after the marriage of asule and yuran, QingYang should send the cavalry (50k?) to xiatang as a part of deal, but they didnt send any .

if the qingyang-er didnt  want to send , why they agree with the deal from the beginning?, that's make Asule spent so many years in vain in eastland

btw,

does Yuran know martial arts? it seems that early chapter she know martial arts, later... she transform and become like a lady who doesnt know at all

@a_tumiwa The agreement is for Qingyang to send 5000 soldiers of the Tiger Panther cavalry. I don't recall it being mentioned that none were sent. I believe the soldiers in the initial agreement must have already been sent, else Duke Baili would not have held his peace as long as he did. Certainly, LGC's uncle who escorted him to the Eastern Lands brought along over a hundred soldiers of the Iron Army which he handed over to LGC during the battle at Gubei Pass, so it is inconceivable that the agreed upon soldiers did not travel to the Eastern lands either.

I don't think YR knows any real martial skills, though she is certainly adept in escaping from trouble, and she definitely does not lack for courage as seen when they helped LGC fight the Chiya who killed Suma. YTZ described the Goddess of War as wearing lacquered armour woven with golden silk, shooting steel arrows from a green jewelled bow. In addition, the book also describes the Goddess of War as having incredible martial powers. As such, once YR became the Goddess of War, she would have inherited the powers and skills as befitting her role as the guardian of Qingzhou.

They were filming for ages, Song Zu'er seems to indicate 9 months? which is a lot. So they likely extended the episode cut after they finished filming and editing it. SARFT would never extend your dramas for you, it's investors who do. But yeah, this series have 6 books compared to Tribes and Empire's 1, so there's plenty of source material to draw from, just a matter of how you adapt it. Side note, Ever Night is 3 times as long as Eagle Eye (380mil characters vs 124mil), so the decision to do 3 season split is pretty wise.

380 million? is that information accurate?

one of Jin Yong's work, the Legend of the Condor heroes, has less than 1m characters (900k+) , i dont think Novoland Eagle Flag is 400x thicker than LOCH

I missed decimal points there (also struggle to translate numbers across systems lol) XD 3.8mil and 1.2mil. They are longer than Jin Yong's work though, yeah.

This drama is not so bad. Although I lost interest at EP 20+ coz I realised my cutie pie prince wasn’t getting his cutie pie girl (btw does anyone think that YR looks like a very young Cecilia Chung with a round poofy face n a teeny mouth much like a cartoon hamster or beaver....so cute!)....

...I abandoned the drama n watched Nivarna in Fire 2 to see my cutie pie prince get his girl this time (another cute round poofy face!). After I was done with NIF2 I missed my boy so much I decided to continue with  NEF...telling myself it’s ok my boy doesn’t get any girl.....sob.

Lo n behold a beeyoutifoo Princess appears n she so obviously n sincerely loves Asule so dearly and purely. Little frowas burst from within my heart!! I’m so happy there’s a ship again! I think XZ is so cool n smart! I love her to bits and totally give my blessings for her to be with Asule. Poor kids Living in those turbulent times really need each other. But I know (even tho I’m at ep 49 only)! (Coz I’ve reading the posts here) that alas theirs is not a happy together ending. Sob.

Nevertheless becoz of these 2 the drama is so much more watchable. I find the drama too dark....both literally n figuratively. for eg to me, YR’s fate is horrifying! What a sad sad sad future! Living in solitude in an ugly place eating horrible jellies. And this writer is sadistic to say the least to pick the most cheerful & carefree character to be incarcerated like that.

JY’s fate is only slightly better....his dream girl turned into a freaking bird! Wth!

As for My boy n her gal.....sigh....what’s wrong with this writer seriously? I hope another writer takes over and finishes the story on a much happier note. There are 2 pairs of lovebirds (no pun intended vis-à-vis YR ;P) readily available and so perfect for each other n so in love.....Not difficult to write this part 2 of the story and give the 4 a happy ending! They deserve it given the hell they’ve gone thru n how good these pp are.

The lack of news with regards to the release of Novoland Eagle Flag's instrumental soundtrack is ominous, even more so when considering that Love & Destiny which aired and concluded around the same time, and which soundtrack has the same composer as NEF, already has its soundtrack album released (albeit with only 12 songs) soon after the series ended. I am slowly losing hope that we will ever have the chance to hear NEF's instrumental soundtrack in its entirety, if any at all, which is truly a shame as it boasts some truly breathtaking motifs. Hopefully this is not the case, and it will see the light of day, soon.

