like your bf is hiding something from you and you're bugging his friend to squeal" then in the karaoke room, when Aloha came on the screen SH asks Junwan with a smile 'Did you pick this song?' As if she's expecting Junwan to sing and excited about it. So yeah, I'm looking forward to hear Junwan sing too
maggiee
After watching Ikjun and Songhwa scene, I want a scene where Uju meets his uncles and aunt. I mean, they regularly visit him, so why not have a birthday party or anything else and get together. Or maybe they can get lunch or dinner together in the weekend. I am an Ujuholic, I know 6

Popular Post __jesse
Re: Easter Eggs I feel the need to defend Shin pd and LWJ writer-nim. The duo have been working together exclusively, so they like to add references to their past works. And it's fun for fans to watch too. For example, Ikjun playing with the baseball is a nod to Prison Playbook's Jehyuk. Seokhyung's office mate is very messy, which reminds us of Trash oppa from Reply 1994. It’s true that they like to hide Easter eggs, which is one reason why it’s so fun to rewatch and re-rewatch their dramas. But having said that, not every prop is an Easter egg. There should be a logical and coherent explanation that is consistent with the drama’s plot development. Easter eggs are there to help us glean a deeper understanding of the drama, and not to detract us from the script. Colour theory was a legit thing in the Reply series (female lead = yellow, husband = green, second lead = blue). And the way the coloured dolls were arranged throughout the drama corresponded with how the relationships developed. Spoiler The Colour Theory The “Canon” scene in ep 4 was an important scene because it was the first time the dolls appeared. There were only three dolls, foreshadowing the love triangle between Seokhyung, Songhwa and Ikjun. And the colours of their clothes matched the dolls. Spoiler Songhwa = Purple, Ikjun = Yellow, Seokhyung = Green The choice of music is interesting too. “Canon” means what’s officially in the script, so essentially this love triangle is canon. Both Jeongwon and Junwan’s love interests are outside of OT5, which explains why their dolls are missing. The next time the dolls appeared was in ep 6, when the love triangle was revealed. Seokhyung brought Songhwa to a cafe with green sofa seats and purple cushions. He’s wearing green, she’s in purple. When she rejected him, they were separated by two yellow drinks (Ikjun). Spoiler In ep 6, the purple doll (Songhwa) was in the middle. In ep 9, the yellow doll (Ikjun) was in the middle, which meant that Ikjun had become closer to Songhwa. Ikjun = Yellow Both Ikjun and Uju are often seen wearing yellow. “Uju” means “universe” in Korean. Uju is Ikjun’s everything; his universe. Spoiler Imagine how Ikjun felt, when he saw Songhwa embracing his universe. Spoiler In R88, baduk (often likened to the universe) represented Taekkie’s everything. And Deoksun innocently placed her stone at the centre of his universe. Seokhyung = Green Seokhyung’s birthday surprise consisted of a green bottle of Champagne and a birthday cake on a green box. When his mom found out about the adultery, she leaned against a green pillar, which meant that she only had Seokhyung left to lean on. Spoiler Interestingly, Minha is always wearing green. The day she decided to confess to Seokhyung, she even wore green eyeshadow. Spoiler Notice the colours of the pompoms on his birthday hat: purple, green, yellow, red and blue. I’m not sure if red and blue represent Jeongwon and Junwan, but they do have another meaning which I’ll explain shortly. Spoiler This scene was also a reference to Taek's birthday party in Reply 1988. Like Seokhyung, Taekkie was also green. Notice both of them have bowl cuts? From the Reply series to Prison Playbook, all the male lead actors have bowl cuts. I think this is Shin pd's way of telling us that all the guys in OT5 are lead actors, and they all have their own lovelines waiting for them. Red & Blue = Marriage Spoiler Red and blue are the primary colours used in Korean weddings. "According to a Korean fairy tale, there was an old man with long hair and beard named Wolha, who mated a man and a woman by tying a blue thread to him and a red thread to her, thus making them a couple. The story explains why blue and red threads are important in the traditional Korean wedding ceremony." (Source: Korea Herald) Spoiler When Junwan confessed, there were red and blue stools at the back, and a bus with red and blue stripes drove past. Spoiler When Ikjun and Songhwa were eating sujebi, there were red and blue stools behind them too. And on the menu board, there was janchi guksu, which is banquet noodles, typically eaten during weddings. This implies that both Junwan-Iksun and Ikjun-Songhwa are headed for marriage. I hope this is not too complicated or confusing. There are other instances that reinforced this colour theory, but the post was getting too long. Flowers have meanings in this drama too, which was hinted to us when Jongsu was scanning flowers in Rosa's garden to learn their names. But I'm not sure if I have time to finish the post before the next episode. 21 1 2 3
