But in the end, he was still essentially talking about the "one that got away." :)

LOL its remind me katy perry song - the one that got away  i love that song!

Btw, i change our first page with pink color font. I love pink color, But im not pinky girl. Hahah..

@YourHighness . i think the way rin treat san, more close with rin want to cage her. LOL

talking about wonsan, i think the whole story is meant to be wonsan love story, even in won voiceover he only talk about "his woman" and "his friend". No jealousy toward his woman, won only told us about his friend deceive him. His narration clear enough to explain the whole story.

Won narration:

Now that i look back many years later, this day was when it all began. My friend i trusted more than my self, began to decieve me. And between my love and me, appeared a chasm neither could cross. They were the only friend i had and the only love i had. Now i look back many years later. On this day, i knew nothing. Because i knew nothing. I smiled.

if you asked me when i fall in love with wonsan? It was happen when i saw yoona siwan interview on viki, before the show airing lol. They looks cute together!

Spoiler

Im planning to stop posting on soompi for a while, and stay as silent lurker.

Just PM me, if u want me to change something on first page.

Or Find me on my twitter page! :D

@deandraluv chingu you pointed out the higlights of the episodes.

You are right about the veil/mask..

If not for Won who was left not knowing about her true identity.. Yes she would hide her face so he wont know.

And the pin..

It was for safekeeping until he chose Dan to be CPrincess..:(

@YourHighness . that's what i like with Won. She treats. San as a partner..his equal.. Unless she needed protection she is as free as a bird. :) in fact Rin is irritating when he turns to be proprietorial and just as you said treats her as if she has no mind of her own:blink:

@Kissy13

Oh you...

Spoiler

Did i just insinuate something about Siwan? lol..

But he is manly in merciless.

Another thing, Won respects San's abilities. He never doubts her or treats her like a little wilting flower. He sends bodyguards as added protection but instructs them to hang back until she needs them. He trusts her to take care of herself first and foremost. I love that in him. Rin though always underestimated her and her abilities. For example when he took the war horse to get San to the dance party. He asked her not to gallop on it. He treated her like he treats Dan.

One more thing about our Won. He gives freedom to San to do whatever she wants. She wants to drink, she can. She wants to dance, she can. She wants something from him. He will grant her anything. Rin thought always tried to reign her freedom. Don't drink that. Don't go out. Don't say that. Don't meet him. Don't go there.<_<

Is there still a question on which guy would any sane headstrong girl like San choose?

You know, @Bambiina mentioned this, too.

On 9/29/2017 at 2:15 AM, Bambiina said:

Why it’s Won,

I have always admire the guy that is honest. A guy that is not afraid to tell you he loves you. A guy that is not afraid to go after what he want (in the right manner – not go behind a friend back).

I love the guy that can make me laugh .. that is not like a ruler - that piece of wood or metal - use to draw lines (meaning I don't like guy that is rigid and follow the rule too much).. I like guy that bend the rule a little to enjoy life ..

That’s why it didn’t cross San’s mind to invite Rin with her. TWICE. It’s funny that some people could still delude themselves that Rin was San’s choice. Won was her choice.

Look, we already know that she declined to travel with him because she had a red string attached to Won. She didn’t invite HIM; HE invited himself. Then, have people forgotten about the Maypole Dance? She also didn’t invite Rin then. She had wanted her dance partner to be Won.

In Episode7, she had asked Rin for a favor

San: I have a favor.
Rin: Anything. Just say a word. I’ll do it.
San: For the past seven years, the only thing I learned properly from Master Lee was alcohol. But I still did study under his tutelage, you see. So I know this much at least. I can’t make others suffer for the sake of my comfort. That’s what’s humane. It is that selfless inability to let others suffer that makes one human.

**The English translation is awkward. I think the subber meant “it is that selfless refusal to let others suffer in her place” that makes her one human.  She’s being selfless when she rejects the notion that somebody’s happiness should be put on the line for her.

Rin: You won’t be able to endure it.
San: I know
Rin: Being with someone like him, harboring these feelings, you won’t last a day!
San: That’s why. You should just let me learn the dance today. So that tomorrow I can make a memory. Let me do that.

**Note that. She didn’t ask HIM to dance with her at the Maypole Dance. She also definitely did NOT ask HIM to escort HER to the dance. That’s why she was surprised that he showed up outside her house. Lol. She only asked that he allow her to learn to dance that day, with DAN as their dance teacher, and so she could dance and create memories WITH WON.

Talk about delusional there. Do people still think she intended him to be her partner at the dance?

Also shaking my head at the war horse, @YourHighness . Again this is another display of Rin’s INCOMPETENCE. He had been tasked by Won to bring San to the dance, right? So HE knew beforehand what needed to be done. So why didn’t he hire a palanquin??!! For pete’s sake! He bungled that one, too, didn't he @angelwingssf

To use a comparison here: Maypole Dance = prom = girls dress up in their best attire.

What idiot would pick up a girl in a motorcycle?  Motorcycle = horse = try riding on it in a ballgown.

