I have been so busy, but I finally caught up.  Episode 18 - what a gem!  I wanted to share my thoughts with all you lovely friends who supported this couple, and are friendly to all thoughts (unlike another ship).  

1. I am Team DukSun  first and foremost, always have been, but it seems to me she chose Taek.  The signs have been pointing but the end, when she keeps looking out for him when the door bell rings.  

2. Taek the knight in shining armor.  How could she not fall for the guy who always seems to come at her lowest moments?  

• When she was already feeling insecure as the middle child in the earlier episodes and then she finds out that SW likes her genius sister BR, DS cries her heart out for feeling worthless (not so much of the crush I think).  Then, Taek calls asking for a movie date. 
• When she tells her bro NoEul that she is not worth of love, Taek comes running after remembering he is her Secret Santa.
• When she is crying at the stairway (because she had no dream?, I can't quite recall), Taek comes.
• When she gets acosted by the raincoat man, Taek came to comfort her and then protect her.
• When the scumbag who had a girlfriend drops her right before the concert and her bestie wouldn't come to save her, Taek comes after forfeiting and apologizing to all for the forfeit.

3. I loved the silent acceptance and refusal of JH's proposal.  The sincerity of JH's proposal was so raw that it has to go down as one of the best proposals ever.  DS knew he was being honest when he talked about her birthday gift.  She reminisced with him.  But her sad, nostalgic smile and glint in her eyes said it all.  That was the past.  I always loved JH for his actions, but hated his inability to get rid of his sarcastic mouth and say some nice things once in a while.  Finally, he did.  It was a lovely moment for the two of them, that they knew could not be shared with the guys.  DS did not outright confirm it was a joke when SW asked her.  She knew it for what it was.  I loved that the ring that symbolized JH's hopes for his love was left on the table.  As JH said, he had hoped to propose and give it to her after his graduation; like many military graduates do with their girlfriends/to-be fiancees before their first deployment.  JH left it behind, saying goodbye to his first love.  DS left it behind because her heart had already left and she could not accept it.  Shouldn't we get a confession/proposal scene from Taek since things come in pair for this triangle?

4.  DS and Taek - both had great attitude in the morning after the concert.  Taek who does not eat, asked for a second bowl.  SW's mom, now Taek's mom, even acknowledged how precious that request was by remarking on it.  We know they stayed out late from what DS and BR said.  What happened.  There are a lot more things I noticed about this episode that I want to share, but I will leave it with the future couple interaction.  I always thought the future hubby's actions seem like Taek but wanted to discount it.  The fact that JH's actions towards NE confirms he is not the future husband; we know hubby could not act normal around NE due to him looking so much older.

The main reason I don't want to write more about the episode is because I have limited time and I keep wondering about what happened to DS and Taek at the concert or after the concert.  I think Taek confessed; she dressed up to meet her boyfriend.  But how did the confession come by:

Scenario 1:

After the concert, DS asks seriously how he came to the concert.  

DS: Ya, how did you come here today?  Didn't you have a match?

Taek: It ended early. I was offered a ticket by your friend dating my manager.

DS: Oh.  Wait, how could it possibly end that early?  Ya, what did you do?  Did you hear something from her?  Did you hear I am pathetic and got dumped? (tears come into her eyes)

Taek: DukSun -ah.  I came.  (He moves forward and grabs her wrist) I forfeited my match. I came for you. I knew you were more important.  I like you.  I love you, and have for a long time.  Only you.

Scenario 2:  after the concert

DS: That was fun.  Wasn't it fun?  It is good for you to get out once in a while.  Oh, I guess you get out now on all your dates.  You used to get all those letters and now you go on dates.  You are so popular.  I wish....nevermind.  It's cold.  Should we get something to eat and drink?

Taek: ok.

(at pojangmacha) DS: be careful the soup is hot. 

Taek burns his tongue

DS: gosh, you.  seriously.  Do you do this when you go on dates?

Taek: No.  I am working on it.

DS (while eating her noodle soup, not looking at Taek):  What are you working on?  Have you even confessed?  Ever?  You said you were going to confess that time.  I can't believe a girl would reject you after confession.  You are sincere and honest to a fault.  

