Yes, it's good to eat salads with some bread or include some quinoa/pasta/couscous/bulgur or similar in the salad. Otherwise it might be too light to keep the hunger away.

these are really yummy.. but i had bad experience last time.. i used spoon to scoop and eat from one of the halves.. it was really ripe and sweet.. after a few mouths, i noticed tiny white worms wriggling inside among the mushy white flesh.. i do not need to continue the story thereafter..

Looks similar but tastes different. The cactus fruit is a lot more crunchier than pithaya and is fresher in taste. Prefer the prickly pear over dragon fruit tbh,

Wait, you left the half to rot for a a few months? No wonder there were worms in it.

Have you tried sweet passion fruit?

 

You can make really nice cocktails from it. Like a Pisco Sour.

Custard Apple - so long have not ate but I saw a stall selling & overheard the price is RM 20+ 

too expensive to eat. those days during my childhood time, we ate for free from neighbours.

 

@sadthe1st  you still eat Custard Apple today ?

Yes, they are sweet. But to be fair, egg fruit is not as sweet as other fruits and it's kinda "doughy" in texture.

 

Another really interesting fruit is:

 

Sweet Cucumber (Melon Pear)

 

Not sure if it's common in your parts of the world? I tried it and it smells like cucumber but tastes more like a cross between watermelon and persimmon.

noooo.. i split the fruit to halves and eat with a spoon.. lol but you know the weather here is so warm and humid, fruits left on the table continue to ripen very fast..

hahaha it's still tangy to me!! i bought these yellow ones from ecuador, wait for them to be slightly more wrinkly in the outer skin

 

most of our fruits here are imported, so as long as the freight time permits, i think we should be able to access most of the fruits!