Roll my eyes. That’s one of the reasons I wouldn’t have dated a guy like Rin. He lacks foresight and anticipation, and it wouldn’t take me long before he’d exasperate me.

Also, I find it hilarious now that some people tried to TWIST it that San was “forced” to accept Won’s hand to dance. (HA! When talking about “forced,” those RinSan people should shut up, really. After their guy’s dirty trick on the bridge, they should be ashamed of themselves.)

This San be forced by Won?

GIF

Read the rest of my post here. :D

The reason she hesitated was because she didn’t know if she was doing the right thing to CREATE her good memories with Won AT THE EXPENSE of Won. Remember: she told Rin that she learned from Teacher Lee that to become truly human, she shouldn’t allow others to suffer in her stead because of pursuit of her happiness. She’s speaking of her survivor’s guilt. She stubbornly went off to look for ginseng/happiness with guards and inadvertently leaving fewer guards to defend her mother from the ambush.  Now, she was double-thinking if it was ethical and KIND of her to make memories of Won knowing that Won would attach himself to her and might not be able to endure her absence afterwards.

We would see in Rin’s flashback what actually transpired when she and Rin talked that night. Her entire focus during THEIR CONVERSATION was Won’s reaction to her disappearance that Rin was internally begging her to notice him, too. ("What about me?!!")

San: Thank you. I did make that request but I only half-believed it. Han Cheon, in case you went to him and told him everything….(She was worried that Rin would tattle and tell Won about her leaving.)
Rin: I couldn’t tell him. (Yes, because telling Won would topple his house of lies.)
San:  He wouldn’t be able to endure it. He doesn’t seem like someone who can hold something back. Right?
Rin: (silently) And me? How do you think I would feel?
San: That person…I’d like him to continue to not know in the future. Go on living without knowing it, and then come to forget me.
Rin: (silently) Try to guess my feelings, too.
San: I suppose I will have to live the rest of my life wearing this veil. He won’t be finding out where I am living and doing what anyway.”
Rin: But I know. I…
Won: What are you doing?

She looked surprised when Rin interrupted her monologue because NOT ONCE did she consider how Rin felt about her departure. She had only been concerned about Won.

This explains too why she had wondered why he was suddenly avoiding her eyes at the dance. Remember: Rin was conversing naturally with her the day before when they were practicing the dance with Dan, and a few hours ago, when they were riding on horseback.  She didn't understand why he suddenly became awkward with her at the dance when previously he had been so at ease in her company.  She didn't understand the change in his behavior because she hadn't realized at that time that HE liked her. She asked him the "favor" to learn to dance because HE was Won's best friend. Who else would she gone to, to ask for help? But she didn't see him as a romantic figure. She friend-zoned him because he was Won's best friend.

Her conversation with Rin that night at the Maypole dance was something like this:

@packmule3 hi i download from dramafire. I also downloaded gif maker:D so its easier.

About Siwan i think i already shared via pm that during the merciless interview he was being teased by his seniors about him calling the pdnim even at home just to discuss his scenes and acting. In short he was being "annoying" and a perfectionist  but it paid off he was invited at an international film festival i think in paris.

He also is a native from Busan and actors or idols coming from Busan has an image of a masculine type of man. Hmmm:rolleyes:

As for the azalea field this is my fave

If she likes Rin she would not do this in front of him in reality a girl teases the one she likes..right? And she loves teasing won.

And this one

There's something about that azalea field that bugs me...  The two reunions. Or was it one reunion? Could both happen at the same time?

Did this happen?

1wshkh.gif

Or this?

1wsiuy.gif

Do you see the difference? The first one definitely took place in the forest. There were trees.

The second one occurred in a totally different terrain. No trees. Those were bushes.

It's not possible that these two events happened at the same time. It wouldn't make sense. Like, what? After meeting each other in the forest, they suddenly separated and moved to the hillside and then re-enacted the whole reunion again. "Sohwa? Where are you?" "Yo-gi!!"

Do you see what's happening here? There was an illusion here, a director's trick.   I believe the second reunion actually took place because it was on the painting. Won had the scene painted because it  was his lovely memory of that short day.

ygH71a4.jpg

But he left it behind because he didn't need it anymore. He was going to find her after he heard the news of her whereabouts. This portrait was a hint for the critical viewers to go back and take a GOOD second look at the scene again because the answer's there.

As always, Won kept his word. He had once told San that the Crown Prince was a man of his word. He wouldn't take back what he had said. And here, we know that HanCheonie fulfilled what he said.

1wshpc.gif

In his voiceover, he said, To have Sohwa, he abandoned everything. He knew it from the moment he saw that smile.

I put it in spoilers because it's sooooo big.

Now, we're waiting for @moraven14 and @mslee's twitter friend to delurk.

English?? Who cares about English? Just share with us your love for WonSan and you'll be fine.

And hahahaha. Let's trade: I want your gifs.

