Bu-Jung & Kang-Jae's scenes this episode were so incredibly intense, so much more than just their words - I haven't seen a drama with either of these two actors before, but I'll be looking for them going forward. They're both outstanding

On a totally unrelated note ... this is what I felt like I was watching between Min-Jung and Just almost the entire episode -

You would like her in the 2007 movie Secret Sunshine for which she won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival.  Also good in Kdrama Goodwife.  I don't know him at all but he sure oozes heat.  Great pairing.

I am not sure I'd be as comfortable as Bu Jung walking alone along a dark stretch of road in the dead of night, in the middle of nowhere. But I guess as she feels dead and empty inside.. it doesn't make a difference whatever happens to her..?

Jung Soo on the other doesn't seem to care that Bu Jung frequently spends her time away from home. Why are they even still married LoL? At best, they're like estranged housemates or something.

Personally, Jung Soo should just stay married to his mom. Ugh his mom is just as insufferable. In next ep. she pretends to not recognize Bu Jung's poor dad.. what an awful woman. And she wonders why her son turned out the way he did!?

Soon Joo is just a simp for Min Jung LoL! He'd do anything for her. It's really unhealthy and toxic but well.. that's love for ya huh?

Bu Jung and Gang Jae speak formally with each other still LoL, I thought they're way past that now. I felt for her when she said she wanted validation from her dad, Jung Soo. Because as Gang Jae asks, she has pretty much all the basic necessities so why does she feel empty? We humans just love complicating ourselves don't we LoL?

I didn't have English subtitles for the last 20 minutes of Episode 11 so I didn't catch what MJ and Ddak-yi were saying to each other (when she was lying in bed talking) and what BJ and GJ were saying to each other in the tent. IF any of that dialogue was important...what do I need to know??

Completely agree! During this episode I was wondering what their early dating/ courtship time was like - what made them fall for each other and get married? They seem like they're on two different planets now. He at least wants to keep reaching out to her (perhaps out of guilt for the affair?) but she doesn't seem to put any effort into their marriage. Hopefully the show will show us more of their story so we can better understand her standoffishness.

Haha. Seriously. I'm really trying to like MJ....but I just don't.

Ep. 12

I was equal parts shocked and moved by Jung Soo's mom. She bagged a meal and tried to make amends with Bu Jung's dad. Guess the woman has a conscience after all LoL.

I would be lying if I said I didn't want Gang Jae to kiss Bu Jung in the tent. This was their second intense moment after the wedding incident in a previous ep.

He really seem like he wanted to by the way he pulled her close. And then she let him sleep on her shoulder during the ride to bus terminal.

Sigh, then there's Min Jung and Soon Joo LoL. Woo Nam thinks she has his sis's qualities which I fail to see ha-ha. So she's spent roaming markets at dawn hmm. If bein' an escort was part of her "services", shouldn't she be able to afford a place like Gang Jae Idk?

Human Disqualification: Episode 11

by quirkycase

HD11-00220.jpg

Over the course of one night, several ambiguous pairs grapple with ill-advised feelings. Our leads take an unexpected journey to the past and learn more about each other than ever. Back home, our house cleaner’s husband comforts his grieving ex while our escort’s soulmate spends some quality time with his crush.

EPISODE 11: “Forbidden feelings”

Min-jung and Ddak-yi wait for Kang-jae to get back from his strangely long ramyeon run. Since Kang-jae isn’t answering his texts, Ddak-yi decides to go looking for him. He opens the door and finds the bag of ramyeon Kang-jae left.

At the police station, Bu-jung gets a text from Jung-soo saying he’ll be home late because he’s at a funeral. She’s still waiting on Kang-jae’s reply to her text.

Kang-jae rushes to the station and sees Bu-jung through the window, sitting alone. He fixes his hair in the bathroom before walking into the lobby. Bu-jung looks up, and they lock eyes. Kang-jae seems a bit nervous. He introduces himself to the officer as Bu-jung’s guardian and waits as they log his ID.

