A story about a man who was due for jailtime on charges of rape (if I remember correctly) but escaped it by pretending to be insane which resulted in him being admitted to a mental health facility instead. There he makes friends with the patients as well as learn of the workings within the mental health institution. 

I remembered watching this movie for class and being haunted by the atmosphere and ending of the movie..Too sad the way it ended because I think it could have been prevented if Nurse Ratched hadn't been so controlling over her patients.