OMG @packmule3 I was a definately a fan of your after reading your detail comment on King Loves thread lol. And you were mentioning me here, I am so touched  >____<

Actually I'm never in soompi forum before, I made the account just for my love for Wonsan and all the Wonsan team, love you <3

First, can I say what I felt after TKIL ended? I was devastated. Like all of my energy and hyper all this months just evaporated unworthy. I was waiting for any Wonsan sweet scene after Rinsan kiss, like a revenge. But there's nothing. And the ending when San and Rin going together, left my Seja alone with tears, it just tear my heart and I want to blame everyone for not giving him a justice for his love. Come on, after all he's doing, he's not got the girl? Not even a kiss?

Omg how can the production team be so cruel. I stay away from any TKIL relation because seeing Won is hurting me. I know it's too much, but that how much I dedicated my heart for Won TT_TT

And I said this a lot to my friend. Thank God she's not bored of me and still hears me mind till now xD

And after that I read KSH1988 (idk her soompi uname, sorry) opnion about the explanation of Won's monologue and start to see it from the bright side. And then again I saw @mslee posting about this Wonsan thread, I go without hesitation, and I found treasure.

I mean real treasure, because the first time I saw was the posting about 'lust and greed' inside Rin. Well that was a good one, because I never realized Wang Father intention when he said that. I just to sad to realize anything at that time lol, sorry.

And there are so many other explanation about Rin's character that I slightly think of ot before but can't find the right reason to explain it. Like why do Rin so insisted to kiss San with aware of Won's presence. I was like "did SJN/PDnim just want to give HJH-Yoona kiss scene, bcs I don't think there's any mean of it. SInce they didn't show what happend after the kiss." And gladly I found the post about Rin doing that because he talk with Dan before and his 'lust and greed' intention, and I think that makes sense. Even I still want my Wonsan to have a kiss scene too, so WonRin have 1:1 lol.

Well, maybe I'm a no help for explaining things. All I can do is ask question lol.

I'm gonna post something after this. I think I should reread all the post to found what I missed first hehe.

Anyway, hello to all Wonsan lovers, you can call me Ai. And feel free to tag me anytime ^^

Welcome home, @seogwangnim!

Thanks again to @bebe1989 for creating this thread. Now people like you can come here and talk about TKL.  I’m sorry that you had to wait long to hear the WonSan POV. It’s not our fault.  You see, every time a few of our brave ladies here, like @angelwingssf, @Bambiina, @moraven14 and @YourHighness .tried to air our side in the open they were shut down by deluded fans and told to “suck it up, buttercup!” by mods. Lol.  A perfect exhibit of this was posted on the first page of this thread.

It’s a blessing in disguise that the old drama thread was shut down because now we can talk here MORE sanely, and apply brains as well, instead of purely “feels,” to discuss the show.

Frankly, I was annoyed with the ending because I knew that illogical people would use that scene of Rin and San walking uphill as a sign that they ended up as a couple. Really. If we were to suspect two people of having a romantic liaison simply because they were walking together, then divorce lawyers would have a field day! This week alone I left my office with six different men. Was I having an affair with all of them? lol. I must just as well say that SongIn and San are honeymooners because he carried a wounded San in his arms.

That’s what I meant by false correlation.

In a way, I shouldn’t have been surprised that people would misconstrue that goodbye scene between San, Rin, and Won. They’ve exaggerated every little bit of eye contact, accidental brushes, and conversation with Rin as meaningful to San from the beginning, anyway.

Take for instance the conversation on the rooftop when Rin mentioned that he heard of the upcoming Queen’s tea party from some palace maids he’d “come to know well.” Fans assumed that she was being jealous here of Rin.

Nope!

I wrote about this earlier in the other thread. I said that she was alluding to the time in Episode 3 when she and Rin’s family housekeeper were joking that third son was NOT into girls. The housekeeper had said, “I don’t even know what he’s looking at or listening to. He’s just living in his own little world.” Silently, San was predicting that if he wasn’t interested in women, then he wouldn’t make a good husband material for her lady’s maid, BiYeong.  She replied to the housekeeper, “Then he must also not care too much about women.” To which the maid concurred, laughingly, “I really wonder if he knows that women even exist on this planet. He probably doesn’t see me as a woman either. It’s a joke, laugh!”

San was poking fun at Rin’s sexuality here, not demonstrating jealousy. But of course Rin wouldn't get that.

If ever she was jealous, it would be of Dan. She sought confirmation from Rin that Dan liked Won. She said, “Lady Dan…seemed like she had her eyes set only on the Crown Prince.”

1wthdp.gif

(lol. She didn't even accept his offer of a helping hand.)

Without a doubt, she was remembering her first encounter at tea time with Dan, AND the time when Lady Dan made some broth for Won after Won fell off his horse during the hunting accident. That time, she had teased her:

Dan: The CP is not a scary person.
San: I’m sure he isn’t. I’m sure he won’t be mean to a lady like yourself. The Crown Prince is also a man—ahhh.
Dan: Why? (San eyes the packed lunch.)
San: By any chance…
Dan: What?
San: Ah!
Dan: What are you thinking?
San: Because the CP hurt himself from a fall, you made this soup from medicinal herbs yourself this early in the morning.  (She claps her hand for a job well done connecting the relationship.)
Dan: Ah.. what?
San: It’s nothing. (But she looks at the packed lunch, and nods her head.)

