Sigh, my favorite couple.  They're so comfortable with each other.

PS. Re 8 letters Christmas teaser:  Someone needs to tell Minho not to peel his banana so far down; there's a good chance, especially with a skinny banana, that it will break!  lol.  i guess another example of our 3yo.

K-Drama Time Machine: Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum & Kim Joon Are Rich Boys We Want To Bring Home From Iconic Series “Boys Over Flowers”

BOYS OVER FLOWERS PREMIERED 10 YEARS AGO ON KBS. LET’S TAKE A LOOK BACK ON THIS CLASSIC DRAMA FAVORITE AND REMINISCE ABOUT ALL THOSE PUPPY LOVE MOMENTS.

The Korean adaptation of Hana Yori Dango captivated hearts all over the world and became an instant favorite across different countries. This drama also skyrocketed Lee Min Ho to fame. Several present day Korean stars were also introduced in this drama that spawned a fandom like no other.

Lee Min Ho was a star in this drama, oozing with leading man charisma. He annoys the viewers by his arrogant attitude, but he ultimately turned into a lovable and adorable little boy. Lee Min Ho has an aristocratic air about him that convinces the audience that his family literally swims in money. And yet we can laugh at him, make fun of his silliness and finally, admire him for being honest about his feelings.

19 Korean Dramas That Will Turn 10 This 2019

#3 BOYS OVER FLOWERS

The year 2009 brought the F4 phenomenon on high once again when South Korea, via KBS2, released its live adaptation of the highly popular manga Hana Yori Dango titled Boys Over Flowers. It led to a another Korean Wave, positioning its cast members Ku Hye Sun, Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum, Kim Joon, and Kim So Eun at the center of the wave and as household names, not only in South Korea, but all over Asia.

Despite the familiar and cliché story of Boys Over Flowers and the drama being the third live adaptation of the manga following Taiwan’s Meteor Garden and Japan’s Hana Yori Dango, it received high viewership rating from its premiere on January 5, 2009 to its final episode on March 29, 2009, averaging 25 to 28 percent. It was broadcast in other countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Canada, Puerto Rico, and more, where it also enjoyed immense popularity.

Boys Over Flowers is often credited for catapulting the mainstream popularity of its leads especially its lead actor Lee Min Ho who played Gu Jun Pyo.

The ideal type of singer/dancer Kim Wan-sun is revealed to be Lee Minho(she's known to be the Korean madonna, was popular in the 80s and debuted before our bb was even born :P). This is the millionth time I see her mentioning our bb in a tv program xD the episode will air on the 8th but the picture above reads 'Lee Minho and his character Choi Young is a perfect match'. I wonder if she fell in love with him through Faith

Spoiler

Episode 22

Eunsoo gets attacked by some assasin(?) who wanted to steal her tools but because of the chaos, she loses her antidote.

Broken Eunsoo asks lady Choi how hard was it for Choi Young when his fiancé died, she’s worried about what would happen to him if she dies... this truly broke my heart, she’s not worried about herself but about Choi Young!! :(

Eunsoo is even thinking to stay and not go back to heaven, lady Choi tells her to ask him directly.

The king goes to where the investigation of Deuk Heung is held, with Choi Young and his woodalchis. The king said his goodbyes to the queen earlier and he asks Choi Young if he did the same to Eunsoo but CY said he didn’t because he’ll be returning soon. Gotta love his confidence!

Things really do get ugly later, the king tries to talk with Gicheol and Deukheung but they don’t listen and just show him the letter of Yuan’s king appointing Deukheung as the new king of Goryeo. The king and woodalchis are attacked by Gicheol’s soldiers who hugely outnumbered them.

Back at the palace, the queen gives the retainers a scroll and the king’s seal and lets them decide if they want their king or just go with yuan’s choice of the new king. The scroll has an order for the royal guards to attack team Gicheol, and all of the royal guards are on standby waiting for that order.

Things get a bit harder and Choi young’s hand starts to rattle, later on he tells the king to leave because he thinks if he waits longer he won’t be able to protect him but the king still insists on staying.

Choi Young goes back alone fighting all those soldiers as they come for him, he’s a true badass.

The fire lady and flute boy are freed by Gicheol’s man who says it’s ok to attack the royal guards since the king has changed.

Deukheung is impatient he wants to go out and directly to the king’s seat, but Gicheol says they can’t because they’re surrounded by the royal guards and he’s waiting for more of his soldiers to come for backup. Gicheol is noticeably shivering and appears to be really weak.

