Article: Naver 'My Strange Hero' Yoo Seung Ho  Jo Bo Ah, resolves misunderstandings from 9 years ago.. "Sorry for asking so late"

1. [+782,-9]
Oh Se Ho is a psychopath. He was the one who spread the rumor, but pushed the blame to Bok Su. He stole the money and returned it on his own. He was the one who challenged him to a fight, but blamed it on Bok Su.

2. [+533,-8]
When they look at each other, it was so sad and pretty. ♡

3. [+312,-12]
This drama is so fun!!!!

4. [+259,-13]
When Jo Bo Ah and Seung Ho cried, I cried too. ㅠㅠ

5. [+205,-15]
Just by their looks, like for Yoo Seung Ho vs dislike for Park Bo Gum.

6. [+168,-1]
Yoo Seung Ho's gaze and tears are national treasures. There's a whole universe in his eyes.

7. [+165,-3]
It's nice to see them getting paired with someone of the same age group. My eyes are cleansed.

8. [+119,-1]
Yoo Seung Ho crying makes me feel like I'm looking at a gem. It's shining. It's the best of the best. Do I get to see them being lovey-dovey next week?

Article: Naver 'My Strange Hero' Yoo Seung Ho X Jo Bo Ah, reveal the reasons to their conflicts

1. [+326,-2]
Yoo Seung Ho and Jo Bo Ah cried while looking at each other. Their visuals are amazing...

2. [+188,-2]
I'm sure Bok Su wants to beat up Oh Se Ho so badly. He ruined his life, but became a Director, ordering others around.. Soo Jung-ah, stop believing Oh Se Ho. Who's the one making people turn on each other? Oh Se Ho-ya, get to your senses.

3. [+175,-3]
Ha, seriously. Isn't Seung Ho's face insane? My god.

4. [+131,-3]
Bok Su is too kind. ㅠㅠ

5. [+48,-1]
Yoo Seung Ho's acting is great.. His eyes, expressions, voice, tone, everything is great.

6. [+38,-2]
Yoo Seung Ho's face is crazy.. He's not human....

7. [+35,-0]
I was waiting for him to reveal that Oh Se Ho was the one who spread the rumor, but they didn't resolve the misunderstanding refreshingly. It was a little frustrating.

8. [+33,-1]
Why aren't they airing this on the 31st?  ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

9. [+28,-1]
Seriously, why does a makjang drama like 'The Last Empress' that has things like an affair, murder, corruption, all together in one has high ratings, but a drama like 'Strange Hero' that's sad and emotional has lower ratings? I don't get it. People are watching that weird 'Last Empress' drama, that's why the world is becoming heartless. Please, I hope dramas like 'Strange Hero' which is calming and emotional becomes a hit. And makjangs like 'Last Empress' won't be created again. Really...

Done watched ep 6 with English Sub.

I cried when Bok Soo was crying, how Bok So and SSJ survive during last 9 years really different, they survive with their own way, still can't move on from what happened nine years ago even when they are trying hard to let it go.

Jo Bo Ah acting really good, the scene where SSJ trying to hold back her tears in the class after Bok Soo expelled, very convincing. SSJ character choose to be ignorant to make everything seems smooth in her life. Se Ho really ruin Bok Soo and SSJ life, now I want to see how SSJ reject him. Finally SSJ ask the question to Bok Soo about what happened 9 years ago, SSJ saying sorry for come to ask so late, the ending scene on this episode really got me, the way Bok So and SSJ staring at each other with full of tears in their eyes, really sweet, their eyes, wow, their eyes saying it all, what a great actors they are. Can't wait for next episode, curious about the hardship they will face next since their misunderstanding already resolved.

Thank goodness the writer cleared up the misunderstanding early on...had she dragged it on for much longer I was in danger of disliking SJ too much for her to be redeemed as someone worthy of BS's love.  Haven't had the chance to watch last night's episode but have read recaps. :)

Just goes to show that it's never too late to say 'sorry'.  A heartfelt apology complete with genuine remorse can be reparative in relationships.  Especially if the person wronged has a big heart like BS.  :)

The guy playing Oh Se Ho is awesome. That creepy smirk... You can't help but hate the guy. Excellent acting!

Yoo Seung Ho's acting is fantastic. I love everything I've seen him in. One thing that's hard to portray is a character who's suffering internally and yet trying to look stoic on the outside. Often, the actors look wooden. YSH can pull it off, though. And of course there are the moments when he is just over the top in emotion, too, which perfectly fits the character. I dunno, I just *feel* a lot watching him act, and that's high praise as far as I'm concerned.

Something I find interesting about this drama is that it's a noona romance, without the squick factor. If he really WAS a high school student hitting on a teacher--ew. But he's actually her same age, even though the power levels are uneven at school. So I can like it and look forward to the payoff of them becoming equal eventually.

Their crying scene at the end of episode 6, really sweet, after a long time finally they clear up the misunderstanding. Their visual also no joke.

rtI see a lot of comments re: Soo Jeong being too smart to believe Se Ho and not Bok Su, but actually this is what I call "a smart mistake". Soo Jeong probably weighed both sides. Why would Se Ho, who was second in the school, wealthy and seemingly having it all, need to lie on Bok Su about a suicide/murder attempt? In her mind, it didn't make sense, but that is because Se Ho is just like her. He's a fake. He's walking around hiding behind his status, pretending to be something that he is not.

The person that he has shown her is not who he is, but she doesn't realize that. Soo Jeong is book smart, but when it comes to dealing with people, she is very dumb. She is not street smart at all, which is why she got scammed by that teacher. He lied and made her think all of those other teachers paid their way into permanent positions without so much as asking one of them if it was true, or even checking behind his story. Nope, she ran home, and emptied her halmoni's savings to get a job, unethically, at that. This is her biggest flaw. This is why she can't be trusted. She doesn't trust anyone and the reason why she was a contract teacher even though she was more than qualified to be permanent is because she didn't have the wherewithal to do better. That is why she got scammed. That is why the older teacher's were using her to do all of their work. That is why Se Ho put her over the lower class because he knew she was dumb enough to go along with it. Being book smart can only take you so far. You need mother wit to make it through life.

Se Ho saw through her because he saw himself in her. He knew she was sensitive about being poor. He knew that she didn't know that he knew all of these things about her, and that she thought only Bok Su knew that she was poor. Common sense should have made her confront Bok Su and just ask, "Hey, did you tell anyone else about my status, and where I live?" But her stupid pride kept her from dealing with it, and instead she went with what was easy. It was too easy to just assume Bok Su did it. It was too easy to go along with Se Ho. The sad part is, she hasn't changed. Even when the committee initially met over Bok Su breaking the glass, she sided with them. Soo Jeong is a coward who wants to create a persona for herself that she can't even fill. Her cosplaying has not gone well. Now, the fact that she may be wrong is keeping her up at night. This is not a test or a quiz. This is life. Wake up lady, there is a price to pay.

As far as Se Ho, he is weak. I know he doesn't want to admit that and he has been fighting against that truth, but all of his moves are from a weak standpoint. You fell for the girl your boy already liked and had a good rapport with. So, instead of stepping to Soo Jeong and confessing, he got rid of Bok Su and still didn't get what he wanted. He also hasn't changed or learned anything. Bok Su was right, he is just like his mother.

Finally watched last night's episode...  that final scene!

Mirrors the rooftop scene where the misunderstanding began in the first place.

1. SJ walking up stairs

2. She pauses at the doors - first time she goes through the doors to the rooftop, second time she wants answers from him but stops at the door to his house and never goes in when she overhears the effects of her actions (she tries to erase it from her mind - cover it up, ignorance is NOT bliss.), third time's the charm, she was ready to enter the doors of his house but is stopped by BS returning home.

3. They are in an elevated space when significant events happen in their lives...when he first tells her of his dream to be her boyfriend, the misunderstanding on the rooftop, and finally when they talk things through in the park overlooking the city.

The differences

- ironically the misunderstanding occurs in broad daylight.  When you would think you would see most clearly?  Instead, her disenchantment clouds her judgement and she doesn't 'see' him for who he is and misjudges him.

- the events when they are the most real and open with each other occur at night, when you would expect clarity to be an issue but no, it is when they are the most open and vulnerable to each other.

And it snows when they finally clear up the misconception separating the two of them.  The ice between the two of them thaws and we get a moment of magic...the heart flutters once more.

This from Wikipedia

A few more thoughts on Soo Jeong

SELF-CENTERED

She literally thinks everything revolves around her. For someone who has a complex about being poor, I find it interesting that she only saw what happened 9 years ago through her limited view.  Truthfully, her actions are confusing. She walked all the way up to the rooftop door and stopped. She could hear the back and forth between BS and SH and she chose to wait until the very end, when he fell back to appear. By then, all she saw was him falling. She didn't see BS turn around, go back, hold him by his tie, desperately try to grasp SH, she JUST saw SH falling. She didn't even actually see BS push him. With such a limited view, you would think that when she relayed what happened to the investigators, she would've said I never saw him push him. I just heard SH say this or that. And, how did she ONLY hear SH asking BS for help? They had a whole conversation before that, and she was on the stairs long enough to have heard some of it.

DUMB

There was a particular poignant moment in episode 6 when BS and SH were arguing and SH said, it doesn't matter if you tell SJ, she isn't going to believe you anyway. SH knew that SJ was gullible, that her deduction skills were limited to books. He knew that she was a fake and that her insecurities made her too dumb to actually seek the truth. He was right about her. Personally, I think that is what he likes about her. Unlike his mother, who is very cunning and calculating, SJ is the complete opposite. That is why the students liked her, she told them what they wanted to hear, instead of actually counseling them. I thought it was a joke that she bought SH's story of her getting the permanent position because she was a good teacher and saved that other student's life. It was because of her poor counseling that he ran to the bridge in the first place. Then she stupidly tried to pretend like she was going to commit suicide too. If those school officials got a hold of her messages she exchanged with that student, she would've been in big trouble. She handled it horribly! She doesn't ask questions. She doesn't seek the truth. She doesn't investigate. She believes everything. She is poor judge of character.

IGNORANT

Ignorance is worse than being stupid. Ignorance implies that you know something isn't right, but you are choosing to stay oblivious to it. SJ knew that BS pushing SH didn't add up, yet she chose not to say a word about it. She didn't talk to BS or SH. She just covered her ears and pretended like everything was okay. I had no empathy for her because all of her troubles are self-inflicted. Even if people want to argue that technically she wasn't BS's girlfriend, it is safe to say that they were friends. They spent time together. He made sure she was safe and showed her real genuine friendship. And in the twinkling of an eye, when her mask fell and her secret got out, she betrayed him. She betrayed him off of a lie of someone she wasn't close to. She owed SH nothing, let alone loyalty to believe whatever he said to her about someone she had spent intimate time with. BS knew she wasn't rich and still treated her like a queen. I found the revelation interesting. Those girls asked her if it were true she was living off of food stamps. How would BS know that? He only knew she wasn't rich. However, SH could have easily found out SJ was on government assistance with his connections. This is too big of a misunderstanding for her to just have a casual attitude and walk away. Even the guy at the convenience store told her that if you let a misunderstanding expire for too long, your heart will rot! So far, SJ has not shown she is worthy of being with BS. He is flawed in that he trusts the wrong people sometimes and he is way too forgiving. But, what you see is what you get. He is honest. He communicates. He is decent and has morals. I question all of these things with SJ.

I also question everyone else. All of those teachers just sat back and passively allowed this to happen. Did no one speak up for him. When his mother went to the school and knelt and begged them to give her son a second chance, my heart sank. More importantly, SH is fine. He did not die. He doesn't even look hurt. Eventually, the press is going to dig to find out why BS had to leave and boy oh boy is that going to be interesting.

