Yoo Ah In, Im Soo Jung, And Go Kyung Pyo Confirmed For Upcoming tvN Fantasy Drama

tvN’s upcoming drama “Chicago Typewriter” (tentative title) has officially confirmed its main cast.

Yoo Ah In, Im Soo Jung, and Go Kyung Pyo have been confirmed to appear in the upcoming drama. According to a source, they will be having their first table reading this week and will meet with the rest of the cast as well as the production team.

Yoo Ah In is set to play Han Se Joo, an idol in the literary world who is a best-selling writer. With looks that rival the visuals of celebrities, he has a ton of fans, but he is sensitive, rough, timid, and extremely depressed on the inside.

Im Soo Jung will be playing a character who is a legend in veterinary medicine and is also a literary fanatic. Rather than placing her bets on the future, she only focuses on faithfully living in the present.

Go Kyung Pyo stars as Yoo Jin Oh, a ghost writer with a genius writing style. He is a jazz maniac and a lover of antiques. He is a mysterious character who jokes around and lies with a completely serious facial expression.

Yoo Ah-In, Lim Soo-Jung and Ko Gyung-Pyo are now all cast in upcoming tvN drama series “Chicago Typewriter.”

For the upcoming drama series, Yoo Ah-In will play lead male character Han Se-Joo. He is a popular bestselling writer with a good appearance. He is also overly sensitive and sometimes downright mean. Lim Soo-Jung will play female lead character Jeon Seol. She is a student of veterinary medicine. Due to an incident, she becomes an anti-fan of best selling writer Han Se-Joo. Meanwhile, Ko Gyung-Pyo will play second lead male character Yoo Jin-O. He is a highly skilled ghostwriter. He is also a mysterious figure. All three of these characters are reincarnated from the 1930’s to the present day.

Perfect combination of cast from aH in, Soo jung and Kyung pyo,with one of my favorite writer of #themoonembracethesun. I hope #chicagotypewriter drama will be another my favorite rewatch like #TheMoonEmbraceTheSun (rewatch it like million times) lol

Less than a week after his bone tumour diagnosis was revealed, Yoo Ah-in has accepted the lead role in "Chicago Typewriter". Korean netizens feel played by a PR campaign.

"Chicago Typewriter" will mark Yoo Ah-in's first acting job since he finished filming "Six Flying Dragons" at the end of 2015. His intention was to begin mandatory army service after finishing the action sageuk, but a persistent shoulder injury has repeatedly postponed enlistment.

Along with Yoo Ah-in, Im Soo-jeong and Ko Kyeong-pyo are also confirmed leads for "Chicago Typewriter". The first table reading is scheduled for this week.

tvN gathered such a fantastic cast now hope for the script to deliver....This year started so good,with lots of amazing projects so i can't wait to see what they got in store for us and always happy when we're presented with original content and tvN is one of the stations that like to experiment...Another plus will be the time period...My only wish now is for Yoo AhIn to be healthy and in full form and out of danger...

I have no idea what's going on the sides about Yoo Ah In.. but  fingers crossed this will be a good drama.  But I read page 1 fantasy fusion rom-com. Is it really rom-com? I'm only fan of the genre when it's done right.  Script better be good.

I have faith in the scriptwriter because I loved her previous dramas. Both Moon Embracing the Sun and Kill Me Heal Me had solid scripts.

So this is not set in the 1930's but the characters are the reincarnated versions of those from the era? Also what does it mean by fantasy fusion? (this was the genre listed on the first page)

 Yes, from my understanding the plot is set in modern times. The characters are reincarnated writers from 1930. I took the genre from the translation of Dramabeans. 

A fusion fantasy is a drama that has a base of fantasy and combine different genre in it. I read a better explanation in this article.

Because it is a fantasy drama, the writer has the opportunity to get further a typical rom com but who knows? I think I will change the genre in the first page as a fantasy romantic comedy drama to not confuse people any further.

Thanks @larus & @bebe1989, so I Guess there might be some flashback to the 1930s but drama will be set in modern times.
