Disney+ has shared new stills from its upcoming drama “Red Swan”!

“Red Swan” will tell the story of Oh Wan Soo (Kim Ha Neul), a former golfer who enters high society when she marries the heir of Hwain Group. After her life is threatened due to a fierce battle over succession, Wan Soo comes face-to-face with the Hwain family’s secret due to her bodyguard Seo Do Yoon (Rain).

The newly released stills depict the precarious marriage between Oh Wan Soo and her husband, Hwain Group’s heir Kim Yong Guk (Jung Gyu Woon). The photos highlight the conflict and tension stemming from the love triangle between Oh Wan Soo, Kim Yong Guk, and the unwelcome intruder Jang Tae Ra (Ki Eun Se).

In the first still, Wan Soo and Yong Guk are seen smiling affectionately at each other, embodying the image of an elegant chaebol couple.

In the following set of photos,  Yong Guk stands with his back to Tae Ra, who seems to be lost in thought. Later, Tae Ra is captured boldly glaring at Wan Soo through an open door, piquing curiosity as to how this love triangle will end.

Am I the only one thinking that Do Yoon and Wan Soo did sleep together?

Spoiler

I am thinking so because when he left she was in her night clothes (not the same ones she had when entering the room), and that was sexy looking and because her bed was undone, as if it had been used. In a hotel of that standing, with VIP guests, they do the bed every day, systematically. For it to be undone in the evening means that it was used recently (maybe before she went to the party, one could argue, but that wouldn't explain why the camera zoomed on it). Additionally, the way they looked at each other was really awkward the next morning.

Thoughts?

I thought so too!!:joy: the drama is kind of tacky in an old school KDrama way, but I loved the way that scene was shot, a slow mo split screen... Probably the best part of both episodes for me.

The fact that this drama is old school is making me want to watch it. But am seeing some bad reviews online. Should I still try to watch it?

I know @joccu is also contemplating whether to start it or not.

Watch it! Lol. There's nothing to lose since Korea is having such a bad run with dramas at the moment anyways!:joy:

I understand the bad reviews. However , I don't think it's that terrible. It's just kinda over the top and formulaic, and will definitely not be a life drama. I don't know why Kim Ha Neul took the role, unless it was for the money.

I think its how the characters are written....honestly there were some cringe worthy moments but i'm trying to see how it works out. Yes i am surprise KHN took up this role....could be for the money or maybe because it was a Disney Plus production? Either way its only 10 episodes, so i guess i can watch it all...

I like the morning awkwardness, I think she was embarrassed by everything she said the night before. :D

Watch: Rain And Kim Ha Neul Showcase Dedication Behind The Scenes Of “Red Swan”

Watch: Rain And Kim Ha Neul Showcase Dedication Behind The Scenes Of “Red Swan”

Following its premiere last week, Disney+’s “Red Swan” has provided a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of its first two episodes!

“Red Swan” tells the story of Oh Wan Soo (Kim Ha Neul), a former golfer who enters high society when she marries the heir of Hwain Group. After her life is threatened due to a fierce battle over succession, Wan Soo comes face-to-face with the Hwain family’s secret due to her bodyguard Seo Do Yoon (Rain).

Spoilers

The newly released video highlights how dedicated the actors are during the filming process. It kicks off with scenes designed to replicate a rainy street in the Philippines. As the staff members spray water to create the atmosphere, Rain stands in the rain to soak himself. Then, he continues to perform running sequences despite the chilly weather and wet conditions. Even during breaks, he is seen collaborating closely with the martial arts team to prepare for his action scenes. Rain engages in rigorous and repetitive rehearsals, displaying his strong work ethic and commitment to his performance.

In the subsequent scene, Kim Ha Neul and Jung Gyu Woon, who plays Kim Yong Guk, are shown preparing for a dance sequence at the banquet. The two actors actively exchange ideas and receive guidance from their coach. Their diligent preparation clearly pays off as they visibly improve and confidently display their skills once filming begins.

The video also demonstrates that the actors’ enthusiasm does not diminish even as filming continues late into the night. While preparing for the scene where Do Yoon escorts a drunken Wan Soo home, Rain and the director engage in lively discussions, sharing insights on how to make a better scene. They even participate in short rehearsals together, with the director stepping into Kim Ha Neul’s role.

Watch the full video below!

The next two episodes of “Red Swan” will be released on July 10.

