Who's watching the opening ceremonies? Very creative, but also really quite weird.

 

 

Hubby says the whole thing just seems very French.

@sweetroad  me. The opening is weird. I like the earliest bc then you could just skip the part when the athletes entered. Now you can’t bc you could miss something interesting.

@joccu The TV announcers we're listening to don't know what to do with the short interludes of biking, fashion show, and Minions. They seem more comfortable announcing when they're introducing the countries.

 

The boats holding the athletes are pretty cool. Too bad it's raining so much - I imagine the organizers are disappointed. But then again, they planned to have the whole thing outside.

Tried to, but I gave up after 20 minutes. Turns out it doesn't actually feature tonkatsu. @MayanEcho @sadthe1st It's safe to say that you can give this one a pass

 

@sweetroad @joccu Am gonna just skip the opening ceremony as I only care about the sports anyway. Also, your analysis of the ceremony is making me happy I chose to open a bottle of wine instead.

It's like watching Eurovision take place all over Paris. The most normal thing about tonight is the athletes' procession. And it's pretty cool that it's on boats.