At the funeral, Jung-soo sits with his classmates and watches an exhausted Kyung-eun greet guests. She catches his eye and gives a small smile, looking relieved to see him.

Back at the station, Kang-jae fills out a form to release Bu-jung. The officer asks if he’s aware this is Bu-jung’s second time being reported by the reservoir. Kang-jae asks if he’s referring to the incident a year ago where she wrote a suicide note with other people.

The officer isn’t trying to accuse. He just wants to make sure people in her life are aware for her own safety. Bu-jung has remained completely silent this whole time, and Kang-jae has to prompt her when it’s time to leave.

It’s so late they’ve already missed the last bus. As they stand at the stop, Bu-jung comments that Kang-jae’s new haircut suits him. “I know,” he replies. Pfft.

When she asks what he saved her as in his contacts, Kang-jae tells her to guess. She assumes he has her listed as “client” and maybe labels his many clients with numbers. What number is she? Kang-jae doesn’t respond.

Agreed! The MIL is slowly starting to steal the show - she's so unpredictable. I couldn't tell if she was embarrassed by BJ's dad or if she didn't want to embarrass him (why did he turn away from her and pretend not to know her?). But when she tried to fix the box trolley that her friend had knocked over, and when she tried to find him again, that was nice of her.

And A Ran dealing with plagiarism was a surprise! What continues to be so strange to me is that she's in a show with her husband and his mistress. Why would any of them want to be in that situation?!

Best quote of Episode 11 was GJ: "This tent looks like a pumpkin, right?" LOL.

It was sweet when GJ said he's one of the people who doesn't always think BJ is angry; he's willing to listen to her and his presence gives her comfort. The show is developing that really nicely.

And for all of you who are also watching Hometown Cha Cha Cha, when the assistant manager started picking up tangerines off the floor of the grocery store, I was like, "Aww, Eun Cheol, you're always so helpful!" Then I remembered Eun Cheol was HCCC. I don't even know the assistant manager's name in Lost.

Every single character in this show is so lonely. It seems like none of them has a strong support network. Ddak Yi and his sister seem to have the most normal family relationship. And the biggest house.

I guess he was embarrassed that the in-law caught him in a vulnerable situation @the_sweetroad her friends were awful.

The pumpkin comment made by Gang Jae reminded me immediately of Cinderella. Which I take he knew the time he shared with Bu Jung would be brief.

Yeah I agree that everyone on this drama is lonely. That's why it's so aptly titled "Lost". I mean it's true for all of us. We can be lonely even with many people around us. I think the past 1.5 years have really ingrained that into us.

I like all the conversations between Gang Jae/Bu Jung, because their voices are so gentle LoL but they seem like they genuinely love listening to each other.

@tulip06

Min Jung mentioned she's moving to a place Soon Joo found(?) Like a budget "goshiwon" (a small room like hostel) She was at Gang Jae's to get some stuff she needed for the move.

Human Disqualification: Episode 12

by quirkycase

HD12-00698.jpg

Our protagonists enjoy some time away from their worries but know this little escape can’t last forever. While they ponder things lost along life’s way, our ex-writer’s husband learns another of his wife’s secrets that sheds light on some of her recent behavior.

EPISODE 12: “Lost items”

Kang-jae stares at Bu-jung silently for a few moments after she asks if she can touch his face. Then he readily gives her permission. Bu-jung hesitates before reaching up and gently stroking his face.

He closes his eyes as her hand traces the lines of his face. After a minute, Bu-jung pulls her hand back and looks on the verge of tears. When she shifts away, Kang-jae turns toward her and asks why she’s sad. “Every time I see you, you’re sad.” What is she thinking?

HD12-00078.jpg

Bu-jung realizes he’s right that she’s sad, not angry. Everyone always assumes she’s angry, so she believed it too. They see her and think, “She’s always angry, so be careful.” Kang-jae argues her father doesn’t think that, and neither does he.

She admits that Kang-jae’s words that everything about this time and place will disappear frightened her. Before that disappearing, she wanted to touch his face. When he agreed so quickly, she got scared. It’d been so long since she’d touched someone’s face, and she didn’t have the confidence.