Am following the re-broadcast currently, and despite the unevenness of the execution, the heart of the narrative does not fail to draw me in, and I end up missing this universe and the bonds that define it still. Watching the Nanhuai trio in happier times is bittersweet, knowing that fate would tear them apart as they come into their destiny. And it is doubly poignant that Yuran, the most carefree of them all, the one whose only wish is for them to never be apart, would be fated to spend the rest of her life isolated from the world and everyone she loves - never to see them again, forced to shoulder and find fulfillment in her responsibility as the sentinel of her people for the remaining days of her life.

Congratulations to the cast and crew for winning Best Direction and Best Visual / Special FX at the 2019 Asian Academy Creative Awards! Well done indeed!

I had a quick glance through the rest of the winners, and I don't think I am biased when I say that I don't think some of the winners are actually better than Novoland Eagle Flag's. In any case, congratulations to all and I look forward to their future works.

Meanwhile, I am still hoping against hope that the instrumental soundtrack will somehow, someday, be released.

Hi

I just finished watching this drama but I'm not sure if it was the last episode that I watched. It ended abruptly with the war between Asule & the wolf tribe. Ji Ye came to help Asule to fight against that old man. Then screen went black n next shot is green land n the show ended. :blink:

Is that how it is supposed to end???

@cheekychipmunk_stv Unfortunately that is exactly how the drama ended. The book ends in a similar fashion, except there are more explanations about what happened after as described in my post here@FightSphere457 gave a very insightful analysis into the clues as to who won the battle in this post. Similarly, the changing of the seasons from winter to spring, and the reappearance of Asule's pet which he let go during the battle at Gubei Pass are other clues.

Explanations notwithstanding, I too am irked with how abruptly it ended, which is so anti-climatic after the buildup to the final battle. especially since there is not even any footage of the actual battle itself. That being said, this drama still holds a place in my heart, plotholes and all, because when all's said and done, I still find myself caring for most of the characters, particularly the 4 young leads, and they are the ones who keep me in this universe in spite of it all. I can't help but wonder if the entire viewing experience would have been made better had we been given the originally intended 68 eps. Oh well...

Just when I had pretty much given up hope of ever seeing it come to pass, a 14 track selection from the instrumental soundtrack + 抹马 the theme song was finally released 20 Jan 2020!  It is by no means comprehensive, and I'm a little disappointed that some of my favourite pieces are not included, but the very fact that it is released gives me renewed hope that Xigua Music would be kind enough to release the full soundtrack.

Some of the tracks I love include:

The hauntingly poignant motif of 吕归尘 Lü Guichen that accompanies him, and later XZ, particularly in their parting moments...

沉睡的心脏 Heart in Slumber brings back memories of YR confronting JY in the rain before returning his mask and leaving in sorrow.

Meanwhile the heartbreaking strains of 青阳魂 Spirit of Qingyang will always remind me of the moment Suma is struck down on the way to the Eastern Lands...

Apart from the rousing opening theme 青铜之血 The Bronzed Blood, others are the epic 天驱 Tianqu which accompanies the battle scenes, particularly the showdown in the finale, when we hear the thundering hoofbeats of the Tianqu warriors riding to Qingyang's aid in their dire hour of need.

圣殿 Holy Temple depicts the moment YR finally embraces her role as Goddess of War in the ancient temple as she severs all ties with those she loves. Likewise, it is the theme that plays when JY and LGC fought each other almost to the death in the capital competing for the right to control the palace guards. On the other hand, 铁皇 Iron King (YTZ) includes the soaring theme as LGC writes his final words to XZ, YR and JY prior to his execution.

So many soundtracks that I wish made the cut but did not. These include the aching theme that is always reminiscent of XY and SSQ's love, especially their parting when he begs her to turn back just once, but she never did. Also all variations of the theme of the Winged tribe when YR falls into a trance and performs the dance for the first time; the moment the Snow Crane warriors awaken from their petrified state; when JY bids his final farewell to YR at the doors of the temple; when XZ runs to LGC when she hears he has woken from the devastating battle with LBC... the list goes on. Even so, I am so grateful that these 14 tracks were released after almost 5 months, so perhaps one day, we will hear the instrumental soundtrack in its entirety.