The retainers are taking forever to decide whether to help their king or not, and the queen tells them to just abandon him. He’ll be waiting even for 100 days with hope but she can’t see him like that. She asks you neither have the courage to abandon him nor help him by sending troops?

Aaaaand finally the order comes and the royal guards go to protect the king!

99583C335AEFE6F91EC80F

When Gicheol received the news that they’re being attacked by royal guards he doesn’t believe it “they’re just going to surround us. They don’t have the courage to attack” ... I think Gicheol is already dying they don’t even have to make an effort to kill him.

The royal guards catch up with Choi Young who then goes to search for Deukheung but doesn’t find him. Deukheung meets with the same assasin who attacked Eunsoo earlier, and he helps him escape.

At the end of this eventful day, Choi Young heads back to his woodalchi quarters and to Eunsoo. He seems to be avoiding her but Eunsoo tells him to not do that. Did he avoid her because he was covered in blood and she said before that he smells like blood? Anyway he says it’s not his blood and that it was easy to defeat the enemies because they weren’t trained well. She hugs him.

9993724C5AEFF19D0FA274

I love that Eunsoo didn’t complain about anything that happened to her earlier, instead she just stayed next to Choi Young quietly and welcomed him with a big smile on her face.

The yuan envoy was behind that assasin, and Deukheung is told to leave the country and for Eunsoo’s tools to be melt. Before he leaves, Deukheung requests Gicheol to kill both CY and ES for an exchange to the whereabouts of Hwata’s remaining tools. He tells Gicheol that he burnt her diary but 2 of the remaining relics are still safe, and that Eunsoo has an extra thing from heaven- that film container she found under the rocks. Gicheol seems to be believing in heaven again.

Eunsoo does a checkup on Choi Young’s grip again but finds no problem. She then brings him his sword which Choi Young explains how nice it is and different from any other sword. Apparently it’s the same that she used to stab him with, and it’s also the same that killed his master. His sword doesn’t kill people who deserve to die but kills the innocent instead, that’s what Choi Young said expressing his frustration from losing the person who poisoned his imja.

9904EA3A5AEFF37A1DD301

The king held a meeting with the guards and woodalchis, at the end he called for Choi Young and told him he may stay with Eunsoo after he finds Deukheung because she lost her antidote and so on... ahh he spilled it. Furious CY goes out while Daeman explains to him that Eunsoo cried a lot and told everyone not to tell him, he’s not making things better as Choi Young asked ‘she cried?’ He said he had never seen such a crying person before.

He went to lady Choi who told him everything that happened and how Eunsoo cared for him only, she then asked him “did she ask you?”

Choi Young goes to the yuan envoy searching for Deukheung, but he was told that he sent him to yuan already. The envoy said he met with Eunsoo to check if she’s from heaven and he let her go because she’s dying anyway, and that Choi Young might die too so he advised him to not hang around her and to watch out for Gicheol. This broke my heart...

Choi Young runs in fury to the woodalchi quarters but doesn’t find Eunsoo

He finds her in the queen’s quarters, she was there to give soaps for the queen and the queen asked if she’s getting ready to leave for the heaven world, Eunsoo instead answers her previous questions about when she’ll be able to have a baby and that’s in 10 years. I wonder why tho, I get she won’t be able to be next tot he king for a while. Eunsoo advises her to love the king everyday, and she defines love very beautifully.

Choi Young finally confronts Eunsoo. Choi Young says he became greedy and broke his promise to return her back, he now takes his word back to ask her to stay with him in this world.

Team Gicheol is packing their things and ready to leave before the guards come when Gicheol says he wants his things- hwata’s relics but it’s in the king’s room. He also wants to meet Eunsoo but no one knows where she is. Gicheol says only Choi Young can make her come out, and the flute boy requests to leave Choi Young to him but the fire lady also wants to kill him pointing out how oddly he was behaving last time. Gicheol can’t have Eunsoo and that’s how he justifies his obsession to her.

Eunsoo is sitting at the backyard alone reminiscing of all the times when Choi Young tried hard in protecting her so that he can fulfill his promise, woodalchi Choongseok comes to escort her back and trying to comfort her by saying that CY’s temper isn’t really bad and he just doesn’t know how to express himself. He adds up that the boys found the 2 chairs in the room and figured he’d never give up his bed for anyone lmao I love how Eunsoo is listening to all of this and not saying anything in CY’s favor xD

She finally goes back to the room, and CY tells her that they’re leaving tomorrow morning. Eunsoo insists on staying and trying to make another antidote, and if anything goes wrong she wants to die in his arms. She tells him to hold her and not leave her alone until the end. WHY IS CY’s LIFE SO HARD!! I get that she’s so nice in deciding that she wants to stay next to him even if it costs her life but letting him seeing her die will shatter his heart into pieces.

