agree... sometimes i do asking "do you really in love?" their dates looks boring, and they seems like been talking about shady mom all the times during their dates.. then where is the love?

great question! guess we are just supposed to take it at face value that they are in love.

but your post has me wondering -- can a guy be protective of a woman even if he is not in love with her? eun seok is really motivated by his protective instinct but is it just because he is chivalrous? kind? or is he in love? maybe we should get a male opinion on this - @rolisrntex ~ what do you think?

jenny is not very protective of eun seok. is it because she can't or won't? if you saw the man that you love being attacked, wouldn't you retaliate? or is she just enamoured or infatuated or attracted to eun seok?

    I haven't.

maybe you should. if you get headache when you just wake up and feel dizzy, it could be something like BP? so there are lots of different types of headaches and migraines. in some cases, headaches are related to some other problem like low sugar etc. thats why it is better to check with a doctor to rule out those other stuff. feeling sleepy/tired and not able to concentrate are common side effect of having headaches and migraines.

check out resources to get an understanding of the different types of headaches and migraines that are there: https://headaches.org/resources/the-complete-headache-chart/

in order to treat a headache, you have to first know what type it is (there are lots!) and to be able to convey that to a physician effectively.

what helps is to have a headache diary -- note down how often you have a headache, how long it is and what your triggers are. https://www.migrainetrust.org/living-with-migraine/coping-managing/keeping-a-migraine-diary/

if your triggers can be avoided, then it helps. for some, chocolate, wine is a trigger. for people like @Sejabin and myself, the trigger can be weather related -- basically it has to do with air pressure, heat -- stuff we have no control over.

have had headaches and migraines for years. started when I was 12 and it is inherited. something that really helps me is to exercise regularly, sleep a fixed amount (6-8 hours and have a regular sleep schedule) and never skip meals. I always stick to my meal times. If my meal is delayed by half hour then immediately, I start to get a headache. I always have 3 meals minimum. drink plenty of water. during a headache, wash your face with cold water and close your eyes for a few minutes. don't spend too much time staring at the computer and every few hours, look at nature. it helps to cool the eyes.

I chopped my hair because I found it too heavy and actually making my headaches worse. have read in one forum that for some men (think you are a guy right?), keeping a bald/crew cut helps?

so I generally apply a balm (menthol/eucalyptus based helps. do you have anything like tiger balm?) and if it is bad, then take a painkiller. taking a short nap also helps. sometimes headaches are psych-related -- so if you are anxious about something, it is reflecting in your body. something that also many suggested is to have a glass of hot water after a meal (think something like chinese/ginger tea) and that will help.

Love letter look so old haha... i checked YT.. the fashion i can't.. btw just spoil me will he get the girl there?

it is kind of a weird drama in that no one gets the girl! :sweatingbullets:... well it is kind of open confusing ending but from what some explained to me, basically everyone ends up single but happy.

it had a great OST and some nice winter shots from what I remember..

Anything else worth checking out from his drama? But i think i can't do Saeguk.... Anyone know One Warm Word? Is that good?

dont watch it! it is AWFUL. so boring and very slow. gave up halfway through. it was very annoying. if you want to see a real oldie, check out love letter -- it is one of his earliest dramas and he is actually the second lead but from what I remember, it was an unique drama and nothing happened the way I though it would.... am not surprised that he is a good actor now because I thought he showed promise even as a second lead.

I am actually thankful for the length cos then you will only watch the best of the best! :w00t: with lot of fast forwarding and skipping! Also, I dropped Erkenci Kus bcos it just kept going in circles. The otp is beyond perfect but I cudn't continue.

omo, hate dramas that go around in circles. it is one reason I lose interest in our local dramas. they start out great, so much chemistry and then the story goes nowhere. better to watch MVs. hahahahah....

  6. @nateko ~ ah I see; this reminds me of the empress drama where they butchered choi jin hyuk's character. I was so salty about it that I didn't really watch the ending. just the last 5 minutes. what really ticked me off is that he didn't even get a proper dying scene and no one seemed to care or even mention it in passing that he's gone. don't know what happened behind the scenes but we never got a proper explanation for that. ugh.

  7. @nateko @sushilicious ~ what's this story with the PD and voice?