Sakurafairy
Annyeong chingudeul, old resident here, mian for not diving in the convo for the past episodes. Btw, I thought I have been in love with Ik Jun from episode 1-10 but when Jeong-won sang this part in the latest episode my fangirl heart got confused. Ottokeee. I wanna bring him home. However, I'm still rooting for the winter garden couple. Even the lyrics got me to think twice (mian, lol, delusional here) You are my loved one I will make a silent promise That I will protect you Until your tears run dry In the distant future When we reminisce about this day If we can give each other a kiss In the whole wide world For a very long time Out of all the people I will only love you Bridge In the whole wide world For a very long time Out of all the people I will only love you I am grateful That I met you. 5

nrllee
Chilbongie had a baseball too? So did JungHwan in one scene whilst he was “thinking”. If we’re looking at a spouse hunt, wouldn’t it make more sense to look at the Reply series as references? There was no spouse hunt in Prison Playbook. If you want to look at past references...parcels as well. Happy viewing tonight everyone. I am holding MiDo to account with her comment of “plot twist”. Only S1 scripts had been written when she said that. They are working on S2 scripts now so I am banking on her saying that based on her assessment of S1.
Popular Post LovelyLady
Interview with Shin Hyun Bin (Jang Gyeo wool) for Esquire Korea. https://www.esquirekorea.co.kr/article/46647?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=0 Spoiler Some parts of the interview. The translation can contains inaccuracies (translation app). Waiting and hoping for someone to translate it. Q: Is there another crew you hang out with? A: (laughs) There's no crew, and there are a lot of teams that work together and get along well. Not too long ago, I met with Mi-do (playing Jeon Mi-do, Chae Song-hwa) and Eun-jin (playing Ahn Eun-jin and Choo Min-ha). I also meet the team members I met on Mistress before. Actor Han Ga-in, actor Koo Jae-yi, and actor Choi Hee-seo are all close. Other actors on the "Byunsan" team keep in touch. It was the same in "Beasts that cling to the straw" I think it's possible to keep meeting good teams. Q:Can I expect a romance with Ahn Jung-won (Yoo Yeon-seok) in terms of fun? There are so many comments saying, "I hope the winter garden goes well." It's becoming a hot topic. A: I don't know. We are really curious. The person who gets the script first tells us quickly. We're curious to know and see, but I'm sure those who don't know how curious we are.. Q: I'm curious about the winter garden, but I'm more curious about Chae Song-hwa's past. Mido said she doesn't know either. I think the director knows the salty taste. A: It's the same thing I don't know either. Ik-jun (Cho Jung-seok) and Song-hwa are wondering if they like each other. I thought their relationship was very realistic. If you've had clear and firm feelings for each other in the past, is it possible for you to be friends no matter how much time has passed? Real-life relationships are often ambiguous. Sometimes you wonder if you liked him or not. Sometimes you date someone, but later you realize that you didn't love him that much. Actually, you don't know how you feel. I felt that the subtle emotions in this drama were very realistic. Q: I heard Hyun Bin's interview on the radio. In fact, Shin Hyun Bin's personality seemed to be different from Jang Gyeo wool. Shin Hyunbin is surprisingly easy-going and cool. A: There is definitely a similar side to Gyeo wool's personality. But most of all, I really liked this character. At first glance, she looked blunt, indifferent, and cold, but she turned out to be quite a nice, hardworking, geniune person. There might be some misunderstanding at first, but someone who looks really good over time. I thought she was a character that didn't exist a lot before. 16 11

Popular Post 40somethingahjumma
Just to piggyback on what @ktcjdrama posted, this is another scene from Episode 10 which shows how the Yin and Yang dynamic works for Gyeo-ul and Jeong-won. He's pacing back and forth anxiously for the kid in the room. He's a complete nervous wreck. It's ironic when you consider who is the most experienced doctor in this scene. Both Gyeol-ul and med student are calmly waiting while leaning up against the wall. Then finally he settles down right next to her, standing very close which is why she shifts... following her example. She's a calming presence for him and an example of keeping emotions on an even keel or under wraps. No one can accuse her of being emotionally overwrought. Even Jeong-won has something he can learn from his "apprentice". This short scene sums up so much of the Winter Garden dynamic for me. 20 8

