@colloquie, here is a translation of PHI's interview clip.

Q: In Wise Prison Life, other than Captain Yoo, which other character did you most want to take on as a role?

PHI: Hmm, this is difficult. Let’s see. Everyone’s acting was so good, so how dare I… (me: meaning how dare he even aspire to act a different role - awww, sweet and humble) Well, a character that I would have wanted to try… mm…Haerong? Since he and I had many scenes where we had to tussle and bicker, he seemed like a really fun character.  And, with Kyu Hyung hyung, we were able to match really well. Hyung was so full of ideas that it was really a lot of fun on the shooting set. He prepared a lot for it, but he also came up with a lot of ideas (while we were shooting) as well. So, while we were shooting, we were able to have a lot of fun.

@kaftanbatikcantik, I think this is the clip that you wanted translated.

(HY tries to find someone to snuggle up to)

HY: Oh, cold.

(Later, as Paeng collects HY from his cell for his prison visit)
Paeng: Han Yang, this is your last prison visit. Now, there’s only 3 days left?
HY: Yes, I have 3 days left.
Paeng: You must be so happy.
HY: (patting Paeng’s bum) I’ll come visit frequently, so don’t cause trouble while you’re here. You’re the one I worry about the most here. You’re the one most like a bomb waiting to blow.

Dolmani: Hyung-nim, that person, is he a crazy person?
Jae Hyuk: No. He’s a person who likes to become cosy with everyone.
Dolmani: Oh.

Paeng: Han Yang visit cancelled. For insulting a guard, solitary confinement 12 days.
HY: (blocking Paeng's mouth with his hands) Say it quietly, or your words will become true.
Paeng: It’s already become true. You bastard, see if you can get out, you bastard.
(HY tries to block Paeng’s mouth again but is slapped away.)
Paeng: You, I will delay your release for 180 days.
HY: 180?! Careful of your words. Careful of your words, you bastard.
Paeng: You bastard? You bastard, you just really…
HY: Aigoo! Aigoo! Aigoo! Aigoo! My arm is broken! Aigoo! Aigoo! Aigoo! Neighborhood people, look at me! Lt. Paeng is beating me up! Aigoo!

Yoo: He’s putting on such a total show. Putting on a show.

Song: Why aren’t you coming yet? Song Ji Won is still waiting. (HY jumps up) Cut!

ye..thank u so much stroppyse

The fact that Han-Yang became addicted again...it leaves a bitter aftertaste and I hate it and love it at the same time.

What Shin-PD wanted to achieve with this storyline was probably a warning as in 'Don't even get involved with drugs, it's too hard to break out from this addiction'.

We saw Han-Yang's determination, the withdrawal symptoms he had to endure and the ostracization and yet...during one moment when you feel very weak the addiction will grab you again.

Which is why the message is all the more powerful...to see such a determined person fall into that cycle again. Imagine how much will power is required to rehabilitate.

Which is why @stroppyse I hope that you can move on sometime. I got jungpaled really hard and moved on as well.

Shin PD wanted to tell a story of hope but also of real life. In 1988, he told the consequences of not acting up on your feelings and as soon as I could accept this interpretation, I could luckily move on

be honest did you move on after the news of hyeri and jungpal dating in real life came out?:tongue:

On HY.. you said it aptly.. even cigarettes, alcohol, porn.. yes drugs is the worst..

because those are not inconvenient withdrawal symptoms.. but with very legit physical manifestations! ... i like the ening.. it turns this drama into something more meaningful than a happy ending for all scripted drama for a drama

Viewership ratings for final episode is 11.195%, peak at 13.2%(12.299% for metropolitan, peak at 15%). Prison Playbook is now the 4th highest rated tvN drama, behind Goblin, Reply 1988 and Signal.

wait for hwayugi to break records.. me thinking.. it may beat 1988.. goblin by ep 4 had broken 8%.. hwayugi is at 6-7%

So I decided to watch episode 15 without subs, and I'm still surprised. More like, disappointed and bitter, but it was definitely surprising. After watching Hanyang suffered in so many episodes and seeing his determination to get back with Jiwon, I thought he'd really quit. I mean, he held on for so long, but 2 minutes outside prison and he was already tempted. However, I understand that quitting drugs isn't something easy, it's very difficult. But I wish he followed Joonho's advice and went straight to rehab after being released so that he wouldn't have a chance to get tempted before he becomes actually clean.

One thing I don't understand though, maybe because I watched it without subs: why was his hippie friend there? It felt like someone purposely sent him there.

Btw, I really don't like that restaurant by the prison. It seems like the convicts all give it some meaning when they're inside the prison, but they all just want to get away as fast as possible from the prison once released, so don't really pay any mind to it when released nor do they go to it. I was thinking of Jean Valjean saying that as soon as he's released, he wants to go have a bowl of soup at that restaurant, but getting in a taxi instead to get away. And, now HY who asks JW and his father to meet him there, but being disappointed because they weren't outside the gates, and not even making it to the restaurant where JW and his family are waiting for him.

Still sad and bitter over HY. I hope episode 15 wasn't HY's last episode.

I just realized that Jean Valjean ended up not going to that restaurant. I honestly thought he got into a taxi to go there, but then you made me realize that the restaurant is so close that you don't need a taxi to go there. You pointed out an interesting point.