I love your explanation too, and it is definitely supported by the lack of visual confirmations that something did happen. I think the writers have our/my imagination running wild with those scenes! 😄
Yes, amazing shot! Both your explanation and Rain's posture in that image make the bodyguard quite a hot and classy person!

I watched ep 1. @lilyphenix @rocher22 @joccu @africandramalover @SuZy Leoo

Thoughts:

  • It really does feel old-school. The first scene of ep 1 showing what is going to happen instantly made me think of old makjang dramas - lol
  • For supposedly being a successful pro-golfer and chaebol daughter-in-law, I find it surprising that she spoke in Korean in front of the UNICEF
  • Rain in a stubble?!?!? :scream: I couldn't really enjoy it because I was busy being shocked over the fact that he was riding a motorcycle without a helmet :rage: Also, he's still looking so thin - I miss his old weight :bawling:
  • This poor actress Seo Yi Sook is always playing the evil mother-in-law. Or any evil person really.
  • The editing is so choppy in this drama? I mean, who's in charge of it? Even reels on Instagram are better edited than this?
  • I don't know why, but I keep laughing every time a romantic scene comes up. It's just too over the top.:joy:
  • Glad that the FL isn't too much of a wall flower. She does seem to have some spunk.
  • Where has the husband actor been for so many years? He had a hiatus from 2017 until now.
  • What happened to their son?
  • Since when has the Philippines only been inhabited by white people?

  • Yes, that shocked me too (she did spend years in the United States), including what looked like a lack of cultural awareness in touching the Saudi Prince and even embracing.
  • The editing also shocked me, especially for a drama selected by Disney+ (aren't they paid enough money??). I'm thinking of turning any rocky scene transition into a drinking game: a shot of tea every time the music stops suddenly, the screen suddenly gets black and silent for a second or two (it feels longer, lol)!
  • Love the showdown with the MIL
  • Some people criticized the FL acting in the drunk scene, but I thought she was pretty convincing with her body language

Does anyone have any background information on the painting in the poster? It is titled Buried in Flowers, and is by Pavel Svedomsky. I am trying to understand the link between that painting, and the story...

Ep 2 thoughts:

  • The chairwoman is a lunatic - I think we can all agree on that. She is in serious need of anger management classes. Not that it would probably help as I'm pretty sure she's had quite a few people killed...
  • The BFF having an affair with the FL's hubby was no shocker. The only thing that made me grossed out was when the FL caught them having sex and immediately after grabbed his hand for a dance. All I could think about: did he even wash his hands after the sex act? 🤮 Eww
    tim-gunn-eww-gross.gif
  • Still haven't seen a single Filipino in this drama. Just a lot of white people waltzing?
Dance Spinning GIF by National Theatre
  • Still wondering what happened to her son?
  • Even though the FL claims that she knew her hubby was banging her BFF, judging from her reaction it's almost like it's untrue and she only now found out? What do you guys think?
  • @lilyphenix I didn't like the way the FL was playing drunk. She wasn't very convincing tbh. :grimace:
  • Also, it's a total #metoo moment that she's saying to her bodyguard who hasn't even been working 24 hours for her "Maybe I should sleep with you tonight."
Woman, that's your employee!!!!! Not okay to say that even if you're drunk!
  • I don't think that the husband is actually indifferent to his wife. I actually think he might still be in love with her, because he was clearly hurt that she seemed so indifferent about his affair.
Am wondering if they drifted apart because of whatever happened to their son, and the wife became so closed up that he couldn't reach her anymore?
As much as I would want to say that he is a barf cheating husband, I have a feeling that there's more to the story.
  • @rocher22 agree with you. They didn't sleep together.

For the next episode, I hope we get more of a backstory for our ML.

I am unfamiliar with the painting tbh, but it seems all the people are buried under thew flowers (this pic is backwards btw).

To me it doesn't look like a particularly happy pic. It looks like they've been indulging themselves and having too much fun. Too much of the good life and now it's over.

The painting is chaotic and somehow unpleasant regardless of the large amount of flowers.

I think it is the link with the drama.

The chaebol family has a perfect public image but ''Something is rotten in the state of Denmark''.

Agree with that too. And she already realized that in her hotel room.

But he is not only her employee.

They already had some attractive moments.

He saved her, she was in his house, she saw him shirtless and there were a few accidental hugs.  :D

And he is a nice guy.

:what!:
