Park Hae Jin is confirmed to lead in the new drama “From Now On, Showtime!” (working title)!

“From Now On, Showtime!” is a comical romance investigative drama in which the characters work together with ghosts. In addition to the romance between Cha Cha Woong (Park Hae Jin), a magician and employer who handles and manages ghosts, and a passionate female police officer with occult powers, the characters will have to solve a case they coincidently get swept up in by cooperating with ghosts to uncover clues.

 

Park Hae Jin will be playing Cha Cha Woong, a charismatic magician whose trademark is his scathing remarks that are even colder than his frosty appearance. With his outstanding magic skills, he performs on broadcasts and stages and has become a rising super star in the world of magicians.

Furthermore, Cha Cha Woong has the secret ability to see and talk to ghosts. Unlike previous K-drama characters who have been scared of ghosts, he’s a skilled figure who manipulates and uses the ghosts however he wants. The drama will depict the story of Cha Cha Woong getting caught up in an unforeseeable incident.

 

Having impressed with his diverse roles in “My Love From the Star,” “Bad Guys,” “Cheese In the Trap,” and “Man to Man,” viewers are curious to see Park Hae Jin’s next transformation.

“From Now On, Showtime!” is currently in the process of casting its actors, and the broadcast station and schedule is in discussion. The drama will begin filming at the end of August.

Oh yeah this explains it.  Tho XKL could have been groomed to do the business still so Keyao can get married early.  Their family has kind of a role reversal here.

I like this part actually.  He is subtle about his financial capacity.  Aside from being an accomplished police officer his family is quite of wealth.  The ring is quite something especially that Keyao jie gets to choose it.

Checking on it also, when they up the dramas on WeTV, VIPs get to watch the advance 6 episodes plus the recently airing first 2 and we get 8.  Since it's VIP we get to watch with subs as it airs, usually with some issues on the subs but overall it's okay.  What follows then are streaming sites grabbing the episodes with subs resulting to "leaked" episodes to non-VIP, non subscribers.  Reality!

True!  I was thinking this was gonna finish in a perfunctory manner, like let's just wrap it up but my golly the last two episodes left me wanting with a season 2.  I think this show can definitely do a another season.  I wanna see a Xing Kelei dad!  Since their occupation can give us more situational drama, another say 36 episodes is viable.

I love the company in these forums.  It was a grear but made greater while watching with you all.  It will be a long time before I could watch the same kind of drama with good quality and great acting from awesome actors. I could finally say in the end that every minute spent with the show is all worth it. No show had made me happy each and every tome 9 watch.

 

The OST are great as well.  Every song is worth your listening time.  I’m glad it’s available on Itunes.  I have never liked an OST as much since Bu Bu Jing Xin

First, I'm watching from Canada  so my time is way behind. So when Asia is watching, im sleeping lol. I also have to wait a day or 2 for dramacool to upload with subs. The wait is killing me!

 

I have mentioned on a few posts earlier.  The drama is available on WETV, if you're VIP, you get to watch the finale real time.  Fee is very minimal, i think my subscription is worth it, esp with YAMH.  As soon as the drama airs, dramanice dot so uploads it asap.

I was two hours late from the finale, dead tired from finishing a mock hearing session I need to submit.  But all my tiredness wiped away from the wonderful finale episodes.  I just like YAMH so much and MIka and Kelei.  Many are wishing for a season 2.  I would love to watch Xing KElei getting busy taking care of their kids.

 

This drama's strength is not on the kissing department, no, but the rest is just perfect and I don't mind.

Even though it's not over yet, I need to line up my next series. I'm watching Mr. Gu and Sunshine of my Life in between YAMH airing dates .  These shows are so predictable with the male lead actor being so domineering.  Storyline are always the same. 

 

YAMH is so different than those typical romance series....I have been so anxious waiting for new eps every Thursday. Can you recommend any similar type of series to YAMH to me? 

I think I'm going to start to rewatch the series again because it's that good! 

I am also watching Mr. Gu.  Yet to start on Sunshine.  Sighs it's gonna a serious withdrawal syndrome on YAMH.  I am so invested in this show so am gonna rewatch this from time to time.  This is just different.

 

I think I am gonna start on Vincenzo, dunno if this is spelled right.  I am waiting form some Kdrama to start.  I haven't gone to the soompi threads for a while prior to YAMH so if the drama is good I might catch up on you on other threads.  LOLs haven't even updated my threads.

Read somewhere that BJT was the most popular searched actor for March 2021 by Hunan TV... at least he is getting the recognition he deserved, and i do think its because of this drama rather than the other one..

I love their interactions and how comfortable they are.  It is wishful thinking but I want them to be together in real life hahaha so extended MK and XKL in RL.  

Happy to see him getting much recognition and yes I agree with you, it seems he is more popular with YAMH than the other show.

Thanks for the update on BJT's filmography.  I got that Little brother from Mydramalist.  Haoran and Wu Leo they name something like Little Heavenly Kings.  Gosh what's with all these titles.   

 

TBH, this is his only that caught my attention.  Even in Who's the Murderer, I didn't even knew him back then.  I watch for DL.  I checked Ordinary Glory before, office drama, more like kdrama Misaeng, but saw it for Mark Chao, only now I recognized that he was there.  No body shaming intended but he was awfully thin.  I think he buffed up for YAMH and Ping Pong.  I do hope he keeps this physique and get more romance themed dramas and YAMH kind of drama.

BJT is a great actor!  The nuances he showed made a big difference in him portrayal as Captain Xing Kelei.  I think I will check on him from time to time.  I had only been following Kdramas for decades hahaha yeah I am ancient.  I only follow Deng Lun after watching him in Ashes.  Maybe will add BJT on the list.  

Looking into his physique prior to YAMH, he sure did a lot of buffing up, he was so thin.

Watching eps 37-38, MK doesn't seem depressed with the earlier than hers wedding proposal. It was more like she was worried that she was not able to tell XKL about the Allen Medical Center application.  It burdened him what he will think if he knows about it.

I'm glad tho that our couple are open and discusses things.  No need for unnecessary misunderstanding. 

Uhm, I don't think we are going to get hot kisses in the coming episodes.  This drama is not heading on that department.  Even though that is the case, I will watch YAMH over those drama over and over.  There is just so much intimate and deep feelings involved that hit right through the core.

Since i dont know much about China's entertainment industry, and very little English write-up on BJT, how is that BJT is identified as a Flower Boy? He wasnt in a boy band right? Haha... Curious curious.... 

This is my first BJT show so I did look him up tho I dunno any Chinese also.  I read somewhere he is known as the nation's idol, have no idea how he was given that.  I only knew he was in a show titled Who is The Murderer since its inception which is running up to season 6 now.  Bai Rap is his name in the show, possibly because he raps.  He had other dramas as well prior to YAMH and the concurrently airing Ping Pong Life.  

 

IMO, it can be attributed to his physique.  BJT did a lot of buffing up to film these two dramas with him being a SWAT member here in YAMH and a pingpong player on the other drama.  Prior to this he was in the drama The Ordinary Glory with Mark Chao.  He was really very lean in that show, more of like a very thin... maybe just maybe just could have cast doubts on him for this show.  I can't also reconcile his image on Who's the Murderer while I was looking him up.  Of course these are all my subjective opinion on him.

I love this scene! There is just something about how he speak, how he hugs here that shows so much sincerity and love.  It tugs rights at my heartstrings.  I could feel how guilty and worries XKL is for MK, how helpless he had felt when he knew what MK went through.

It seems tho that Xia did note to MiKa that they know what they are into when they got into a relationship with the SWATs.

Perhaps its good that she is leaving, to sort out her feelings overseas before making decision...

I like this part, really, because as I have mentioned earlier, the drama shows us some realities in life.  We know that this is a drama and fictional but most of the times, the things happening here are very relatable.  That is what makes it endearing to me.  This show is for keeps in my list.

I had been wondering about this as well.  As far as I know the rank Captain, has only one Captain in it. Unlike the Lieutenant, Colonel and the General.

I think its nice that men helps out at the house but im seeing too many china dramas where male lead not only works but also cooks and clean the house... every woman's dream??

I think they want to emphasize by showing this how ideal Xing Kelei is, knows how to cook, cleans the house and basically knows everything.

Episode 38

 

Ke Yao asks Dr Shao if he was looking for a place to buy and tells him a friend recommended a place that looks suitable. Dr Shao asks her if the place will only 'accommodate' him? She pauses and says no, it's for the both of us. He is delighted and suggests a date that they can both take a look at it together. 

