Hi there, I can't help myself anymore. I need to post something because liking CLOY is already giving me headache haha.

 

I noticed that Seri is more expressive of her feelings than RJH since the latter's love language is "service" like cooking for her, buying everything she wants like a young and handsome sugar daddy, making coffee from scratch, protecting her...

 

Those are noble deeds from a man but I still feel really bad for Seri because she's been putting her heart on her sleeves a lot and all those times, all she got was outright rejection. Fiance or not, it stings. She can only have so many rejections in her life.

 

After the candle scene when she thought she was really special, he flat out told Seri that he has A WOMAN--- that's gotta hurt.

When Seri asked him to take a picture with him--- outright rejection. Ouch.

When Seri asked for a hug instead of a handshake--- outright rejection. Damn it.

These actions hurt Seri more than a slap in the face or a punch in the gut, but she took it like a woman. Jung Hyuk, you idiot. 

 

I do not feel as bad for the fiance because RJH never showed her any romantic gesture at all. He had been true to form all throughout their dealings, respectful and professional but never affectionate. No harm, no foul.

 

RJH may not be aware of it but he's already being unfair to Seri. He knows he has a fiance but he still keeps on doing things that would make any woman fall head over heels in love with a man. He can't argue that it is only natural to him because he doesn't even do those things to his own fiance. Seri has grown so fond of him, his actions are already borderline brutal.

 

Yes, he can't help it. That's what makes it self-serving and vicious. Jung Hyuk, you selfish prick. Your future love confession to Seri better be epic. Waaay better than Song Hye Kyo's confession in Descendants of the Sun or else.

SIDE NOTE: Since it's more possible for a South Korean to end up with an alien or a mermaid than (heaven forbid) a North Korean, I would like this drama to bite the bullet and just let Seri stay in North Korea, marry RJH where she is ironically loved and treated like an equal. Seri is so much safer living in a communist country than in a house full of her family members.

 

Seri is a great negotiator and all-around charmer. Maybe she can build a mall that would be a hundred times more hip and cosmopolitan. Imagine the riot that Capt. Ri has to face on a daily basis for his wife's antics (clueless, exasperated expression and all). My heart flutters with glee just thinking about it. We all know he would do everything for her, even if it's against his will haha.

 

Seri would be much happier bickering with Pyo, drinking beer with the ahjumas and waking up to RJH's cooking every morning. I can't imagine her living a life without those people, I swear. She's exactly where she needs to be--- in NK.

From what I understand last night's "special" was a replay of episode 2. So it's nothing new. I hope tonight's special will already have some value added to it.

 

Btw, I'm curious. Has there been a case before that a Korean TV show failed to deliver an episode bec they, uhhh... didn't finish the episode?

Great insights! While I was watching, I might’ve cursed RJH here and there because of his “special” treatments. Although I agree that RJH is a true gentleman, as I said on my previous posts, I would prefer RJH to come clean about his feeling. Otherwise, he is being unfair to both SR and SD. One may argue that he was not aware of his actions, however SR has told him that such actions could make her flustered. I hope he and SD could find a middle ground before he decides to pursue a relationship with SR. I really don’t want to waste time and energy to watch a love triangle which is never meant to be the outcome of this drama.

i know there was an incident where they were rushing A Korean Odyssey and the CG was very poorly edited they broadcasted the episode and was flamed by audience, then they temporarily stopped for an episode or two (can’t recall too clearly)..

 

and of cos, being netflix drama.. i think Arthdal Chronicles season 1 also break into 6-6-6 where the last 6 ep took a break for filming before showing

So "brother-in-law" is Son Ye Jin's recruit to do a cameo? I haven't seen this drama, but it's nice to know that friends of CLOY actors are supportive of the show. Hyun Bin already has a friend Park Sung-woong appear as well. And the actor who played Se Ri's ex-boyfriend is I think the director's recruit. I hope there'll be more cameos.

The director Lee Jung Hyo did this for Life on Mars as well (I love that drama! Park Sung Woong and Jung Kyung Ho were in it too which kinda explains why they both camoed (plus Park Sung Woong was also in The Swindlers with Hyun Bin). Just for info, the Director is now being badly bashed by Knetz and C drama fans. There’s info that the cast have shooting round the clock; they were shooting up till 4am this morning. Son Yejin’s Chinese fans are so worried for her. While I am also worried about the seeming bad time management which has caused minor slip-ups in Ep 6 (the motorbike scene was obviously edited by two different teams which explains the Hyeok-ie’s hair disjunct), I actually have faith in this Director because I really like his past works - Life on Mars and Romance is a Bonus Book. 
 

And from a vlog/post by someone in the production team a few days ago, it looked like they only received the scripts for Eps 9 and 10 at time of posts. So yes, they are running on a very tight schedule.
 

And aawww...comrades! Please don’t scold my Hyeok-ie. The reason why he refused to give SeRi a hug and a momento photograph of them is because he loves SeRi too much! From his perspective, she’s going home to SK; there’s no hope for them to be together anyway, so his love for her compels him to let her go and to forget about him (by the first snow at restaurant time he already knew she likes him). He’s resolved to suffer in silence alone with a photograph of her as a momento for himself only. Hahaha..am just kidding. And yes, let’s take out the beers and pollack and have a da maek and chat about SeRi’s pain 

 

By the way, I was watching with my husband (my rewatch but his first watch) and he remarked that Seo Dan’s mother must have paid for Jeong Hyeok’s studies in Switzerland and in exchange Jeong Hyeok’s parents gave their son in marriage to her daughter. If that is the case, I think Jeong Hyeok’s father must have been an upright man. Despite being the number 1 in the military, he has not taken bribes and so, did not have money to send him to Switzerland for his music studies. And Jeong Hyeok’s brother must have crossed paths with Cheol Gang regarding his shady operations. Maybe Jeong Hyeok’s father will do something about Cheol Gang once he knows what he’s done to his son.

An interesting insight, it explains why JH’s parents are submissive towards SD’s mom. Plus there is a scene where SD’s mom said that the engagement has money involved. Now, I wonder whether JH knows about such arrangement, if this is the case.

RJH’s bro died 7yrs ago.. RJH’s application to the academic year was 2007-2008..

but it seems like, he didn’t complete the enrolment?  and if the engagement was before RJH’s bro passed away.. why wasn’t the marriage on the older bro first? i thought being a conservative country the eldest son has to be married first before the next sibling in line..

I have been enjoying my time to read all 81 pages of this thread, everything is interesting. and for the sake of giving all of us some distractions, I also want to give some of my thoughts about this drama.

I just realized that CLOY's writer is the same one who write YWCFTS and TLOTBS. and bamm! suddenly I feel so familiar and maybe can find a silver lining through it. for some time instead of waiting and re-watch all 6 eps, I re-watch YWCFTS and TLOTBS. and found these:

 

first, RJH = DMJ and HJJ in a way. a gentleman. a very tsundere type for sure. a smart one. a good cook. a keeper. a white-liar specialist. the one who have a biggest secret and painful past. a man who never interested to a woman before. and also a very innocent-kinda-stupid baby boy.

 

second, YSR = CSY and SC ofc. they are a beauty. a blunt person. an ecssentric one. can't hold the 'i am fall in love with you' attitude. have a big appetite. have a very special ducklings who love them truly. the one who have a biggest secret and painful past. the target of every antagonists. and also will cry the most.

 

last, RJH-YSR had meet a long time before they meet in NK. it also happened to DMJ-CSY and HJJ-SC. their meeting always have a painful memory, but for sure one of them will remember it clearly all the time before the other one realize it too. their love story is always the 'impossible to have a happy ending' relationship. altho now, RJH-SYR are a total human couple (not alien-human or human-mermaid couple), but the world seems not easy to be defeated for all love story. after all even if you are human, human is divided into some kinds depends on how people see it.

and so my conclusion is (my hope) RJH-YSR will have a happy ending like their predecessor. it must have many obstacles and maybe an intermission before they reach it. but I believe they will be one in the end *cross finger*.

Yes, usually skip the scenes with the fiance and her family because they make RJH look so un-sexy. His expressions tell me he just wants to keel over and die like a dried pollack whenever he's with them.

 

RJH simply vibrates whenever he is with Seri and there's a part of me that wants him to break away from his filial and honorable mold. It's not as if he hasn't done it already. I mean he let an SK woman sleep in his bed, use his utensils, eat his provisions, wear HIS white button down shirt on her first night. That kind of suggestive intimacy is already a crime in itself.

 

He didn't turn her over to the authorities. All his actions towards Seri from that point forward is an act of treason to his country and he's not even scared. The only real fear he has is that Seri might get caught and he has to hurt some of his comrades to protect her.

 

Jung Hyuk, filial and honorable as he appears, is actually more loyal to his heart than his government and the silly guy doesn't even realize it yet haha. After his crazy antics versus the truck of doom to keep her safe, he's capable of doing just about anything.

 

He is so whipped and so smitten that I can imagine him dragging Seri into a room full of his fiance's family, his parents and the creme dela creme of NK society to declare his irrevocable love for her. He need not break any mold because that is the real him. He is a very passionate and bullheaded man when he's in love.