Only S1 scripts had been written when she said that. They are working on S2 scripts now so I am banking on her saying that based on her assessment of S1. You're right to say it could be a reference to Chilbongie or Junghwan too. The pd-writer duo are huge baseball fans. There's a baseball on Jeongwon's crocs too. But it doesn't matter which character or drama were they referring to, because there is no husband hunt. HP is fundamentally different from the Reply series. Because in the Reply series, the scenes in the present had clearly set up that one of the boys eventually became the husband: the question is who? However, in HP, there's no guarantee that Songhwa will end up with one of the boys. She could end up with someone outside the OT5, like Capt. Ahn, or she could even choose to remain single for the rest of her life. Here are a couple more Easter eggs. In ep 8, there was a faint blue arrow pointing from Jeongwon towards Gyeoul, implying that he has feelings for Gyeoul, even tho it's not obvious. When the camera changes angle, there was an arrow pointing from Gyeoul to Jeongwon, implying that she still liked him, even after being rejected. There's also another arrow, a brighter one which pointed upwards, representing Jeongwon's love for God is still strong. Compare this with the scene when Jeongwon saw Gyeoul exiting the car in the next ep. You'd notice that all the arrows pointing upwards disappeared when he became jealous. There was a heart in the background when Songhwa and Ikjun were together alone. After Seokhyung appeared, the heart is blocked. This again illustrates their love triangle. The Band I'm not sure if anyone here has discussed the OT5's positions in the band. According to Shin pd, their positions in the band were decided before casting began. Here are my thoughts on that. Ikjun is lead singer & first guitarist, while Songhwa is bassist, so that no matter who's taking centerstage, they're always standing next to each other. Seokhyung plays the keyboard, standing behind them, forming the figurative love triangle. And the keyboard forms a physical barrier between him and Songhwa. Jeongwon plays the drums, which is the only instrument that makes beats, not melody. That possibly reflects his disinterest in love and lack of romantic experience. Hence, ep 10 was a critical turning point for him when he started singing, using his own vocal cords to make melody. 16 3 2 18
nrllee
Re : Band positions. Bass and drums are the rhythm section (to a certain extent the rhythm guitar and the keys). Bass and drums have to be tight in a band. They are not showy but it’s a well known fact in band circles. Popular Post ryanallright
It is Thursday, let me analyse this forum based on my observation for the past days while you guys provided me with many informations. There are huge discussion on four characters and their relationship. Based on the reaction on individual post, it is clear who are in the majority. Of course, the majority could also be divided into their respective groups and reaction are not conclusive. The minority had defended although I feel it is forced as my mind is bias at this moment, can't blame me for that. Of course, there might be some silent readers who have not give us their point of view, so we cannot leave them out. 4 hours ago, nrllee said: Chilbongie had a baseball too? Well this baseball scene could be a tribute to Reply rather than an easter egg but of course we can interpret how we liked it to be. Furthermore, majority of the supporting casts were named after real baseball players who are playing in the Korean Baseball League. As for the band position, your interpretation of the bass and drum is interesting yet feel forced with this defense. Regards to Mido's mention of plot twist, could you point out which interview or when? I believe it is earlier interview since her latest interviews with the three fashion magazine has no mention of plot twist. @__jesse reference to her , she mentioned not every prop is easter egg, don't let props detract us from watching the drama as it flows. But hey majority of us seem distracted and might have over-analyse. LMAO Hey these people also need our attention And I present to you guys a new couple. Cantabile
Reading all theories here always amuse me, because seeing how much all the efforts to prove your ships I even didn't notice those little details when watching this drama I think this is indeed the charm of Lee-Shin duo, even if you try to not compare HP with their previous works (a.k.a Reply series) but in the end you are still searching the clues because this duo are so meticulous in their works. Anyway, keep the good works, guys (and please stay civil). Love some theories here that give me more insightful views in understanding the characters in this drama PS: It's Thursday!