Taek: Duksun-ah.  

DS:  ung.  (still eating)

Taek: Duksun-ah.  Look at me for a second.

DS: Why?  (looking up).  What?

Taek: The one I wanted to confessed to a long time ago was you.  But it seemed you would not believe me.

Scenario 3: (after the concert)

DS: Wow that was so fun!  What a great concert! Isn't he the best?

Taek: You were so into it. Its amazing how you could get so engrossed even after what happened...(stops talking realizing he let the cat out of the bag)

DS: What happened? what? (as she looks at Taek, she realizes Taek knows).  How did you find out?

Taek: my manager's girlfriend let it slip because she was so upset about how her junior still had a girlfriend.

DS: He has a girlfriend?  I was two-timed.

Taek: wait, you didn't know?

DS: Why does the world hate me so?  I look so pitiful.  I really didn't want to look pitiful in front of you of all people.  Seriously.  (she starts tearing up)

DS: You have no idea because you are loved and respected everywhere.  God this is pitiful.  Even you thought I was a pushover at one time.  (as she walks away from Taek to keep him from seeing the tears pooling.)  Arggh, and I thought he liked me.  But then, I am always wrong about these things.  Heck, I even thought you liked me at one time, only for you to cancel and date all those girls.  I liked you too but you dated ... what am I saying? I am just so pitiful.  I am wearing sandals for goodness sakes.  

Taek (comes up from behind): What did you just say?

DS: Nothing.

Taek: (turns her around to face him) Duksun-ah.  It wasn't nothing.  I forfeited my match for you.  I liked you all this time.  Did you just say you liked me?

WHAT HAPPENED?  Oh writer who have written the best dialogue, monologue, who I can't even think to replicate, please prove me right and give me the best confession/proposal scene(s) ever.  Top the one of JH.

I dont know, im not even imagine what will happen with DS or TK confession. Why i keep remember "i remember you" drama (PBG another drama) i just feel, they just start dating without a lot word to talk about their heart, since both of them aware their feeling.

I dont know. I think DS needs words. She has low self-esteem and baggage when it comes to love. If this was true, DS and JH should have gotten together. That is the couple without words but full of action. I think that is also why most thought JH was end game, including me until ep. 18.

Just a prediction:

DS may be fidgeting and waiting for taek to arrive because the both of them will announce their relationship later to the group. before JH leaves. while they're all complete.

Hello I am new to Soompi Forums! I was before a bystander but now I have become a up stander for Taek!!

So here is my analysis. I'm pretty sure Taek will be the husband because episode 18 was titled "Good-bye My First Love". JH confessed but turned it into a joke. I feel that this was because JH realized if he couldn't get DS he should at least somehow tell her how he truly felt about her. By doing this, he let go of DS, and this is why the ring was left behind. So JH gave DS to Taek, and so JH basically said  'good bye' to DS, his first love.

DAEBAK! This thread is moving sooo fast. So many new TaekSun shippers. Yay! Welcome!  I can't believe that there's only 2 episodes left and then it's over. omg, feels like this drama just started and I was watching the first episode. So many heartfelt moments, so precious friendships, so  amazing characters and families. *sobs* This is definitely the best one out of the reply series. going to miss it. much.  I was also wondering, to which year are we jumping in the next reply drama?  

hmmm...Now to the latest episode, JH confessed to DS and my heart was really aching when I saw those flashbacks with his POV. I felt very bad for the guy, but this is what life is. You don't always get the person you want.

But JH said it himself, with him & DS, the timing was always bad and he hesitated. That's why he lost his chance. He knew when he confessed that Deok Sun's heart is already somewhere else. She kept looking at that door and looked somewhat disappointed when a certain person didn't come?

