Indeed the mom sent back the money but she tried to make GO feel bad about it. Her whole attitude made GO out to be the bad guy. She often tries to lamely scold her daughter but she would do anything for that daughter. She will make GO work like a dog to fund her daughter’s harebrained schemes. She’s exactly the type of character that can do the most damage because of her wimpy stance. Why doesn’t she encourage her daughter to look a decent legal job? The reason that nasty Wicked stepsister thinks she's a princess and deserves the moon in her teacup is because that's how her mother raised her. I see the stepmother as conflicted, knowing that what she is doing to her stepdaughter is wrong, but it is what has to be if her daughter is to get what is 'deserved.'  Stepmother also feels the same way about herself, we saw how she behaved when Heroine offered to buy her some clothes, she had to have the expensive stuff.  And then there is the grandson/son neither have lifted a finger to raise...

Finally watched episode 50 & 51 Binge watching dailies are best especially when the storyline is actually well written. Sure the story is crazy but I can see what the writer is doing. The love story between SA & GO will be in the back burner.

Eldest Son’s wife Min Joo

This woman is greedy and maybe that is why hubby was always cheating on her. I loved the fact that Mr Boo accept that he did like treat her like a daughter not a DIL but it seems he knew she had faults too.  To find out from the horses mouth, she married her hubby because he had money.  Now thinking back how she said she tried to love him, I kinda don’t believe it now. I think her not being able to have kids is her karma for not being sincere. 
Cha Jung- Gun - - > He is not an honest man. It may be possible he changed his name to avoid from paying child support. His name should be Lee Something. I didn’t want to believe it because “ HOW THE HELL GO NOT RECOGNIZE HER EX BROTHER IN LAW”  it seems so WEIRD RIGHT!!  Then I remember this so typical of korean drama. It Si possible not to know a sibling’s husband face or name. Smh smh smh  

Someoe said it is possible that they both were in love , Min Joo dumped him for the Eldest Son. Then he married So Young.  But how is this possible when she know him by his fake name not his real name. Or did he use a fake name to marry So Young.  Smh smh  I THINK THEY MAKE A GOOD COUPLE? THE ARE BOTH LIARS. This is a really complicated storyline. 
Baek Doo just disappeared after finding the divorce notice. He doesn’t even try to talk to her. I wonder where the hell is je? Is he spending time with his first love or he is looking for evidence to help him in his divorce.  I am dying to know what he is up too. 
Han- Ra , is finally maturing and still love money. Second son (Geum Kang )isn’t completely greedy. He has a soft side for his brother . I am so happy to see Mr Boo give him some attention. That boy has really been craving it. I think the people who were watching him weren’t sincere.

 To be honest I disliked the stepsister and stepmom from the beginning. The lack of respect they gave GO made me so upset. Smh smh 

We find out that GO’s father died three years later after getting married. Listening to her talk on episode 50 made feel bad for her. Her fear of losing this family is very strong. SA tried to help her finally make that decision to finally let go but she still held on.

I feel the time for her to let go, will come soon. I think it might even start from this episode. You see they don’t appreciate her and expect her to always give them money.  SY keeps wondering where GO got the money to get them a house. Instead of being happy , she only think is getting money from her. She actually thinks GO is hogging all the money for herself.  Jung Min Hee always believes her daughter and only think of her needs. I sometimes wonder how the hell did GO feel seeing her giving her own daughter everything nice and she probably got hand me downs. To find out she is also paying for her nephews school fees meanwhile SY’s

 mom is just selling  FAKE GOOD AND STAY AT HOME TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO ENHANCE HER BEAUTY. It made me so 

 

Remember how GO asked SA to let keep with the act because she can finally breath. She wasn’t ready to go back to her life. It brought me to tears .

@UnniSarah, I love your post. I was patient with the stepmother but I’m at the end of that patience. Today’s episode will likely be a painful one for GO but I hope it results in GO letting go of that rope like SA advised. The stepmother will undoubtedly make GO feel like she committed a crime and GO will blame herself but I hope it passes soon. The stepmother and stepsister are all for what they can get out of her. Worse if they feel she married a rich husband, they’ll be expecting a handout. I just hope this will be the final straw that wakes GO up to stop allowing them to use her. She entered the fake marriage because she wanted to give them some place decent to live and she wanted to give the stepmother a store to run.

 

Min Joo and the chef indeed deserve each other. In the preview for today’s episode I saw she’s all elated because she feels she found stuff on GO. Since she’s exiting the family, I don’t see how any of this is her business anymore. I hope she’ll be out of the place soon. As to the chef, what a deadbeat father. He hasn’t paid child support all this time. Wow. And to think his son was there last week eating noodles at that shop. Shame on him. He better have a good excuse.

Look at this manipulative .... The way she speaks to GO obviously to guilt trip her. 

Jokes on them. SY thinks telling her to cut ties will hurt GO completely forgetting who's been the main bread winner, housing and feeding them all this time. GO too nice I'd have been doing a wee jig in her face like laters moocher. They know GO weak spot her fear of being left alone and they poke and squeeze it for everything they can get off the poor girl. Let's see how long their let's cut contact stance can last! GO still desperately clinging to that rope but the grip is slipping, really want her to cut them out completely for good. (The pessimist in me still think she be all smiley laughing with them by the end unfortunately) 

 

Snakey DIL over playing her hand. She is showing too much of her true colors whilst still in the hen house. She going end up with nowt cause even if she gets alimony  deadbeat dad going clean her out.

