PACHINKO Season 2 Has Moved Production from Vancouver to Toronto.

 

Starts Filming in 2023.

 

Apple TV+’s acclaimed Korean saga Pachinko has moved production from Vancouver to Toronto for season 2.

Toronto filming dates:  January 11 2023 – March 01 2023

Season one split filming between Busan, Korea, and Vancouver, but season 2 will split production between Busan, Korea and Toronto.

Apple TV+ Series ‘Pachinko’ Season 2 Complete Filming Schedule Revealed [Exclusive]

 

The complete filming schedule for the second season of Apple TV+ Drama ‘Pachinko’ has been officially revealed. Just like the first, Season 2 production will also take place in two different locations, but instead of Vancouver, it will be Toronto, Canada, and instead of Busan, South Korea, it is Japan.

‘Pachinko’ Season 2 will begin filming on January 9th in Mississauga, Toronto and after almost three months it will wrap the Canada shoot on March 27, 2023. The Japanese shoot is expected to begin on March 27th, which will wrap on June 16, 2023.

The first season of Pachinko premiered on Apple TV+ on March 25 of this year and was renewed a month later for a second season. The multi-language series has received stellar ratings from both the critics and the audience. It has a 98% critics score and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The 32nd Gotham Awards selected Apple TV+ original "Pachinko" and the movie "Decision to Break Up" as nominees on its YouTube channel on the 26th. 

 

The Gotham Awards is an independent film awards ceremony that is an indicator of the Academy Awards in the United States... At the 30th Gotham Awards, actress Yoon Yeo-jung was nominated for the Best Female Actor Award for "Minari."

"Pachinko," starring actors Yoon Yeo-jung, Lee Min-ho, and Kim Min-ha, has been featured in a groundbreaking series and a feature-length category for more than 40 minutes. The work competes with "Severance," "Station Eleven," "Yellow Jackets," and "This Is Going To Hurt."

 

Kim Min-ha, who plays Seon-ja, a teenage girl who went to Japan in search of a better life, was nominated as a TV performer for the acting award. Other candidates included Brit Lower of Severance, Matilda Roller of Station Eleven, and Joan Makklanon of Dark Wind. If she wins the award, Kim Min-ha will be the first Korean actress to win the Gotham Award for Best Actress in a TV Series.

“Pachinko” And Kim Min Ha Earn Nominations For The 2022 Gotham Awards

“Pachinko” has been nominated for this year’s Gotham Independent Film Awards!

 

On October 25 local time, the 32nd annual Gotham Awards announced the nominees for this year and “Pachinko” has earned two nominations.

 

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by MIn Jin Lee, “Pachinko” is a multi-generational saga of war and peace, love and separation, and victory and judgment that spans Korea, Japan, and the United States. The star-studded cast includes Youn Yuh Jung, Lee Min Ho, Kim Min Ha, and more. Earlier this year, the series was confirmed for a second season.

 

“Pachinko” has been nominated for Breakthrough Series – Long Form (over 40 minutes). The show’s star Kim Min Ha has also snagged a nomination for Outstanding Performance in a New Series.

 

“Pachinko” will be going up against “Severance,” “Station Eleven,” “This is Going to Hurt,” and “Yellowjackets.” Last year, the Gotham Awards eliminated gendered acting awards for the first time, so Kim Min Ha is nominated alongside both male and female actors. She is up against Bilal Baig (“Sort Of”), Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”), Janelle James (“Abbott Elementary”), Matilda Lawler (“Station Eleven”), Britt Lower (“Severance”), Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”), Zahn McClarnon (“Dark Winds”), Sue Ann Pien (“As We See It”), and Ben Whishaw (“This is Going to Hurt”).

 

Last year, “Squid Game” made history as the first Korean drama to win at the Gotham Awards after being awarded for Breakthrough Series – Over 40 Minutes.

Leanne Welham Will Direct ‘Pachinko’ Season 2 at Apple TV+ [Exclusive]

 

 

The production of ‘Pachinko’ Season 2 will be divided into two parts with two different locations and two different directors
 

The second season of Pachinko, which is currently preparing to begin production has hired Leanne Welham as a director. ‘Pachinko’ Season 2 is currently in pre-production, and the first leg of filming will begin in Toronto on January 9, 2023.

Leanne Welham will direct four episodes of the second season, which will shoot in Mississauga, Toronto, between January 9 and March 27, 2023. We are yet to get any update on the Japanese shoot, which is set to begin soon after the first half. We revealed the complete Pachinko Season 2 filming schedule last month.

Welham has previously directed three episodes in the second season of the HBO original, His Dark Materials. Her credits also include the Hulu original series, "Conversations with Friends," in which she has directed five episodes.