I'll watch the last episode tonight, but I'm seriously bitter about HY.

Jung Hae In And “Prison Playbook” PD Share Their Thoughts On The Finale

As tvN’s “Prison Playbook” came to an end on January 18, Jung Hae In and several other cast members talked about their experience during filming and shared their thoughts on what the drama meant to them.

In a statement released through FNC Entertainment, Jung Hae In remarked, “‘Prison Playbook’ was a new challenge and the greatest of joys [for me]. I gained wisdom and life lessons while filming the drama.”

The actor also expressed his immense gratitude for everyone involved with the drama, saying, “I want to give my love and thanks to director Shin Won Ho and the crew for giving me the opportunity to act and also for making the set such a happy place that it was hard for us to hold back our laughter whenever we filmed. I also give my love and thanks to my Cell 2, Room 6 family, who took good care of me even though I was lacking in many ways.

He went on, “I sincerely thank the viewers for enjoying ‘Prison Playbook’ together with us until now. I think it was because of the fans’ enjoyment that I was able to gain the energy I needed to film [the drama]. It was truly a blessing.”

Actress Im Hwa Young also thanked the viewers of the show, expressing her regret that “Prison Playbook” was already over. She commented, “It seems like just yesterday that I was introducing myself as [my character] Kim Jae Hee, and I’m already saying my goodbyes and thanking you for having loved the character.

She added, “I would like it if ‘Prison Playbook’ were a drama that remained forever in viewers’ memory.”

Actor Jung Woong In shared that he had initially been worried about the chemistry between his prison guard character and the various inmates, but that his concerns had turned out to be unnecessary.

He explained, “Because the actors I worked with treated me warmly and made me comfortable, they turned the character of Chief Pang into the warmest character in the world. I want to thank them for that.”

The actor also spoke fondly of the drama in general, saying that he was happy to have had the chance to play a different type of role. He noted, “I think it speaks to the strength of this drama that I was able to play this kind of character, even though I’m known for playing villains.”

Lee Kyu Hyung remarked, “I filmed the drama with a happy and grateful heart, thanks to the fact that ‘Prison Playbook’ received a great deal of love. Thank you so much for giving [the drama] lots of love.”

He went on to promise, “I will return and show you an improved version of myself in another drama. I will always continue to work hard and do my best.”

Finally, Shin Won Ho, the producing director (PD) of “Prison Playbook,” shared his final thoughts on the drama. When asked what message he hoped viewers would take away from the show, he replied, “It makes no sense to say what message I want to convey. I think my mission is to throw a diverse array of stories and different sides of life [at the viewers] to offer them an enjoyable, emotional experience. I think it’s up to the viewers to decide what they want to take away from it.

I'm so curious, so Jae Hyuk ask Joon Ho to fake it pervent account as look like Jae Hyuk send the money to his account right ?

I think Jae Hyuk is not purposely to not mention Joon Ho's name, That time Joon Ho think that Jae Hyuk still does'nt know about his dating. So when Jae Hyuk not mention his name, i see Joon Ho smirk when Jae Hyuk told he's sorry and use his opportunity  to told Jae Hyuk even though actually Jae Hyuk already know that.

Yes, Jae Hyuk faked the pervert's personal account to make it look as if the money had transferred in.

Thinking about it, Jae Hyuk probably doesn't have a lot of money now. He hasn't been getting paid his salary from the ball club once he went to prison. And, the trial process itself was probably very expensive, taking a lot of his money.  He probably still has his car and home, but that's not the same as having hundreds of thousands of dollars to give to an extortionist, even if Jae Hyuk had wanted to give him the money to try to make the pervert go away.

Yeah , you're right. But who knows, if he's getting expensive contract while he was active as baseball player from his club. So actually he's really have a lot of money. Because he's paying Jailbird mothers surgery, donates his money to prison for saving guy from woodshop, donates baseball equipment to the school and he's okay if don't get contract money from club. I bet he still have alot of money. lol :D:D

I don't really know how much athlete get paid once they got contract with club or anything, but from what i see most of athlete is have glamour life, have sport car, using branded clothes, etc :D:D

Are the cast doing farewall party like others drama? Hmmmm they don't do press conference, they don't do farewell party as well? I think if they promoting about this drama, the viewers will more than now. They have quite alot of viewers. Because they don't really do promotion so people don't really know about this drama.  :D

Are people still reading this thread? I was thinking of translating the remaining clips from the last episode, but not sure if anyone will be around to read them still, or whether I would just be spamming the thread. :)

Obviously or else I wouldn't reply to you :) but don't stress yourself over doing those translations. Do them if you want to. We are grateful to you either way :*

Yes, still reading, still checking for new posts.. but don't stress over translating the clips. =)

For me, the saddest part of this series is us understanding where every character comes from. Sure, we hoped for happy ending for all of them. When we were presented with Hanyang's tragedy we were bitter.. but we understood. We understood that things like that happen in real life. It's sad and frustrating but we bitterly accepted it deep down inside because we all knew  that mess like that happens everywhere. And that's painful.

But like what Shin PD said, this show brings hope. We should also see Hanyang's story with hope.