@tas82, I find it too difficult to watch today’s episode so I will wait until tomorrow or Friday when hopefully I don’t have to watch GO get squeezed by her awful step family and squeezed by gold digging DIL #1. I see in the preview GO see DIL #1 with her chef lover so hopefully that will be something the father can hold against DIL #1 if she gets too greedy. She’s still married so she would be equally at fault. 
 

I also hope that GO eventually lessen her ties with the step family. Maybe once she’s through with SA’s family they would actually become attached to her. Han Ra is making progress towards them and maybe eventually the others will come around.

She has already Got Ha Ra half won over and of course SA pretty much smitten. The progress  She makes  and how she goes about it with Twit Wife and Twit son will be interesting to watch unfold.  
 

Random observation: They Were  talking about boyfriends for Go( we Really need a nickname to separate her from her “Grand Mother“) Whoever it is will need A couple of jugs of water on hand she is so salty and spicy  LOL 
 

But the Babyship Between her and nephew is pretty fun:)

Guys, this drama has amazing ratings in Korea. Credit to Asian Wiki. I don’t know if it’s the time slot but wow, it’s always around 17% - 20%. In comparison Mom is Having an Affair ratings hover around 5% - 6.5% and Dangerous Promise 10% - 14%.

Compared to previous dramas in the same time slot, these ratings are pretty normal. 

Mom is Having an Affair has lower ratings because it is broadcast in the morning and targeted to people who stay home (like the elderly, stay at home wives,etc). The ratings for the Fatal Promise time slot could be due to timing. Fatal Promise is broadcast earlier at 7:50 pm when people might still be eating dinner. Brilliant Heritage is broadcast later at 8:30 pm.

Oh, thanks for the information. So it is the time slot. I definitely expected something like Dangerous Promise which I assume is makjang on steroids would slay in the ratings. It’s ratings isn’t bad though. 
 

I like that this drama isn’t crazy like Shady Mom or Love Until the End. Too aggravating.

No worries! My guess is that people sit around the TV after dinner and watch Brilliant Heritage :)) 

 

I agree with you. My first foray into daily dramas was Shady Mom and it was so frustrating and makjang but in a boring way that it drove me back to watching 16 ep dramas sigh. I was so traumatized that Brilliant Heritage is my second daily drama haha

My only other daily drama and one of first dramas was called a fine day for wind or happy windy day or something I can’t even remember. Lots of shrieking and faked pregnancies and Mary Sue Orphans  and mean mothers in Law.  It was looong. 200?? Episodes.

This show is my fourth daily so far in progress. I put Mom is Having An Affair on hold. I can’t stand watching the evil stepmom orchestrate murder and other crimes. It’s too much to sit through.

@celebrianna  @watchumlots How did you like Episode 52? We got our wish. @RobinM @heartslined I consider this a light drama with a message that we the viewers can learn from. 

I feel bad and I am joyous for them deciding to break ties with her. The funny thing is , They have no idea , everything they have now doesn’t belong to them at all. It all belongs to GO , once she finish helping Mr Boo they will have to find their own home since cutting ties with her. So Young sure was quick in cutting ties with her. I find it so funny, that SY actually believe she “ WILL LIVE A BETTER LIFE WITHOUT GO”. I believe SY went to that restaurant on purpose just so she can see if GO is really there. I truly dislike her. 
Do you all believe they will live better without GO? I think it is the opposite GO will live a better life. 
I was so conflicted by GO’s stepmom words. It felt like she was setting her free but A part of me wished she would have given GO the space she needed instead of breaking it. This freedom she will get will be so beneficial to her , that once she leaves Mr Boo’s family. She won’t allow herself to be leeched upon by her step family any more.  Once the mom learns the truth, she will feel more awful than how she feels now. Park Sun-Cheon ( Jung Min-Hee ) is a good actress.  She is able to make me dislike her character. You know JMH is truly the type of woman who needs to be taken care of. 
 

Let’s talk about SA. This guy he acts like a teenage boy.  Every chance he gets, he likes to pick on GO. He hasn’t even noticed he is strange behavior toward GO. I can’t wait for him to figure it out.  His daughter noticed his behavior is very weird ans she will be the second one to notice that he likes GO. 
Boo Ga On will be 

I loved Love Till the end.

@UnniSarah, I did love the OTP in Love Til the End. My complaint was the villain girl and Emily. I can’t remember the villainess name.

 

I didn’t watch episode 52 yet. I thought GO would be falling all over herself to atone with her step family so I didn’t feel like watching it. However, now that you said they cut off GO, that’s the best news I have heard. In this way GO don’t have to fund their laziness. GO knows she spoilt them by allowing them to rely on her so I hope she won’t continue this practice by supporting them secretly through her friend, Soo Min. I really hope that this is it for GO. Once she gets together will SA she will have a new family any way.