Her amusement back in Episode 4 of Dan's crush on the stranger CP had turned into concern in Episode 9, now that she knew CP was Won. Look: if she didn’t like Won, she wouldn’t need to bring up the topic of Dan having eyes only on the CP. Why should it matter to her who Dan likes? That was none of her business. Her only concern should have been saving Rin from going to Yuan as a replacement for Dan.

@mslee

Thanks again for the gifs!

Yes, I love this scene, too, when he was walking side by side. It reminds me too of that scene in Episode 12 when Won met her in the forest, too, after she woke up from "dreaming" of him. He too had been walking beside her. Would you mind making a gif of that one, too? Thanks. Just like what @YourHighness . said WonSan walked together. After their initial "power struggle" at the bridge on the way to retrieve wine, Won was willing to walk beside her, although San was oblivious to his presence. :)

4.gif

And I love Won's words of gratitude in this scene. He said, “It’s a relief…that you’re still living well. And for meeting each other again.” Unknown to her, he was welcoming her back. Farewells are of course sad, but his greeting here was also poignant because, as you mentioned earlier, she was never far off from his mind ever since their tragic first encounter. It was truly a great relief for him to see her again and know that she had been okay all this time.

@deandraluv Please don't apologize for long posts. Its a sign of we thinking and not just mindlessly fangirling over random bodyparts of our couple. :lol:Sharing our POV, no matter how long or short is noteworthy. :) BTW yes we all noticed those points and tried to post it in the MT but well like @packmule3 said, we were treated like step children when WonSan was the main OTP of the show. It's sad when different logical perspectives are merely(desperately) categorized as fanfiction and asked to leave. It's appalling really. Well, water under the bridge now. I am glad that thread was closed permanently. Good Riddance. Honestly.

BTW shall I give you one more WonSan OTP link? It was in the 2nd episode itself or maybe 1st? When San's mother was dying and WonRin were besides her. It was Won whom she focused on and asked him to save her daughter. She gave the responsibility to Won. Rin was right besides him but she totally ignored him and only talked to Won. If you have seen many Kdramas then you will know that only the guy who the girl will love is given such a responsibility by the female leads parents.

Sadly San's father misunderstood and thought Rin did everything for San and saved her time and again. Hence he wanted to give San to Rin so she would be protected forever and taken care of. But had he known the truth that it was Won who had done everything for San and her father then he would have sung another tune. :)

@bebe1989 You are correct. Rin was the one who wanted to cage San. Won gave her all the freedom as he could, keeping her safety in mind.

@mslee Rin treated San like he would Dan. I think @vangsweetie637 mentioned that to me once that Rin treats San like he did his sister.

@packmule3 Don't even start me on Rin's incompetence. LOL. The guy literally could not do anything right. Even when the plans were given to him ready made(which they always were. I never saw him come up with a single plan by himself that actually worked), he always managed to bungle it up. I pity San's father for thinking Rin could take care of San. Which is also why I laughed out loud when Teacher Lee said nonsense on how Rin is smart and loyal. I think the drinks were getting to him.

Rin at this point in time tells San he was in love with her since 12.  But from all the interactions that I have seen from him, it looks to me that Rin was more status oriented than Won.  He only started liking her when he came to know that she was San.  Until then, he did not even want the crown prince to hang around with her.  That seems oxymoronic to me (is that the right word to use here?).  If his actions and his communication matched, I would have been fine with the above conversation.  Did the writer unnecessarily include that to give an ounce of sympathy to him?

I agree with Rin love for San was coming late than Won. I mean, he tried to bring out his knife when saw Maid Sohwa attack Won to the tree, why would he do that if he likes Sohwa? Okay, if they said it's due to his habit as Prince bodyguard, and he's not liking Sohwa that much at that moment. This moment when he feel pain when the Maid Sohwa cry for the dead of her Madam and their bodyguard soldier, is not match when he saw San for the second time (after 8 years).

ezgif-1-46d581170d.gif

Remember when he looked amuse when his Seja thinking about Maid Sohwa and said, "you thinking about her? All this time?"

Isn't it mean he didn't think about Maid Sohwa as much as Won at those time? We can feel how attached Won to the Maid Sohwa from all these years than Rin. So I think when SJN write that Rin likes San from the first time he saw San after the attack is not correlated lol.

Btw I know I'm a trash but the thread title said about Im Siwan and Im Yoona so this is not really an OOT lol. Can we appreciate how Siwan always taking care of Yoona in here?

ezgif-1-2143dd43bc.gif

Siwan and HJH's face when Yoona massage their shoulder.

ezgif-1-cd50a554d1.gif

Yoona take care of Siwan too when he sits

ezgif-1-93fc05adf4.gif

Watch that HJH just leave and Siwan look at Yoona like he wants to help her.