“Thank you for saying I’m sad,” Bu-jung says. Slowly, Kang-jae reaches over and lightly brushes Bu-jung’s hair away from her face. She turns toward him, letting his hand rest against her face. They cautiously inch toward each other.

Kang-jae slowly wraps his arm around her and pulls her closer. They lie there, faces all but touching. When Kang-jae leans his face in, close enough to kiss, Bu-jung clutches his shirt in a death grip and turns her face.

She doesn’t pull away, but she puts a slight distance between them. They stay like that for several moments. Finally, Kang-jae gets up and goes outside for some air. Bu-jung stays unmoving.

Elsewhere, Ddak-yi searches for somewhere to buy bedding in the middle of the night but has no luck. Min-jung tells him to give it up – she’s been to enough markets at this hour to know bedding stores aren’t open. He wonders why she came with him, then. “I was curious where a good, honest person goes with his girlfriend at dawn.”

Min-jung knows he’s not the type to go to the typical late-night places like motels. He’d probably treat her like she’s precious, which she’s never experienced. Ddak-yi is quiet for a while and then asks the taxi driver to turn around.

I feel like they aren’t going to kiss and a part of me feels like, yes he actually misses her, but it could also be that he’s still working for that one guy. As for the famous actress, there are moments I feel bad for her and then she does something awful and then I suddenly stop.

I was wrong!!! I’m so happy lmao. I’m honestly not sure what’s going to happen next.

Spoiler

They actually kissed and in the preview when she’s with him they both look so happy omg. And I love how he told that one guy to leave cause I hate him. Also I really hope her dad is okay but I feel like that’s unlikely.

Gang Jae is too cute. He texts that Bu Jung need not reply but keeps checking his phone screen every chance he gets LoL. And when the reply finally came, his reaction was like a kid on X'Mas morning. The longing. The embrace. The elation.

Jung Soo as well has gone off the deep end. He acts unaffected by the widow but take extra effort to groom himself. Their marriage has been long dead for awhile now, just neither of 'em want to admit it.

Didn't like how Jong Hoon rummage through Gang Jae's stuff or how he pry into his, Soon Joo & Min Jung's lives. Is he that bored Idk LoL? Does he have something to do with Jung Woo's death so he's keeping tabs? Or is it out of jealousy? 'Cause right now I cannot make sense of any of his actions. He really does have a very weird face LoL.

Uh-oh will Soon Joo's nosy sis tell on Jung Soo to his mom!? And it's great that Soon Joo is thinking of gettin' a job. He's such a precious one eheh.

My heart breaks for Bu Jung's dad in next week's preview ...

In Episode 13 the assistant manager nailed it when evaluating Jung Soo's life LOL. To the point where he said, "And it feels like you have a secret between the two of you. I don't know what, but knowing you, it's trivial." :D

Episode 14 was probably the most engaging episode in the entire series for me. To find out that Nam Hee Sun worked for the young actress before BJ did, and got hurt and fired? Goodness. BJ was so honest to say that she met Hee Sun in a suicide club. I know suicide is unfortunately rampant in Korea, but I didn't expect her to share so openly about it with that actress.

And the trio of A Ran, her husband, and the young actress is even more meaty than Gang Jae, Just, and Min Jung. It disgusts me that A Ran and her husband (and the younger actress) lie and cover up her husband's violence! You would think that after getting beaten up herself that A Ran would try to protect the young actress. It's weird that her husband and the actress are having an affair so openly, too....there's no thought of hiding it from A Ran. It's bizarro-world. And the young actress suffers for it.

We didn't see Just hurt his leg onscreen, right? That was a weird side story.

Yeah....he's also behaving strangely. Although, in Episode 14 he hinted that he kind of fell in love with A Ran. If that's the case, then ruining BJ is something he's committed to...and he's wondering why neither Jung Woo nor Gang Jae ever gave him any dirt on BJ. Something is going on with BJ that makes JW and GJ protective of her.

Regarding his face....I do think it's the eyebrows. :D