Taek has taeken her heart now. It's obvious, that is why I know that Taek is the husband. It has nothing to do with "changing script" as some ppl are saying. This writer does not change the ending because of fans or popularity towards ship/characters. There's hints all the way from the beginning that Taek is the husband. She has planned it all along. JH was not the one from the start. This time, the famous underdog will win. Everything is pointing to that way since JH has now confessed and given up. There's 2 episodes to go (oh my god, only 2!!!!) and I hope to see from Deok sun's POV, how she realized that she's in love with Taek. Yes I prefer to use the word "realize", because I think she's been the most clueless about her feelings towards him all this time. I wonder what opened her eyes?  I hope---like many of you---to see flashbacks from here there in last 2 episodes and I want to hear Deok Sun's confession to Taek, the words "I love you." *squeezes

It's been so many years already, Deok sunah, open your mouth and say it! It's the timing.... ~~~ 

I can't wait for next friday-staurday but I also don't want this drama to be over. *sigh. but nothing lasts forever, right? and we still have those 2 episodes. I'm anticipating to see more TaekSun moments <3 But I also wish everyone will be happy in the end. <3 to these words & gifs I end this post. First because DS crush to JH was over in past. "Why i should silently still liking someone who always ignored me, when i personally thought "in the past" i was liked him back and Tried hard to got his attention, while he enjoy loved me by himself, and i was suffer heartbreak back then. Meanwhile the one who truly love and care with me, was in front my eyes??? We talk a lot, i feel safe with him, he understand me well, he always make me happy, i tread him like baby, but he take care of me so manly. What do you think ? 

If you follow the plot and collect the hints, im sure you will joint TAEKTANIC, BADUKSEON,ATHLETEAK,or whatever the name. Hahaha 

i was 50-50 back then, but i forgot this hunting husband, why i should worried? I just need to collect all the hints,analysis, and give conclusion. that why i was lurking 3 thread. My experience lurk their opinion was:

1. MT never help me out, most ppl busy with their own hero, and ignore the drama. But i personally feel MT like grave, no one will mention you if you dont ask their own hero.  

Then i start to lurk

2. Taek and jh shipper.

my opinion is, all taek shipper is smart ( csi team), and full of humble and nice ppl. And JH team, hmm.. I dont fit with their opinion, and taek team always match the analysis with the drama. They love park bo geum *maybe few ppl. But still follow the plot.

I hope you all saw the mature DS, which is more of the true DS acting herself and not what others ( romance novels, friends) think she should do. and what does DS act like?

well she lies... a lot...is actually very subtle in showing her true feelings.  (I think people on this thread remember all the scenes that would highlight the points above...but if needed i can list them.)

In some ways JH and DS ways of showing they like someone is more similar than different,

JH hides behind his jokey/i dont care attitude, and DS hides behind her "confident"/ Im doing great/strong and loud girl attitude. That is why they had so much missed opportunities between them because they need their "opposite" ( now something that the yin yang sign highlights beautifully, is that they need someone that is their opposite but a better world is FLIPPED version of themselves, so that their exterior and interior selves mirror each other) that is why I always said JH needed a girl who when likes someone take NO sh*ts and goes after the guy( doesnt need a friend or the guy to show interest its all on her own terms, who when he jokes, just tells him to get over himself and to say what HE REALLY MEANS, someone who when they are in love show it by saying it over and over to their person they are after.Someone who is so obvious that JH hesitant personality can open up. * kay slightly off topic but I just see this girl coming on a motorcycle , in all black leather looking epic as richard simmons and just stealing JHs little soft heart*

DS is NOT that person...when she really likes someone she says NO ( piggyback)...she isnt clear at all with her true intentions. SO this is why TK being an empathetic person works soooooo well for their relationship. HE has mastered the craft of observation, of understanding the TRUE intentions of the moves of his opponent so that he would be ready to match them. He is confident in that he loves DS, his eyes will always be on her (the middle child that felt ignored). TK can 'read" DS and that SCARES her. 

Seeing ep 18 I actually better understood why DS never confessed to TK in 1989. She kept trying to look cool in front of him, dating someone that she knew his manager would mention to him ( doesn't that sound like bora??) 

you see when TK told DS that she knows nothing about him...that hit a sore spot...and both DS and TK know that what he said was not true. DS knows A LOT about TK, but he just attacked one aspect of herself. the one aspect that she could be confident in.