Lol tell me if this post not suitable for this thread XD

If you realize, this scene was the same like in Healer (another SJN work I watched before TKIL, but Inever finished it lol). Where the lead male watching the female lead walking without her knowing it. Some fans made it a meme and said that 'it only happend on kdramas (not in real life)' or something. I found it sweet and funny at the same time.

But when I see this happening again in TKIL, I'm just sure that the main OTP in this drama woud be Wonsan not Rinsan, since SJN hints us like that xD

Oh I wanna ask something, can I?

1. Why did CP still married to Dan eventhough Dan, San and all the tribute to China were canceled? Is he doing that just because he wants to keeping his promise or there are another reason? SInce he said that married Dan was hid doing for Rin's sake (when he got Mad at Rin's proposal to marry San).

2. Remember the scene when the trio go travel at the last episode, when San and Rin playing with water, and Won stepped back from both of them. And when he hesitates to touch San's finger even she knows it. Did he do that because he considering about Rin's feeling? Or did he still feel that San likes Rin? But San said he likes Won at the forest.

Thank you for reading ^^

@seogwangnim, feel free to post news and gifs from the TKIL film ending here. :)

@Bambiina and @YourHighness . would attest that the WonSan posters aren't generally the sensitive kind who take offense at everything and anything they disagree with. We won't kick you out if you post something out of topic.

As for your questions here:

they're good questions. Let's see if @ZarraJae@deandraluv, @Kissy13, @alekaonu can help you with the answers. :) It's nice to hear other people's answers so we're getting different viewpoints and not just mine. I can be pretty boring at times.

Enjoy reading your awesome posts!!!  Keep them coming!!

I just re-watched episode 1-6 and to my surprise I found things I didn't pay much attention before.

-When San was entering the cave, Won told Rin that he recognised who San was. While Rin was still bewildered and wondering, Won had figured her out. Indeed, Won had always been one step ahead of Rin.  (Even Rin admitted it).

Good comments, @deandraluv!!  Keep them coming!

What I noticed about the cave entrance was how Won and San struck sparks off each other even from the start, leaving Rin bewildered to their interaction.

ru7BQqb.jpg

To get under her skin, Won would insult her brain power for her faulty memory.  He was so confident that she remembered him.

dh61kMv.jpg

Same here in Episode 17. He insisted that she remember him and his promise that she was his first. He didn't really believe for one second that she had forgotten. For him, she was just in denial.  lol.

Warm welcome to this thread!!!

i will try to answer the 1st question: The reason Won proceeded with marrying Dan is to save Rin and his family.   Since Rin was hiding a lot of truth and plans from him,  it was the only way to save his family.   Rin and San's families had been framed for hiding or stealing the food supply (I forgot exactly what it was, when the men stamped the white sacks)  They were accused of comitting treason/crime.   The law said that the family would be exempted from the accusation if the CP married the member of the family.  Had Rin revealed the plan to Won,  everything would be much simpler to solve.... Sigh....

So, Won married Dan to save Rin's family.

After all Won did for Rin..... Sigh...

I am sure my fellow wonsaners here can answer the 2nd question much better than I :D

@mslee Won is really charming..

Find it amusing that even in the army..Won is always amazing!!

Im Siwan achieved outstanding scores in all categories including shooting and strength and reached the status of a special class soldier in just two months after enlisting, which is highly unusual.

Guys you should watch The Merciless Movie too..if you want to see a darker Won..then you should watch this movie..pali pali

Hi @packmule3 thanks for sharing the article on Siwan and the pic of him with Ryeowook and Joowon plus the rest of blurred faces . Waiting for Ryeowook to come back from the army to complete Super Junior. Of course Super Junior won't be the original group as there's no Hangeng, Kim Bum and Kangin. Don't know why Kangin seemed to be always in trouble. Ooopppsss mi an my dear Wonsaners, I'm out of topic.

As for Joowon, I love this guy too  once he came back and has a new drama, I would definitely watch too.

I have a feeling at this scene, Won is letting San goes and he's now fully aware of Rin's feelings for San too. In my opinion, when he saw San and Rin looked so cheerful during the water scene, he stepped back to let them be. In his heart, he knew he can't go anywhere freely unlike Rin, he knew San can't be kept in a place for long especially in a palace. Furthermore he has a Queen now, he knew that San minded that. That's the reason why she refused his hand few times after he was married. I believe he tried to set her free to go with Rin as he knew Rin would take good care of San.

But he gave in to his feelings when his minister reported that San has been sighted near the city. Its as though San was signalling to him that she was waiting for him and that she was not with Rin. Maybe that's why in the end, he left the palace and went to Yuan with San as his beloved Jobi.

:D What do you think of my POV? chingu deul :tongue:

Second this.

Won was letting San go.   In ep.  19, he said, " I must like you so much that I can't ask you to stay"

Won was fully aware that San was like a bird  and she loved to fly away, while Won, even though he said he would leave the country,  he had to stay.