 

The rest of the video is about our second leads taking photos for their wedding album. At her (registration) reception, Qing Xia says she hopes her best friend, Mi Ka will be the next to obtain happiness (meaning to get married) and tells Ke Lei to be good to Mi Ka. Of course he says he will. And Qing Xia pushes them to have a 'couple's drink' (arms intertwined) and the rest of his team 

urge them on. Mi Ka objects but the couple say they don't mind. Next we see a plane in the air (Mi Ka must have gone for an exchange program/ further studies abroad?) and Ke Lei is crossing each day out. They have a video call and Mi Ka says she is  very committed to her studies (eating while studying?) and has lost weight, to which Ke Lei replies that she doesn't appear to have lost any weight. She threatens him to repeat what he just said and he laughs it off.

 

Episode 39

 

Mi Ka is back in China and rushing to board a bus that she has nearly missed. The bus driver seems reluctant to let her board but relents. It seems she is going to a place "Chang Gang" (Wiki says it's a station in Wuhan). Our dear girl sees a man grabbing another passenger's bag and tells the person seated next to her. (Mindless courage I have to say or blissfully ignorant of the consequences of her actions) She taps the shoulder of the person who took the bag, and somehow a gun is revealed (it's holstered on his waist). All hell breaks lose and someone gets shot (perhaps two, the baddie is more acutely wounded than I think the one who shot him, probably a cop?). Mi Ka dutifully treats the wounded and I think the authorities are informed as the bus load of passengers are probably being taken hostage.

She speaks to the authorities about the need to carry out surgery on board the bus and says she will provide them with a list of items needed, requesting for medical personnel to assist her (to board the bus). Ke Lei gets a call to attend to the situation but is unaware that it's Mi Ka, until he arrives at the scene. Someone on the scene asks if the equipment that Dr Mi asked for has been prepared. Ke Lei catches on quickly and asks for the name and gets his suspicions confirmed (he looks horrified). He boards the bus, dressed up in a doctor's garb and they lock eyes. He walks towards her, and the baddie in charge asks him to remove his face mask.

 

Episode 40

 

Ke Lei is running frantically towards the bus, boards it and we see Mi Ka being taken hostage by the head baddie. He fires a shot at Ke Lei and Mi Ka courageously puts up a fight with him, trying to disarm him. Ke Lei rushes towards the guy as he throws Mi Ka to the side. He has a knife and tries to stab Mi Ka and I think (not shown clearly) that Ke Lei shields her, getting stabbed. As he tries to stab Ke Lei again, we see the baddie getting shot at (probably reinforcements have arrived). I think Ke Lei has been stabbed in the lungs and there is fluid gathering in it, and if she doesn't do something, he can't breathe. So she has to do the same thing (she did it to a patient in the elevator, earlier episode) - I think it's called a thoracentesis, to remove fluid or air from around the lungs, and a needle is put thru the chest wall into the pleural space. She's nervous obviously about doing it but he gives her words of encouragement. After that needle-piercing scene, we see him unconscious, in an ambulance and Mi Ka talking to him. Asking him why he shielded her under such (dangerous) circumstances, saying that she just got home, and they haven't seen each other for two years. And upon meeting each other, this has befallen him. She beseeches him to wake up, recover soon, and get married. "You said that you would marry me."

And we have to wait till next Thursday then to see all this!

I was of the belief that all episodes will be out today.  Dunno tho, not sure about this.  Are they gonna drag the last 2 episodes to another week?  I really hope they don't.

Yeah I couldn't agree more!  It should have been XKL and MK's wedding and aren't we all invested in them than in any other couple of this drama.

It seems like a prenuptial photoshoot made at the base.

You're welcome chingu!  I love his voice and it changes depending on his tone and even when he sings, in the variety it's quite different... overall I just love his voice.

 

Favorite line, definitely same as yours.  It does rang differently when he is saying those two lines.  Couple that with that look in his eyes... see I just fainted.

 

Just saw episodes 35-36, and if you wanna watch it, go check it on WeTV and dramanice dot so, they're available now.

So for episodes 35-36 XKL and MK agreed to go on a trip to the beach.  MK went to work, XKL prepared their things, got a call form Capt Hao.  Another special ops, XKL left and sends a message to MK that he will be out.  MK was not able to open her phone and see his message.  