99D445345AF0AB53242D96

9906763C5AF0ADDB25D503

Anyway, Choi Young goes out and comes back immediately and tells her to pack her things to go wait at the heaven’s door. She still insists to stay saying if she went to her world she sure would be living but she’ll be living as a dead person, and tells choi young knows it because he’ll live the same way.

Choi Young asks how could he protect her and ask her to stay by his side after he ran around killing people instead of finding an antidote while she’s dying .. that’s when his hand starts to shake and Eunsoo holds it and cries.

17 K-Dramas To Convert Non-Interested Friends

One of the most frustrating things in the world is when you watch an amazing K-drama and want to talk about it to all of your friends, but you aren’t able to. A lot of us have been there. It’s tough. But then there’s that amazing moment where some of your friends will watch a specific K-drama that you recommended that will send them on a downward spiral into the world of K-dramas. It’s a glorious moment because we know they’ll be hooked and can share in our K-drama obsession together. For those of you who are trying to get your friends into this wonderful world of K-dramas, here are 17 shows that you can introduce to your friends. There’s obviously a lot of K-dramas out there, so it took a lot of hard thinking to narrow the list down, but here it goes!

For the friend you want to introduce hyped up K-dramas to

Boys Over Flowers

Anyone who is well into the K-drama world knows the title “Boys Over Flowers.” It’s the F4, the handsome schoolboys who are rich and ready to fall in love. Gu Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho) falls in love with the poor girl in school named Geum Jan Di (Ku Hye Sun). They start out in a love-hate relationship, but then it ends up blossoming into a full out romance.

A lot of people who were previously not into K-dramas may have gotten sucked in because of this drama. Although it’s old, it’s proven to stand the test of time as it continues to be a fan favorite K-drama. Maybe it’s the light-hearted rom-com storyline or the fact that there’s a lot of eye-candy in the cast. Whatever the reason, it’s bound to bring your friends into the K-drama world!

For the friend who loves action

City Hunter

By now, “City Hunter” could be considered a classic in terms of action K-dramas. It stars Lee Min Ho as Lee Yoon Sung and Park Min Young as Kim Na Na. Yoon Sung gets hired to work at the Blue House as a tech guy, but he possesses a lot of other really cool skills like fighting. He falls in love with Na Na, who also works at the Blue House as a bodyguard. Yoon Sung gets entangled in a revenge plot and there’s a whole lotta action involved throughout the series with him fighting bad guys.

“City Hunter” was considered a big international success when it aired, and it still continues to be one of the first dramas that people watch that get them sucked into the world of K-dramas. The action juxtaposed with the steamy romance serves as the perfect introduction. It’s hard to stop watching this series once you’ve started, which is why it’s pretty good to introduce to a friend!

Lee Min-ho set for military discharge this year

Some of Korean entertainment’s biggest stars including Lee Min-ho will be discharged this year after completing their military service.

Korean superstar Lee Min-ho is one of the most-awaited actors this year. He started his alternative military service as a public service worker on May 12, 2017 at the Gangnam District Office in Seoul. He was exempted from being an active duty soldier due to severe injuries he suffered in a car accident in 2006. He will be discharged on April 25 although some reports stated that it will be on May 11.

Memories of Alhambra is in my opinion the best cable K-drama I have seen with a great story, content, production values, directing and quality.

Why am I talking about it here. It is because I hope LMH will do a cable drama with this writer, production team and director. :)

Spoiler

I love the part where CY is in such distress before going into his room to find ES missing and he destroys her jars in frustration. The steely Daejang is getting emotional and angry. I also love the part where he tells her that he was greedy, that he retracts his request of asking her to remain with him and not return to heaven. He was asking too much. That was the hardest part for him. He is frustrated that he promised to protect her but he could not even do that, not with his hand shaking hand. Both LMH and KHS were excellent here. Both their acting was spot on. Her not wanting to be alone and willing to die in his arms so long that they can spend her last days together with him in Goryeo.

I also love the relationship between the king and queen. Derp face Ki Chul makes me laugh. He is evil but at the same time likeable not like king’s uncle.