Won even let Rin take care of San.   He told Rin to go in and cover San with blanket because her clothing was thin when they were outside the hut.

There must have been  another convo/farewell between San and  Won when he told her to go so faraway that he couldn't track her down.   It was not in one of the scenes, though.:D

I am so glad to see our WonSan thread has so many thoughtful posts and analysis still. I am glad we are not raving about bodyparts and feels and well babies. :)

 Just to annoy you, I'm going to talk about body parts.

jI9R5HU.jpg

photocredit? I got from @Kissy13. :)

The nice thing about hugging somebody who's just your size is that your neck fits perfectly in the warm curve of his neck and shoulder. You just fall into that empty, waiting space.  You don't have to stand on tippy-toes nor crane your neck. You can rest in his embrace for a long time without straining your toes or your neck.

The other nice thing is, when you're hugging somebody your size, everything lines up like symmetry. You know what I mean, right?  Eye to eye, cheek to cheek, chest to chest, waist to waist, hips to hips, and ....hmmm...lower extremities to lower extremities. Things match like one-to-one one-on-one correspondence.

As Goldilocks would say, everything is just rrrright.

So there you go. Our obligatory body parts post. We're STILL analyzing, of course.

Welcome, @seogwangnim. Happy to see another Wonsaner here.

Let me elaborate on @alekaonu's point if I may. At the riverbank, Won took a step back, not because he thought San liked Rin or vice versa but he was still in deep thought about what he had said earlier :

We knew if each other was lying or telling the truth.

That's how close we were.

We knew the truth, but we pretended not to know.

You also knew that I was just pretending.

To me, he stepped back because he was sad about their coming separation, something that he knew could not be avoided at all, because he continued with his voiceover while looking at them:

That summer, we were practising for our farewell. It was as if we will never be apart, and as if we never knew we could be apart.

San, like @alekaonu has so cleverly said- San was not one to be kept in a cage and she would also not be comfortable when Won was alreay married.

I just rewatched Ep 1 and Ep20. I believe Won let San go also because he has this firm believe that wherever she would be, she would always come back to him. As many of my friends here have discussed in detail about the significance of the falcon (Ep 1), I will just emphasize on it.  In the 1st episode, we saw Won setting free some birds and we see the strings dropping off from the birds as he cut them. One of them was the King's prized falcon which returned even without the string tied to it. We saw the reference on the thread/string of fate in a later episode but I  believe it was already hinted at in the first episode as well. We know later the king's falcon returned to the king, even without the string being tied to it. This scene alone showed Won learning two things from his father ie that if the person who loves him, even when set free, will always come back to you and that even the strings or threads that bind you together had been cut, what was meant to be will always be and nothing will change that. Won trusts and loves San and he knows San loves him (since she said so!), letting her go was the right thing to do then because he had faith that she would return to him.

And did you also notice that when they said their goodbyes in the final episode, both he and San tried so hard to hide their tears and kept trying to smile? It brought back that scene when a young Won held  both of So Hwa's hands as he conveyed  San's mother's dying message:

Don't hate anyone. Keep smiling and keep going as you always have.

Then young Won patiently made her repeat the message:

San: Don't hate anyone. And always...

Won: Smile...

San: Smile...

Won: Keep going as you always have.

(Then young San burst into tears as she heard this again)

A very poignant scene if we connect all the other scenes together. Was San recalling her mother's dying wish when she said her farewell to Won that day? It was such a sad scene and kudos to both Siwan and Yoona for nailing it.

My little observations in Ep 1 and 20:

1. In final scene, Won had a smile on his face when he said San shouldn't have let him know where she was. He was really happy.

2. In the farewell scene, when Won was waiting at the tree, San and Rin came from opposite directions, which proved that they were not together the first few days after he 'died' but she did visit his 'grave', as the Master said . Dare I hope that she spent the last few days with Won instead, just like when she spent that whole night with Won as the injured Rin laid in bed and declared her love?

I'm sorry I just can't help to respon to this first than the answer of my question xD sorry

He is indeed a prefectionist, his group member always said this too. When he was a trainee (for being idol), he always got the first position than the other members, idk what is teh categories, but maybe for dicipline, dance and singing. Eventhough after their debut, he didn't have many parts in singing and dancing. Thank God he choose acts and we can see how shine he is.

He was a student in Busan University when he was a trainee too. His major is Mechanical Engineering, that's why he was invited in Yoo Jaeseok's "I'm a Man" as one of the living witness of how engineering stdents live like lol. After Misaeng ended, he took TOEIC and got score 820. There are many video of him playng rubic or solving mathematic problems too.

Remember when Yoona said that Siwan have a really good concentration? I think his perfectionist is match perfectly with this ability, that's why he did good in many aspects including army ^^

I'm sorry for blabbering a lot about Siwan, lol. I should stop now.