DS would rather have TK in her life then not. 

She would rather be a "fool" in front of him then for him to reject her.

JH acts like he doesnt care when he actually CARES A lot. DS acts confident when she is actually really insecure and afraid of being vulnerable. 

 

DS can not rely on others for that confidence. She on her own has to own up to her vulnerability. She has to think of herself as worthy enough of at least confessing her love to TK. SHe cant be thinking about society ( he is smart famous, better then her, a celeb is worthy of him) and friends, she has to listen to her heart fully and put it on the table. 

Im going to go back to a line in Sad Fate, when the "loneliness becomes unbearable" for DS, the time will come.

*I thought it was interesting she is the heaviest drinker (hint hint hint). I also found the mention of herbal medicines in both ep 16 when MO gave some to DS and in ep 18 to be interesting...

Funny how people are grasping at straws to make Jung Hwan the husband in the Jung Hwanx Deok Sun thread. Some theories are so convoluted its not even funny. Let's hope that there isn't any backlash next week when Taek ends up being the husband.

Taek should be the husband because DS previously and a crush on SW, but was 'rejected'. She also had a crush on JH but later she got over it. Why would do you think the writer-nim hasn't given DS a crush on Taek yet? Because DS is slowly gaining true affection for Taek! The bridal carry and her astonishment at Taek coming to the concert are leading up to Taek being her knight in shining armor!!

Guys its near to end. Remember the past 2 reply series. They Always give us the big hints almost 90% near to the end. 

1. We saw yj confession, and sw reaction.

2 i personally saw na jung expression toward chilbong. It so sad how chilbong realize her feeling and step back.

the hunting is ended well. Hihihi

 

btw, when jh ended to said he love ds, i saw him wait for few second (and staring to ds) like he wait for answer, but she didnt answer him. And Accidently ds looking the door ring again, and JH know her answer. After that she just enjoyyyy to chill with them.

@st4rdust come to think of it, TK giving DS that trophy was pretty significant.  Look at it, totally unassuming, but very valuable with a significant meaning. I wonder how she felt (NL too and their mom) when it was discovered it was the trophy from his tournament.  I wonder if that's why her mother seemed so resolute that Taekkie would be her son in law?

yesss JH deserve his own soulmate that can understand him better than anyone like how DS get Taek who can read her like no one else could....

haha with JH personality who can't show his honest feeling through word maybe a girl that would lead can spell his thought without the need for him to say would be perfect...i wish he would find his own soumate but DS definitely not the one since like you say they are too similar especially how they keep bottle up their true feeling, JH with his hesitation & inability to be honest with how much he care and DS always have that insecurity that she need someone to reassure she worth their world since she the type would get convinced with word rather than silent action only well of course action important too but sometime need to convey with word too...JH&DS really not meant for each other i have feeling it end up unhealthy relation unless they change...well jh did finally manage to say what he feel but a little to late...though this is realistic drama that im sure a lot of people can relate to JH situation unable to say what you feel until it too late and many missed opportunity..

Taek himself like other say is someone with the worse timing but he never hesitate to fight for what he want(well except for that noble part) and show he care...he always be there for DS at her lowest moment and able to comfort her making her feel safe...their opposite personality is the opposite attract kind that balance each other in good way.

ok i need to sleep and forgot this drama i dunno what i say even make any sense anymore it unhealthy to keep thinking of fictional character im glad only 2 ep left to make us suffer though im gonna miss the whole r88 team..hope someone can share any bts pics with group since im not interested to step into mt but i do love other cast beside taeksun

It would be super confusing if JH was the husband. Even if the producers or writers suddenly wanted to change their mind, and make junghwan the husband that would be pretty difficult. The writer nim has invested so many episode to Taek and DS, it wouldn't make sense if DS suddenly just fell in love with JH at the end after all what Taek had done for her. I do feel that JH couldn't let go of DS and felt that if he confessed to her in a comfortable way for everyone that means he would be at peace. I hope the writer- nim dedicates these 2 last episode to Taek and DS!!!