There was a suspected MERS COV case in the hospital, ER got closed, MK not feeling well, seems to have been infected, got isolated, quarantined.  She ask for her CP and saw Kelei's message.  She wanted to tell him but instead sent the message to Xia.  Meanwhile XKL and his team is busy with the new special ops.  

MK was really sad thinking about XKL not on her side and also worrying about him.

XKL and team in operation and came to Renxin.  WJ and LN went inside undercover as doctors.  When WJ went to report to XKL she mentioned about the ER incident and the isolation and wondered if MK is ok.  

MK was discharged and allowed to go home, Xia came with no XKL in sight.

XKL arrived home looking for MK. XIa told him to take care of her.  He checked on her and she's sleeping.  XKL looks very bothered and sad at the same time.  He is lying on the couch inside his room when he heard some sound.  He rushed outside and saw MK scooping some soup.  He went to her, very apologetic and sad, told MK that she wants him to not only be strong in front of her but also show his vulnerable side and asked to that she do the same.  

Thoughts

This scene is really felt really sad, tbh I cried.  There is this vulnerable feeling between them.  I love how XKL is so sweet and cared about MK so much and how he felt really guilty not being able to take care of MK when she was sick.  I just love this scene. ( I think I mentioned this about YAMH a million times already lols)

They planned another trip, XKL prepared a lot of stuff to eat, MK's fave, since it will be a long trip.  They are well on their when the evil Shao called again. Poor couple.  Xia visited MK, they drink.  At one point MK tells Xia her thoughts that with their profession even if they live in the same house, it is quite hard to have time for each other and when they do they just have to say Hi and if that kind of relationship will last.

Dr. Shao informed MK she passed the initial evaluation of the Allen Med Institute.

WB asked XKL to help him buy a diamond as he is proposing. The blockhead XKL even took a pic of the rings and sent to MK with a hanging question.

WB and XKL tried the rings and even intertwined their hands amusing the saleslady. 

Saleslady informed them that if they can buy additional items they'd get 12% discount and WB asked XKL to just buy MK's ring so he can propose also, calling him insincere for not proposing yet.  XKL told him it is insincere to just a ring just for a discount and offered to buy him a necklace as his wedding gift.

 

Thoughts

It is kinda sad actually seeing them like this. I guess they just have to prepare themselves on this matter since they both knew what kind of work each one has.  One can have his/her own limits and sometimes you just can't help but be sad every time you get stood up. Their love for each other looks strong enough to withstand this problem yet it can dampen their relationship if not taken cared of.  

 

Funny scene WB buying a ring to propose to Xia, especially when they intertwine their fingers.  But really, XKL, SWB will propose first to Xia, will be doing it faster than you who had been supposedly mentoring him?!  Doesn't XKL know what it means for a girl to be given a ring or even ask her about a ring?! Tsk!

 

I just want to see a wedding of XKL and MK, nothing else.  it seems were seeing WB's tho.  

So, for the last episodes, we're in for separation and more XKL rescuing MK.

 

I hope we get up to episode 40 tomorrow.

First Impression

Four Positive Points
Bai Jing Ting and Sandra Ma use their actual voices in this drama. That means we get the real and raw emotions in their acting. It makes a huge difference when you hear Bai Jing Ting bark orders as Captain Xing Ke Lei of the Tiger Assault Team vs. when he gets nervous around Mi Ka. The mix of his acting and the raw emotions combined creates an experience lacking in Chinese dramas’ dubbing world. That's why it's always much appreciated when I see actors/actresses use their real voices.
	The lead actors' acting is wonderful individually and even better when they come together for their scenes, AKA cue the chemistry. When we see Captain Xing Ke Lei and Mi Ka on the job, they are serious and hardworking. However, when they come together, the atmosphere changes as we see two adults who have no experience in courtship life. As viewers, we can see how awkward they are: the little hesitant moves, the nervous giggles, and the expressions on their faces. This creates the onscreen chemistry that viewers have been raving about for this drama. It feels natural, realistic, and sweet at the same time.

 

 

Some behind the scenes below.  Bai Jingting and Ma Sichun have great chemistry on and off screen.  They are so goofy and I bet they enjoyed filming this drama.
