How long do you think Dora will stay in this new idenity/personality? I see a scenerio where ML falls in love with "Ji Young".

we are at ep 16. so drama is 50 eps. generally, these reveals happen pretty late in daily dramas right? so we should look at same timeline. maybe around ep 35 or so Dora will return to her old identity? yea, I can see ML falling in love with Ji Young or being drawn to her and being very confused about his feelings.

You might be right. This is after all still a family weekend drama. I was kind of hoping that they would go full on makjung.

I would love if she goes on makjang route where she does not forgive her family and tells her mother to take a hike. but this is a family weekend drama and so we might have the terrible arc of the mother somehow redeeming herself even though she is such a horrible user. :(

  3. @kboramint ~ Dora jumped on her own accord because she was pushed beyond her breaking point. SML feels guilty because he was the one who set her up by creating that sponsor scandal.

At least the SML feels guilty for his actions which is why he keeps seeing her ghost. However, the mom is an awful, awful, awful person. She wanted compensation from SML! Seriously? Even after everything that happened, she gets out of jail and wants a find to way to cash in on Dora's death.

She created all these debts, was pushing her daughter to do nude shoot and then sell her off to a rich guy in marriage and she still feels no responsibility for her actions. So in comparison, the mom is the more evil person.

Overall, it wasn't just his actions. I feel the mom was the bigger factor in Dora's downfall. So both these two characters are also responsible. But like the actor guy said, everyone likes to throw eggs on celebs when they are down and in that sense, society as a whole is also responsible in the kind of vitirol that gets passed.

When Dora regains her memory, she needs to kick the mom to the curb. It is good that the younger brother Do Jun just walked out on this family and rightly told the mother is to blame for Dora's death.

Exactly - why does Art MIL get the OMG attention when it wasn't even a murder - Art MIL called Hye Ji to the hotel, Hye Ji had no plan to kill her, she just didn't save her because Art MIL had just threatened to ruin her.  Now art druggie is a different story, Hye Ji definitely conspired to kill him yet Hye Won treats it almost as an after thought

What is funny is that the actual cause of death is heart attack which is so anti-climatic by this drama. no one got hit by a truck or thrown over a balcony or knifed or pushed down the stairs or lost half her brain or anything.

It seems like such an eye roll because Hye Won is the only one with OMG reaction in the room when everyone else is so meh on hearing this same old story over and over. ^_^

HJ is annoying and HW is selfish. Well, both are.

at least Hye Ji is living as herself with no pretense. whereas Hye Won seems so hypocritical and comes across as really unlikeable. both sisters are alike and yet as audience, we are supposed to pretend that Hye Won is the better sister. please!!!!! facepalm.

And they can both get the WTOD special. #TeamNoOne.

that would actually be the best ending! kill them both off! :joy:

He's the SML from Witches Game, and while he doesn't have as many one-liners as he did in that drama, he does have a few in this one so far, and he delivers them with the same flare. He's clearly playing for Team Bad, but I like him ... alot more than Goofy ML & Chad Oppa

yea, he is far more intriguing than the other two leads who are really just background right now. no idea why those two guys are so team hye won but it is just so meh. it is easy to like this new guy! hahahahha

It's because the actor has ML charisma. Don't know why he got a supporting character role

he definitely has so much charisma. am surprised that I haven't seen him as lead in other dramas. maybe it is just the characterization that makes him stand out here?

Luckily I hate both sisters. They're not even trying to make Hye-Won likable- she's still a villain, writer-nim! 🙄😂

if the writer didn't keep mentioning art MIL's death, we would forget what hye won is even after. right now, the drama is really about money and control. so why pretend that we should care about art MIL's death?

anyone who joins team 'good' (HW) pretty much becomes boring whereas team 'bad' (HJ) keep chewing out their scenes with such unpredictable gusto that it is entertaining to watch.

for that reason, I want to cheer HJ on! :D

  7. @maribella ~ overall it was interesting drama enough to keep watching but not good enough to remember. also agree with you that veil drama was far more entertaining. I am sure that I will have no idea what the  plot of this drama is if you ask me in a few weeks.

like others, my rating is 5.5. basically it was average drama but there were moments where it was really well done.

@liyahsbutterfly -- agree with you the music was really good in this drama. one reason, I was also thinking of rating it 6 but then the leads were so meh that I settled on 5.5. especially in the emotional scenes, the music, the cinematography was really top class

@UnniSarah ~ I did like the characterization of the villains. for me, serin didn't really get any reaction with me even though I felt the actress did her best and understood her character. just like her parents, she was perennially jealous and blamed others for her misery. so while her graph was well-written, it was just meh for me to watch.

I thought Wang Je Guk was the more interesting villain -- smart, conniving and totally shamelessly entitled. he didn't have any moral compass at all. his strongest scenes though with ji hoon -- both the actors chewed out the scenes in their confrontations. there was so much emotion there. in contrast his fight scenes with yohan was so meh.

so I liked that both these villains got killed off. he would have never jumped and neither would he have repented in jail. serin on the other hand was backed into a corner and she couldn't face the mirror -- so it made sense that she would indeed jump and also take chairman along for the ride.

as for noel touching his hand, it actually made sense to me. these two had a very dysfunctional toxic relationship for years. she fought with dajung for him. as she kept pealing back the layers, she found him a more horrible person but if you saw their fights, it was filled with tears. she didn't hate him as much as she was horrified by who he was. ultimately, they did love each other in a way and those feelings cannot be switched off just like that. her working in the restaurant made no sense. why doesn't she go back to her job as wedding designer???

