Hi! I'm a new fan. I've been lurking for a few weeks. Thank you everyone for all the updates and discussion. This is a great community.

 

So I don't show up empty handed, I found an old ZYL interview from 2015:

 

It's quite long, and he talks quite a bit! (Well, compared to how much he talks in interviews these days.) It's not translated, but I remember someone on this forum asking how he injured his back. Around the 17:45 mark, the host asks him this exact question.

 

(Rough translation, since my Chinese is pretty basic. Parts that I'm not sure about are in [brackets])

[At 17:45]

Host: How did you injure your back?
ZYL: It's actually an accumulation from all the back to back filming. I've been too busy this year. After finishing [???Don't know which show he mentioned], I had 2 more dramas and a movie. A lot of them were wuxia. From falling off horses and falling down [in scenes?], these types of injuries are very common. I don't know why, because I finally got a few days off, but today my back hurts. 
Host: I think if this pain continues, you should probably go see a doctor. Because acting is a profession where you really need to take care of yourself. My friends tell me that the acting profession forces you to take care of every aspect of yourself.
ZYL: I'm kind of lacking in this department. I'm not really good at taking care of myself.
Host: What about protecting yourself?

Host: I've heard others say that [acting a scene? role? relationship?] is hard, but exiting is even harder. Is that true?
ZYL: It's hard for me to exit an entire role/character, but for [emotions? scenes?], I'm okay. Exiting a character is harder, it takes me a little while. I don't feel it myself, but my family tells me so. After I'm done with filming and they call me, or I go home, they say I'm different. I really don't notice it though. They say I'm not quite right/I'm a little off.

Instead I just saw on YT that are available entirely uploaded full HD with eng sub Xin Xiao Shi Yi Lang (新萧十一郎- The Shaw Eleven Lang), I tried to watch few episodes last month I think... but then I quitted... it's difficult because ZYL isn't the main actor... and isn't always on screen... I should probably watch it skipping scenes and just watching the one with ZYL LOLOL

 

@katthy  there is english sub for Border Town Prodigal on YT but its only until episode 21 I think. Which should give you an idea of how tragic his character is so the subsequent episodes you can forward just to see his acting skills and love scenes with both female leads. LOL. There are a few clips just of ZYL and him with the female leads on YT so once the eng sub runs out, you can watch these instead!!  

 

Royal Sister Returns is subbed up to ep 20 - its called The Princess is Back though on YT - and again I think its sufficient just to watch ZYL. He has great chemistry with Ady An and their interactions in the first 12-15 episodes are golden - it goes fairly dogblood in any case from then on so again FF button just to his scenes should be sufficient.

By the way regarding The Lost Tomb, since there is a "reboot" tagging in the title, are we sure that the adaption ZYL acts on is not the first arc? Because I have tried watching Tomb Raider movie and The Lost Tomb season 1. Sadly, I don't like the Wu Xie character there. Too naive for my taste, thus I hope that ZYL will play a matured Wu Xie instead.

The MV is actually a compilation of his older late night movie, about 6-10 years ago when he is still rather raw but I believe it is those movies that make him develop his acting skills. 

Unfortunately I don't think a lot of his drama have sub...

Wu Xie's character should be complicated enough for your taste since The Lost Tomb season 1 and the movie I believe is about when he is still naive but Reboot is about 10 years later...A lot of things happened to him and his friends so he is no longer 'innocent'...I heard it should be a complex character so I am looking forward to it!

Please reconsider watching Xin Xiao Shi Yi Lang and feel free to skip as many scenes as you like as I abused the fast forward function though out the drama and his character is a bit boring at the beginning since he doesn't come out often but I love the last part since it does focus on him a lot lol And here's a mv to motivate you lol

If you are Mac user, go with iMovies, if you are PC user, go with https://www.shencut.com/ it's free and powerful, but not sure if it has English version a not...

I assumed everyone in this forums are girls  so am I, I live in Canada, but born in China so actually my Chinese is better than my English.

Hi! Please check on "dramamu". I found all three dramas there. Actually it is easier to find chinese drama with indo sub than with eng sub these days, especially for those unpopular drama (drama without idol). I am very surprised at this. A couple of dramas like Xuan Yuan Sword - Han Cloud and The Legend of Jade Sword, I cannot find those in eng sub at all. But then suddenly I found those in indo sub ....

This sentence.... I want to say something that I've always thought about this. I've already hear in another interview, about this ZYL's difficulty ... and considering how much more talkative he was in the past (even in this interview), and considering that I start to know him after Guardian and I started to watch A LOT of his interviews with Bai Yu... I definitelly noticed the difference in terms of talking...  
So.. .what I thought, is... that he really got into Shen Wei character, maybe even too much, that after, was very difficult to him going out.. I believe that he has got difficulties to getting out of it for a while... right because he's less talkative than how he was before, exactly like was of few words Shen Wei...   just my humble opinion... I could be wrong but that's the feeling that I've got...
Or maybe... all the increasing success that he got after Guardian... got him more shy and made him less talkative... ehehehe... who know LOL