    496

@staygold ~ I get the appeal of turkish serials. good looking fellas and like you said, it all looks good visually. story wise, it is paced quite alright. somehow, the language and culture -- it all feels more accessible than some english series where I am not sure what is going on. :sweatingbullets: have watched lots of clips of turkish serials and find them interesting but the length of one episode feels too much. if it came in half hour episodes, I would actually not find it cumbersome. hahahah.. 2.5 hours feels really really really long. it is the same reason I am not able to watch many movies these days. just find it difficult  to sit for so long.

kekekek.... me too, learned that one from dramas/cinema; it is not like a word one would use in normal times unless you were in some shady family like in dramas. hahahahah....

so I managed to finish ep 2! feel like patting myself on the back for finishing another episode. hahahah.... the story is built well but it still feels so long. I stop and do other stuff and then get back to it. so I have been sitting on this for the whole afternoon after lunch. :sweatingbullets: not sure how @staygold managed to watch so many turkish series. guess, you watch it in slices? so maybe I will watch the series over a month? bit by bit.only 30 episodes to go! :D

haha, it has many common Arabic words too :D insaan, ishq, chai, sokar are Arabic words. The Turkish empire ruled Egypt for some time, so they took some words from us :D  And we also took some words from them :D

what about dushman (enemy) and layak (suitable)? is that common to arabic as well? it is kind of fun that I am getting other random stuff from this drama....

    3) That cold = it's super OTT to go to hospital - correction: carted to hospital ... over a cold + a bad cough fr hell that persistently never goes away for 3 wks. Hands up: How many of us with a cold have gone to work when an urgent project/report is due .... to school, regardless .... or mothered/ran normal household routine with kids in the picture? With  NOT even a visit to the doctor, nevermind HOSPITAL!!!  :P

bawahahah... it is just the initial honeymoon/intense phase. generally, after that, everyone would just take meds and back to school/work ...

that said, these days, a cough for 3 weeks in this part of the world (asia) could be something more serious like one of those viral fevers that end up in pneumonia or worse. so during certain seasons, doctors do advice that a persistent cough and fever longer than 2 weeks should be taken seriously if regular antibiotics are not working and a visit to a doctor might be better on the safe side.

Man soo wants to avenge the death of his father from his mother, the shady mom, if I guess right,

      Reveal hidden contents

I was watching episode 15. Mansoo is a very good singer and plays the guitar too @Lmangla :)

kekeke... man soo is indeed complex but many of us are finding him very intriguing. he is a good actor as he is bringing out a lot of nuances to each scene. so you see lots of layers to his interactions with jenny and shady mom that it makes you curious.. it says in han cinema that he is a musical actor and so maybe thats why he is good singer.

actually all the actors are doing a good job in the roles. even jenny who is really meh for me does not annoy me. the actress is doing a good job in interpreting the character sketch and the character for all her flaws is pretty much on point. am not wanting to whack this lead like I felt with the last drama (which I had to stop watching because I felt like cursing the female lead for her bad behaviour...)... while I like eun seok for his brave, direct and on-point actions, the romance with jenny feels kind of flat. does anyone else feel that way? yea, it is supposed to be love at first sight but there is a lack of spark? rather than cheering for eun seok - jenny, you are instead nodding with grandfather that this is not a good match...

while dong joo and song ah would be super boring in other dramas, they are really great match here as well as fun to watch. there is something soothing about their grounded, mature character. they are content, happy and not craving for romance. so all their interactions are filled with a kind of unexpected joy. it is cute.

  14. kekeke.... so I have been really bored or meh on kdrama kiss scenes lately. :P hahahahha... so not sure why I am drooling over this one. hahahhaha... it is motivating me to watch this series more but can I really sit through episodes that are 2.5 hours? :sweatingbullets:

am going to be like @kokodus and @sushilicious and @Sejabin and randomly dump my thoughts on this clip. ^_^

omo! is it the quietness of the scene that I really like? there is so much underplay of emotion that you normally don't see. there is a hesitation, an awareness that this could change the dynamic, there is a sense of wanting but also not wanting.. there is a sense of wonder but also the sense of not being good enough. love that his face is weathered and almost sad -- he is a man who knows that he is not good enough for her. and yet, the tenderness mixed with desire wins out. gah! :relaxed: ... only to be tinged with regret later!

and abs loving gals @Ameera Ali @triplem, this man's abs is enough for me to appreciate them! hahahahha....

  15. random stuff -- am amazed at the number of turkish words I recognize while watching the drama. guess, the silk route had lots of language crossovers! insaan (person); ashq (love - in hindi/urdu, it is ishq), janam (my love), chai (tea), sakar (sugar)....

  16. survived ep 1! hahahha... ok, in between I got distracted and was watching tons of YT clips from the drama instead. kekeke... . one of the YT comments said there is a real shakespeare vibe to this couple which was spot on. it makes it  actually kind of fun to watch.

this one clip had me really giggling. so she is annoyed and wants a divorce but is cuddling him in her sleep and muttering "I want a divorce!" and his response is to hold her closer and say "sure" :joy:.

@triplem @Lawyerh @Ameera Ali @kokodus ~ we should have more such scenes in dramas where they are forced to stay together / contract relationship trope

so what was the story of the drama. you can give a recap since there is no way we are going to sit through 360 episodes. LOL.

the series am watching only has 32 episodes but each episode is 2.5 hours. so it is 60 episodes of a kdrama series. it just feels soooooooo long. can't even watch tvn dramas because I think 80 minutes is too long.