I liked how they wrapped up for sang cheol, his mom and ji hoon. also serin's mom going mad was the right ending.

so final episode in many ways was one of the strongest episode after the extension..

the leads were basically meh. no chemistry and you are supposed to feel bad but nothing. I thought yohan had more good scenes with jihoon.

Btw has anyone watched Baby Reindeer on Netflix? Am hearing everyone raving about it. Apparently it's based on a true stalker story?

haven't got around to it yet...

I watched Manhunt on apple TV and it was really good. Historically based and well-acted. It didn't feel like a lecture or lesson but you see it was difficult times and the people who rose up were extraordinary as well. All the characters felt like real breathing people rather than some caricature based on historical figures.

Out of interest, which actors  / actresses do you think has one?

kekeke... ah okay. like @MayanEcho said, it is really about eye emotion speak. if it conveys intimidation, ferociousness, cunning attitude, then it is automatic RBF. otherwise, it just feels like boredom or disengaged though for some people, that would qualify as RBF.

  13. @LeftCoastOppa ~ I was reading up on Princess Aurora and it turns out that both goofy lawyer and Chase Lee were in the drama. LOL.  Goofy lawyer was the male lead at one point and she divorced him. He also died later in the series. She married Chase Lee who was the second male lead. Maybe writer is taking tips from Princess Aurora. That drama has kill count of 12 characters and that includes a dog. :lol:

Art MIL is still alive, and apparently Hye Won knew it!

bwahaahahah... So her rage and anger at chairman and Hye Ji is even more pointless???? Can we have grandma come back to life as well? hahahhaha.. This is beyond ridiculous now....

With what seems like almost daily, out-of-the-blue, plot twists, it makes me wonder if the current writer actually wanted this assignment, or was merely tasked with it.

I can see the producers ... its your show now, change the story, and kill off whoever you want ... Princess Aurora is still the standard.

    The new writer ...

I think new writer was merely tasked with it. hahahhaha....

I have always wanted to watch Princess Aurora just to see how bad it was. I would love if this daily surpassed Princess Aurora kill count. Does anyone know how many characters have been written off so far? Then we can all be able to say, "I watch that stupid drama!"

Sorry for this treatise on infidelity @Lmangla, I have seen too many children from broken homes, they may heal but always scars are there, which often end up hurting their own children. This is kdrama, the writers can write anything they want, I guess.

I get where you are coming from but I have a different perspective. I will keep it short -- generally speaking, am rather detached when it comes to watching cheating in dailies. I know it annoys some viewers based on their personal feels and experience.

For me, cheating is either a symptom or the cause of the relationship breakdown. It is far more interesting to watch dramas where cheating is a symptom because you can get insight into how relationships can get beyond repair. Even when cheating is a cause, the dramas can still be fascinating to watch as it is high impact.

Here, cheating is one of the most boring arc in this drama and barely creates any noise. She got cheated on but she hardly had any reaction to Ji Chang but she is still upset with Chairman  Romeo -- that makes no sense LOL.

Rather than the cheating, Hye Won's interference and her nonsensical rage take centre stage and pushing the plot.

Pretty much all the characters are placeholders and react in relation to Hye Won's rage and seem to barely have any arc on their own. This is why the writer keeps killing off one character after another and it hardly causes a blip.

The only reason I am still watching this mess is to see who else dies and what bizarre twist they will come up with next. kekeke. ^_^

  16. Here are my guesses @LeftCoastOppa:

-- Both chairman romeo and Hye Ji will die. She is already suffering from delusions from time to time and they will later say that she too has a clot in her brain like him. He will die first and she will realize that she did really love him as well. Then she will be chapter closed, more likely at the hands of Hye Won or one of her schemes.

-- When Hye Ji dies, Hye Won will finally be forced to confront herself in the mirror and she won't like what she sees. She will then say that she has become just like grandma while sitting in prison cell.

-- Maybe crazy aunt will raise the kid or he too will die. Since the writers like twists so much, there will be more killing off characters.

-- Chase Lee will go back to US and goofy lawyer will lead separate lives. Both will have moved on from their short lived love for this weirdo woman.

The whole list of tragic/comedic events was spawned by him cheating on JC’s mother.

Yes he cheated but this was an unhappy family to begin with. It was not like he destroyed some happy unit. It was broken already. They had been leading separate lives for years. If it wasn't Hye Ji, it would have been someone else he had an affair with.

Grandma would have come around to accepting Hye Ji as second wife because she said that she can't command a 60 year old man to do something else. Art MIL would have eventually accepted because this marriage was long dead. She was only holding on for the sake of Ji Chang. So they would have gotten divorced and he would have married Hye Ji. Now whether they would have been happy is a different issue altogether.

What messed up the events was Hye Won meddling and instigating everyone and taking it all personal. If she had stayed out of the mess, then things could have gone a different direction. Till date, Hye Won hasn't accepted that her words as a child messed up Hye Ji's direction. Similarly, Hye Won did have a role to play in how things turned out in the family. She was the bad omen as chairman Romeo put it.