Agreed on all points @nubianlegalmind BUT...he loves SJ.  Love is blind.  No matter how much logic we can punch into the list of wrongdoings and how she doesn't deserve him and how he could do better...truth is, he loves her regardless (I mean, look at poor MinJi - stood by his side all those years, defended him when everyone didn't and BS still hasn't clued in that if you go by logic, she's the #keeper?).  He is willing to forgive SJ.  Now if she turns around and slaps him in the face thereby negating all his good intentions by going off with rich trash SeHo...well...that would put her in the irredeemable in my books.  I was getting really angsty that the writer would prolong the misunderstanding much longer because once I get to that 'she's annoyed me so much that I can't bear to watch them get together in the end' stage...it's the point of no return and that's usually when I bail on dramas no matter how much I like the male lead.

I am hoping that SJ will lift her game and realize that she has been forgiven much, so she needs to love much.  I still find her very insecure.  What will she do when she finds out the money was given to her by SeHo?  I find it strange that she didn't tweak something was up when SeHo (I vaguely remember this but it happened so fast I am not sure I heard right) mentioned about BS painting her front door (or did he say it to BS?).  How would he know that unless he was stalking BS?  Nobody knew about her secret life and where she lived?

Just checkout this drama and I can say this is my no 1 favorite drama right now.

Normally, I hesistant to watch school type of drama as mostly rookie / idol actors are part of the main casting which is hard to appreciate/ watch at times.

For this 'BS's back, YSH & JBA are the best pairing in term of quality acting & visuals. The other supporting casts are exceptionally good too & blended in perfectly under the guidance of Director & good storyline by writer.

@nubianlegalmind I agree with your points. And I think the reason why SJ is the center of the drama's discussion and gets hate from viewers is due to the writer mistake. When I watch the drama I can't help to perceive the writing flaws, although the plot is fresh and has strong points. I think the biggest mistake is to make SJ such a flawed character that BS becomes too pure and SJ doesn't really deserve his love. The characters are not balanced out, so it is hard to root them as a couple. If BS was guilty and had betrayed SH or SJ was coerced into giving a false testimony for example, SJ wouldn't be hated so much. The discussion should be about the school issues, the mother of Seho, Seho... I mean the villains and people who expelled BS, not about the flaws of a character. This is where the writer has failed.  By making BS unpure too, we would have gotten a real love triangle, SH and BS characters would have more depth. This is the reason I haven't written a part 3 about BS, I haven't found anything interesting to discuss . His character is too pure that it is almost one-dimensional.  I like when drama characters have a lot of depth.

Some say despite all her flaws, BS is blinded by love and will love her .  Making such statement has the reverse effect on BS because that means he is such a fool in love and becomes numb/ignorant to the flaws of his loved one. He is far from being ignorant since he called SJ a fake, he knows she has insecurities about being poor, he knows she is too prideful to say thank you when she is grateful.  So he is more or less aware of her flaws.

The episodes 11-12 left me confused.  The writer has dragged the misunderstanding for 6/12 episodes,so almost half of the drama is about resolving the misunderstanding, which is too much IMO. Ending it at ep 5/10 episode would have been more convenient for the flow of the story. From the preview it looks like they are going straight into dating, hence I got confused about the real reason that BS asked  to SJ with persistence why she didn't believe him. Was it because he wanted closure or to forgive her and date her  ? For nine years he has been living in the past, it was long overdue that he turns the page , so the real reason was that he wanted that weight to be off  of his shoulders. Therefore,  going straight into dating is unnatural and unrealistic. The episodes 6/ 11-12 should have been about forgiveness, reklinding their feelings and falling  in love again.

I am anticipating  the next episodes because I am curious to know whether BS will tell her everything and how manipulative SH is. It looks like their lovey-dovey moments are the calm before the storm. Their relationship and trust in each other  will once again be tested, and this time SJ should prove that she is worthy of BS 's love and gets her redemption arc. SH might want to manipulate her once again if he finds out they have started dating. I think they will stop dating because of the risk of being exposed as a student-teacher couple and for the upcoming episodes we will see them suffering and suppressing their feelings for the sake of each other.