At first, I was reluctant to start re-watching TKL.  I was reluctant to see how San 'fell in love with Rin' as Yoona mentioned in her interview.  But I wanted to prove otherwise.  I want to prove how it was written as San came to like Won so much. Re -watching TKL continues to amaze me how obvious San showed her liking and feelings towards Won from ep 7-14. Those clues are beyond male-female friendship. Let me to list a few of them:

-Bi Yeon asked her why San lost track of the man she was chasing and San answered,"It was because the man.  Someone who loves to give things"  I think this is what San meant when she talked about the New Year's pouch, Won who always gave even before she wished for.  That is what Won meant to her.

Ep. 10

-While keeping watch over the salt merchant, San was flustered when she recalled what they did the night before.  They were in each other's embrace.  She became even more flustered when Won held her hand on the table.  When Won stood up and left,  San was looking at the hand Won held.

-I really love the tavern scene when Won and San followed the salt merchant.  San was blabbering about the man who saved her and Won didn't like that.  I think, partly it was because Won took part in saving her a couple of times and he didn't get acknowledged.  When Won asked how she could speak of someone else in his presence, San noticed Won's sad eyes.  He closed the curtain between them.  Then San opened it and said this while looking at him in the eye, "It is not easy for me to think of something else in front you.  You make me feel uncomfortable, anxious, and distracted"  Won was stunned, he didn't expect San would say that to him.  She left and felt embarrassed.  (I think it was kind of confession to Won.  We could see the sudden change of mood.  When San talked about the man who saved her, she was cheerful and after she said to Won that he made her uncomfortable, anxious and distracted, her facial expression changed.) Why did she have to tell him and denied that it was not easy for her to speak of something else in front of him if she only regarded Won as a friend? She could have brushed it off.  Won felt happy, he let her go while looking at her back smiling.  I love this scene and kept repeating it a couple of times.

Ep. 11:

-San and her father misunderstood the situation why Rin was in jail.  They thought that Rin was put in jail because he confessed he was at fault and not San's and the authority released San and put Rin in jail instead.  San didn't know that she was set free because Won knelt and begged outside the king's chamber and he could only release one of them.  She thought Rin was jailed and sacrificed himself because of her and for her sake.  San and her father felt indebted to Rin.  She didn't know what Won had gone through in order to release her from prison.  Her father thought it was because of Rin and the bribes he ordered.  They didn't know that it was Won who was framed and whom the enemies were after.  But I think in later episode, San realised that it was Won who had saved her many times.  SAn and her father should feel indebted to Won instead.

Ep. 14:

-After the dance party, San said goodbye to both Won and Rin.  She said, "Do not trip however slippery it is"  Rin would not have known what she meant by that.  It was Won's line only known to her.

-I find there is an interesting scene.  Rin was asked by his father whether he wanted to marry San instead of his brother, Jeon.  He didn't answer because he recalled the conversation he had with San earlier when San expressed her sadness and concerns towards Won so much that Rin asked in his heart,"What about me?".  IMO, Rin was unable to proceed in marrying San because he was not sure that he was the one in San's heart.  At that moment he might have thought San loved Won.  He also remembered what Won asked for San as the woman he loved.

-The reason that San decided to wear the mask all her life was for Won.  San didn't want to let him know where and how she was living.  She said that Won couldn't hold himself if he found out.  She didn't want to hurt Won whom she cared so much.

-On the supposed wedding day, Bi Yeon brought a tray of hairpins, San picked the bird hairpin Won gave and sadly looking at it. Bi Yeon and San had a conversation while San was sitting at the makeup vanity:

BY: Are you going to use that too?

San:  No.  This is not for me to use.  It is something that I hide away. (as she hid it under her wedding robe).

We know then that  she lied when she said that she brought it along with her because she wanted to return it to Won.  She liked to carry it along with her.

Sorry for the long post.  I  am just  amazed and excited as I pick up the clues here and there from each episode.

I just love this detailed Wonsan detector

Please do more, heheheh

---

Thank you for @deandraluv , @alekaonu, @ZarraJae for the answers. They're all detailed and explain nicely. I know if Won have to let San go bcs he doesn;t want San to be caged, it;s just sad to see the separated. And again--like @packmule3 said-- WonSan goodbye in the last episode left Rin bewildered. Just WonSan that have this 'special' connection that others don't understand.

Remember when Won almost return San's wave? But he hesitates and turn down his hand. Maybe it's mean that he don't want it to be a goodbye wave? That he knows they will reunite again someday after all this miserable events endedn and Won works out the mess on his kingdom?

And @ZarraJae's idea that WonSan spend their last days together was just... HYPE ME xDD

Why can;t I think about this before, uh oh. They're so beautiful. They're story is so beautiful. Everything on them were just beautiful. Every hidden meaning and their hidden expression leaves us to discuss and communicate more even the drama has ended. This is what I should grateful more :')

@packmule3 Uh oh, I love this bodyparts talk, can we do it more? Lol. Who cares Won is short. His hand, head, shoulder, body is bigger than San so she should feel comfortable enough with him. Why should compare heights? Hehehe.

---

Can I ask more? Lol.

Why do Lee Sonsaeng said about "CP doesn;t like to drink?"

I still don;t get it until now.

Thank you anyway ^^

Continued re-watching ep. 15-22 and picked up more clues on Wonsan:

-Ep 15:  After the wedding was canceled, San was strolling along the street alone when she met Rin.  She just found out who Han Cheon really was and had a lot of things in her mind.  She asked Rin, "Why do you speak formally to a mere servant like me?"  Rin said,"  You were my Master's love".  Did he lie there?  The reason he spoke formally to San was because he had known her identity as the Minister's daughter from the start.

-Ep 16:  On the scene when Won was humiliated by the King, San learnt that it was Won (not Rin) who set her free from prison by begging to the King.  (Where is that scene in one of the trailers when San was crying bitterly?-_-)   This scene is one of the most intense scenes of TKL.

-Ep.  18: The Tea Party Scene. :bawling:  (It is one of the best acting of Siwan shown on this scene, I think.  Especially the moment when he was about to announce his choice.  His expression was so good in expressing his mixed emotions).

-San looked very uncomfortable and conflicted when she told Han Cheon that the young lady had another man in her heart.  Had San been in love with Rin and regarded Won as a friend, she wouldn't look that nervous.

-A couple of reasons, I think, why Won chose Dan at the tea party:

     - He had promised Dan he would save her from becoming a tribute to Yuan

     - He had made promise to San that he wouldn't choose the Young Lady as his bride.

-He was sad because San had another man in her heart?  (I noticed that in the following episodes Won thought that San liked Rin?  He spent his nights alone gazing  at the sky missing San and had the internal dialog about letting her go.)

-The fact that San cried actually tells us that she had feelings for Won.  If she regarded Won as a friend, why would she cry?  If she had someone else in mind, she should have felt relieved by his choice.  She didn't cry because she was worried what might happen to her family.  She cried because she had to let Won marry Dan to save her from being sent as a tribute to Yuan.

-It is interesting that the camera captured the Queen's expressions.  The Queen observed San's facial expressions.  She noticed well that San cried as tears rolled down her cheeks.  The Queen knew that San had feelings for Won,  that was why she involved and dressed San up in the mission of stealing Yuan's document.  That was why the Queen opened up herself to San, telling her stories of her past.  IMO, if the Queen didn't think that San had feelings for Won, she would not approach San and open herself to her.

-And it bothers him that he thought San had someone else in mind.

Ep. 21.  Won visited San in the prison cell.   It was their first meeting after the tea party.

-Won :  Do have someone in mind?  (It bothered him so much that he directly asked San)

San: I found out that for Young Master Rin to stay, Lady Dan had to become your wife.

(Wow!  I thought San never answered whom she liked, but now I know.  The answer was implied.  I didn't pay much attention to it before.)

If she did have someone else in mind (Rin), she would have answered,"Yes, I do" or "I am sorry",   Actually her answer to Won is, "No, I don't have someone in mind but for young master Rin to stay,  you had to marry Dan."

-Notice that San got her eyes teary when she talked about her father, but she really cried when she delivered her heart-felt message to Won for Han Cheon, she must have liked him so much.

-There is a parallel on this scene: San refused to sit by Won when he asked her, later in ep. 19, Won was the one who refused to sit by San.

Ep 22.

-I like the scene when San entered the Queen's room.  She sweetly smiled at Won, fixated her eyes only on Won and bowed to him.  (She didn't care much for Rin, I guess.)

-Interesting scenes:  On the scene when Won and Rin had a convo about the cage , Rin was being presumptuous.   Maybe he was flattered that Won mentioned that San had someone else in mind and he thought it was him?  Rin asked Won what if San wasn't happy in the cage beside Won.  Won asked Rin, "Why do you say she will be unhappy beside me?  Interestingly, on the previous scene,"San walked with an eunuch happily telling him about her funny and happy memories with Won.   See that, Rin?  San was happy with Won!  It was the answer to Won's question.

Ep 23 & 24.

-When San was brought to Dan's room and Dan brought the medicine, she said,"He will be my husband soon"  San was silenced for a while then she tried to smile widely.  (Now,  if she didn't have any feelings for Won, why would she be silenced for a while, why did she respond slowly with a smile?  She would have smiled immediately, if she was happy for Dan.)

-When Rin cleaned the wound on San's forehead, (supposedly the sweet Rinsan moment),   San told Rin to go and look for Won.    (If Rin was the one in San's mind,  she would be so immersed in the sweet moment with him that she would forget about Won, wouldn't she?  I think, Rin really went and looked for Won.   Won came and watched over her like a dream.)

-In her sleep, San said that she wanted to return the bird hairpin to Won.  I think it was because of Dan's words (that Won would be her husband.  San kept thinking about it and subconsciously talked about returning the bird hairpin in her sleep.)

Whoaaah......the more I watched the more clues I found......

Love reading your awesome posts and POVs......
